[Music] hello and welcome to the colorful and vibrant city of bangkok and we're here for the 2022 total energies bwf thomas and yuba cup finals the men's and women's world team championships and it's all happening here at the impact arena in non tabori in the northern suburbs of bangkok so after four days of competition today on quarter finals day we've already witnessed the defending yuba cup champions china beat the talented young indonesian team three love then in the second yuba cup quarter final we saw thailand the hosts and beaten finalists four years ago beat india by the same margin tonight we have thomas cup indonesia the defending champions against china so just to remind you we started with 16 teams in both the thomas and the uber cups those 16 teams were divided into four groups of four with the first stage being the group round robin play with only the top two teams progressing to today's quarter-final knockout stage semi-finals tomorrow before two finals over the weekend uber cup on saturday and thomas cup on sunday now this is how the group's finished all the top four seeds finished in the top two of their groups with everything finishing according to the team's rankings except for group d where the number succeeds malaysia beat the number two seeds japan three two to secure the seeded position in the quarter-final draw and the draw was conducted after the conclusion of play late last night chinese taipei and india are the only two teams not to have contested a thomas cup final in fact neither have progressed past the quarter-final stage in any previous tournament but the two most successful teams in the history of the competition indonesia and china meet in a mouth-watering clash that's our feature match this evening indonesia the defending champions are the 14 times winners but here china with their team huddle they are the second most successful team in the history of the competition so this is the lineup for this all-important quarterfinal we start as always with the men's singles the olympic bronze medalist anthony sinisuka ginting who's still looking for his first win in this year's campaign he's up against childhood he formed china the undefeated player in his three previous matches then it's the first men's doubles and a scratch pairing comprising of half of both the world's number one and two ranked pairs muhammad then the second men's singles and jonathan christie the asian games gold medalist he's been in tremendous form of late three finals in his last three tournaments he's up against lee sheng fang the gold medalist from the youth olympic games then the second men's doubles and alfian and adiento the asian game silver medalist and world championship bronze medalists up against i think a bit of a surprise selection for china and tang then if we get that far it's the fifth match the third men singles rustavita who has never been beaten in a thomas cup match she's up against the left-hander so a terrific lineup and i wouldn't be at all surprised if it goes to the fifth and final match but as always it's very important to get off to a good start and the first match is anthony up against ciao for china the first single indonesia represented by anthony sinisuka so four old anthony sinisuka ginting has had a torrid time so far here in bangkok three matches played in the group stage and three losses but he is a fine fine player perhaps he's just saving his best for the knockout stage an olympic bronze medal in tokyo lost to chen long who then won the silver medal so he's making his fourth thomas cup campaign third consecutive as the top-ranked men's singles player for indonesia what a responsibility [Music] so to his opponents chao jun punk a left hand up and he has played two matches in the campaign so far and he's won both of them so this i can tell you will be a fourth meeting between these two players and of the previous three ginty has won two of them including the last two so i thought they've only played three tournaments together two finals for the chinese pair so this the first meeting between these two pairs understandable considering how few tournaments the chinese telling his three-time former world champion with hendra won for kevin singer well he's 26 years of age and he has been world number one for a total of 208 weeks and that of course was and still is with marcus finale giving in only played one match and that was yesterday they lost to the greens sauce and jake in an hour in three games so perhaps a bit of a surprise but i was reading that the indonesian men's doubles coach hari was saying that they wanted the second men's doubles pair to have a really good chance lu cheng as i was telling you has been world number one with legion way and he really is a tall man isn't he 193 that's about six foot four and ready to play he and his partner are currently 117 on the world rank it went up one place this week but don't pay any attention to that because they're both first-class players ush1e he's 28 from fujian province he used to play with who we will see in the fourth match should we get that far so they have played all three group matches and won all three group matches and the first on monday against france was the only time they've gone the full distance yesterday they played against demarco astro and christiansen another scratch pairing put together for the thomas cup campaign so now from malaysia and sydney lost from new zealand is the service judge ladies and gentlemen on my right indonesia represented by muhammad
