Case 1840 wheel bearing replacement Part 1

welcome back to my channel everybody my name is Rick bark and that's a bad wheel bearing so if you didn't see the video where I was working on turning the old buck horse stable barn into a shop jump over and check that out that's when the wheel bearing grenaded on the case 1840 now ironically about a month ago I had a viewer on here send me some messages and there was some back-and-forth about putting wheel bearings in one of these I had done it before everybody make a video out of it and they were interested in whether I had a video of it subsequently after a little back-and-forth and I appreciate their correspondence they did figure it out and they got it going but now we are gonna do a how-to case 18:40 wheel bearing installation [Music] [Music] I would say that's plenty loose hopefully we didn't rack the spindle and or the housing [Music] [Music] now subsequently if this was summer I would be I'd get that over I limped it over and pressure off stood I feel good and everything like that but it's spring and it still gets below freezing at night I don't want to deal with all the ice getting into things so we're gonna do the best we can to just brush things off clean them up we're gonna tear this thing apart now as you can see here we have a forcing screw that pushes this hump assembly forward to tension the chain on the back there's a double nut assembly that we're gonna have to loosen up drive back that way we can tighten that back up and back this nut off so this bolt can slide back and subsequently the whole assembly can come back now I'll loosen them nuts that hold the hub assembly in [Music] next we remove this nuts that hold the side cover up [Music] make sure you save the washers and lock washers so now for this part I'm getting into these gear oils and gear loops and stuff like that it's not a bad idea to grab a pair of latex gloves this keeps your hands from getting stained and you don't have to smell them when you're eating your breakfast in the morning so we're gonna glove up and we're gonna get in there and get after this thing okay so I cheated here a little bit I took and pulled the hub assembly off the studs turned it 90 degrees and slid the shaft back against the whole thing that's gonna give me plenty of slack in here to go ahead and loop this cane there we got the chain looped off the sprocket [Music] sprocket back toward me coaxing a little bit with the screwdriver we can drop that chain gene for now that's part one disassembly we got the hub assembly out we're gonna jump over to Park two and dismantle the hub assembly or rebuild that as well jump over and check out that video I do appreciate you guys watching like subscribe comment share and throw me that thumbs up would you we'll see you again next time [Music] you
