welcome to the backwoods gourmet today we're gonna do another one of our popular verses and we also got another giveaway for you see y'all state [Music] so today's verses it's going to involve these two beautiful boneless ribeye steaks and those fresh zucchinis these guys here we just seasoned with some Everglades original and the zucchini we seasoned those with one of our favorites Seminole swamp original just got in a new batch of that so the vs. is gonna be old cast-iron skillet and a propane burner vs. the infamous and classy weber kettle grill which we already just started up some charcoal right there so here's the deal I know you know if you're like me working a real job you know you come home every day and try to make somebody sometimes you don't want to fool with firing up the grill waiting for the charcoal to get ready but you got some steaks thought out and brought home from grocery or whatever and you know you just don't have the time or effort or energy left in your body to go out and start up the grill every single day so we're gonna compare the two and stay tuned because you might be surprised okay so if we were to start a timer and use a time to make this dish as part of the factor who wins you start the timer about five minutes ago cuz we just started this charcoal five minutes ago it's in the chimney it's about the fast way you can start it and then we're third in a grill and all that meantime mr. cast-iron in the other corner hey he haven't even started yet still sits just said no here chili [Music] those are ready pick about eight or nine minutes go ahead and put them over there on one side they're also on top of some some older coals that were down in there let them get all lit all right yeah hard to do work a camera all right getting ready and personally I think the grill has the advantage cases grills getting hot let's start getting our pan hot up what about a medium-high heat on this start with this is uh number 10 antique three knocks Lodge smooth bottom alright so everything's hot now that put a little bit of grapeseed oil and cast iron I'm gonna go ahead and throw some folks walking around the edges there be a little cooler at the end and then same thing on the grill that way moment is right over the top of it did a little coating olive oil on those and cinema womp see he would give those about a two-minute head start so in with a state it should be hot sizzling just like that maybe the little hotter that grill is Hornet hot what time is up it a little bit you gotta keep an eye on your squash you don't want to over brown on the flesh side I'm gonna getting pretty close check the grills are you getting some grill marks there not quite well we're looking for yet you guys cooked I'm really short we're going medium rare on these guys let's wait me a mrs. backwoods like some you want to go a little further be my guest but it's way we're gonna go medium rare looks like it's already funny what this guy we might have to ease him off a little bit whether the cat starts doing great go ahead and take a quick look on it get the knife here on it we'll go ahead and put them over here - color-wise very similar ok I do got these grill marks on so we're getting ready to just about to take these guys off okay both are ready to come off okay what I'm sit over here is rest on a pan beautiful both sides now worst thing you can do for me its overcook it it's gonna be rare to medium-rare and these veg they're perfect - we'll be able to tell them apart you know tell them apart because you know one has grill marks the other does so the ones over on the grill need a few more minutes so we'll leave them there for a minute it's where my over here since so that cap tire doesn't have a unfair advantage I got my little tiny tiny tiny lodge cast-iron I'm gonna throw it up there and melt some butter on here over here on this skillet I'm gonna turn it off let that cool for a second then we're gonna put some butter on the fire and I'm gonna go ahead and throw two Pat's of butter in there like grab our tongs why we kind of took this out early lay that cake right back on top of that butter and give it one piece on top just let it no fire okay just using the heat that's left in the pan grilled zucchini butters milk if you want to get it nice and hot almost at the point of brownie just like we're doing over here and in the cast iron go ahead and flip that over all right a nap around about her [Music] this guy's we're almost rated serve just gonna loosely cover them with some foil people from getting people while we get ready to play so earlier I mentioned a giveaway and what we got to giveaway this month is someone else Swamp seasoning just got my new batch in I got plenty to give away so what we're going to do is we're going to give one brand new fresh Seminole swamp original to a new subscriber that comes aboard on this video and I do have a way to track that we'll give that about a month or so and we'll randomly pick a new subscriber that comes aboard on this video and we'll send them one out also we'll be sending another one out to one of our commenters whether your subscriber or not okay I know most you guys that do comment a lot our subscribers we're gonna send this out to somebody what we're going to do this time instead of using the computer to pick we are going to actually keep all the comments that I like because some people I'll be honest with you hey Robo commented me they did all kinds of things trying to win the contest the cast iron giveaway this time leave a great comment I'm gonna probably pick it we're gonna put them all in a hat and a couple months and we're going to let mrs. backwoods pick one and then we'll send you out a free Seminole swamp original seasoning I got it's time for the plate and I'm gonna cut a piece from the very same spot in both both steaks this is the cast iron one right here medium rare perfect I'm gonna take that out that same piece off the weber kettle grill grilled steak same thing beautiful alright so forecast hard one I'm gonna do is pour a little about that butter heavy living that brown butter right over that so for our grill when we have their little teeny tiny logs that we put on there in brown a little butter on the grill so we don't want it to have a disadvantage go ahead and with that never gonna give them taste test and I'll show you how to plate it up so here we go cast iron sear state versus charcoal grilled steak first want to try the cast iron grill steak that's absolutely wonderful guy now high heat we use with the cast iron really kind of almost gives you that smoky flavor you know that comes from like sear and char and caramelizing that outside part of that that steak that's why when the meat are good medium high heat get that cast iron smoking before you put that in there so now we'll go ahead and try the Weber Kettle girl traditional charcoal grill steak that is awesome as always as it always is but who's gonna play it to me too close to call let's get mrs. backwoods out here and see if she can call okay I'm setting up to the test this one that's cast iron this one that's grill she doesn't know that okay so she has no idea which steak is which or how it was cooked so we're gonna let her takes both and see if she can tell the difference and pick a winner between the two remember they were prepared with exactly the same seasoning but on two different heat sources all right so go ahead try that one first that's possum leather just kidding yeah yeah go ahead and try the other one if they're they're different or better ones better than the other or we think okay I'm running out of film here okay I like this one okay which one did you point to okay that was the cast iron state okay this one had a different taste to it but which was better this one she liked the cast iron steak better there he goes alright also taste test not eat the whole thing so guys I decided I wasn't gonna do plating vid part of this video tonight we're hungry we want to eat and uh you know we've shown you that you can whip out the cast iron and do a steak this is a grill when because this backwoods preferred the cast iron one so she got that one so you can take a soul cast iron panel a nice hot fire and make a great steak with it every time and it's super easy and super fast so you get home late from work but you got the steak you want to cook don't want to miss with the grill get out your propane burner you got some good old cast iron it does an awesome job if you're on a diet you can always use one of these [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thanks for watching backwoods gourmet as always if you like what we're doing hit that subscribe button right there you may win some Seminole swamp
