so last time I attempted to learn one of the most difficult guitar Pieces by pfia within a time limit of just 30 minutes and it was probably one of the most difficult challenges I've done on this channel so far but since youall liked it so much I am willing to subject myself to a little bit more pain and learn one of their other pieces called goat within the same time limit of 30 minutes and this time I'm definitely more mentally prepared Oh and before we begin I want to mention that everything you hear in this video is recorded on road microphones who have graciously partnered with us to give away 40 of their nusb plus microphones now these are my favorite microphones you can connect them directly into your computer or your phone with just one cable and Away you go you've upgraded your sound so if You' like a chance to win one of these all you have to do is join the road practice challenge which is happening and starting today on tonic and you can find that by scanning this QR code on my screen or the link in my description below good luck oh this sounds so cool wait is this in a church o sounds so sacriligious wow [Music] what oh my gosh I love this music video oh my [Music] gosh wow [Music] wow okay okay wow this is this is so cool this is so cool looks like Tim has less tattoos this looks like a younger version of him oh this is such a cool piece oh and yeah those of you who are like calling me out for calling it a piece and not a song where are the lyrics When is it ever sung how can it be a song that's never sung Checkmate all right yeah so it's pretty tough because there's so much going on right there's like other instruments we we're just kind of focused in on Tim's part I found that there's another kind of like a master class video where he teaches you how to play goat so this one's this one's pretty cool let's let's check this out we're going to become students of Tim first off it's based around this General Melody played by the [Music] bells oh you know what I should totally get out my violin and just actually do the stuff that he's teaching so going grab that so just like last time we're going to be basing this off some sheet music that I found this is also done by Isabella aawa so she's arranged this you can check out my link in the description below if you would like the fingerings and boeings that we come up with today and this one is originally for two violins actually but we're going to see we're going to see what we can do following Tim's uh instruction as well so let's give it a go so the first note that you're going to hit is going to be the seventh fret of the low E string and you're also going to hybrid pick the open B with your middle finger so it sounds like this okay he's already doing octaves can't believe this guy this guy's like doing octaves what a Paganini and I heard like kind of like a slide in there and you're going to slide down that's right a slide while letting this ring Miss slid he's sliding the opposite direction he's sliding down so it looks like wow there's a lot of there's a lot of detail that's going on in here okay let's just try this for a second so if I had only done [Music] this but instead it's [Music] like yeah since he's doing harmonic there I I think [Music] I'll we're on the right path here hit the fourth fret of the a string and the sixth fret of the B string he's talking about all these Frets I have no idea what all these positions are then you're going to tap the 20th fret on the B string the 20th fret and you're going to hold all of these notes together while you oh my goodness it's begun why do I do this to myself and harmonic the seventh Frets of the g b and e strings let's see if we can create a similar sort of harmonic I guess feel feel like we just have to get the flavor the the vibe of it the vibe of it is what's most important when we you know doing these like transcriptions [Music] that was not my vibe in the recording I go and I slide between the 9 and 10 so he does um live I don't because it's hard and I'd rather not wait what did he say he just said it's hard and he'd rather not no Tim no we're going to do it we're going to we are going to do what Tim Henson cannot do my gosh this pencil is in my way [Music] that does sound very that does sound very juicy and dissonant oh I love that cool thing about this piece is that it repeats itself it's kind of like a shakon you know like like this box shaone eight bar phrase that continuously develops on itself this is kind of similar to that it's got a lot of cords as well oh there's no slide before okay I'm adding in that don't exist and now we come upon the most challenging but also fun part of this entire riff the sex tupet lick oh this part I do think that Isabella here is it shows off the violin the dynamic range of it I mean we've got that dynamic range why not use [Music] it then you're going to hammer on the ninth fret of a string oh he's doing left hand picado there that's what he's doing he referred to it as like hammer down I was like wait he's not picking where is that like but there's an articulation on that note and I just went back and played that like five times trying to figure out what went on and then you're going to slide directly into our last phrase wait what what what was that cool sound from wow he has like a is a it's a whammy bar the whammy bar that can make his instrument go could you imagine if I'm like I just do that with my peg well you never know you never know why you going so fast okay thank you guys so much for watching that is oh my gosh that's it okay so he's only taught us the beginning well let me check the time oh my gosh we've used up 20 about 30 minutes I don't think we're going to learn the whole piece however we can get as far as we can so um all right I'm going to going to practice this practice this next [Music] part I can do [Music] this All right so as you can see I'm making pretty quick work out of it a lot quicker than the previous pill of your video but before I show you the final result I want to share with you my secret to learning things so quickly so you can do it too and it's something I've been working on for the past 2 years called tonic it's an app that helps you stay more focused and motivated while you practice so you can level up your skills quicker now on tonic you get to be surrounded by others who are also practicing to join their practice rooms and even invite them to yours it's like creating a party in a video game where you can level up together and win some really cool prizes by joining events and challenges on the platform like this current one we're running with Road mics now the best part is it's completely free so download t today by scanning this QR code on the screen or going to the link in my description below kind of nervous all right whatever let's do [Music] it [Music] w [Music] okay not going to lie that was a lot more difficult than I thought yeah for some reason I started with this perception this was going to be a lot easier than the other piece plain God after all of the octaves we added in all you know the slides trying to get it as close to the original as possible Right trying to do it justice I kind of inevitably like accidentally made it more difficult if you're interested in seeing what that looks like definitely go check out that other video where I try to learn playing God in 30 minutes I think that result was also pretty good as well and let me know if there are any other guitar rips you'd like me to try out as well oh and don't forget to sign up for the Road Challenge on tonic and I'll see you in your practice room bye
