[Music] [Applause] so hello guys and welcome back if you recognize this spot that's the place i had my a-frame um over a year ago now nice to return here and see how it's kind of been reclaimed by nature um doing something today i wanted to do a little while but never really got around to it because the campfire cooking is more my thing there's something called canteen cup tuesday i think it is on youtube kind of a challenge where you kind of make food in a canteen cup basically so i thought i'd give that a go for a change and do something a bit more lightweight a bit more backpacker friendly um and that's going to be a thai green curry so i'll show you what i've got it's very dark and rainy out here today but i'll go over what i've got with me i've got my bcb crusader 2 i think this is the two system which has got the burner stove there and the canteen cup i've got this um coconut milk powder uh i thought i'd give that a go i did notice afterwards that um it doesn't mix up too much so what it did do is bring one of these tiny tins as well so you know it's an alternative or both whatever got some cured chicken which is tinned and thai green curry paste in this lightweight little pack little plastic tub i've also brought with me little monge 2 and baby sweet corn as well they're the only fresh ingredients which obviously you don't have to have but uh it's going to be a bit nicer for me today so yeah i'll get this set up and you may notice on the bottom here a certain rock it's still up here so i may as well use it i don't have like my bushcraft knife and stuff with me today but i've got uh my leverman wave yeah way faster one has this pretty cool pouch that you can fit a little torch in as well the tin opener on this is not the sharpest in the world so we'll give it a go i've never actually used it before there we go i've never actually had tinned chicken before it's uh i'm assuming reformed and just cut it up into chunks don't know if i need all of it probably not try it it doesn't taste too bad to be honest obviously salty cut these in half the monster so baby sweet corn and the monge two all right pretty simple and set up the stove a lot of you probably know this stove uh canteen system so i won't go into the details but i'm going to use some fire dragon gel in it because you can use a burner you can use hexi all this stuff which is now standard in the army i believe i should do at least for now haven't had the best experience with this but i have been using it as hand sanitizer get that lit straight away there it's a nice clean burn on that fold that down and get the couple i'm gonna start with a little bit of oil you wouldn't have to do this but why not get a little color on that chicken yep that's hot i'll just make sure it gets mixed up see the flames going now i might have to move the camera back a bit [Applause] i'm just going to take this off for the moment i put it best to mix the coconut milk separately because i'm unfamiliar with it [Applause] it does seem to be quite a lot there we'll start just a little bit first and give it a mix yeah that will take more water for sure it's a little bit lumpy that we'll see how it goes been mixing for a while and you can see this has gone out so i'm going to have to put some more of that in it does not last long that fire dragon gel get that reel it back on and i'm going to add in the curry paste not all of it possibly about half of it [Applause] very solid looking taste [Applause] just get our warming up mixing in all that's smelling good now right see it's a little bit lumpy i'm hoping the heat kind of helps that some nice colors there though starting to take on that classic green color now as the paste dissolves a few flare-ups here like i said i'm not that used to cooking in a canteen cup not done in a long time oh that smells good should have brought some coriander i think it's time to take this off oh here we go sorry it's so dark smells lovely that chicken's held up better than i thought it would let's try a bit i say held up it's quite soft a little mushy but it's nice because of all that salt from both the um mix and the chicken itself try some of the veg yeah monster to let some of that snap like that this is pretty good actually i'm quite happy with this half of that spice pack is plenty for this i'd say this is a bit of a success like it's um going to be better than a freeze dried or something like that if you're hiking it's not too heavy there's a lot of food there and these fresh ingredients i suppose they would last for a pre a week unless it's summer i guess i'm liking this i was actually really hungry i only walked probably about a mile i know it's just a short little video for me probably a sunday upload if you know what i mean but um i hope you've enjoyed it if you want to see some more of these maybe some more involved ones let me know below um i'm sure there's a lot to do because i've been using my transgen mini that's not too different from this we have to drink the last of that um like a soup but it was a nice soup quite a bit of a zing to be honest i probably could have put all of that chicken in too but yeah i'm quite happy with that actually it wasn't as good as miranda and curry from last week but uh i would definitely be happy with that out camping i'm happy with it today
