hey maybe you've got a really sloping backyard your property is really steep incline it's kind of hard to use you're not getting as much enjoyment out of that property as you want we've got solutions for that today we're going to show you retaining wall it's very versatile as you can see we've taken this backyard that has quite a bit of slope on it had over five feet of slope in the first 40 feet of this backyard so it's kind of unusable we're taking this retaining wall started out at pretty much zero up here and ran it down and the wall's a little over five feet down here on this end we installed swimming pool spa and a great outdoor living space up here with pavers tell you a little bit about this wall and why we prefer to use these bell guard walls they're a modular unit it's dry stacked there's no mortar to break chip up crack this wall is put together one piece at a time it has a very intensive drainage system behind it because hydraulic pressure and moisture is a reason retaining walls fail it's what cracks them and breaks them it's what makes them discolor become molded and you have moisture issues we take care of that with a large intensive well-designed drainage structure behind these walls then they're built one block at a time it's dry stacked they're engineered to clip together so that they can withstand a huge amount of pressure since they're modular in one piece at a time they've got a lot of flexibility so if you get some crazy amount of ground movement at your place even earthquakes which we don't have around here but say we do these walls can flex and remain structurally sound and keep their integrity whereas if you use a crosstie wall it's going to rot on you in a few years or a poured concrete wall that cracks and busts open you're not going to have that kind of longevity and structural integrity out of those walls these walls like i said they're modular they're built custom one at a time so we can build them on any slope we can start and stop them at any height as you can see this one goes from about an eight inch height on this end well we're over five feet at this end we've got a couple courses down in the ground one way we really like to dress these walls up is with under cap lighting and then we use these nice path lights to light the edge of the deck here and show the border to find the space so if you've got a sloped area that you'd like to make more usable and more enjoyable and if you'd like to build the backyard of your dreams in your sloped backyard give us a call the bell garb retaining wall might be just the thing for you [Music] you
