will teach you it and i will teach you it again so there are stuff that i will make reference to and then i will use them back again later on and that way we will cement some of the things that we want to ensure that we would have you to know tonight i watch a great bishop brown amen in the mighty name of jesus all the ministers i mean i see my good friend there sister david scott grace he's not my friend now sir amen don't cover your face praise jesus and sister dunbar i'm saying i'm greeting everybody all the ministers all the saints of god greet you in the exalted name of jesus christ amen as i said we embark on a study um one that i love amen i i normally when we study the book of revelation um it is norm that we go through the book of daniel then revelation but tonight we will still make reference to some of the stuff in daniel if we have to go there and as we go along we will build it amen so let me start by sharing my screen praise god amen praise god amen so it is the revelation amen of jesus christ and tonight i want to say that our objective um in studying the book we'll be looking tonight at an introduction to the book of revelation so we're looking at an introduction to the book itself and then we're going to examine the vision john saw of jesus in the first chapter of the book amen um and we should be able to cover the first couple verses in chapter one today we should get that finished today in the mighty name of jesus let me start with revelation chapter one and verse one as an opening verse it says the revelation of jesus christ which god gave unto him to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant john now there are a couple of keywords here i highlighted and there's couple words that i underline firstly the book of the word revelation i highlighted with red and signified it uh in blue and i underlined which must shortly come to pass now first let me start with the fact that when scripture says that things must shortly come to pass you know a lot of people our scoffers will argue that how is it that jesus did say that and we're talking about john writing here from way in the first century and he's saying that these things must shortly come to pass and we get the impression that in from our normal english language that the scripture is saying that in short time right after daniel uh right after that right after john had written then these things would have come to pass amen but what we need to understand is that the word shortly there doesn't speak necessarily to the fact that it will come in a short period of time but it actually speaks to the fact that how quickly these things are going to happen and sometimes the the the the um interpreters or the translators when they try to translate the bible from a language to another sometimes they find the best word depending on where they were amen and the fact that he said that it must shortly come to pass if we want to look at it and from that point of view we can look at the fact that it is something that is still in the future amen and this speaks to the fact that the book of revelation is a book of what we call predictive prophecy and this is very important because what we're going to realize is that there are two types of prophecy um that exists you have what is called forth telling prophecy and they have what is called foretelling prophecy and and i want you to be with me tonight because we're going to go to some academic you're going to feel like it's cool but it's fine amen because there's some basic things that we need to ensure that we get tonight amen so that is what is called forth telling prophecy and what that is is that it practically is to tell forth what is happening in the present time so there are many instances in the old testament where are even in the new testament where a prophet would come and when he prophesies he's not prophesying um directly about something that would happen in the future but what he's prophesying about is something that was happening in their presence you know a lot of preachers who go on the pulpit to preach and i'm sure even many times bishop uh might go and he might deliver a word of god to us amen and he he probably didn't um in his mind didn't know what was necessarily happening in the congregation at the time or what was happening we parted the individuals at the time but god gave him a word and what he did he did a fourth telling prophecy he spoke about what was happening presently at the time and this is what some prophets do and have done both in the old testament and in the new testament but the book of revelation deals strictly with both foretelling but more so for f.o.r.e telling prophecy which is predictive which means that when john wrote he was predicting things that god would have done in the future he was predicting things that god was uh god told him to write about that god would have bring forth to come in the future amen praise god no the word revelation um it comes from a lot word revelation and it actually means to reveal or to unveil amen and a lot of times we must remember that the new testament was written in greek so the same book is also called apocalypse and it comes from the greek word apocalypse sauce so i remember when i was younger i would see in um some um bible the apocalypse of jesus christ i don't know if you have ever seen it but i have seen it back in when i was much younger in some bibles they might not have the word revelation but they have the apocalypse which is practically the same thing and the word apocalypse is very interesting because it actually speaks to the fact that it means to reveal as before it speaks to unveil i mean so revelation means to reveal or to make known amen in essence it speaks of revealing something previously hidden and and a lot of people do not um read the book of revelation because they think that the book is like an approach and an approach for now you might hear of that term also which actually means so hidden are not known uh so for example they speak about the apocrypha books in the old testament you know the book of ed's um ezra and the book of what was edwards sorry the book of daniel and the bell and there are other books that that that they call it a procopha and even though we don't accept them as a part of the um the canon what are the old testaments are the new testament i have new testament proclamatory you have gus black onto thomas and gospel khan to mary magdalene and all of these other books that they call a practice for books amen but the contrast to that is the apocalypse which actually means that god's intention for us in the book of revelation is to reveal what he has given to us or to make it known to us praise god so from the beginning praise god we are given the most important truth from the particular scripture in the book of revelation the scripture that i read earlier it declared that it is a revelation of jesus christ and i i like the fact that bishop brown said that in his introduction that the book is the revelation of jesus christ and this is very very very important as we study the book amen now when we talk about the revelation of jesus christ it can be understood in two cents one one it is it is saying that the revelation belongs to him he is the one that is doing the revealing so he has all the knowledge about what is to come which is true and he is the one that is revealing this to us and and that is very important but to me on a bigger sense when we say the revelation of jesus christ we are saying that jesus is the object that is being revealed jesus is the person revealed by the book so as i think about that i want us to understand that if we had read through the book of revelation during the month of august amen if you had missed jesus christ in the book then you need to go back and read the book again because the truth be told it is the revelation of jesus christ it reveals jesus to us at the end of the day he is the one that we should see when we read the book jesus is the person revealed by the book amen so up we we see other figures in the book for example we see we talk about the antichrist amen we talk about the angel that delivered the thing to uh to john we talk about john we talk about the the churches we talk about different figures i mean the beast and the false prophet and so on and so forth all of these are our sub characters amen in the book of revelation but the object that should be revealed to us is the person of jesus christ and if we do not get this then we need to read the book again because in truth he is the object that should be revealed and i pray that somebody would get this even from the onset and from the beginning of the book he is the object revealed praise god jesus is the person revealed by the book praise god and also there's another important point that i brought out in the first verse in the first verse is that it is the book it's the book of signs the bible said the angel signified this message to john it is the book that communicates inside and there's a reason for this and before i even go there the word signified there comes from the greek word semanio which means to give a sign to signify or to indicate so when we talk about when when the bible says the revelation of jesus christ that was given to your servant signified by the ninja whatever the case is the scripture is practically saying that this is a book of sign and there's a reason for that i strongly believe that there are three main reasons why uh john communicate to us in science there are three main reasons why i believe that john was able to write the book of revelation and he write it in signs one it helped john to describe the things he saw in his own language and manner and let me let me expand that a bit i mean can you imagine if you were born during the time amen like say you were born in the 1800s amen and god gave you a vision and god show your vision of uh the future and you're seeing for example plane and you're seeing for example uh cars and you're seeing for example uh atomic bomb and all of these things are things that you do not know you is not a part of your vocabulary you are not aware of what is taking place here amen it's obviously that the only way you can describe these things is by using some form of symbolic language to bring the message across amen and that is practically what was happening they they were practically john was looking at things that were in the future we're talking about somebody that was born in the first century amen and he was looking ahead god was showing some things and and we right now the book of revelation has not even in terms of chapter four to the end has not even started to be fulfilled yet amen in terms of from the rapture going forward and john was seeing all of this and the best thing he could have done was to express it in a language and a manner that he could understand and i hope that makes sense to you so this is why there's a lot of symbolism for example in revelation chapter six amen there is there is a lot of speculation by a lot of theologians that there was a reference to stuff like atomic bombs and stuff like that john would never know what an atomic bomb is from the first century because these things were not created the second reason is that signs also are necessary because there is a tremendous power in symbolic language there is a power that comes when you bring across things in symbolic form so for example amen i could have said that a person is wicked that's a wicked man the antichrist is a wicked man and a woman is a wicked man a wicked woman but when you say that she she has drunk are they are drunk in the blood of this woman amen as described in revelation chapter 12 it describes a more poetic evil amen that is taking place with this particular woman in other words he brings the class in such a way that we can get a full essence of what he wanted to say in a poetic form in a powerful symbolic language form amen but the third point which is one of the major points is that the book of revelation is rooted in the old testament and what you're going to realize as we go through the book you're going to realize that there's about 70 of the book make reference to old testament and jewish symbolism amen so as we go through the book we're going to realize that if we if you're going to get a good understanding of what was taking place in the book of revelation we're going to have to look back at times even to genesis even to to isaiah we're going to look back to these books at different points in time and understand their symbolism there and then when we get what was taking place there in the old testament then we can realize where john was writing because he was practically using jewish idioms jewish language jewish symbolism a lot to the book and i don't want to jump ahead of myself but you know one of the things i realized um it's interesting and let me go back to point one in a sense i remember in second corinthians 12 and verse 4 where where paul was writing and paul was describing um his experience in the heaven i i don't even remember that particular scripture in uh revelation second corinthians chapter uh where paul practically was writing about his experience second corinthians let me look at verse second corinthians chapter 12 and verse four um and when john paul wrote about his experience he was describing uh his experience in heaven remember when he went to a particular place to preach and they stoned him and he was cut up into paradise amen and the term he used he said that he spoke things that were not permittable to tell some translators put it this way he used inexpressible languages in other words the fact that he was caught up into heaven he saw things that he could not express he's like he's what is this what is this he's like it was blowing his mind amen so while the king james version talk about uh talk about john being caught up and heard unspeakable words some translators put it this way they were inexpressible language he was not able to express it because it was something that was outside of his vocabulary so in a similar way when john wrote the book he had to write in a way that in a symbolic form so that we he could the best way possible that he could describe what he was seeing and i hope that that is clear so far amen now the true author of the book is jesus christ the true author of the book jesus christ of the rest of the bible jesus is the author of the bible amen um but in the case of revelation it is even more so because john was instructed by uh jesus instructed john to write the things that he saw amen jesus commanded john to write many times throughout the book different different times he would have said to him look here write what those seers are what those seers write in a book revelation chapter 1 verse 11 then in chapter 1 verse 17 write the things which thou has seen amen another time say right blessed are the dead which die in the lord another time you say right blessed are they which are called so at different points in time which realize that uh god was the person or jesus was the person was telling what practically dictating to john that look here what you say write this write this right this right this this what i want you to write at some point john probably was so uh out of it at one point he was even as dead i'm gonna say look here john get up and write what you see amen because this is very important for him to express that now as we look at the author we realize that we said the author is jesus christ but the person who wrote it was the apostle john amen and john john was a unique person john was the the beloved disciple of the lord jesus christ and he was also called the son of zebedee amen uh john was one of the what we call the inner circle um disciple you know when the bible talks about disciples at many different times the bible will talk about peter james and john when they were going on the mountain of transfiguration even all the other disciples stay at the foot of the mountain but when you brought who he brought up peter james and john amen john was john was was a close one at one point you were at the table and they were whispering to john i said boy ask the master you know is it i and then and you know the scripture in revelation chapter in saint john chapter 13 amen where they were practically trying to find out something who was the one who was about to betray him john was the disciple when all the other disciples ran away amen he was the one that jesus entrusted his mother into his hands so this was a very special person to the lord jesus christ as a matter of fact by by doing the writing of this particular book all the other disciples all the other apostles um all the other 12 hadn't really passed away amen but i like the fact that when jesus said there there's one standing here that shall not see death until he sees the son of man coming in his glory now a lot of people predict interpret that particular verse to say that um there's an error in scripture because obviously all the apostles died but what they didn't understand is that jesus was talking about john because while john died john did not die until he got a full revelation of the end of time he saw everything so whatever he said there was one standing he was talking about john who practically saw everything that was happening amen now the book of revelation was written about 1895 praise god and it was during the persecution of a thing called emperor domitian now before him it was emperor nero and if you can remember one of the things that emperor nero came up with even he was the one who initiated a worshipping of the caesars worshiping of the roman emperors amen and even though he instituted this particular thing it was not mandatory but when the mission came into power amen in about 80 and 80 something amen when he came into power he made it mandatory for everybody to worship him now john decided that he would not have and therefore he was banished because of couple reasons was banished to this place that was called patmos uh amen and this is kind of interesting because by the time he was banished in 1895 john was already the answer for the only living apostle i guess not only that he was a very old man and and he was banished to this particular place he's like he was he's like a political uh uh influential person prison so for me realize that you are a person that can cause a lot of problems amen to them and john being the last living apostle the last living apostle around the lord jesus christ they knew his influence on all the churches he was in episodes doing his thing and they took him from there and sent him to patmos amen and and they did some cruel things with him at patmos no the bible was clear to give us information about who when and where the book was written and i want to ensure that there are some things that we pick out from the book revelation chapter 1 verse 9 says i john who also am your brother it's interesting that he never addressed himself as an apostle amen but he brought himself down to everybody's level didn't understand that we are companion in tribulation let me tell you something when one of us suffer amen all of us suffer when one seed goes bad it affects the entire body and a lot of us miss this and therefore we we think that we can make it on our own remember from the old testament time one particular man seen one guy decided he was going to hide the babylonian garment under his tent and by doing this it because israel to lose the battle to a little nation called ai amen they had won a big battle before jericho lost the battle at air because of one man's sin so john knew that we are in this thing together and we have to need to get this even in this last days we need to stick together we need to be praying for each other amen isis in the kingdom and patience of jesus christ it was in the isle that was called patmos and he told the wife for the work of god and for the testimony of jesus christ now you see patmos it was a it was a little island a little rocky desolate island in the roman empire it was about 10 miles long and six miles wide and it was like a prison island i said before was that it was it was like a prison place a jail without bars and this is believed that they would send the prisoners there and what they would do they were forced to to practically dig and marble they were forced to practically dig the stone and break stone can i imagine john in his old age praise god in his old age there breaking stones and working on and and this disturbed the island that was practically desolate and and and and he was banished there for a good period of time amen and this is a picture of of how the present island of patmos looks like amen and and i know it's not a familiar thing in our vocabulary right now to talk about patmos but back in those days when a man say write a letter say i'm and i love patmos everybody knew that if you are there the purpose of you being there is because you are a prisoner so john was saying look here i'm a prisoner here on the island of patmos praise god no the book of revelation uh practically it is said that after the the emperor died amen there was another emperor that rose in about 1896 and he said that after that emperor died at the first emperor which is um the mission died and the other emperor that rose after him he said that john was released because it was a custom for when the new emperor comes into power he released the prisoners so most theologians believe that after 1895 after he wrote a full book amen on the isle of patmos amen then he was released back to ephesus there's another point i want to make mention to you one of the reasons why he was sent to patmos was to shut him up amen the roman empower wanted to shut up um john because he was declaring the word of god but guess what this shows you how god um can turn things and twist things because what the devil thought he was doing for evil god spent it in such a way because the greatest revelation in the new testament was written by a man that was banished on an island i left alone the devil thought that he blocked him out but while he was blocked out he was that that place where he was in the spirit and the lord's day praise god i would i don't want to jump ahead on myself but i feel excited in that regard i'm saying that god have a way of turning things around got our way of doing things where the enemy thought that he would have won the battle amen when the enemy started by getting rid of john out of ephesus praise god we realized that it was at this particular location amen that john got the revelation the greatest revelation of his life again realized why i said it is the greatest revelation because john walked with jesus for many years but something blew his mind when he saw the glorified jesus holy ghost so the scriptures tell us praise god the reason for john's banishment and the reason for john's imprisonment on the island of partners one for the word of god two for the testimony of jesus christ these things jump out at me amen can i tell you something the scripture put this way marvelous that the world hates you you see when you start to really declare the word of god you're going to have enemies when it starts to clear the word of god and it started to clear the testimony of jesus christ amen you're going to realize that not everybody is going to be for you amen but this is something that we have seen in scriptures over and over and over again amen but guess what while i said before the enemy would want to put it a particular way and i love the fact that jesus christ himself and i always said he is the master chess player amen he has a way of when you think that you are winning the thing when you think that you have gotten it all together amen then he just makes a move and he captures your king amen because he is totally in charge when he was in the book of acts amen there was a thing that was happening where persecution came on the church in great i mean and i believe that god probably was the one who caused it some theologians would agree with that amen that was god who caused the persecution to come from the outside amen people started to attack the church even from the outside and one would have thought amen that this thing would have gone out of the way i mean the church would have died or for some strange reason while persecution attacked the church at jerusalem guess what happened the church went to other places we have the church of anthea amen we have the church of this we have the church of that and the gospel began to spread what the devil thought he was doing to win the work of god i don't know what i'm talking about but we're talking about the rook of revelation same way we're introducing the thing what the devil thought he was trying to do for evil god messed it up amen and he showed that every day that he is still large and he's still in charge praise god now the audience of the letter amen was it was originally addressed to the seventh selected church of the roman province of asia now it's very important that i that you always say the roman province of asia because a lot of us when we think of asia we are thinking of places like china and japan and these other places that is not where this scripture is talking about when you talk about the seven churches it's not asia as in asia the continent amen is a province a roman province that was called asia which today is modern day turkey so where turkey is today that is what was called the roman province of asia amen and god addressed seven selected churches amen and and it's interesting that god used seven and i'm going to talk about that as we go along he addressed seven selected churches and we have to note also that it's not that there were only seven churches in that area because when we start going to the second section of this we're gonna realize that even especially for the church of leo this year we can realize that we have to make reference to the church of color say are we gonna have to make reference to the church at higher police amen because these two churches played a very important role in the three churches that existed during that little circle there amen so there were many other churches that were in uh the western part of modern turkey the province the roman province of asia there were many other churches that were there during that time but god selected our seven churches and you see these seven churches were chosen because of each church gives certain characteristics and therefore i won't teach it and i can teach it again so there were certain characteristics typically of the character of the church of christ from the end of the first century down to the time of second christ jesus christ return for his church so what we're going to realize is that within that seven churches amen you're gonna realize that there are characteristics that that that we can find in each of these churches that we can look forward from a historical perspective that we can look at from a personal perspective that we can look at from different different viewpoints amen and it also speaks to the fact i believe that god you chose those seven churches because at the end of the day seven is god's number of completion so in essence he was talking about a complete church the full church so he chose seven but it really was addressed to all of us at the end of the day because again realize that as we go through the seven churches uh starting next week we're going to realize that there are things in each of our lives that we need to change amen but the letter was addressed to the seven churches but in essence it was addressed to all of us who are here tonight on this session and the seven churches are these you have what is called ephesus they have smyrna they have pergamos they have what is called fire tyra they have what's called sardis and then you have philadelphia amen and you have leonisia so these were the seven churches that the the the bible said that these were addressed to now there's an important thing now let's just jump into a little bit more in the book when we realized the first part of the book then when john opened the letter he gave a greeting he said in revelation chapter one from verse four to five john to the seven churches which are in asia grace be unto you and peace from him which was uh which is and which was and which is to come and from the seven spirits which are before his throne praise god and from jesus christ who is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead and the prince of the kings of the earth unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood amen so let's break down this greeting a little bit first of all it was from john we know that but again we see seven characteristics of who it came from it came from him which is and which was and which is to come that's one secondly the seven spirits which are before the throne thirdly jesus christ who is the first witness for the first begotten of the dead five the prince of the kings of the earth six unto him that loved us and seven washed us from our sins in his own blood now let us try to uh let us try to break this down a little bit as we go along the first one him which is which is and which was and which is to come now i want you to understand first brothers and sisters that in the greek that is bad grammar so let us put that first out any greek scholar who and most greek scholar would agree with that to say that him which is and which was and which is to come they're saying that look here is either going to take one is either he which is or he which was or he which is to come what description never use or it says which means that all the attributes of god is true but guess what no john use bad grammar because you want to express to us amen that all of these things apply to god it cannot be applied to a man but it can be applied to god if we say that he which is and we stop there we have a problem because jesus not only exists in the east but jesus exists in the now so which is which was and is to come in other words he used the same oh god how can i express this he used the same terms that were used in the name of yahweh of the old testament amen is a similar thing he was attributing the same things but he was trying to bring yahweh the hebrew word in the greek sense and to fight in the greeks and it was difficult to translate it so i'm just saying here he which is he which was and he which is to come in other words jesus fulfills all category and i guess because it's a little difficult because in our mind we are finite beings amen but god is an infinite being and because god is an infinite being it is difficult to to to really understand what takes place in the infinite amen it's just like it's just like if you put on your calculator amen anything divided by zero we are saying that that is infinity you know what your calculator is going to say arrow try to divide something on your calculator by zero it gives you an error because that's an infinite number amen and no nothing in this natural sense can understand the infinite amen the influence is beyond me and you and that's who jesus was he was if and he was greeting the church which was and which is to come amen then the bible wants to say that he is a seventh spirit which was before the throne and and i like the fact that i go back to old testament because you know one of the things i like about god is that he you know he it shows you that he he is complete into is a complete god amen and he tried to use what you call metamorphic expressions for us to understand him god don't have necessarily seven spirits but seven is a number of perfection i'm going to talk about that as we go along amen so when we talk about the seven spirits of god amen john was looking back at the eyesight of the prophet and he remembered oh isaiah the prophet expressed the seven spirits of god you describe me as the spirit of the lord amen shall rest upon him and the spirit of wisdom and the spirit of understanding and the spirit of counsel and the spirit of might and the spirit of knowledge and the spirit of the fear of the lord isaiah chapter 11 verse 2 and these were the seven perfect spirit they were there it isn't that there are seven different spirits of god you know rather the spirits of god they practically bring about the the fullness and the perfection of who god is i want to get it amen you can't say all of these things combined together bring about the fact that god is perfect in wisdom you mean he's the spirit of the lord he's perfect in understanding he's perfect in counsel he's perfect in might he's perfect in knowledge he's perfect and released to the fear of god god is just perfect i love god i love god did he go on to say jesus christ who is the faithful witness amen amen the word witness there speaks is a greek word that actually speaks to martindom amen a lot of us we think he talks a witness like you go oh do it is no in the greek it's it's a perfect matter and that's what jesus did because guess what happened he he died for us that we might have life and have it more abundantly he died for us that we might have life and have it more abundantly so the word is the perfect witness there speaks to the fact that jesus is the perfect martyr but i like this one the first begotten of the dead i like that one let me tell you explain this one i'm slow down a little bit you see first begotten indie indie [Music] so we'll talk about first begotten holy ghost one of the things that a lot of people get impression and yeah i remember years ago i i as a new convert amen not a new converse a couple of years back i was the new convert some some some some witnesses came to my gate and they were they were trying to tell me that jesus is the word first begotten at the same time are first born uh and they did the quote that they want us to first born from the dead our first born from creation and they would quote these verses to bring a point the fact that jesus that jehovah god they say created jesus and then jesus created all other things and they use the scripture to bring about their point but guess what happened in a jewish context firstborn uh speaks to preeminence and there's a reason for that amen the person who was born first praise god is normally uh the person who gets the birthright who gets most of what is supposed to be given to him true amen so for example the bible talk about in exodus chapter 4 and verse 22 that jacob was the firstborn now me you know that esau came before jacob so it could not be talking about first in terms of first of birth in that context when they talk about being the first bomb in the jewish idiom he's talking about first in terms of preeminence so jesus is the first born from the dead now if jesus is the first born of the dead men know that jesus is not the first to raise from the dead ah we can remember in in in in the book of saint john it was lazarus who rose from the dead we can't remember in the old testament where one of the prophets i think it was elijah when a man was practically uh thrown on his bones and was resurrected from the dead amen we have seen instances amen we are men in the old testament without raising people from the dead so if we were talking about the first born from the dead in that context then jesus could not be the first born from the dead but that's not what the scripture was talking about he was talking about first bomb in terms of preeminence i know why while while uh lazarus was rose from the dead lazarus today is dead while the person in the old testament rose from the dead they are dead today but guess what jesus is the first begotten from the dead because when jesus rose from the dead in 1833 amen from that day to this day in 2021 he is still alive and well amen and guess what there's coming a day when you are going to rise on the dead too so sometimes a blessed day that had part in the first resurrection the word first resurrection and i don't want to jump i know this is in the book of revelation her first resurrection there speaks to prayer menendez we have not that we were resurrected first amen bought because jesus was resurrected first but guess what happened we have preeminence over everybody else amen for those who take part in what we call like a second resurrection will die again in the second day he is the prince of the kings of the earth he says unto him that loved us and loved there his entire stance he loved us and i like that he could have said he that loved us or in the present ten but i strongly believe that when when when john wrote this and when jesus made reference to himself unto him that loved us he was looking back to something that took place already amen the greatest expression of god's love this take was taking place two thousand years ago the greatest expression of god's love took place at calvary and therefore when john wrote the scripture it was said unto him that loved us loved in the past tense because the great expression of god's love took place not today but two thousand years ago and he loved us i love that and guess what because he loved us and the greatest person was played there he washed our sins in his own blood what almighty god i love god i love that now let's get back academic a bit now there are few there are four views of how people interpret the book of revelation one there is called the spiritual or the allegorical uh view in some books you might see this at the idealist amen which is a sibling some theologians call it the idealist some say the spiritual view some said the allegorical view there's another view this is called the pre-theorists are the presidents there's a third view this is called a historical view and there's a fourth verse called futurist view amen and i'm going to explain these views before anything that we teach two things that i'm going quickly we will get the notes and two things will come back because normally what i teach i teach again and we have a couple of weeks to ensure that everything is cemented as we build the building block go along all right so first of all we have what is called the spiritual or the allegorical view and this is the interpretation that the book should be spiritualized and there's no reference to historical events amen it's a full of pictures symbols intended to encourage and comfort persecuted christians in john's day so what we have is that persons who take this view praise god will say that the entire book of revelation is interpreted from a spiritual sense they spiritualize every single thing amen and and that's a bad way to interpret scriptures sometimes what can be taken literally we must take it literally amen um and where there are symbols we're going to realize that normally with their symbolisms the meaning of the symbolisms are given amen but persons who interpret the scripture from a spiritual or allegorical view tend to to spiritualize the entire book and say there is no reference to historical events or there is no reference to anything that is happening in the church today it was just john writing spiritualizing things and telling people that in a spiritual sense whole day to comfort them of the prosecution that was happening amen but i strongly believe that's a bad view the next view is the prejudice view and this is the interpretation that the book has already been fulfilled in the early history of the church amen um and they described john's current day but it was placed in symbolic code so that those outside of the christian family who understand his criticism of the roman government so for example uh they would say that he would put certain things in it so that uh it was only talking about early church history and it was only for them during john's day and it was all written in symbolic form in our symbolic form to so that all the christians back in those days would understand and it would go over the head of the roman people bad view also the third view is the historical view and this deals with the whole picture of church history from johnstown to the end of the world and what they try to do they they tried to use for example reformers would say that revelation chapter 13 amen what they try to say is that the entire book of revelation has to do with the church so from chapter 1 to chapter 22 has to do with the church things going to happen in the church and so on and so forth so for example the reformers uh they used to say that in revelation chapter 13 um the pope there was talking about um nero and they would use example to say that that that that if it was it was i was referring to any person that was causing bad things in their life in that time so that they've already tried to apply it to to the antichrist which is in the future but they are saying that it was in reference to for example the pope are are the pope are are they are nero or something like that so in for the reformers case they were saying that during the time when the roman catholic was in power the pope was the beast of revelation chapter 13 and we know that's not true and and we have seen where this has played a lot of uh role in how some people interpret the book of revelation to this very day and this is coming from the reformers time because from that time they were saying that the the beast in revelation chapter 13 is the pope and and and not the antichrist the fourth view is the futurist view and this is interpretation that the book affirms that the major part of the book deals with what is still future and it is the lord's coming and the judgment that will still take place in the future with an exception of the first three chapters of the book and this is the view that i i i hold to because i realized that the book has a particular division to it amen and there are some things that has happened yes and there are some things that have happened in the past and are still being fulfilled and there are some things that are supposed to come in the future so how i get that particular understanding is by looking at the key to the book of revelation in revelation chapter 1 verse 19 god said to john write the things which thou has seen and the things which are and the things you shall be here after and i slowing down a bit here because what we'll realize is that in this particular verse gives us the the segment in how we should study the book and if we want to study and get a good understanding of the book of any book of the bible it's important for us to find the key to that particular book semen so the the key to the book of revelation was found in revelation chapter 1 and verse 19 write the things which thou has seen and the things which are and the things you shall be here after somebody said before here lies the clear division of the book the things which thou has seen the things which are and the things you shall be here after so based on the three-part division and this is how we are going to study the book we're going to realize that chapter one which is where we are on these with the things which though has seen and we have not even touched that yet amen but that's the chapter that these are the things which though has seen things past the things that john saw chapter two and three deal with the things which are i mean things present and we are living in that particular time so from chapter two to chapter three there are some things that that we're going to realize that when we reflected and we can mirror back to that points to us and then chapter 4 to 22 are the things we shall be here after which which is still future you said before don't worry we are going to if these things are new don't worry as we go along that's how i teach we build the blocks as we go along now there are few rules of what we call biblical interpretation especially in relation to prophecy and i want us to make note of these things number one scriptures interpret scriptures and this is very important because people are going to ask questions in relation to what this means what that means what that mean and what we're going to realize as we go through the scriptures we're going to realize that scriptures interpret scriptures so there are cases where i might make reference to something and then i'm going to go back to the old testament to show how it was linked back to a particle scripture in the past and it brings up so we use scriptures to interpret scriptures number two when interpreting scriptures one takes a literal interpretation first amen john says he saw a man standing amen uh then we should not try to um allegorize or spiritualize it and say the man represented this unless the scriptures give us the key that this is what it means number three all's prophecy in scripture was given by god to be understood and the bible says in peter that there's no prophecy this is of any private interpretation amen so a lot of people they shun away from biblical prophecy because they think that it is something that is abstract that is something that they cannot understand but guess what majority of the bible as a matter of fact more than two-thirds of the scripture is practically prophecy amen and if so much of the bible is prophecy then god's intention is for us to understand prophecy third our fourth we must consult the health given to us by god to understand the prophetic word amen and the help given to us by god is one the holy spirit saint john 14 26 for the comforter you know the holy ghost will teach so the holy ghost will help us to understand and not only that god has given us teachers amen who are able to impart the word of god to us the bible talk about in ephesians chapter four about and and i think verse 11 that you talk about the five-fold ministry and talk about for the any final saints for the perfect and the body so on and so forth so it's telling that god has placed men in the house of god for us to understand so we must consult the help that is given to us for on for us to understand the scripture number five where the bible is silent let it remain silent in other words don't argue from silence if there is nothing in the scripture that actually backs up something don't try to make up something amen that's bad a man a lot of problems i've seen and that's why we have a lot of cults that exist amen because people try to draw references from things that there was he was supposed to be silent on amen and and and i believe that god has given us all that we need to know already from scripture amen and everything that we do that we don't need to know we will understand it better by and by when we go to heaven we will get what wherever it is silent let it remain silent and don't try to argue from silence amen i i tell people all the time and they ask me a certain question and the scriptures don't teach it then i don't try to answer it as i said the scripture is silent on it amen uh like for example it's my opinion that when babies die they go god is going to deal with them gotta have a place for them i i believe that but the scriptures don't say anything about that amen it is still a silent argument and we can infer based on god's judgment and how god operates but it is silence all we can do is shift the hands of god that god knows what is best for each and every one of us if a baby dies then god knows how to deal with that where it is silent let it remain silent all right another thing about our book of revelation is that i've said before it has prophetic symbols and meanings in the book so for example you're going to realize that the number seven is dominant throughout the book so as we are going to study the book we're going to realize that we're going to see the number seven over and over and over and over again uh we have already made reference to one of the sevens already but i'll touch it as i go along but the number seven is so dominant in what we call biblical numerology the number seven represents perfection and completion amen so when we talk about and and listen for tonight is really one of the nights that we are going to be a little academic i did say it at the beginning because i want to lay a proper foundation and that's how i teach because when we go ahead and make reference back to some things i want to ensure that we have already been taught that so biblical numerology the number seven represents perfection and completion you know a lot of people say that it's the number of god but i wouldn't put it like that i would more say that it's the number of completion and perfection why is that because it was the number of god we see very later on about a beast that have seven head amen and and we know that this is not god amen but he had several head and and horns amen but again it speaks to completion of something amen so it's not necessarily number of god but it speaks to a number of perfection and completion and god tends to use that number a lot even from the beginning of creation there are seven days of the week amen seven weeks as i'm saying so you tend to use that over and over again now there are seven sevens that we can realize when study as you read the book there are seven sevens that are in the book of revelation what are the seven sevens one you have the seven churches revelation chapter two to chapter three you have the seven seals you have the seven trumpets yeah the seven figures are three people you have seven vials you have seven judgments i have seven new things amen and and and these are seven sevens that we are going to prophetic symbols that are used through the book of revelation amen mr before i'm trying to build a foundation so there are seven sevens that are there again you have certain symbols that we're going to make reference to as we go along amen and i want us to get a good understanding of these symbols so that we know their meaning from the inception for example brass what is this used in scripture often refers to judgment in reference to strength against sin some different different times came from the old testament they talk about the brazen altar and the brazen liver and everything that was on the outer court of the tabernacle was made of brass why because on the outer course sin was judged amen so brass is symbolic of of judgment the bible said evidence is shot upon the brass talking about uh a judgment goal symbolic of deity i mean our divinity silva is symbolic of redemption when i say horns you say beast it's a heads the normal represents power and kingdoms amen we say sea and water represents people you see d represents year so as we go along we're going to realize we're going to see this symbolism show here and i want to put it all from the beginning so when we start making reference back to it we can say we have heard this before about brass representing judgment who are representing deity silva representing redemption horn beasts and head representing power and kingdoms fear and water representing people and they representing here now there is a blessing upon people who actually read the book so all the persons who have read the book already understand that god has already given you a blessing for reading the book there's a blessing promise to persons who read hear and obey the words of the prophecy the bible said blessed is he that readeth and they that hear the words of the prophecy now i highlighted the word he and the word they because what was happening john was making reference to how they operate in the church in those times and even from this uh the synagogue days what would have happened you'd have one person who reads or teaches and you have multiple people that actually hear or learn and god is saying blessed is the person who actually reads or teaches the book of revelation thank you lord and blessed are they that will learn are here so the person who reads the book amen singular or teaches the book there's a blessing upon him and the person who hears and is willing to learn from the word of the prophecy which is there there's a blessing upon them amen so call yourself blessed tonight because there's a blessing coming your way just by taking heed to this particular book uh as i said there are some things that we are going to be going through but guess what at the end of the day i can guarantee you brethren that you're going to be blessed you are going to be blessed don't be worried so much about the theology and the systematic and whatever i i love theology amen but i'm trying to ensure that we get a foundation so we start getting into the book and getting to the meat of the matter and god touch our hearts in relation to what the book is about amen we will be blessed he said blessed he that keep the saints of the prophecy of this book and you know the funny thing about blessed amen again to show that god is making sure that you get a blessing there are seven blessings in the book of revelation blessing speaks thomas the seven speaks to completion perfection and there are seven beatitudes in the book of revelation number one blessing is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy i said that and keep those things which are written in it for it time is near revelation chapter 14 and verse 13 blessed are the dead who die in the lord from now on yes says the spirit and they that may rest from their labors and their works follow them amen then there's a third blessing blessed is he who watches and keep his garments let's see what naked and they seize him amen revelation chapter 19 verse 19 blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the lamb praise god revelation chapter 20 and verse 6 blessed and holy is he what part in the first resurrection over such a second death had no power but there shall be priests of god and of christ and shall reign with him a thousand years number six behold i come quickly blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book amen and lasting revelation chapter 22 and verse 4. so it starts with a blessing and about i think the second verse of revelation chapter one and it ends with a blessing blessed are those who do his commandments that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter to the gates into the city i don't know about you but i feel that god is about to bless somebody for just taking part in this story tonight blessed blessed blessed blessed praise god now you see as i said before the book of revelation is interesting because while the enemy did some things at the inception god turn it around in the end there were some things that the devil had caused upon humanity at inception the first book of the bible but god spilled it around in the end book i always tell i put it this way i tell people you don't one of the good thing about a christian and one of the good things about the book of revelation is like we have a cheat because guess what we already know the end result of the enemy we already know who already has the victory in this battle amen there might be cases where he might win some little things here and there but the overall battle the overall warfare is already determined and we see it in the book of revelation so in genesis we realized that they were in the garden amen adam and eve and they lost their paradise they lost the thing that god gave him amen and they were very sad about it but guess what in the book of revelation i'm telling somebody that if you remain faithful there is a paradise coming because you're going to gain it back in the book of revelation they lost the the tree of life was removed amen and i like the fact and god had to do that because he had to remove them from the tree of life because if they if he had allowed them to stay in the garden then what would have happened they would have eaten from the tree of life and then god could not have come and died for them amen so god removed them from the tree of life amen so that he could come and die for our sins because the wages of sin is really death but guess what at the end of the day praise god we the tree of life is going to be restored amen the tree of life is going to be restored amen in the old testament the story the first seventh and the first earth was there but unlike the fact that this first seven of the first earth is going to pass away amen and god is going to restore the story of a new heaven and a new earth in the oldest in the first adam i lost dominion he lost the key he lost the fight at your control but guess what in revelation the second adam gained dominion he was the lamb that took the seal i don't want to jump he was the person who was there that actually had dominion and regained power over this earth in the genesis the first bride ah man's help made man got his first help me in come on teacher my god teacher come on teacher book of revelation the bread of christ is going to rule with him so while adam got somebody ah a bribe in the all in indian genesis we're going to realize that they're going to be a new brand and guess what you are going to be a part of that bride i don't know about you but i'm excited about the book i'm excited about what god is about to do now there's an overview of the book and let's just look back at what i was saying uh in relation to the book the division of the book we say are the things which thou art seen the things which are and the thing we shall be hereafter amen the things which thou art seen is from chapters one to chapter uh out of chapter one the things which are is from chapter two to chapter three are the things we shall be here after is chapter four to chapter 22. the topics covered in the things which though are seen is a vision of the lord jesus christ and i like the fact that before jesus did anything else toward the book he gave john a vision of himself can i tell you something before you can do anything with christ amen because you can move any dimension in christ you must have glimpsed of who jesus is it changes your ministry it changes who you are amen i mean a lot of us can do some things you know and we get away with it but i like the fact amen that when even isaiah when he got a vision of jesus he was a prophet from isaiah chapter one he was a prophet in isaiah chapter two you have a prophet in isaiah chapter two in chapter four well in chapter six something happened in the year that king uzziah died i also saw the lord high and lifted up something took place and when he looked at he said woe is me i am undone in other words when you get a vision of christ it changes your perspective the man's ministry i believe moves from chapter one to chapter six in chapter six it was a total different dimension of his prophecy i totally took a dimension of where he was at to the point where i say here am i sent me he was already been sent from chapter one but there was something that moved him in chapter six then after i can get a vision of the lord then there is the things which are which is the message to the seven churches chapter two to chapter three in chapter four you have the person of jesus as the lion and the lamb and these are things that we're going to be covering as we go along in chapter six chapter 19 we'll look at the great tribulation in chapter 19 we look at the second coming of jesus christ and and let me just quite say quickly here there's a difference between the rapture and the second coming amen and we're going to talk about that as we go along and make a lot of people when they talk about the rapture talking about the second coming and then the second coming and the rapture is two different we're looking for the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great goddess the blessed hope is the rapture for the glorious prayer of our lord and jesus save jesus christ is when he comes back amen so we're looking for the blessed hope which is the rapture and the glorious appearing of our lord and savior jesus christ then in chapter 20 to chapter uh we talk about the millennium reign of jesus christ and in chapter 21 we talk about the eternal state that's the overview of the book now we're going to jump into the things that though has seen and i'm excited about getting into this because we want to look at what john saw give me about half an hour and we'll look at what john saw and try to put it to some perspective the things which thou are seeing amen so let me make the point again the book is divided into three parts the things which though are seen the things which are and they think it shall be here after so as we examine the first section of the book amen we are going to be going to take five things into consideration one we're going to look at the description of jesus's return two we'll look at an introduction from jesus himself jesus introduced himself three we're gonna see john's vision of jesus number four we're gonna see john's reaction to jesus that is interesting and number five jesus sure runs to john let us start it in chapter revelation chapter 1 and verse 17 we're going to look at a description of jesus return so it says behold he comes with clothes and every eye shall see him and they also which pierce him and all kindred of the earth shall will because of him even so amen two things i want to point from this he says behold he is coming amen and this is a command to look china god i don't know about you but a lot of people would say that jesus is coming but your life does not reflect the fact that jesus is coming when i say this is a command to look i'm saying brethren that not just look with piercing eyes but look with your life your life at this point in time will reflect the fact that jesus is coming amen it's it it speaks to the fact that if you believe the whole day actually means to to be behold with the eyes ah you're talking about the eye of your mind you're talking about the fact that you are so focused on the fact that jesus is coming that nothing else can detract you as a matter of fact i always tell people about the the feast of jehovah in the old testament and how when they were looking for the feast of uh uh the feast of not pentecost peace of trumpets amen what they had to do was that they had to ensure that they were looking for that new moon amen and the priest would go out and they knew it was four months after the feast of pentecost so at the pentecost they had the feast of new moons amen uh the feast of uh trumpets so what they would do they would look for the new moon and the priests would go out and they would ensure that during that season they'll be gazing up to ensure that they don't miss that pneumonia it's like a full moon all right and i know that four months after the feast of pentecost they're looking for that full moon when they see that full moon praise god then they would run back to the priest and he would blow a trumpet ushering the feast of trumpets what am i saying is that they have to be constantly gazing up to ensure that they don't miss that new moon because if they missed it then the feast of trumpet that would have missed the feast of trumpets amen in a similar way amen we need to realize and understand the season that we are in understand that we are living in a time that we need to be looking up because there's a new moon there amen there are new women that's about to approach and all of them that look for him shall he appear and guess what happened when he comes back the second time every eye shall see him amen and as i said there's a difference between the rapture and the second coming because when he comes back and he comes back in his glory every eye is going to see him he won't be a secret coming he's going to come back with ten thousand of his sins and the bible said on the old testament it was prophesied that we are going to return so every eye is going to seem like even the persons who pierced him amen they're going to wear they were to weep and i believe that john was making special reference to the jewish brethren amen who sold him out to the romans and they're going to wait but the bible said every nation is going to weave so not only the jews amen but everybody else who have rejected jesus over the century are going to weep because they're going to see him coming in his glory so jesus now after he gives a description amen the second thing he introduced himself to john him says i am alpha so here it is that he is introducing himself to john no he said write the things which though has seen and he's describing himself to john and said i am alpha and i am omega i am the beginning and the ending said the lord which is and which was and which is to come the almighty i was in the spirit on the lord's day and heard behind me a voice a great voice as of a trumpet saying i am alpha and omega the first and the last now let me just make a point here he said i was in the spirit on the lord's day amen there are four great days in prophecy i'm going to talk about those in in us quickly you have the day of man you have the day of christ you have the day of the lord i have the day of god when he says he was in the spirit and the lord's day amen you're talking about most people refer to this as the first day of the week you have the lord's day i have the day of the lord which is practically the great tribulation period every day of jesus christ which is the day of the rapture and so on and so forth so it's very important that we understand that it was practically on the first day of that particle the week the time where jesus rose from the dead amen they make reference to that day as the day of the lord so they normally refer to the first day of the week as the day of the lord and this is coming from way from the first century and what did he say he says i am alpha and omega the beginning and the ending so jesus is talking and saying i am before all things and i will remain beyond all things he was saying he was alpha which is practical the first letter of the ancient greek alphabet and he was saying omega which is the last letter so jesus was saying i am the a to the z the beginning to the ending in other words he was the beginning and he's also the ending of all things he says who was and is and is to come and this phrase communicates the idea behind the great old testament name for god yahweh we made reference to this earlier i mean in micah uh chapter five and verse two is just talking to himself about though they'll be bethlehem among the thousands of judah yet out of danger comfort unto me that is to be a ruler in israel who's going forth i've been from of all from everlasting amen and hebrew chapter 13 and verse 8 also has made the point amen that look here uh it says in hebrews chapter 30 words jesus said the same he's the same yesterday today and forever amen so he's thought jesus is introducing himself to john and he's making reference to these things he went on to say that he is the almighty and i like this because this was another thing that they they they the witnesses tried to bring to my attention they were saying that look here jesus is the mighty god but he is not the almighty god and when they said it to me i brought them to revelation chapter one verse eight they show me isaiah chapter nine verse six where he says unto us a child is born unto us a son is given the government shall be upon his shoulder and it shall be called wonderful counsel the mighty god the everlasting father the prince of it so they say that jesus is the mighty god amen so i said okay do you know that the bible actually also says that jesus is the almighty and the way in scripture it says that and i show them revelation chapter 1 verse 8 and i ask the question can you be to almighty's because if you are saying that there is is all if jehovah is almighty can jesus also be almighty then say no that's impossible because if jehovah is almighty it means that jehovah has all might and if somebody have all of something it leaves room for the other person to not have all of it but here the scripture is saying that jesus was the almighty too you know you know he's the almighty too because there's only one almighty and jesus is the almighty god he's the god of the old testament god the word almighty translate the ancient greek word pantocrator which literally means the one who has his hands on everything can i encourage somebody today and say that you serve the almighty god he is sovereign there is nothing that his hand is not on he has his hands on everything he speaks the fact that he has sovereign control over the past he has a sense of the past he has sovereign control over the present he has his hands on the prison and guess what he has sovereign control over the future he has his hands on the future it doesn't matter what the situation is god never is out of control my mother-in-law always puts this way heaven is not burned on and jesus loses throne that cannot happen amen jesus is always in control he is totally in control he is the one who has his hands on everything and guess what happening john here so john here jesus described himself as the one that was is to come the almighty if no one said boy we know that person we know the voice know it they said jesus and the bible said john turn sunset and i turned to c and i want to slow down here because i wanted to make some point he said i tried to see the voice that speak with me and be in turn i saw seven golden candlesticks so the first thing he saw was seven golden candlesticks and in the midst of a several candidates one like the son of man clawed with a garment down to the foot and girl about the pumps with a golden girdle his head and his hair were white like wool as white as snow and his eyes were as a flame of fire and his feet like onto fine brass as if they burned in the furnace and his voice as a son of many waters and he had his right hand seven stars and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword and his countenance was at the sun shining in his strength so the first thing that john saw he saw seven golden lampstand now i want to understand something the bible tell you number verse 20 what the lampstand was it tell you and i and i jump in but i'll make you know that the lamp stand there represents the church now there's something about the lampstand the lamp is not a light and the lampstand is not a light by itself in other words the church is not the light by itself the church is not the light the church is the carrier of the light somebody get that all right secondly the the lampstand can only produce light when there is oil and fire i want us to understand something the only way the church can be effective in this time is if there is oil and fire oil in scripture is normally symbolic of the anointing and fire represents the power of god he is a consuming fire can i tell somebody something when there is a church where there is no oil and no fire amen we are not preaching to this world amen the true light the light is not us amen we are the light bearers we carry the light we are the lampstand amen the lampstand even it just has to make sure that it's having oil and when it's having quite i'm with that practically bear the lamp the light the fire which comes from god amen we are only pushing for the light amen because we are just a lampstand i wonder if in this season the church realized our importance as being the lampstand the pointers of having oil the forces of ensuring that our fire never goes out and no church has itself either grace and glory the grace and the glory is not me and you amen the light which comes from the lampstand is not me and you the light which come from this lampson comes from the fact that there is oil and that there is fire and the oil and the fire there speaks to the anointing and it speaks to the presence of god and guess what happened though it says in the midst of the seven lampstand one like the son of man now this is the old testament imagery of the priests and the lambstand in the old testament you see of the things that i like about this is the fact that and let's go back to the old testament one of the functionality of the priests was to ensure that the lambs the lampstand maintain their light day and night in other words jesus is in the midst of the church and jesus is the one irrespective of what is going on it's ensuring that there is oil in the lamb he's looking at the seven golden candle sticks i better have the seven lamps there's not one candlestick there's seven candle sticks and he is the one that is in the middle of it and he is the one that is ensuring that this one light don't go out and that one light don't go out and that one says amen the gates of hell can't prevail against the church of god guess why because irrespective of what is happening jesus who is the son of man and that is a reference to daniel who is practically talking about jesus being uh practically the suffering god talking about jesus being the the son of man is a title in the old testament and this jesus amen is in the middle of the church is that something that we would normally say jesus be the center of it all as long as it's a church jesus is in the center of the church and when jesus is the center of the church he's got to ensure like the old testament priests who are to ensure that the lights did not go out in the lampstand jesus is making sure that there is still oil in this lamb he's making sure that he's still oiling that lamp he's making sure that they're still oiling up he's making sure that the fire is kept here and the fire is kept here jesus is in the center of the church holy ghost thank you god and guess what jesus was throw that garment down to the feet and girdle with chest with a gold then ban no it's a long garment with a picture of great statue and authority and jesus had that on amen because he was in great authority and statue the golden banner on his chest probably hints to the of the garments of the high priest now you see in exodus chapter 29 and verse 5 but realize and gives you a description of how the high priests uh usually wear their clothes in exodus chapter 29 and verse 5 amen he talked about the fact that the high priest used to wear a garment like this so we know that in reference it is talking about that jesus being a high priest so here it is that we have the high priest that is in the midst of the golden candlestick and he's wearing a garment that is typical of what they would wear in the old testament amen but i want to make reference to something that stood out the most to me in exodus chapter 39 verse 5 the high priest of the old testament they would wear a golden thread like they would wear a sash and around the search it would have golden threads in there so it was it was a sash that signifies that he's a high priest and in that search they would sow in golden threads in it but guess what while the priests of the old testament word data you can find that in exodus 39 jesus also had a sash the priest in the old testament their sash was had a golden thread so into it the search that jesus wore was all gold by god in other words the high priest that jesus was is far superior to the high priest that was in the old testament they played the role at the high priest with golden things sowed into their sash but jesus never had something sowed in his what was just pure gold we signify the fact that he is divine he is superior to all the others jesus john cell care man when him look you've seen the head white as well he's in our customs uh people we don't put that much ah wake up now look on people that are all but in the eastern culture the old people are revered they are considered to be wise and therefore what is that he's here was white as wolf what john was saying is that he saw the wisdom of god he saw god in all his wisdom and might his eyes were like flame of fire in other words he had his jordan eyes he was able to discern between good and evil he says feet were like fine brass in other words he was practically in in all judgment and power and his voice was the son of many waters i don't know if you've ever been to uh that night everybody in canada amen that has that's on the board of canaan and and the united states that great river there amen and they're saying that jesus's voice was so magnificent and powerful amen that john said he heard that and the baptist also said that in his right hand at the seven stars no notice something about stars stars give lights amen but there's something about stars stars also shine during the day you know but guess what happen because of the sun we do not see the stars we only see the stars when the sun goes down in other words ah the stars the bible says represents the ministers in the church i will guess that in verse 20 the star is talking about the angel of the church which is practically the great word in jeolo which actually means the ministers of the church but guess what happened those ministers are in his right hand but they are only referred to as stars out of this mode went a sharp two-edged sword that sword that speaks to the word of god is a specific step of sword in the greek it's not this sword cause more damage this sword is more broader and it cause a lot of damage and guess what it means that the same weapon that we use to overcome the enemy is the same weapon jesus has which is the sword coming out of his mouth and the bible says it's cautious when the sun shining in his strength in other words jesus's countenance was so bright amen that it was like the sun shining in its strength you see there are days when there's a fog and we can look up at the sun but when the sun is shining it's full glory if you look up the sun too long it hurts your eyes can i tell somebody something i want to come to church amen and realize that the ministers which are the stars goddamn in comparison to the sun he was spurgeon who put it this way he said what do you see in christ's hand it says seven stars yet hosts insignificantly appear when they get a sight of his face in other words when i come to church no matter how good i am at ministering i am insignificant income if jesus is not seen i don't want i might have a light but my light in the presence of the great light should not be seen the stars shine during the day but we do not see them during the day because there is a sun and guess what because jesus is the son of god and when he shines in all his glory i should go dim in comparison to the sun he said there are stars and there are seven of them but who can see seven stars are for the much of that seventy thousand stars when the sun shining in all strength in other words no matter how much ministers that you are no matter what stars they are in this time you cannot see them when the sun shines in all its strength i want to go to a church where the presence of god is so rich in praise and worship where the presence of god is so rich when the minister ministers that they do not see the minister but they see the sun shining in all his glory how sweet did this person say when the lord himself is so present in the congregation that the preacher whoever may be is all together forgotten it's not about me you're not seeing my life i pray you dear friends when you go to a place of worship always try to see the lord's face rather than the stars in his hand in other words the stars are the ministers who are in the right hand in the power in the strength of god but when i go to church i don't want to see the ministers in his hand i want to see the brightest on his face look at the sun and he will forget the stars in other words when we look to jesus we dim as does john put it i must decrease and he must increase and what's thrown to me is that john who had walked with the lord for three and a half years he was his closest friend the bible said when john saw jesus all of these things i mentioned when he saw jesus the bible said he when he saw him and a highlight saw him because i want us to see jesus the essence of the book of revelation is for us to see him he said i fell at his feet as dead we become dead to self when we're in the presence of the king we come dead to save when we see him john was overwhelmed by his awesome vision even though he was an apostle who knew jesus on earth he was out of himself he was dead he was like this is jesus and you know you know what stood up to me one of the greatest miracles amen about the fact that that that i that must have come to john's mind is now he realized how magnificent did the the power of god must be for him to conceal it while he was in an earthly body in other words while jesus walked on the world on earth and he was with john and was with peter and he was with all his men how is it that he can seal all of this glory that he's seen i mean that must have stood out in the mind of john as he looked at the man jesus who he walked with three years after two and a half years and when he saw jesus in his glory and he fell at his feet as dead so he was at this moment as i said earlier john knew what a miracle it was that jesus could shear his glory and authority while he was here on earth in an earthly body how is it that our earthly body is a big mirror collecting them conceal all of that glory so john's reaction is simply this john heard the voice of a great water he turned to look and what he saw he fell at his feet as dead and jesus placed his hands upon him and told him to fear not revelation chapter 1 and verse 17 to 18 and he laid his hand on me and said fear not i am the first and the last i am he that live it and was dead and behold i'm alive forevermore amen i have the keys of hell and of death i'm here to tell somebody that amen when you get into the prison of the lord it's going to be consumed it's going to be great but there is a comfort when jesus lays his hands on you amen there's a comfort when jesus lays his hands on you and i say fear not he's going to comfort you that look here no matter what you're going through i have the i am the first and the last i am he that lived and was dead and behold i'm alive forevermore don't fear that because i have the keys of hell and of death i'm here to tell somebody tonight that that is what john saw this is what john saw right the things which thou has seen he saw the glorified christ he suggested all his might and glory and my aim tonight is that we would pray to the point where we diminish in the church today we have too many stars we have too many stars that have been seen but my my my prayer is that in this last days in this last season that we will start playing focus so much on the standards are in his right hand but we will see his face that shines like the sun god bless you god bless you he's a holy but god bless you in jesus name god bless you in jesus name oh praise the name of our god lord jesus what a powerful introduction to this brand new series a revelation of from golden and wherever you are from share with us tonight st dion even in queens new york god bless you god bless you go ahead bless the lord bless you good to have you again sisters mr nelly so good to be here tonight in this teaching session again um my takeaway is the true author of the book is jesus himself and his instruction came from him um to john that he should write the things which he has seen the things that you have heard so he was instructing him to write whatever he's commanded him to write a very part of it that i love of his teaching tonight is jesus hands is upon us i love that part that as long as his hand is up on us then we can be comforted no matter what we are going through having jesus hand upon us he is walking in the midst of the church and i'm so glad tonight i'm a part of that church having his hand upon me god bless you sister pat amen thank you come on it's a patch praise the lord uh brothers and sisters bless you bless you i see you i have three takeaways but i'm not sure about the last one exactly how to say it and even if i should say but my first takeaway is um when um the teacher talked about the type of language that john used now i find revelation to be a very difficult book to understand and i i always thought john wrote it that way so we couldn't figure it out it's a mystery it's prophetic so i have just it's just been a challenging book for me and for the most part i really don't get it but when i learned about the language being symbolic that john some of these things that he saw he's never experienced or is not familiar with them so he had to find a way to write it and then i think about the fact that he had to send it to the seven churches so if he wrote it to go to the seven churches i believe he would want them to understand what he is writing so then when i take from that now and knowing that it's it's symbolism that is being used when i go back to read revelation which i'm encouraged to do after the teaching thank you very much i will be better able to understand some of the things that i'm reading i know this teaching will help me i can't even go in to talk about the expression of who jesus christ jesus i could see the power and the glory of jesus christ and and when that is happening the holy ghost is just moving inside of you so i really enjoyed that but i got a warning also and it's in the statement that says behold he is coming and it says that there is a command in this that we should look and we need to talk about the feast of trumpets and the analogy with the first moon and the teacher said look with your life and i think that's extremely powerful and paul had said to the brethren that we should not be caught off guard so when i link those two it's just hallelujah glory to god hallelujah glory be to god it is powerful and it makes me think of my family and my friends and my community who are not looking with their lives and i'm just praying that somehow in conversations i can make a difference now the third takeaway and i don't know how to say it but there is something about this teacher when i hear the word of god coming out of your mouth and you go and you link i know preachers and teachers they do it all the time because we know it's line up online precept upon precept but when you went into leviticus and you described that priest and you compared it to jesus christ who is a different kind of priest and i hear the words of god coming out of your mouth there is something that it's saying to me and i don't know what it is but i'm telling you preacher man there's something about the word of god coming out of your mouth there is something about the word of god coming out of your mouth and i can't i i don't know what it is but i just want you to know something about the word of god coming out of your mouth thank you bishop for the opportunity to speak oh praise god god bless your sisters party and nelly from canada we are so happy to have to have you always in our international bible study praise god almighty amen god bless you god bless you minister martin do you want to make a comment on anything that they would have said anything you want to add to what they would have said we will as we go along i mean we have just started the journey amen and i when we go into the churches which is a very important part of the study for me which will start next week things which are you know that's the section where we're going to see our lives and see where god would go see how god did with us as persons and see he returned today and i pray god that we will you know stay the course there's some stuff that as the sister says revelation would seem difficult but the very word revelation means as i said earlier to reveal or to me no god's intention is for us to know this because it is the revelation of jesus christ it reveals the object it brings him to us and anyway when we get into the book we are blessed because we must be blessed if we get a revelation of jesus so that's what i wanted to say in relation to that thank you sir thank you uh sir in in introduction you you made mention of the seven spirits of god and i think you'll link that back to isaiah 11 2 was that correct isaiah 11 2 we explain uh the seven attributes of god isaiah 11 and verse 2 was that the scripture is 11 2 hallelujah thank you jesus blessed sir sorry about that um right so the question was if you don't mind no when you were speaking with several spirits of god yes you you i think you drew reference to the old testament scripture isaiah isaiah chapter 11 verse 2 okay you want you just wrote rule to rule it again from isaiah 11 verse rule not over because that was so powerful yes okay so in isaiah chapter 11 verse 2 it made reference to the the seventh spirit of god and let me quote isaiah level 2 isaiah chapter 11 and verse 2 and i you know it it's it starts by verse one there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of jesse so we know it was making reference to jesus in verse one and a branch shall grow out of his roots and he wants to say and the spirit of the lord shall rest upon him that's the first one and want to say the spirit of wisdom and understanding and the spirit of counsel and the spirit of might and the spirit of knowledge and the spirit of the fear of god amen amen in other words the branch that comes forth apparently um it's it's it's not a dead storm but it's really alive because talking about what gives life you know the spirit gives life so it's interesting that he links the branch of jesse with the spirit because the spirit that gives life to the branches and talking about the same spirit the completion of the spirit of god which comes out of um the stone of god and john may reference to the same spirits um our jesus in introducing himself may refer to the same seventh spirit and he linked it back to isaiah chapter 11 verse 2. so i mean we could go into this that story by itself we have done this in sunday school couple times amen but this is a story by itself and it's an interesting thing that we could um every child i got here could look into and see what each of these seven things mean but it's powerful it's powerful as we go along there amen thank you sir thank you thank you thank you my god all right we're still taking uh your questions or we will allow you to share your takeaways i see where over there on youtube let me go back to it pastor marlene daly out of bethel barber hall and said elizabeth she she's saying that her takeaway is the church is not the light but the carrier of the light the church is not the light but the carrier of the light powerful pastor marilyn daly thank you for sharing with us tonight praise god over there on youtube praise the lord bishop amen is just over the place over there on youtube so many comments from your bishop we acknowledge you and we appreciate you sir amen for being a part of our study tonight god bless you god bless you god bless you amen sister jackie phantom i think she's from yes she is from first united in brooklyn new york on the bishop barn she said in youtube let us see jesus and not the stars see jesus and not the stars we have too many stars in the house of god wanna see jesus and not the superstars in god's house amen god bless you praise god yes let us any other question for us or take away amen on is in the zoo room praise god let us hear from let us hear from let me go over to antigua even our newest church bethel united church in antigua we have uh let me see what a comment and share is that ella richards or sister richards or uh smith will let a comment share from antigua tonight antigua come on in antigua antigua come on in until you can share the something bless the lord praise the lord is that just the riches yes it is you praise god my throat here is giving me a real challenge um praise god amen praise god amen but um such a wonderful powerful lesson tonight praise god yes praise god amen um so many things that stood really stood out to me amen praise god throughout this lesson amen and one of them i think um you just read it from youtube about us how we should excuse me or we should see the stars praise god or we should you know treat ministers in our assemblies and you know it's a thing in christendom these days where jesus is like the stars and the ministers are like the son amen praise god how we tend to look at them and idolize them but which really and truly when we when jesus is the center of the church praise god then the ministers are team they're they're not the significant part or the significant aspect of the church and that really stood out to me uh amen praise the name of the lord um there are other points that stood up but um i let other stalkers as my as i tell them my throat just started acting up and just coughing so just continue to pray for us god bless you lady richards even we appreciate you and the others over there antigua god bless you amen god bless you thanks for joining us thanks for sharing even i think we have our good friend let me just hop over to cindy elizabeth amen amen dr pj patrol jones government doctor patrick rosenza share something with us that's your voice patrol drills from bethlehem bethel pepper and saint elizabeth come on in sir pj brother pj all right amen so god bless you all tonight thanks for staying with us uh we want to thank god just remind you that i will be going through the book for the next few weeks may take us even into october the lord and uh and our sole teacher for this this series will be uh minister uh andrew martin and reaction to pray for him cover him uh i nearly come on the attacks amen during the course of this teaching but we want to pray much for him and ask god to really undergird him and cover him spirit himself week after week to come and share with us i mean so so um minister anjo give us a sneak preview of next week amen the second installment what is what are we in for next week amen so next week we'll be going into the second segment of um of the key of the book right the things which though uh are the two things which are amen so we'll be looking uh try to cover up at least three of the churches um so the church of ephesus the church of smyrna church of pergamos um so we'll be looking at these three churches hopefully next week from a personal level probably historical level prophetic level amen and try to see what we can get and there's a lot to learn amen from these churches and we'll see how far we can go i mean for the second section we should cover about two or so two to three weeks to cover the seven churches of asia minor that is a whole information to cover in relation to those amen so that's where we'll be going next week and um it should be an interesting one and we should learn a lot from it in jesus name thank you sir god bless you god bless you and thanks again everyone for joining us tonight we appreciate you uh praise god is this the glenda is your hand up again god bless you praise the lord um i have something on my paper and if in my spirit um minister martin i have a question you said in the teaching we know who already win the battle so why do we act like some people act like they they lose the battle already because you said we know that we already win the battle all right we're talking we context of of me making that statement easily the grand scheme of who our enemy is we have an enemy who is practical remember in in the spiritual warfare we have we have three main enemies we have the world we have the devil and then we have our flesh praise god but in the context of the devil amen we realize that look here the bible tell you already in revelation chapter 20 that he's going to be bound amen for a thousand years about to tell you that he's got to be cast into the bottomless pit and the funding about it you know there's a scripture in the old testament that we're going to look on him and say is this the man which cast the world you know we already know we know we know already from the from the scriptures that the victory overall is that jesus is going to come out triumphant and all those who desire to live godly in this time and live godly in this world we're going to have the victory with him as i said before we're going to come back with ten thousand of his sins amen and trust me if you live righteously and you live a life that is pleasing to him you can guarantee that you're gonna be on one of those horses coming back so that's what i'm talking about in that context we already have the victories just like in the old testament with jacob amen with joseph amen who the enemy thought that he would have lost amen based on the fact that his brother has children to the peace and the fact that part of his wife sold him out based on the fact that he was with the baker's forget him and the butler uh forget him sorry you thought that he would have you would have would have missed it but we realized at the end amen that god always do for his children the victory was his he was second to the fear of amen and he was able to to preserve israel in a similar way we have the victory the devil is already defeated in the end so in the grand scheme of things we know this end of the story the devil is defeated jesus is victorious and we can say hallelujah to that amen he is the amen and i will be a part of the bride of christ i declare yeah god bless you missionary glenda again god bless you we're going to close now let me let me invite you to come in close with us pastor pauline hill who pass of the church of bethel church over the heart in portland uh past hill please unmute and say fossils in prayer in jesus name amen praise the lord thank you jesus lord we thank you for tonight we honor you we glorify you love you god tonight and we tell you thanks lord jesus i pray tonight god that his words go forth as your man's servant taught oh god upon your words lord will keep them in our hearts mighty god that they will help us lord god to live a full and the holy life unto you help us lord god that as we are taught oh god from day to day from night to night mighty god we o god will digest them mighty god will make good full use of them lord just that if and when we are asked oh god we are able lord jesus to declare you unto whoever we are or ask of mighty god we thank you o lord tonight for uh our teacher minister martin lord we ask that you continue the lord just to download into your servants that he will be able lord god to continue lord god to teach us almighty god we know god that it is not of himself but it is of you almighty god because of self we are nothing and so lord just want to thank
