hey folks i'm mitch this is stonecoat countertops i'm going to show you simple to follow countertop recipe on how to pour a caramelized marble right out of a bucket stay tuned and enjoy the video all right folks today we are going with art coat why because we're going on a white piece our coat has a long extended working time of over 45 minutes once mixed it's a one-to-one ratio epoxy and you mix for two minutes with a paddle mixer step one we're gonna rough up our epoxy undercoat with 220 grit sandpaper just rough it up for a nice mechanical bond make sure you subscribe and ring the bell to get notified every time we have a new video thanks again so today we are coating over three quarter inch mdf and i've applied two coats of our epoxy undercoater in white what i like about the epoxy undercoater it dries quick has no ammonia and you could get the pore and epoxy after sanding it's time to tape the edges we tape the front and side edges to keep the epoxy from flowing over prematurely as we're pouring out our exotic pour this is an optional step but gives you fantastic results all right we've sanded we've taped the edges it's time to mix today's recipe is an exotic pour and that calls for a little bit more epoxy we're going to pour it out into separate mixing cups tint it individually pour it back into this bucket and then pour that recipe right out of that bucket right now it is winter and it is cold it's a good practice to heat up that epoxy before you start mixing we do that by setting our epoxy bottles in front of a space heater for 15 to 20 minutes we start with part b first and then part a at a one to one ratio by volume not weight don't forget to hold that bucket while mixing and keep the mixing paddle from rubbing the edges or the bottom that can cause that bucket to crack all right we've mixed for two minutes now we're going to divide that mixed epoxy up into mixing cups we're gonna dye part of that opaque white we're gonna dye some of that brown and add a little touch of diamond dust because every project is better with diamond dust [Music] a little bit goes a long way our liquid epoxy dyes are very concentrated be sure to jump on over to our website stoneco countertops to see the dozens of other color options we have to offer metallic powders spray paints and even glitters our epoxy dyes mix in very quickly board is sanded edges are tape epoxy is mixed and tinted now we're going to take that tinted epoxy and randomly pour it back into this mixing bucket and then it's time to create that countertop let loose and let the good times roll here comes the fun part randomly pour into the larger mixing bucket the assorted colors of tinted epoxy the only rules are here make sure the epoxy makes it back into the bucket and do not stir up the exotic pore i tried a new technique on this project i poured the epoxy down the side of the bucket to keep it from over mixing in the exotic pour bucket you could pour this bucket out any way you wish i'm going to go back and forth and see what it gives me slowly in whatever pattern you choose pour out your exotic pour bucket start your pour away from the edges to allow room for the epoxy to self-level don't look away right before your eyes a realistic natural looking earth-tone caramelized marble comes to life here i am using a propane torch to remove air bubbles incorporated into the epoxy wall mixing torching also warms up the epoxy to help it flow when i go to tilt the countertop if you're installing on-site and cannot tilt your project you can still use a heat gun to help the epoxy flow and achieve the same results i am using the leftover epoxy for my exotic pour bucket to fill any bare spots as the art coat epoxy is still self-leveling art coat has an unmatched uv resistance and exceptionally long open working time as i tilted the project towards the back i had luke use the propane torch to warm the epoxy and help it flow and quickly eliminate any voids it's been about 25 minutes since i mixed the epoxy i will leave the tape damn on the edges for about another 20 minutes before pulling the tape and making sure the edges are evenly coated all right folks question of the day is that a caramel marvel countertop that you want to take a bite out of let me know in the comments below yummy i want some or no thanks not for me all right it's been about 20 minutes it's time to peel that tape and make sure our edges are evenly coated this step is simple i like to start in the corner of the project pull the tape away from the top of the countertop in a downward motion to help that epoxy flow over the edges all right that tape dam did pretty good now we're going to take our gloved hands rub those edges to make sure the edges are evenly coated that is it folks rubbing the edges is the last step in this exotic poor caramelized marble color coat if you would like to learn how to apply a clear coat to this project i will leave a link to one of our clear coat videos in the description below we have done the arduous work for you if you would like to create a caramelized marble countertop for yourself we put together everything
