foreign hello Internet today we have another victim of neglect info repair I've never seen anyone shipping a GPU info repair package so poorly inside of this box is all banged up because the GPU was tumbling inside freely with no protection from USPS workers I was so shocked my cat walked in and couldn't believe his own eyes in any case this is a super duper 2080 from EVGA that according to their owner stopped working after getting a to be more specific card was blown with compressed air and now it's dead judging by the seal no one opened it before which is very promising but I've seen enough of these stickers specifically on EVGA 2000 series cards that were refurbished and refurbished badly so let's see how bad this one is as expected someone had opened this card cleaned the core wiped the center of the heatsink put a small drop of a new paste on the core and call it a day or maybe I'm wrong if you think I'm wrong let me know in the comment section in any case let's see if we have any shorts anywhere t-shirts trousers sucks no shorts after finding no shorts and checking the data lines with the data line tester that also helps to identify bad starter joints under the core I powered on and I saw almost no power consumption these three coils here should all be 12 volt but one of them is not all three have fuses and one of them is blown for some reason let's change the views and try again [Music] foreign two amps we have power on memory which means we have power on the core as well so let's check all the phases real quick to make sure that none of them are looking weird and as expected every single on every Power rail looks good and promising so let's boot the card and see if we can run a memory test memory test has passed and I thought to myself this is going to be another one of those boring repairs right believe me it's not so stick around before I assemble the card for stress testing and benchmarks I have to remove this old garbage but before I do that let's measure it and see what pad thickness we're going to need looks like a one millimeter should do and lucky us today one of you has sent me a full stack of pads as a gift to all of you which means this customer is getting a pad for free woohoo surfaces are cleaned and dry polished card is clean and we are inside windows picking up the drivers reboot and run some tests everything looked fine except for 300 megahertz on the core and the TDP is over 200 percent so let's power down and see what's going on as you can see the one millimeter pad was chosen correctly and we have a very good contact with the core but that's not the issue here since everything seemed to work but we get strange values reported it makes sense to try to replace this little IC and see if anything changes this IC will come from a 1070 donor board hopefully it works only one way to find out right [Music] IC is replaced let's check the 12 volt rail since this IC is indirectly connected to it and I see less than 500 ohms on a 12 volt rail coming from the slot which is too low now let's inject 12 volt into this fuse and see if anything starts to glow and it looks like a power limiting IC is not feeling very well let's replace this IC uh with a brand new one and see if that helps [Music] here foreign it is now several kilo ohms just like the other two great without fully assembling the card I will give it a quick test with firework just for a second and it looks like it's working now awesome I'll now clean the card to get rid of all that silicone residue left from the pads I'll be using a ton of alcohol and a soft bristle toothbrush with that done here's the result the dark spots I can't clean you can see they stay dark even after wiping them with the carbureted cleaner not sure if ultrasonic would remove that if you're an ultrasonic manufacturing company I would like to donate one for me in exchange for a review I would be more than happy to do so so let me know everything seemed to work as you would expect but something was up with the temperatures they seem rather high for my taste so I switched back from overclocking to normal and tried again but there was no noticeable difference thought to myself maybe I screwed something up so I quickly took the card apart just to verify that I did everything right everything looked great and there was no reason for it to stay that hot but while I was testing the card I did notice that the two fans on the right were not spinning as fast as the one on the left those two fans are controlled by firmware loaded onto one of the LED controllers so I launched the Precision X from EVGA reset all to default and Bam drop 15 degrees just like that with that done card is not fixed and is on the way back to its rifle owner and as for you I hope you learned something today and if so please hit me with a like a comment and subscribe for more videos and have a blessed day goodbye [Music]
