hey guys thanks for tuning into another video episode on forgotten weapons I'm in we're going to take a look quickly at a couple of different breech loaders that I bet you've never seen before today alright so you ready check these out so this is a sixteenth seventeenth century wheel lock it's missing a few pieces it's missing the actual wheel and the [ __ ] but this is a wheel lock that's breech loading pull this back open your breech run in your ball and powder there's a catch down here at the back that holds the breech in place lock our breech wind our wheel lock fire alright we're going to skip ahead a couple hundred years here we have a fairly typical percussion lock all right you know Ram your ball powder down the down the barrel [ __ ] the hammer pull out your cap nope you have a cap loader automatically sets the cap Wesley Richards patent higher the gun a little faster not good enough for you well how about let's try this one this is Prince's patent on this guy put the gun at half [ __ ] pull our latch back here Oh what have we here slide the barrel forward load our ball load our powder in the breech slide the barrel back rotate it this little lever locks the handle in place full [ __ ] and fire alright well so you don't want to ram powder in ball you want to use a cartridge instead we all know about a handful of cartridge conversions to muskets but here's one you might not have seen before put our hammer at half [ __ ] we have a bolt handle on this guy unlock slide to the rear you can see we have our extractor right here pull out empty cartridge I'm going to drop a new one in we have a firing pin in the front of that bolt throw it closed lock the bolt down run to full [ __ ] and fire still not happy you want something like say a Petterson from the 19th century let's take this what would be a muzzle loader when we want to load this guy we're going to lift this up camming a bolt out of the way pull it open now we can get in there put in our ball and powder closing this rams it forward into the breech and that gives us a nice little toggle knee joint there safe to fire Oh [ __ ] fire another one for you how about this bring the hammer back to half [ __ ] lift this up this looks like a fairly standard cartridge conversion except this isn't a cartridge conversion this is still black powder well breech loader in this case load your powder and ball in here this gun has sadly been deactivated but you would be putting your percussion cap back here so that's your chamber we drop that into the barrel snap it down and the hammer here is running a piston back and forth that will hit your percussion cap another cartridge conversion you probably haven't seen this is mark Venson poppin berg patent this is a cartridge gun we're going to push this button in lift up pullback there's our little extractor drop a cartridge in run it forward drop it down you can see our locking lug is right here we're going to drop that into the receiver snap it in place this gun is missing its firing pin spring but you then pull your cocking piece back pull the trigger and fire alright stay with me here we're not done yet here's another cartridge conversion by major Fosbury patent number 26 put this gun at full conk grab the bolt handle pull back breech opens up the top firing pin we have an extractor right here drop our cartridge in run this back down now we can fire alright we'll finish up with one that's quite a bit more common this is a Schneider conversion of an Enfield musket half [ __ ] this guy rotates open and pull back to extract your empty cartridge drop a new one in push it in lock the breech back down move to full [ __ ] and fire so I hope you saw something interesting today they didn't know about before thanks for watching
