you're not dreaming this is a bookshelf tour a very long anticipated bookshelf tour [Music] do [Music] [Music] hello friends and welcome back to my channel i have been wanting to film this video for over a year now i actually started filming it in january but then i disappeared from the internet i knew that when i came back this was going to be one of the first videos i came back with because it is by far the most requested video from you guys so i'm really excited i hope you guys enjoy it before we get into the tour i did want to talk about a few little details about my bookshelves so first of all they are organized by genre and then within genre they are organized by author and that's how i organize my shelves some of the stacks are not in alphabetical order but for the most part that's how they're organized i personally love decorating my bookshelves with little knickknacks and things i think it adds some extra texture to the shelves i mostly use plants but i also use things that i've gotten from the thrift store too i highly recommend if you're looking to add some things to your shelves to check out your local thrift store for some goodies or maybe grab yourself a plant you can't go wrong with plants that's for sure these shelves are also from ikea they are the billy bookshelves and i have three of the regular size and then one of the slim size and then i also have extenders that i attach to the top so that the shelves are taller i will link everything down below i have had a few people ask me where these shelves are from so i will have all of that information down below i wanted to get this video up and out to you guys before my new bookshelves are installed my dad actually custom made me some shelves that i will be putting in here once those get installed and stuff i will have videos on those as well probably the whole installation process as well as a new bookshelf tour with the new shelves but i wanted to make sure that i filmed these ones because these are my first bookshelves these are like my babies and i definitely will miss the white bookshelves but i'm excited for my new ones as well i think we'll probably either donate these shelves or give them to my husband he can probably use them as well i think that's all the details that i needed to tell you guys before we get into the tour i know that this video is going to be a long one so definitely get yourself cozy maybe grab a drink or a snack and let's get into the tour [Music] do [Applause] so [Music] okay so here we are at the very top of my bookshelf this is my book of the month shelf i don't know what i'm going to do with this in my new bookshelves i'm thinking i'll probably break them up into categories like the rest of my books even though i love having like an entire book of the month shelf i really think that breaking them up is going to be more efficient for me and i don't tend to reach up here for books so i think if they're you know mixed in with categories i'll probably pick up more of these because i haven't read very many of them and i think it's because they're way up here so yes before we get into them though i do have my little tea dragon society stuffed animal they're so cute i love them so much i don't again i don't know what i'm gonna do with these in my new shelf but we will figure it out i don't have a ton that i've read up here but i do have a few favorites up here that i will mention and the first one is cersei by madeleine miller one of my favorite books of all time i absolutely love cersei it is such a beautiful book and beautifully written i just love cersei and her whole story even though it the ending wasn't exactly like the original greek mythology i loved how madeline miller changed it and i just it's such a good book i know it's not for everyone but this is definitely my type of book and i will continue to read madeleine miller everything that she puts out because of this one another one of my favorites is the seven husbands of evelyn hugo by taylor jenkins read i actually just finished reading this one recently so it's very much still on my brain definitely one of her best books it's probably like my second or third favorite i can't quite decide but i absolutely love it and i love evelyn hugo as a character i just was completely entertained the whole time i loved how each section was separated into which husband she was with at that time so just love this book highly recommend it if you haven't read it yet you definitely should i feel like there's a reason that so many people love this book i guess we can talk about the books that i'm most excited to read on this shelf which are the vanishing half the last flight and transcendent kingdom this one is so pretty i was actually really surprised that book of the month did a foiled cover i thought for sure that it was going to be just a normal cover like the rest of their books so i'm really glad that they did that because i just love it it looks so pretty so yeah these are some of my most anticipated books on this shelf [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] all right so we are now on the first official shelf of my bookshelf i have a plant on this side of the shelf uh to kind of add some interest and i love it this is a lipstick plant it's so beautiful and it just hangs really nicely on a bookshelf but this is my horse shelf as well as my thriller shelf not a very big category one that is kind of a new interest for me i love thrillers and i didn't start reading thrillers until this past year so it's definitely a new genre for me and one that i really enjoy and same with as well so let's get into it okay let's start with grady hendrix i've only read two of these books a poor store and the final girl support group and it was kind of a mixed bag for me i loved horror store didn't really love the final girl support group but i absolutely love all these covers i think his books are super unique and how a lot of them have things on the inside i just think it's a really unique concept and i think it's one that translates really well to the horror genre okay the next books i want to talk about are stephen king i have a very small stephen king collection with only two books i definitely want to continue to read stephen king i really love his writing even though i didn't really love it i absolutely loved the institute this was such a good book and i feel like it's severely underrated it's kind of dystopian future it has kids in it that are taken to this institute where they are tested on and it's just so good it reminded me a lot of stranger things so if you like stranger things i feel like you would love the institute and it was not my favorite it's one of those books that i don't regret reading but it's over a thousand pages and i just i gave it i think a two stars so i don't know i'm glad i read it because it's you know a classic horror book but i just did not love the ending it wasn't my thing but it definitely does not deter me to read more of his books in the future writing is incredible even in this book i thought it was such good writing moving on to my thriller section i actually have a ton of favorites in this section so i'm going to pull those out and show them to you here they are my favorite thrillers starting with no exit by taylor adams this is just such a fast-paced thriller it takes place in the rocky mountains and it's by far the fastest paced thriller i've ever read i know it's being made into either a movie or a tv series and i think it would translate really well to that it's just such a fun book and definitely one that i think would be good for like someone who's starting reading thrillers because it's really exciting there's not like a lot of mystery behind it it's just all thrill moving on to the one by john mars i was so pleasantly surprised by this book another really fast-paced book so if you're looking for a fast-paced book i feel like this one would be great to get you out of a reading slump and it's about a dna test where it tells you exactly who your soulmate is based on your dna it has multiple perspectives in it and all of them have twists in them and there's like twists throughout the entire book so i just i just love it it's so good next is the silent patient this is a debut novel and i was so impressed with this novel i thought it was so well done for being a debut novel and the ending was incredible this was actually the first thriller that i had ever read and it sucked me in i read so many thrillers after this one the ending has such a great twist and i just think it's a fun ride to go on as well next is behind her eyes by sarah pinbrow this is my favorite thriller ever i think mostly because the ending of this was just i i came out of left field for me in a good way and i never saw it coming in a million years i feel like some people would think this is a domestic thriller but it's so much more than that i'm not really into domestic thrillers as much but this one has such a cool twist on it that i don't really classify it as a domestic thriller because of that reason and lastly i had to bring up riley sager i feel like riley sager is such a good thriller writer he's someone that i think you can kind of guarantee to have a good time while reading his books and my favorite of his is lock every door this takes place in an old hotel and you kind of feel like there might be some weird paranormal stuff going on i loved the atmosphere of this book and it was just such a fun book to read all right this next shelf has mythologies and folk tales and stuff like that just short story sort of and also my sci-fi which is a mix of adult and young adult because i don't have very many so yes let's start with my mythology books this book i always keep in the back of this shelf because it's so big this is mythologica it's an encyclopedia of gods monsters and mortals from ancient greece the art style of this is just so beautiful so it talks about all of the gods well maybe not all of them but most of the gods and the monsters and just stories from greek mythology and it's just such a fun book i feel like if you like greek mythology you will love this it's so fun to flip through and i just think it's absolutely stunning right so i had to mention norse mythology by neil gaiman this is such a good book and i love norse mythology i am part norwegian so whenever there's anything about norse mythology i always try to pick it up the way that neil gaiman tells these stories is exciting and funny absolutely hilarious loki in this is just hysterical so if you're a loki fan definitely recommend this we also have mythos by stephen fry i feel like this is the ultimate greek mythology book his writing is another that is super fun and funny when he's telling the stories and the audiobook of this is just so good i definitely want to read along to these next time i decide to read them because they have pictures that go along with them and i just he's so good i want to collect all of his books in this kind of like series that he's writing so good and extremely consumable if you're kind of unsure about greek mythology this is the best place to start another one i wanted to mention again it's nordic so i have to buy anything that's nordic these are folk tales from norway sweden finland iceland and denmark so all of scandinavia i feel like this will be so much fun to read during the winter seasons so yeah i just can't wait to read these this is definitely a book that i could see myself reading to kids if i ever have them kind of sharing our heritage um through these old folk tales moving on to my sci-fi section again it's a really small category so the first one i wanted to mention was clara and the sun this is another recent read for me and one that i really enjoyed i was kind of surprised i didn't know how i was going to like it going into it because i know it's kind of slower paced but i thought it was really good and there was a lot of really interesting conversations about what makes someone a human i think clara as a main character was super interesting she is an ai in this and i just loved her it's the first story that i've heard where ai isn't trying to take over the world so i really enjoyed that i also want to mention the illuminae files series i read this one a few years ago but i really enjoyed it these are all mixed media and i just had so much fun reading these books it has everything you could want in a sci-fi series also the audiobooks for these kind of reminded me of a movie like i could see everything playing out through the audiobooks okay the last shelf on this row is adult fiction i kind of have a little bit of a dark academia shelf like books that remind me of dark academia or actually are dirk academia and then i have all of the other adult fiction section a lot of like romance on this side it's kind of like mix-matched shelf i also have a little statue of david up here i felt like he matched the dark academia vibe so he's up here i haven't really read very many of these books i have read bunny i didn't love it i thought it was okay uh but i did want to mention the secret history this is a first edition i was told by one of you in the comments that this is a super rare book i don't know if that's true but someone told me that so i wanted to show this off i got this at a used bookstore and i thought it was such a cool copy of the book it has this really cool plastic sleeve over it and i just think like it's such a cool book i love it so much definitely want to read this book soon as well as all of these like really i want to read more dark academia books i just haven't gotten to it yet all right so one of my favorite historical fiction books that i've read is all the light we cannot see by anthony doerr this was one of my favorite books of last year so i wanted to mention it i don't tend to read a lot of historical fiction books but this one was really intriguing to me um yeah i really enjoyed this one it was super sad heartbreaking but just such a good book it takes place during world war ii in paris one of my favorite romance books that i've ever read is beatride i loved the romance in this it was also just such an interesting romance book because there was an interesting plot behind it whereas most romances that i read it's like all about the relationship this actually had some like background stuff going on which i really enjoyed i have the two other taylor jenkins read books that i have on this shelf and my favorite is daisy jones and the six and malibu rising is kind of tied with the seven husbands of evelyn hugo um i loved both of them for different reasons but daisy jones in the six is my favorite i absolutely bald crying in this book malibu rising is her newest book and i've heard a lot of people like it and don't like it but for me this was such a relatable book as far as what the characters go through and their trauma and stuff that i just felt so heard in this book and that's why i loved it so much [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] moving down a row this first shelf is my never night shelf so i have two different editions but i also have these really cute decorations i have a little map from the series and this is on a wood plaque and then i also have a little mia corvair necklace and then a little pop funko mia figurine as well and all of these little things i got from the illumicrate special edition box that came out so this particular edition came with the dark dawn box as well it is such a gorgeous book i absolutely love the cover it's so beautiful and it wraps around to the back it also has really pretty yellow sprayed edges the inside cover i don't know if you'll be able to tell but it has a cat on it it's on this matte black background it's so pretty it's also of course signed so yes i got this edition in that box and i really wanted to complete the collection with the other two as well so i did get god's grave and never night both of these are again the luma crate editions but they're based off of the uk covers they have black sprayed edges as well and i just love them i love having all of those in my collection i just think they're some of the most beautiful covers and then i also have the regular us editions as well the only special thing about this one is that this is a signed first edition that i got from barnes noble i accidentally got it not even knowing so it is signed as well but yeah that is my little nevernight shelf moving on to this next shelf this is the start of my adult fantasy series section starting off we have the bear and the nightingale and the winter of the witch this is technically the third book in the series but i found this at my local bookstore and it was signed so i decided to pick this one up even though i don't have the second one but i really enjoyed this first one it was a five star read for me so i highly recommend this series for people who like fairy tale or russian inspired books it's extremely atmospheric and i really enjoyed reading this book so i'm excited to continue on with the series i also have the full diviner series all in paperback but in two different editions which kind of drives me crazy this was such a spooky book to read another five star book for me but i haven't continued the series so hopefully i'll get to it soon i also have these two which are some of my favorite book covers ever to be made i think they're absolutely gorgeous the colors the vibrancy they just match the story so well these have creatures called gin which are genie-like creatures in them and the magic revolves around those another five star book for me i really enjoyed this first one a lot i also have the poppy war which is one of my favorite adult fantasy books absolutely loved this loved everything that this book talked about it was intense and sad and there was definitely some disturbing scenes in this book but it was absolutely incredible and i feel like it deserves way more attention than it has another series that i think deserves more attention than it has is the last queen series love this so much if you love outlander or the king arthur's story then you'll love this one as well it's such a beautifully written story and so densely packed with history it was just such a good book this next shelf is the end of my adult fantasy series section and as you can tell i have a lot of brandon sanderson he's one of my favorite if not my favorite adult fantasy writers i just adore his writing his worlds everything about the books that he creates but before we get into him let's talk about these ones which are some really cool covers i love how these look together i also enjoy how they kind of add some dimension to the bookshelves because they're a little smaller than most of the adult fantasy books that i have so i really like that as well just aesthetically but these are some really great shorter fantasy stories i've only read the first two but i really enjoy them and i can't wait to continue on with this series especially because they're so short it's definitely a series to check out if you want to get into adult fantasy okay so here we are with my stormlight archive books and i have read the first two and absolutely adored them they're some of my favorite books of all time i just love them these hardback editions are really cool because they have one this beautiful cover but they also have character art on the inside which is just gorgeous and there's also a map on the inside of the dust jacket it's also really cool because brandon sanderson does put illustrations throughout these big hefty books which is really nice because it really breaks it up and helps you to understand this world a little bit better so i just love these books so much and i'm really happy that i started collecting the hardback versions of them because they're just so cool and beautiful and i then have his other series some of his other series over here i have the mistborn series of course which are beautiful i have not read a darker shade of magic yet but i plan on it soon i have read though vicious and it was so good it's like an x-men superhero it's such a good book highly recommend this was my first ve schwab book and i really enjoyed it this is a collector's edition it has a really cool inside cover as well okay so this last shelf on this row is my adult fantasy standalone section i don't have a ton of books in this category this is it but i do love reading adult standalone fantasy books they're some of my favorites to read i of course have some neil gaiman up here i really like collecting his books and trying to get like cool editions of them like this good omens one this television show is one of my favorites of all time and then this edition of the ocean at the end of the lean which is illustrated on the inside with just black and white images they are really cool and i feel like fit the story we also of course have the alice hoffman books this is all about a witch family starting from the salem witch trials and going up to the 90s i think these books look so pretty all together with the gold i wish i had a hard back cover of this one but that's okay they look really pretty together we also of course have naomi novik which is one of my favorite adult fantasy writers at least from the two that i've read which is uprooted and spinning silver this edition of spitting silver is so beautiful i absolutely love it i wish i had the matching uprooted cover but that's okay it's like really expensive i looked it up hundreds of dollars so i probably won't own that but i at least have the spinning silver one which is so beautiful this is one of my favorite books of all time as well i just absolutely loved this i also do have two versions of the starless c mostly because i bought the black version and then this one was sent in a book box so i just have two of them but this one is such a pretty edition of this book it didn't come with a dust jacket it just came like this but it's so pretty and last but certainly not least is the invisible life of addie libreo this was probably my favorite book of 2020 so i had to mention it definitely one of the most beautiful books and again ve schwab's writing i feel like it's at its best in this book [Music] do [Music] [Music] okay so the next row this first shelf is my like self-care spiritual shelf so i have my bible and then i have these scripture journals which are some of my favorite they are such beautiful scripture journals i love them look at how gorgeous they are these are the illuminated scripture journals you can find them on amazon if you're interested i have this really cute star wars 40 day devotional which is really cool he approaches the bible from a star wars standpoint which was really funny and cute as you can tell this is pretty old but i really enjoyed this one i also have my little lotus flower that's supposed to have a candle in it but i just like it like that i also have this really pretty heart stone that my aunt got me so i keep that on here as well and then i have a few cs lewis books i really want to collect all of his books eventually but these are the ones that i have for now so that is that little shelf moving over to one of my harry potter shelves i have three of them but i really want to try to condense them down in my new bookshelves so hopefully i'll be able to do that first of all we have the illustrated editions of the harry potter books this last one just came out in 2020 early 2020 so i got that then and then i also have the uk editions as well that came in this box set there's a look at the cover of that one i got this little metal thing in a book box which i think is really cute and then i have this crystal that i got from a thrift store as well as these little brass vases and i thought they looked so magical on this shelf okay so this next shelf is kind of like dumbledore themed a little bit i also have my original harry potter books over here i can't for the life of me find the final book i don't know what happened to it and i'm really sad as you can tell these books are pretty beat up i read the heck out of these when i was little i'm really happy that i still have them even though they are kind of a mess all of these decorations i got in subscription boxes as well so we have the philosopher's stone i also have this little plant which looks like little i don't know to me it looks kind of like a magical plant because it's so weird and then look this little box is actually an old cigar box but but someone kind of redid it and put this little handle on it and put this picture on it but i just use it for decoration this little portrait of dumbledore which is one of my favorite harry potter items that i have i do want to eventually frame this but i haven't yet we also have the slytherin pendant as well as this replica of the life and lies of albus dumbledore this is actually just a notebook but i think it's so cute and so i just keep it on my shelf this is the inside and then i have the elder wand as well oh i forgot to mention that i did receive this edition from my mom for christmas so this is the minalima illustrated edition and i'll talk more about her illustrated books a little bit later because i have a few more in my collection but they're really gorgeous okay and this is my final harry potter shelf it's kind of a mess with like mix match stuff most of the books on here are from like the hogwarts library and stuff like that so i do have the fantastic beasts and where to find them i have like three different versions of that and then i have the tales of beetle and bard i do have two different versions of that and then of course quidditch through the ages but i think my favorite book on this shelf is one that's actually not officially harry potter which is the sorcerer's companion i had this book when i was little and first started reading harry potter i got rid of it though but i ended up finding this at a local used bookstore and i had to get it because there were so many memories attached to it i really wish that this was like leather bound because the outside i feel like is deceiving the inside is so cool so it has a bunch of different creatures from the harry potter world as well as places and different types of like harry potter learnings like divination and spells and charms and stuff like that i just think the inside of this is so cool so yeah definitely not a very appealing outside but i had to get it i remember reading this book like crazy as a little girl so i have a little crystal over here as well as a fake advanced potion making box that has some little stuff in it as well again this was from a subscription box as well as the pygmy puff as well as these two items that came in boxes i also have a little chocolate frog in here as well as some birdie bots beans and the time turner you might be wondering why i have a little hedgehog up here and i he just reminded me of a magical creature so i put him up here as well [Music] [Applause] do [Music] so [Music] so [Music] okay so the first shelf we have on this row is my holly black section one of the reasons that i decided to collect all of them was because this series actually has a really special place to me sentimentally as well i had finished reading the wicked king and i absolutely loved it i wanted to talk about it that was the reason that i started my youtube channel it's because i really wanted to have someone to talk about books with and this was the series that made me realize that i wanted to talk about books it also really got me into reading more y a as well so yeah so starting off with this side this is the illumicrate edition of the folk of the air series again they had a special edition box that i got that came with the first book and they also came with these really pretty dust jackets here's what this looks like on the inside it's so pretty they all have sprayed edges as well i felt kind of weird just having one edition of the curl prince so i ended up getting the other two to match the set as well all of the insides are different they're so pretty and they all came with a signed plate as well moving on to these ones these are the regular us editions which have a white cover and a black inside i originally just had the queen of nothing edition of this one because i couldn't find the barnes noble edition which i had these two in and so it just drove me crazy that they all look different and so again i got all of the other copies as well lastly we have the fairy loot edition and again this came in a special edition box that i had ordered and so i wanted to complete the collection of these as well so these are really pretty they didn't come with a dust jacket but they have really cool sprayed edges and just beautiful cover design so there these two are and here's the edges such cool books and then i also have two of her other books up here as well this is my graphic novel section we actually have more graphic novels than this but a lot of them my husband has up on his bookshelves but let's start with the decorations really quick so i have my little winter cactus here which is a cactus that blooms in the winter time it has little flowers that will pop out um a really cool plant i have i actually have two of them this one is white and my other one is pink and i feel like they just look really good on bookshelves they're really easy to take care of so i really love those and then i also have this little brass bowl that i got from the thrift store as well the first book that i want to talk about is the boy the mold the fox and the horse and this is such a sweet book it has some incredible quotes in it flip to any page and you can find a quote that will just hit you so hard so this one says imagine how we would be if we were less afraid it's just so sweet i've read it multiple times it's just the best book to pick up when you need a little hope in your life or a little love in your life i also have the prince and the dressmaker this was such a beautiful graphic novel as well i loved the messages in it also the illustrations are so beautiful and colorful i absolutely love the colors that are used throughout this we also have pumpkin heads which is the perfect fall book it has such a sweet relationship in it it's so cute really portrays this really cool pumpkin patch setting i absolutely loved this book i also have pylo of the woods the illustration style of this one is gorgeous absolutely stunning i really really adore the colors that are used in this one as well and it's so planty and foresty which is really fun as well heart stopper of course which is a really sweet story and has really cute romance in it this one's in black and white but i do really like the illustration style in this one as well and of course we couldn't talk about graphic novels without talking about my favorite graphic novel artist which is katie o'neill her books are not only beautiful but they're beautifully told as well this is probably my favorite illustration style out of all of them each page is like a work of art it's so stunning and the stories are so precious and sweet and cute so love these we also have daytripper which is my favorite graphic novel of all time i don't think this will ever be beat i just have such an emotional connection to this book and it's one that i recommend to everyone it has such amazing messages in it about life and death and living your life to the fullest it's just such a good book it's definitely a little more of a detailed illustration style on the inside but i really really love this book highly recommend it the last one i want to mention is actually my husband's favorite graphic novel series which is why the last man so we technically have the whole entire series but we just have the first one down here since that's the one that i need to read this is about a man who lives in a post-apocalyptic world with just women it definitely is an interesting concept i had to mention that one as well okay this next one is my classic shelf i have two classic shelf this one has my most beautiful book covers out of all of them the other one still has really pretty books but these are more like vibrant and colorful on this one i'm going to go through this pretty quickly because i do want to do a classics collection video where i talk about all of my classics i of course have to talk about winnie the pooh this is the barnes noble edition of it and it's so beautiful i love this book i love the bright yellow love these stories this edition has some really pretty colored illustrations on the inside and also has both the winnie the pooh and the house apple corner stories it also has a map of the hundred acre woods and it's just a beautiful book the next one i have is probably the most special book that i have on my entire shelves this has so much sentimental value to it i used to read this all the time with my grandma and i would also just sit at her house and open this book up and read these fairy tales as a kid they're really dark and sometimes disturbing but i just loved them as a kid it's also kind of cool because it is technically an old library book so it has you know the old library writings on it and the old library card in the back which says october 22nd 75. so it's such a cool book to have and i'm so happy that i still have this one because i don't really want to mess that book up very much because it's kind of falling apart i do have the newer version as well which is really pretty it has some illustrations on the inside as well but in color so yes here is my little collection of the mina lima illustrated books that she's done so these are her classic editions they have really cool interactive illustrations on the inside and i really can't wait to read these in the future because they're so interesting and cool and they like pull out i just i just love her editions so much so i have only three of them but i do want to try to collect all of them i also have some of my favorite books in here as well so we have the great gatsby which is a penguin classic edition i have the picture of dorian gray which is the cloth bound penguin classic i have wuthering heights which is the wordsworth edition and then lastly i have little women which is the puffin blooms edition as well all of these are my favorite books of all time i absolutely love every single one of these this is the last classics shelf that i have and we have this big plant which i love it's so cute it's leaves are so twisty and adorable i love them i also have a little stone bookend most of the shelf contains these penguins classics deluxe editions which are really cool editions of these books they're kind of dark and mysterious and twisty they really remind me of tim burton style so we of course have pride and prejudice by jane austen which is one of my favorite books as well and this one is jane eyre which i think has the coolest cover this is a heartbreaking just tragic story and i feel like this cover just goes with the story so well we also have a few shirley jackson books which she's probably my favorite classic horror authors her stories are just so classic you can tell that a lot of modern day authors get so much from her books so i have we have always lived in the castle and the haunting of hill house both of them are just amazing this is like the original haunted house story it's so good so yes highly recommend these books they're not too scary either they're just the right amount of creepy i also have this hard back of 100 years of solitude i don't have the dust jacket to this one or these other two but i absolutely love this book i really want to reread this one in the future i read this when i was in high school so yes hopefully we can get to this one soon [Music] [Music] [Applause] okay so this is my throne of glass shelf and i have the whole throne of glass series as well as one of the court of thorns and roses books i'm currently in the middle of this series i'm on the second to last which is nice if you're wondering why these sleeves look so different these are from a company called nerdy ink and they sell custom sleeves that you can put on your favorite series so i didn't really like the original book sleeves so i decided to get these ones they're so gorgeous and they look so pretty on the shelves so yes show some of those off but yeah i'm hoping to finish this series hopefully this year i only like i said i only have two left so hopefully i can do it so this next shelf is all of my young adult fantasy series books this is definitely my biggest section i'm gonna go through them semi-fast this first series i have is the children of blood and bone i love these covers so much um this first book i read recently and i really enjoyed it so yes highly recommend this series i feel like it's really unique something you'll notice a lot of on my young adult shelves specifically is i have a lot of special edition books that came in book boxes so yes you'll see those throughout i'm not going to talk about every single one of them but here are a few examples of those so we have the beautiful which has sprayed edges and it also has some cover art on the inside of the sleeve they're also all signed as well so i have a bunch of those on my shelves this is another one as well which is such a beautiful version of this book i also have my libra do go section right here i have the six of crows duology and then the shadow and bone trilogy and then some of her other books that come with this world as well i love this series this is the newest one that i got which is such a beautiful version of this book i got this from illumicrate as well they were selling special editions if you're ever interested in their special editions they do have like a newsletter or you can follow them on instagram and you can know when they're putting out like these beautiful books this has some really pretty illustrations on the inside as well which is so cool to have okay some more young adult fantasy series on this shelf we have the three dart crown series which i've only read this first one and i really really enjoyed it i can't wait to get to the second one but it was really easy read it's not super duper long and i really enjoyed reading this one so this beautiful book which i cannot wait to read this year i think this is one of the most beautiful covers with this emerald green and the gold i just love this cover it's so pretty and then we have my little care ball section right here so i have the three regular editions of these books which are the versions that i read and then i have this which is the special edition fairy loot this came in one of their boxes it also has a really pretty cover underneath as well just so you guys can see some of the really pretty additions that i have i have this shielded i have the river of royal blood haven fall all of these are special editions as well and they're really beautiful the last book i want to talk about on this shelf is a curse of dark and lonely by bridget kemmer this was a really good beauty and the beast retelling so if you're interested in retellings this is a really really good one it has a really cool main character i loved the main character in this story so love this book okay so right off the bat on this shelf we have two of the books in the mirror visitor series i love this series it almost reads like an adult to a certain extent which is one of the reasons that i really enjoy it has excellent writing another really atmospheric book um i cannot wait to read the second one which has such a beautiful cover love the yellow on this one i'm really drawn to yellow book covers for some reason i also have this gorgeous paperback the gilded ones which has really pretty sprayed edges i love this paperback i have never seen a more beautiful paperback book before we have two more books that i feel like are worth mentioning that i read both of them were four star books for me they're not like the best writing of all time but they're really really fun reads so we have spin the dawn and serpent and dove both of them have really cute romances in them as well this one is mulan inspired except that she's a seamstress and this one is a hate to love romance with a witch and a winch witch hunter who fall in love and the last one i want to talk about is kingdom of the wicked which is such a gorgeous book i haven't read this one but man this is high on my list as well just based on the book cover it has some really beautiful illustrations not only on the cover but also on the dust jacket as well definitely can't wait to read this one [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] this next little shelf is the start of my manga section i have two shelves they're both really small i don't have a huge collection of these books but i do love reading them these are two of my favorite we have the promise neverland which is a really dark manga but it's action-packed everything i love about mangas in one series it's so much fun definitely recommend this there's also an anime that goes along with it that's really really good as well i also have this little antler that i decorate this shelf with and then this little light up sign that says more vincent omnia which means love conquers all and then the other series that i have on the shelf is my favorite manga series which is a silent voice this is such a heartbreaking but beautiful story i cried throughout the entire series and it's not a super long one it's only seven books so it's very doable i think it's a good place to start with manga if you're looking to start reading some it's just such a good series and they also have an anime that goes along with this as well that i just bawled crying when i watched it as well this next shelf is the last of my young adult fantasy series shelves i have two of mary e pearson series i really really want to read these books so badly these were sent to me from one of my friends here in the community and they're so gorgeous i absolutely love these two covers i think they're beautiful i love the filigree on this one in particular it's just gorgeous and then i also have these three which are the remnant chronicles which was sent to me by you guys so thank you so much to whoever sent these to me like seriously it means the world i still have the little notes on the inside i love keeping these we also have some more brandon sanderson this is his young adult sci-fi series i absolutely love these covers they are these are the uk edition and i really wanted these ones in particular because i think they're so cool and unique and beautiful i couldn't talk about young adult fantasy without mentioning strange the dreamer this is my all-time favorite young adult fantasy book i absolutely loved this it was so amazingly written it's another series that reads kind of like adult which is why i love it so much it's just beautifully written i mean there's a reason it has so much love and it deserves all of it i just want to mention a few really beautiful additions that i have on the shelf we have bone crier's moon the midnight lie the gwenevere deception and blood air okay so this shelf is all young adult fantasy standalones and again we have some really pretty books on this shelf i absolutely love this edition of girl serpent and thorn it's pink and then has green sprayed edges i also have these two shea urn shop books which i think are worth a mention they're not like amazingly written definitely not some of my favorites but i think they're such good books to read for certain times of the year this one is definitely a really good october book and this one is a really good winter book i really enjoyed both of them they're both about witches and i think they're worth reading for sure i also have the house in the cerulean sea which is another one of my favorite books of all time i'm not sure if this is adult or young adult online it's categorized as both so i just put it on this shelf but this is such a sweet story i absolutely love it i think it has such a wide range for appeal and i think so many people would love this book there's also rules for vanishing which is a really spooky young adult book there was actually a lot of scenes in this that felt adult in them they were actually really scary and kind of gruesome but this was such an interesting book to read i've never read anything like it it was really really really spooky so yes highly recommend it okay so the last shelf on this row is more young adult fantasy standalone books we have some margaret rogerson here which is one of my favorite young adult authors i absolutely love her writing i've only read sorcerer thorns so i plan on reading enchantment of ravens hopefully soon i do have two different editions of this book both of them came from book boxes so this one is purple which is different than the original this one has the original cover but has some green sprayed edges i'm happy i have both of them this is one of my favorite young adult books so yeah i'm glad that i get to have two different versions of it i also have two versions of fable one of them came from a book box and one of them is the just original version i bought this one originally but then this one was sent to me in a box so i do have both of them this was a really fun story as well again not one of my favorites but i really did enjoy it i really liked the main character in this and it's kind of like a pirate oceany themed book i also have this picture of me and my husband on our wedding day on this shelf these little glass containers which i think are really cute and then these are all fake books that come from the fairy loot boxes and i just keep little character prints in them some of my favorite covers on this shelf are star daughter and this is just absolutely gorgeous i think this character design is just beautiful i have a print on the inside as well she's just gorgeous hands labyrinth which is an illustrated version of the story and i can't wait to read this one i love the movie it also has a cover underneath which is really beautiful and the sisters grim which i want to read for obvious reasons i really love grimm's fairy tales so i really want to pick this one up this is another really pretty addition with some sprayed edges and i love this art on the inside of the cover [Music] [Music] okay so we are on the last row and this first shelf has more manga i haven't read any of these ones but i have read most of the girl from the other side which is a really awesome manga as well definitely another favorite it has a really unique illustration style and i loved the story of this i also have children of the whales which i wanted to mention because these were complete cover buys for me they look so magical and i just love this like beautiful painterly style of the covers i just think they're gorgeous so hopefully they'll be good all right the second shelf on this row is all of my young adult kind of like miscellaneous fiction before we get into this though i will show you the few decorations i have i have this little i don't know container and i love the color of it it's such a pretty turquoise color i've had this for years and so that is on here and then i also have another bookend like crystal e geode bookend i think i'll go into the books that i can't wait to read that are on the shelf just because i literally have read one book on this i have gotten rid of some books that were on this shelf so i've read more than just this one book but you know that's all i have on here okay so first of all we have the wicker king which is such a cool book i love the cover of this i did start this book last year for the reading rush when it was around but i haven't finished it so i want to reread this one i liked it i just didn't finish it next one is probably one of the most gorgeous covers i love this painterly cover i think it's beautiful i've heard amazing things about this book so i can't wait to read this one i know that this has a lot of beautiful metaphors a lot of really good conversations so i can't wait to read this one soon i also have bone gap which is a hades persephone retelling so i'm very excited about this i don't think i mentioned but hades and persephone is my favorite greek mythology couple i just love them persephone is my all-time favorite greek goddess so i can't wait to read this one i also have when we were vikings which was a complete cover buy for me i'm sure you could guess why i bought this which is because it had vikings in the title and it was such a beautiful cover it has really beautiful gold and blue and turquoise such a pretty cover the last one i have is i'll give you the sun this is my best friend's favorite book so i want to read this one super soon i feel like you should always read all of your favorite people's favorite books i think it tells a lot about them this middle shelf is my middle grade books the start of them these are all middle grade series and i'm pretty sure yeah they're all fantasy series middle grade is another category that i hadn't read a lot of in the past but um this past year or two i've read way more of it definitely one of my favorite categories to read from i feel like you can never go wrong with picking up a good moto grade especially when you are in like a bad mood or you're in kind of a bad place in life just pick up one of these and you'll feel better okay the first one i want to talk about is kind of a weird one i don't think i've ever heard anyone literally anyone talk about this series this was one of my favorite books when i was a kid this is another well-loved book i read this book probably like two or three times and my cousin and my sister and i we would like act out scenes from this book like kids do it's such a weird book it's so fantastical and the illustrations on the inside are just super colorful and pretty some of them are kind of creepy looking i just loved this book so much as a kid i'm not sure what i would think about this book now it's definitely due for like a reread as an adult because i read this when i was in middle school if you've read this book please let me know because i i don't know anyone that has read this book i also have the second one i'm not sure how many are in the series i haven't looked but i actually have not read the second one so yeah i've had it for years uh but i haven't read it so yeah but anyways i thought i would mention this since this is this was one of my favorite books as a kid the next one i want to talk about is a pinch of magic this was one of my favorite books of i can't remember it was last year the year before i think it was the year before but i absolutely love this book the covers are just absolutely gorgeous i think they go together really well and just uh they're so pretty the next ones i want to talk about are frost hearts i read frost heart i think two years ago as well it's like pirates but in the snow this was such a fun book and i absolutely loved the writing i loved the characters i loved the story i loved everything about it so very excited to continue on with this series this one was actually given to me by my friend gavin it has really beautiful sprayed edges and such a cool book i just love this emerald green color beautiful this also has really cool illustrations on the inside as well another wintery middle grade is green glass house by kate milford oh my goodness i love this book so much this one actually takes place on christmas eve tells the story of a boy who is adopted and lives in this old smuggler's den it's just so fun there's a little bit of paranormal in it okay we made it to the final shelf which is more middle grade this is mostly middle grade standalone books it's kind of a mix of fantasy but it also has just like fiction middle grade books as well but i also have the lion the witch and the wardrobe in here which is the series but i didn't have room on my other shelf so it came over here i think first i'll pull out some of my favorite covers and then we'll go into some of my favorite books on here i mean just look at this isn't this beautiful oh middle grade covers are so pretty this one in particular i think i'll pick up during the fall time this year it has beautiful fall leaves on the cover and these horses are like dancing in fall leaves it's so pretty and it looks like a really good book to pick up for fall time definitely gonna do that but all of these are just beautiful and i had to show them off all right so now let's talk about my favorites on this shelf i actually have quite a few favorites let's start with sophie anderson she is probably one of my top two or three favorite middle grade authors i love her books they all have a lot of russian inspired folklore in them i haven't read the girl who speaks bear but i have read the other two and i just loved them so much this was another one that was sent to me by gavin and it's signed so i feel like it's pretty special since i love sophie anderson so much her books have illustrations in them as well and i think it just really adds to the story the next one i want to talk about is the girl who drank the moon this is probably my favorite middle grade besides harry potter which is saying a lot i have two editions of it this one was the one that i bought and this one was actually sent to me by the publisher it's the gift edition and it's so beautiful i'm so happy to have both of them since it is one of my favorite books this was another book that i balled at the ending of this book it's just so beautiful i feel like there's a lot of metaphors in it and it's everything that i love about middle grade i think that this book is one of the most well written middle grades i think that kelly barnhill's writing is that in this is so well done and i feel like adults and children anyone will love this book so beautiful please read it next up is my little neil gaiman collection coraline is definitely the best halloween book that you could ever pick up it's so spooky it's the right amount of creepy it's very fantastical these editions all have illustrations in them look at how creepy next up we have this edition of howl's moving castle this is folio society's edition and it's so pretty it comes with this hard cover over it and then this is what it looks like it's gorgeous this is another one of my favorite middle grades i love this book so much this particular edition has colored illustrations on the inside as well another edition that i'm so happy that i have because it's so gorgeous this is also my favorite studio ghibli movie because hal is the best if you haven't read this book and you've watched the movie i really think you will love it the next ones i want to talk about are my cs lewis the lion the witch and the wardrobe collection these all have colored illustrations in them as well i've been wanting to read this series again for so long i think i've only read the first three of them so i'm really excited to read this one two more books to talk about this second to last book is snow and rose this is a retelling of the classic grimm's fairy tales story this is another one with beautiful illustrations on the inside it's such a cozy book and if you love grimm's fairy tales i think this is a really good retelling last but certainly not least is a monster calls by patrick ness this was one of my favorite books last year and oh my goodness did i cry i probably cried the most in this book than i have in any other book it is heartbreaking i really do think it's important to read these types of books sometimes even though they are extremely difficult to read it really does bring you back to earth really grounds you if you're looking for a good cry this one will do it this is also illustrated as well and i think that these illustrations really bring across the themes and the atmosphere of this book this is another book that i think everyone should read [Music] all right well
