so today's little project is rebuilding these hubs off of a case 1845 sees skid steer I didn't take any video at all of pulling these hubs off I was at load the customers location liked in a previous video I said when I'm on a customer's location if I'm charging by the hour I don't I don't there are usually don't film stuff just because it takes longer so anyway these are would actually drop the tires so if you look at that you pull the tire off pull out the nuts I'll pull it out and this is what you're going to see on this side these bolts into the chain boxes and these run on chains and you've got these sprockets in the middle so what happened on this one was on top of these chain boxes there's these covers that are kind of shaped like that and they're plastic well they broke they let water come in water filled up these boxes you can see how this ins doesn't have a lot of gristle and grime on it and any of this one but those two over there are all full of mud right so because they got filled up full of mud if you look at the difference on these see how that one is flat on there now it's got a gap that one's got a gap that one's got a gap so this tire over here I stood up being in the line like that was actually pointed in and coming over it was just giving them giving away so there's some bearings in here so we'll pull that out get all the parts out and the parts are here they get all the old parts out in the new part to come in so first things first we're gonna rebuild all of these oh and I'm sure you can see how these are all chewy shoot up the reason they're chewed up is a this little indention right here is for actually the the park brake assembly Ron Siddis go into front tires or these are your front drive axle for your skid steer so there's this big it's like a one-inch one and a quarter bar that whatever you lower on this particular model whenever you lower the seat bar just when you sit down there's a ball are you lower it over the top of you it disengages this part break so what happened is this cable messed up somebody tried to Jack with it mess with it now successfully so this part break was stuck in here and it just it came out just enough to where when they went forward it just just absolutely destroyed this gear and that gear over there so we're going to pull it off I already got this one loose once you get this nut off most of the time these will come off they're just kind of sitting on there they're really not on there that tight kind of see that one moving might have some trouble this one was a little bit tight I to use this gear puller um you get these gear puller is pretty cheap Harbor Freight you know a whole set of them for the 30 bucks or something like that no no probably pull a couple of gears off for you they work fine on the smaller stuff they don't so you can pull it off like that and then we've got a spacer ring alright there's a bearing and this is a seal so we're going to pull this seal out pull the seal out then we get that bearing out then we can get this whole shaft just to come all the way out so I'm not going to show you taking the I probably put the GoPro rub um I do a little stop-motion or something or try it but take these other four gears off and get them all the same and then we'll continue from there all right so I can't do this on a hold the film up so hopefully I can edit the GoPro footage and have it but I'm holding this by hand he can devise anything like two jack stands to hold this up he's come out pretty easy this shouldn't be seized up in there shouldn't have any issues all you got to do then pretty much I'll just come out just do the nap but just hold it up and give it a smack pull it up so I don't know if y'all can see that or not but all that milkshake stuff the reason it looks like a milkshake is that's a the chain cage chain box oil the set in there mixed with water and it absorbs so much water that that's what you get you'll find the same kind of deal in a engine crankcases to get the same stuff in a engines transmission and stuff like that rear axles you'll get this kind of like brown milkshake looking crap or just a baby puke green your baby poop green some kind of like something like that so if you see it don't you know that's why we're taking it apart stick that down grab this and try to keep some of that where it doesn't get all over my table there's some other stuff my table of myself can see it in the video or not if you see a bunch of other part that's from my engine rebuild I'm in love I'm waiting for approval actually waiting to hear back to the machine shop to see if they'll uh what the quota machine work is how bad the crank is if they can salvage it make the guy a better estimate on the parts and labor and then give it to him and see if we get approve it get it prove it I'll get all these other parts cleaned up hands but anyway we're working on this right now so just hold up I'm going to be a pain I set these up like that okay now these are set up or an old piece of a round bar or square bar just meaning that fits on there that can transfer so try that few more shovels and I can't get it to work I'm gonna put it on the ground stuff on this table the table is absorbent a whole lot of the of course instead of transferring it to the center staff but I want it to show it feels like it's coming here we go all right so lift it up put it there okay we got next I'm going to grab some paper towel I'm going to clean off these shafts probably going to cut these bearings off with a die grinder instead of press them out it's just easier and then I'll put them over two parts washer and we'll clean them up you all right so I wanted to show you something to get these races off instead of having to have a press to press this whole thing off take a die grinder and you cut an edge down the middle like that you keep cutting keep cut and make sure you don't cut into the shaft but you cut down and then every now and then you stick your chisel in you hammer your chisel eventually it'll just break apart and then it'll be wide enough to get it out so that's what I'm going to try to show you I'm stop a camera up over there and maybe I'll set the camera up over here see if you can actually tell what I'm doing my first time with this GoPro camera so I don't know it's an older GoPro so I have no idea what has been filmed what's not being filmed and safety glasses in the show you all right so I've cut enough through it and then hopefully you can see a little crack right there all right so that's what I was trying to get happening that kind of side there it's cracked enough we see it moving so we've split it open just enough to get it to come off the shaft and I just barely nicked it right there that's fine it's not in the seal area so we end up moving it let's say you get a bearings off without a press so I did Nick it a little bit that's fine it's not going to hurt anything I'll put some liquid steel in there and I nicked it right there just make sure you don't get into seal area long as you don't get in that silly area you are out you don't cut too deep into the shaft but this is ready for the parts washer and now all I've got to do is four more you we got to get these seals out I'm going to use is a pry bar pry it out then this bearing will come out then we have to knock out the race and then the race is already out on the other side you're still comes out that's the inner bearing so all we have left is the race in their number to take these I'm going to drop them off at a shop have them stick them in their babel parts washer to clean them up and then I'll take the inner race out I could clean this I've got a little part to wash it but my parts washers only guide like I don't know eight gallons of fluid in it or something like that or five gallons and it'll just clog it up and you end up having to swap the fluid out you all right so I'm going to go ahead and take out these uh braces how I'm going to do ha if you can tell but put this in there there's a little lip hold it up like this you just hit it with a you're going to race it out any races you okay that's it we took all the studs out because when I took them off most up more loose they were on there for a while and how to use 3/4 edge impact to get some of them off I don't know why they didn't break so replace the three of the gears or the sprockets here because it is and the one I'm is real sharp something is a note these gears I don't know if you can make this out in a video or not B sounds flat right here okay now if you look at this one up here it's real sharp and it's all dog-eared and bunch of crap wrong with that so we're going to replace that gear to got all of our hubs are all done I'm going to take these drop them off have them cleaned up and then we're going to paint them wait for the parts come in that's it kind of is the thanks for watching if you got any questions about how this any of this is done I know I didn't talk a lot during it but a lot of its just mechanical stuff that you just did what I showed you how to do and pull it out if you would please like the video and subscribe I plan on doing these videos frequently as I can hopefully I can do them one a day one a week every other day I can't film every time I go out on location but I'll try doing thanks for watching
