Boston LIVE Exploring in the Snow Storm from Government Center to Harvard Square (February 1, 2021)

hello everybody it's february 1st 2021 5 o'clock p.m 34 fahrenheit 1 degree celsius and it is snowing right now i'm about to start my live walk but i do need to set up a few things on this live stream before i do so just give me a few moments before that happens [Music] all right i think everything is set up now let me just make sure everything is in order all right i think we're good let's go the snow finally hit boston i am at the post office square parking garage and for those of you who want snow it's come to boston boston is a boss right now with the snow let's do it snow snow snow snow i'm getting what new york city's gotten for those of you who don't know i am a new york city native and i'm traveling up to boston people said i miss the snow in new york but it has come to boston and this is uncomfortable to walk in right now all right so where am i going from here let's go up this way let's go to faneuil hall [Music] earlier today my feet hurt because my boots they're uncomfortable they had bad insoles so i had to buy new insoles at cvs this is a post office square around me are a lot of financial firms let's head up to faneuil hall i'll just continue straight up here and i'll reach it pretty much lv dawn's saying i hope i'm feeling happy now i am after seeing the snow people are saying that i miss new york city snow and why'd i move but now it's snowing i'm not missing anything i'm not missing anything now all the snow is here it's even snow on the lens right now i gotta fix this [Music] got the snow machine [Music] the roads are impeccable right now choice i'm 20 saying i should go to the seaport district and mit mass ave cambridge maybe i can go across the river to uh charleston and then make my own way over to somerville cambridge if i'm really feeling up to it because i have new insoles now they don't hurt john ps30 with 4.99 thanks for coming back out i had to after i saw the snow i only did a 15 minute black and shadow video for my second channel that's the channel where i do extreme weather walks i didn't do it longer because i realized by the time i uploaded it it'd be too late for people to watch it i think so people want to see stream impromptu without setting it up correctly or wearing the proper clothing to begin with [Music] usually if there's a recorded video i'll edit all this stuff out but i can't do that i'm live but let me put my inside my jacket let me mute this so you don't have to hear it all the time all right i put the microphone inside my jacket i hope it doesn't shuffle around too much it's like right on the zipper but at least it's protected from the elements that way no moisture gets into the microphone or anything all right a lot of preparation just to do a snow video okay how's the audio is it good is it shuffling too much everyone's pushing all the snow around preparing it from 53 state exchange place audio is good excellent and it's inside my jacket so there's going to be no problems with than on the outside of my jacket collecting snow there is a ticking noise that probably means uh i need to replace the wind muff now great let me see if i can get inside and replace the wind muff i have a spare one it probably means it got wet all right maybe i can go inside here one of these buildings downtown crossing or whatever we're gonna see if we can go inside somewhere i was able to go inside the quincy market yesterday up a snowflake just hit the lens yeah i'm gonna go inside and fix it once i could find a way to get inside here hope they're not closed uh yesterday they were closed due to like leaking i don't think this entrance will be open but i can change it over here if i wanted to um oh this would have been perfect to change if they had covers on the barrels i just need a flat surface and some cover to change it can i go in here i think i can maybe not all right i think this entrance might be open let's hope so the ticking noise due to my microphone and probably moisture on the wind cover so i'm changing it right now all right perfect all right i'm indoors is there a bench or somewhere i could sit change things uh there's like nothing here i'll just use a table over there we'll lay this down here so that way i can [Music] change the wind cover and hopefully the ticking noise will be gone or maybe even uh rearrange the microphone somewhere all right i'm going to mute this because you're going to hear a lot of mic noise all right i'm back hopefully you can hear me better i put the microphone on my shirt and we are back in business [Music] it's muffled because it's underneath my shirt [Music] all right this is the outside still ticking oh gosh probably is rubbing against my clothes that's probably what the ticking noise is all these tech issues are streets don't know what this street is down there but it's part of the north end got the boston police over here looks way different than the new york city police department i have to say no shortage of snow removal equipment in boston and not too many people driving around too which is a plus that way all these people can get their work done and clear all the snow nicole porzel wants to hear my best boston accent all right let's get some basting so we could park our car in the car park then we can go to quincy streets and take the tea and then go to winster i know i'm probably butchering all those maybe i got some basting cream cream pie or cream puff oh yeah and it's not harvard it's harvard harvard college no it's a it university there we have the boston bottle across the streets oh find it's more italian-american businesses than the new york city little italy and manhattan so if there's any place that can be called a little italy this is more little italy than little italy okay hopefully i'm crossing my fingers my connection doesn't blow up like yesterday when i tried to do it um yesterday in the north end with my brother but i did record a video through here though mike wallach am i gonna walk to fenway park i did that this morning from the state building to back bay to beacon hill and then i took the light rail to prudential center and then i walked from there to fenway park if you want to see my live stream from this morning but this is the north end snow is finally here in boston but is there anyone getting italian food on hanover street in the north end are going to try to take over their land but i read that he actually didn't say that it was supposed to be a secret midnight rise so instead it was more like the regulars are coming not the british are coming he said no he said the regulars are out that's more in line of what he said not the british are coming but the british are coming makes it a little bit more dramatic got the old church up here man it is slippery here you gotta be careful there's one of these small alleyways of the north end here's locale restaurants someone's cleaning the windows uh am i close of the north end church that was at the end of the revere walk i pointed my camera at it but i didn't go there but paul revere's house is somewhere close by to the left yeah so far so good with the connection no problems with the connection so far here's the saint leonard roman catholic church to my right look how dedicated that person is in a apron and a cooking cap he's shoveling the snow no jacket on that's how it's done in the north end look at that let's go over there and get a closer look unrevealed wow i have to say my hat's off to that guy and there is mike's pastry across the streets uh absolutely unreal cannolis the best cannolis i've ever had from mike spacey and you'll have to stay tuned for my video of the north end to see it take a look at that name that's that store across the street the city now with all the snow and all this traffic waiting at the light oh man those people got a salt spreader salting up the sidewalks another snow plow look at this there's one snow plow after the other here at this point they don't even need more snowplows and look boston doesn't even chain their buses that's how confident they are plowing the snow they don't chain the buses in new york city like one inch of snow they put chains on the tires they have confidence in their snowplows clearing everything out oh man it's getting windy now it's getting windy the snow is pelting in the face ah it hurts now ah oh my gosh oh oh oh no oh no oh we gotta clear this off now oh man oh we are walking over the charles river in this freaking snow storm not even knowing where i'm going this is the real action kid well i kind of know where i'm going i'm going to the bunker hill area joe is saying i'm going to charleston now i am going to charleston oh here it is the charles river you got that brand new bridge over there for the interstate and then you have the td garden people were asking me about the td garden that's where the boston celtics wow i actually said boston in a boston accent i didn't even realize it boston celtics play there and the bastion bruins at the td garden wow td garden night shift brewing down there and we are walking over this bridge into charleston look i'm the first person to walk here fresh footprints now you can sell these footprints on ebay action kid footprints for auction there's plenty of them look at this another snow pile another one another one and over there abby torres with five bucks thank you abby i never seen so many snow plows one after the other in my life and you know what new york city does they just put snow plows in front of their sanitation trucks their garbage trucks so that's their snow plow and they have like dedicated snow plows too but nowhere near like this in boston they have like armies and armies of these snowplows i don't even see where they are coming from look at that even the boston police car had a snowplow in front of it it's like every single vehicle they can think of they put a snow plow in front all right so charles river walking away from downtown boston now cd garden oh didn't want that to happen and now we're walking over this bridge well uh this doesn't really seem to be too sturdy right just got a chained fence here but it is shovel well lina nicholas is in the house welcome nice view of boston says uh wisconsin rails to trails it's a beautiful view of boston oh my gosh this bridge design is like the new bridge design that's everywhere now it's the same as the mario como bridge the skuchiko bridge and now this one i wonder uh if this is a new design or is this walkway like just temporary i don't know seems kind of weird to have this i can't even see the cars on the other side because you got this thing in the way not much of a view all right i think i've crossed over the boundary into charleston is it charleston or charlestown or maybe some other bostonian accent way that doesn't sound like either of those don't even know all right it's charlestown okay whoo another snowplow how many more do we need send some down to new york city they need it wow look at this this is pretty [Music] [Music] so this is called the zackenbridge was the cambridge all right so i'm in another part harvard yard how far is harvard yard an hour okay looks like it's just a straight shot um oh i gotta go this way and then continue walking on cambridge street okay morgan avenue left on east streets okay we're going to cambridge harvard yard why not let's be all bostonian about ashley asking if you could bring me anything i think i'm okay actually you don't have to come out it's an hour to uh have it let's go to have it yet uh where the f do i go i guess this way got an hour to go until harvard great view of this bridge and downtown boston someone's playing around with their doggy dog over there anita's saying congrats i'm going to harvard yes i was never admitted there but i can say that i've been there i guess is this seriously like a bike path some guy just rode his bike through here oh this is pretty look at this let me clear the lid it looks like it's getting foggy again look at this everything is getting plowed one inch is being uh spared here let this guy do his job with the snow [Music] wow so there's the zakim bridge people say i'm going the wrong way but looks like i'm going that general direction on the map yeah that looks like it goes up and over there wow we're walking underneath the highway this is kind of cool i have to be honest kind of neat to be walking under the bridge of i-93 and this bridge over here is the bridge i crossed over getting into the city i took the orange line subway into boston today and i went over this bridge another plow up there who triumph saying go over the walking bridge okay we're going over the walking ridge and td garden is man saying harvard is very far from me but i'm determined to get there i'm determined to get there it's only gonna snow once in boston during my time here so might as well make the best of it whoa use the commuter rail or something i don't know the commuter rail and then walk from the commuter rail to his place which is about a half an hour from the commuter rail or maybe i could just say hey bro i'm sitting this out tonight i'm getting a hotel all right i walked over this pedestrian bridge someone's taking pictures of something anko is saying i'm going to the mit campus no i'm not whatever you want okay sure yeah my gosh wow at least i got company now on the uh snowfall wow all right so i'm crossing over this way to cambridge ave cambridge abs right there right okay okay wow look at this it's so developed over here everything is new here who knew my first time in cambridge is going to be in the snow i know and it's kind of like i come here i didn't expect snow and then i get snow in boston it's everywhere now all right now this is called layton street and this looks like an elevated highway or a train line to layton street mighty bull thank you for the dollar 99 so my battery is at 74 percent i got a message saying that my battery is charging because of colder temperatures thank you spready one two three five bucks waiting for a penguin waddle wish you had a better hat though all right i guess this is cambridge there's only one way oh it is all right got it how long have you lived here your whole life wow i was on cambridge another day but i was like hey let's head up to harvard now yeah it's about uh two miles from here all right that's not bad i've walked longer except in the snow it might be yeah over here is not not plowed as much as a boston proper no she said is two miles two miles to heart watch that hole there i know a lot of uh unstable pavement here gotta be careful cuz you don't know what could be under the snow where should i go up here like a castle a castle there it's out of the way from harvard but it's very cool to check out okay if you're ever here again yeah i mean i'll definitely do some like recorded videos around cambridge and stuff like that yeah even my brother he said cambridge somerville is where all the action is at night all right splits off here cambridge street this is to the left oh no i hate these streets i hate these streets wow you're not the only one giving directions to um this is a strange street across brian say once i get to cambridge street it's a straight walk yeah about 45 minutes from here i think i'm the first person to walk over here there's no footprints at all wow my mask is all wet now it's not good for talking anymore but i got tested for cover before i came here i'm covered free so i took the uh oh to boston i took the amtrak it took about four and a half hours from new york city yeah probably more reliable than the bus now i do yeah i live in queens i can still rent a blue bike no i can't my time expired i could but it'll be hard to hold everything oh yeah my brother has started tires on his so this is cambridge huh it looks very wide well this is just one street i can't really tell the whole neighborhood from one street but this size plow very well kendall squares down there [Music] oh it is all the snow yeah let's clear this again i was saying i'm at the old lechmere station yeah this looks like an old station leech mirrors fall dale thank you for five bucks uh-oh internet connection unstable that's not good all right it disappeared oh there's east cambridge now east cambridge east cambridge not not middle cambridge or west cambridge right i just walk from downtown to the waterfront to north end over the charles river over that bridge i don't even know what the name of it is no i didn't oh it is wow and now i'm in east cambridge actually if i need to be correct in this live stream i have to retitle it walking boston and cambridge because cambridge isn't part of boston it's it's the boston metropolitan area but i'll leave it because it's close enough that's the courthouse yeah looks cool east cambridge east cambridge has a courthouse and regular cambridge has a courthouse too oh there's a fire station it just says cambridge oh yes oh shoot yeah we gotta hurry up sorry cambridge fire surprise they didn't put plows on these fire trucks joe says i crossed the north washington street bridge from boston to charlestown i keep wanting to say charleston but it's charlestown oh cvs is a lifesaver here i got new insoles for my boots earlier because these boots are not working for me right now i guess cvs is the only like corporate pharmacy here i didn't see rite aid i didn't see dwayne reed oh yes strange to see only cvs here which by the way stands for consumer value store wow there's an indian restaurant here royal punjab have you been here any good seven day lunch special looks small in there david's saying cvs is based
