chain just bust in half my plan is to see is that realistic we've actually tried locks before I've done a couple videos shooting locks to see how tough locks are and you guys love to call out every flaw you see and you were like Matt if I was gonna try to shoot open the door I would never shoot the lock I would shoot the chain I'm like yeah that that does make sense but in movies they also shoot locks so I'm testing movie theories guys get off my back but today we're actually gonna taste it but we're not taste anything today we're gonna test what we'd probably do in real life which is shoot the chain so we're starting small first with the small chain that gets fluted - Dan no respect and we're gonna start with a small caliber first up is that 20 long rifle it looks like we hit right there the metals dented a little bit but not cutting through that chain with 22 long-rifle today let's step it up hey Superman good to see you there a super common caliber that you see in the movie busting open chains is a 9 millimeter people just run up with a pistol shoot it open you'll see police do this when they're trying to get in places you'll see bad guys do this everybody uses a pistol dirt on it all right clean up everybody's a pistol bus open that chain and goes in let's see what a 9-millimeter actually does to this tiny little thing here right there bent the metal let's try shooting it again actually hit the exact same spot Bennet way more not looking good that on the weakest little chain we could find at the hardware store our 9 millimeter cannot make it through a gun that always has plenty of power to do anything needed in a movie is this 12-gauge shotgun and we are shooting a 1 ounce slug out of this high brass 12-gauge shell straight over at lieutenant Dan's necklace and we'll see what happens the chain caught the wad did not expect that all right come on okay well anyway I'm not sure what it hit because this is totally bent that was our 9 millimeter oh it must have just nailed that the chain is almost coming apart but it's definitely not coming apart yet still holding strong this time it actually jammed the chain down into his body but still the chain is holding strong still on it it's just getting mangled and mangled and mangled but just bending and not not breaking I mean even if you were pulling on this you could not get to come apart it's still hooked well it's just bent I thought the shotgun was gonna cut in half it didn't now I have a gun I think we'll it's an AR chambered in 308 7.62 by 51 it's just going so fast this is a rifle then this one actually took a big piece of metal out this one is our link that broke obviously and it was hit at least two times it was hit there and bent pretty bad it was hit there and looks like it chopped in half that was a perfect shot I think this one just broke from being bent but it is possible 3:08 will chop through it so here's the chain we were just shooting what about this chain it's a lot bigger this is a beefy chain I don't really know what to bet on this one I think it could cut it in half also I think it'll I think I could do it yeah [Applause] watch it disappear [Applause] there's our hit definitely bent it so eventually you could cut through it with a 308 but it's not gonna be easy you're gonna have to at the exact same spot probably three or four times it's gonna be hard when you're you know you're rushing it's nighttime you're breaking and entering you're not gonna hit the same spot three times right away you're gonna fire like 15 shots get through that just wish we had a gun that could get through that in one shot 50 BMG I'm gonna off hand this thing it's just gonna be tricky there you know do it accurately this is an unscathed piece if we can find the actual link that broke that would be super cool that's an unscathed piece as well so we're missing that found it here it is I think what happened I think it hit here and open it up so fast that it just broke that looks like it wasn't hit with a bullet it looks like it was just broken so yeah 50 BMG took care of business now what about the big chain that I had in the opening and just for good measure how about a little armor-piercing incendiary tracer yeah that's what we need actually someone chained Lieutenant Dan up and so we are gonna break him free also could kill him but you know what better than we drop right you turn it say yes it took a while cuz I was really holding out to make sure I didn't waste they are officially incendiary or kill Lieutenant Dan I just I winged him right on the side I could see that he's got some scorch marks but he should be fine so you got a little cooked over here where the flash went off ah yeah buddy okay it's still warm actually so you can see we're scorched here so we hit here and I think this just broke off I think that just snapped it basically with just your regular old truck gun your Barrett 50 and some some regular surplus ammo armor-piercing incendiary tracer you can get through any chain in the world I would say with a pistol round you're not gonna make it through with a rifle round maybe also check out these hoodies we
