[Music] [Applause] so I had to do my own countdown this morning Orion went to Hawaii Wow so I I had Zoey up at the ranch a couple of weeks ago and I said Zoey what do you want for your birthday and she said I don't know grandma but I am getting a trip to Hawaii so what else could you do for your birthday right they were on the plane yesterday and they're on their way so so we're all alone we weren't I'm in charge now oh my gosh we have such a great stack of quilts I want to show you so you all know I am the queen of the two and a half inch strips right definitely the queen of the two and a half inch strips so I'm glad because I made it and it was from 2 and a half inch strip roll and I just had so much fun doing it so of course there are two and a half inch strips and I just blended all my colors and I did a print a two and a half inch strip roll and then a white yes and it was so much fun and then of course little rickrack just because it's so cute and then the little polka dot around in the binding okay so I really got into it ah color and white ooh two and a half inch strips so I changed my plan I am now the queen two and a half inch half square triangles yeah yeah so that was the first one that I did I was in a gorgeous and I did that for a cue quilt and then I did it for rotary cutting and that is the bear track and I got into like these solid colors and Teresa and Paddy were so shocked they said that I was getting bright I did didn't I yeah look at my dress I don't know what happens to you I'm gonna be going out dancing pretty soon you never know so I did first and see look after I did the blocks I took all of the left over two and a half inch square triangles and put him in the border I wasn't going to do it I said take too much time but yeah not too much not not too much well I had to do this one for my log house that's the colors that I use I can't do bright and crazy and Julie and with the logs so anyhow this is the bear tracks as well a little two and a half inch squares and four and half inch squares and the same in the corners two and a half inch squares that's easy right multiples of two and a half and then around the outside edge I like that one that was good that was good bear tracks thank you thank you and now I think Teresa did this one yes so Teresa was copying me is that cute so she didn't have a whole stack of ten inch squares she just had a partial what was left over from a stack and so she did this one and she actually cut up more of her ten and a half inch squares around the outside edge and put a little border on it and then we get into this right we make one quilt we love it so much we have to make another one and so this is called under the sea this is our new dies from a cue quilt and so Teresa just cut those out and isn't isn't the fabric great and notice that the ocean is quilted all through this really really fun let me see the back yes it's a great ocean okay so let me look okay so this is really fun all Patti grabbed me of white ten inch square Oh all white that's what I need yes this is what I'm into now it's so easy you don't have to think don't you love it ten and a half in our 10 inch square Oh white oh why 10 inch squares yeah Oh print this one is great fossil ferns fossil ferns all picked out don't have to think of it just put the two together and you got it the queen is hot you ready okay so this is circle of friends circle of friends this is your pattern for today circle of friends it's very very cool it's just with two and a half inch half square triangles white and print right yes eight colors in each circle and then the center is six and a half inches six and half inches and then there's a little two and a half inch strips along the side that go around to frame it up and actually Judy Jackson quilted this and look it starts here with the focus right here in the middle and then pulls out isn't it beautiful it's spectacular spectacular and so I have to show you just we were just working with 810 inch squares of print and so when we want to do cornerstones we normally need nine right three three three three six nine didn't have it look what we had to put in the center just the white that's great but you're allowed to put a color in the center the lattice to frame it yeah is that good okay so these are 18 inch square blocks 18 inches 18 inches the bear tracks is 12 I got bigger right I was growing isn't that pretty I know I know I think it's beautiful and then Teresa had some little pieces so I think this this one is 22 inches 24 24 so then she got into 3-inch finish size so you can do it with anything you could take charm packs and cut it up yeah but charm pack of a dark and a light and you could do it just right size together cool and let me see ah bed runner so if you can make four of these 18 inch blocks and just sew them together think how beautiful that would be just on a commercial cover and just put this at the end this is what the hotels need huh cuz that just to throw your step put your suitcase on yeah but anyhow it's just so pretty I really really like it you like it okay so if you'll hang it up there and I have to show you the Queen had to work last night I'm into two and a half inch half square triangles so this one this is the bear track ten inches that's the circle of friends 18 inches I went smaller you want to see it the next one coming up isn't it cute it's just really fun 16 half square triangles and these are just two and half inch squares whoa and I feel so blessed in in about 10 minutes I figured out and make the seams all lock I'm so happy when Theresa and I did this one we spent about three days on it didn't we it was about three days up you want to take a picture mmm I kind of match huh come on Nancy get with it be like laughs a lot you'll live longer right okay so you like it okay I do too it's really exciting but this is what's really exciting usually and you have layer cakes you can do it just with one layer cake and usually how many how many ten inch squares are in it 40 usually there's 40 this is the perfect one and guess what's in it 5050 so I'm thinking you know what you could probably make all three quilts just with this package in this package and some more more blight that cool all right sound good okay we're we're gonna show you and so I just want to show you I did my homework see I'm all set I'm all set and when you do it you need like four I should go over close and point this out when you do this it's like these are called little friendship stars but they're not just like a block set out they're actually woven into each other gets a little tricky a little challenging but for each one of these little friendship stars you only need to have four of the half square triangles in one center square and you see how then each one there's eight of them each one has four and you can just do a variety of colors you could use scraps or you could it's more fun to buy new stuff isn't it are your scraps aging actually to tell you the truth if you put your scraps all together in a box they'll multiply together we know that but anyhow you see Teresa used a couple of different colors it doesn't all have to be the same color but you need four and it's really good that you use dynamic colors that separate out the star so you can clearly see them and then just the six and a half inch Center that's beautiful in it right there okay so anyhow whenever you do one whole 10 inch square you get 16 of them 16 4 x 4 blocks is 16 16 so you get everything that you need and I just had a lot of fun just putting them all together okay all right so let's go ahead open up your pattern to page 3 and Teresa is the champion at cutting strips so you could just get like a 10 inch square pack of light and if then you just cut that all up into the pieces but Teresa wants to go even faster so she got two yards two yards of background and in about five minutes she's gonna cut that whole thing she's gonna whip it into right okay so these are the cutting oh you actually folded it together huh yeah whoa and she's left-handed so I'm gonna step over yeah just a little my way yes so she is using the shape cut pro which is just a two and a half inch strip cutter it's humongous and I like what you did I know she planned this last night she made the cutting mat to go lengthwise in front of her yeah and then she's it's only has two and a half inch strips the whole way across so you can't make a mistake yes yeah it's a no-brainer another no-brainer oh I need to really move no because I started from the right you know because she's left-handed and you started from the laughs it got you're right-handed and so that you can reverse the mat it doesn't matter if you're right-handed or left-handed this is a June Taylor product she actually has four layers stacked up and she is just straightening the edge and now she's moving over to two and a half inches and cutting and let's take a look so it says how many two and half inch squares does she need to we're on page three yeah sure right sixteen two and a half inch strips right and that's so gonna say we actually um so you're not cutting out your ten inch squares right I am I just didn't want it to be had this right here okay Tami she didn't want to cut out them first she bled to get hot so you actually cut eight two and a half inch strips layered is that what you did I I did I have my 16 okay she cut two strips at a time two inches there that's my sixteen strips here yeah okay she got all 16 how long did it take her I didn't even run to the bathroom is like you just get it so fast I'm saying you just got all your other pieces but then I need three to cut my 48 two and a half oh she needs two and a half inch squares now if you go down the list you will see you need to have 48 two and a half inch squares to make this size quilt okay so now she's sub cutting she took her two and a half inch strip strip she lined up three of them and now she's going to go the opposite way and just cut yeah you have to make sure your blade is in don't push the blade without you been in so she put her fingertip right beside the lot that she wants to put it in and you up also have to have your rotary cutter straight very good so that you can get it in there and look at this and a blade oh they have these really nice sharp blades and those we need or endurance endurance endurance grades and they are sharp they are sharp and just what you don't run over a pin that's a killer yeah I always seem to do it just as soon as I put that was that's my two in a half and these are great oh god my ladder okay now you're cutting your oh you're gonna cut your lattice if you want me to like you can just perform to cut your eight-and-a-half this this is what your lattice is on the outside oh they said you got a blocked did our other one go I don't see it where'd our four block go oh they're right in there this is like so cool right out of nowhere guess what appears the endurance blade yeah yeah so now I'm gonna do my eight and a half okay so she's moving all along that list and then she knows it this is for the outside edge a didn't always close your blade don't do what I do have that's my sixteen eight and now the six and a half and if you're gonna do four of them you need four four one block so four times four is I'm telling you I'm still working with Jonas I got those both tables down okay and now she is working on the sides and they're actually the sides and they're a little bit shorter actually this is twisted around so from here to where the the top and bottom come these are only six and a half inches six and a half inches on the sides six and a half inches okay you're doing good and so you're lucky you're gonna have all your lattice cut up and everything huh I said Theresa don't don't waste this fabric cut it for me that's exactly what she said I think that's what they wanted me to cut this yeah it's a little texture I know this is her outside letters but you know often what am I gonna do with these pieces I caught them two two and a half inch squares already you know so when Eleanor say do you have an extra squares yes but these are extra these goes with these and then now very so your lattice cut out for you that is it and then okay so this this just let's just review so start at the top you can review this is okay go right down the list first she did sixteen two and a half and so first she did what size eight and a half eight and a half sixteen then she did six and a half and then she did two and a half forty eight of them and then these are for the quilt lattice or the bed runner lattice these are the size of the block eighteen inches it's going to go around the outside edge okay now she's going to cut her ten inch if you don't buy a a ten inch set a pre-cut you can go ahead and cut your own is that what you're doing yes yeah okay so now this is my 10-inch we're going to summer school I'm not going to be doing it this is my ten inch squares and from this latter one you're going to be cutting your six inch and you choose oh you have to turn it around [Music] line it up in a line and then just cut your 10 inch that you need is that good marvelous 10 inch for our project of 4 blocks that's no need to have air very same so she did eight and and for all she did eight and that's gonna do all of this she's a mad woman and now she's doing the center the center and the size of the center is six and a half you don't have enough fling in that oh I'm sorry she's doing better than she used to she's flinging it okay now she's using the six the nine and a half inch I square up ruler to cut six and trim it and then what do I do that that's all your bad my gosh that's really cool mm okay yeah everybody needs a Theresa I'm sorry she's not available okay so now I I did do a little figuring for you if you oh this is heavy if you get a package ten inch white you can cut all of your smaller shapes out of here except your lattice right you can do all their smaller ones out of this one so you just need to have this and this for your blocks but if you want to purchase your lattice separate you only need to have 3/4 of a yard and that is written in the paragraph right across the top I thought oh you know what if they just want to get this is so easy right no big pieces to deal with you can just cut this into your smaller pieces so you only need a small amount okay so then now we're gonna go to our pre cuts of the dark and the medium how many did I say is in this pack fifty oh my gosh fifty that's a lot of half square triangles huh these two together holy smokes and so now I'm just going to go ahead and we're gonna turn okay she left Teresa left me alone whew and now I think I can handle this one okay just in case okay so now we're on our rotary cutting page on page five page five and basically all you do is take your ten inch white core or whatever color you want off-white and your print Wow look at that I don't know if that belongs on there I don't know no no I think it belongs there huh okay that's what I was thinking really you might have to find something else ooh how's this one this good okay I don't know what happened to that one Yeah right okay so you just put them right sides together you always put the dark on the top and if you look at that first oh it's just like my fabric look at that I could make it look just like loop right sides together and I'm going to prepare for rotary cutting at two-and-a-half inch half square triangles so I'm just going to cut that into basically three it's going to be nine inches long three and then this one I'm also going to cut three and these are all going to be half square triangles except a little bit of this one and I need to have a two and a half inch square so before I screw up I'm just going to cut off like two and a half inch square for my corner stones is that cool and look at this what are you going to do with this I've been doing little afore badges I could I'm not gonna throw it away that's great that's great okay so now we have this really cool ruler I have to tell you that my sister Patty has she loves this ruler and so I'd said okay I'm gonna get used to this it's like I'm the old dog that can't learn new tricks but now I'm going to try the double square up ruler okay there it's kind of interesting huh it's just two rulers in one and you know how you're always looking for your ruler all over the place now you only have to find one okay so now these are all divided into three inch oh yes you click it you click it click it slide it why did they make it so complicated huh yeah okay so now look I'm using the square up part I do a three inch line okay then I'm gonna do another three inch line okay and then I only need three inches here so I'm going to cut this off and put it in my box okay so now we're moving on down over to the right column and you can see how I see at the bottom it shows you how you could go ahead and cut your white you can fit them out of there it's pretty amazing okay so let's just do go up and down up and down up and down ziggy-zag okay whoops that didn't mark very good okay and one more yeah is the machine ready and put on the automatic pivot okay is that good can you see the lines good okay so Teresa if you want you can go ahead and Mark these with 3-inch lines and these with 3-inch lines and that's and and then count how many is it gonna be you say though you get 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 ah that good exactly what you need right so I have my quarter inch on foot on my sewing machine and so I'm just gonna line up my quarter inch right there and step on the gas I have two layers right sides together one and you have to kind of go up and down up and down but it's okay right and then use your use your needle down to pivot mm-hm and one more and then just start and go around the other side you stitch a quarter of an inch away from your line okay so Teresa while I finish sewing this will you show them the square up end of that little double square up ruler the squaring up so what size are we trying to make two-and-a-half is so much ingrained in you okay so take and show how that where the two and a half edge is on the ruler oh okay right right that's going to be the two and a half and are you gonna give me one to square our thing right there I am okay finally okay so first okay you talk you call a head I'm sorry I don't know when if he this is what do you want me to do cut him up fine yep now you use the square up end of your ruler and cut it up and then just cut it on the drawing line yeah yes okay just making sure then you do your other one then he wants to line it up on the line and get the tooth and your self inch line goes on the thread line and now she's cut not for this yeah yeah being her plenty times doing this there now you set the seam with the dark on the top and that should impress what is that good that's really pretty isn't it bounce very have all of these that we could finish so why don't we check let's see if we're good or not okay so let's take here it is let's put the square part put the diagonal line look at that okay now look at this boy was that fast we got these all done and so now comes the trickiest part oh she's coming to the rescue she's bringing an open one I was going to open a new one yeah I wanted a new one yeah but anyhow they're really nice they're they're just really great for doing this because it's it's huge it's just huge it's huge and you almost don't even get the whole thing laid out on here but now comes the tricky part and I'm not sure if you can help lay out but anyhow let's just start maybe we'll just start and we'll do a start in the upper left corner yeah to do it and I'm just gonna put down to two of my two and a half inch squares and now I'm Dyslexic and this could be really interesting but I have my stack and all I'm going to do is lay yeah you'll be able to see it better than me and just lay it out and then the bottom one right mm-hmm that's good okay so now let's move over and now we'll do the red one let me see the red one so you could you could I'm I like to work just one at a time okay I have red and now I'm going to do red oops and look at the one that goes up above you see that one is with the eight and a half inch strip see that okay and then we need a square here to do and we need a little square down below I'm doing so good whoa I'm just totally amazed it's not easy being dyslexic okay and then how about the blue one okay we'll do the blue one next and so writing underneath it this one goes like this right and this one goes like this so you see how it easy it is you could you should get somebody to get your kids to help you write and this one and yeah I did it I did it I did it and then this one and that is that is like the whole top row you know what if I would have started over a little bit further on the edge it would have just worked yeah so do you just continue layering lay out all your pieces okay exactly as it shows and then the next picture on page nine shows how we sew this into groups you actually focus on the corners a group of four a group of four in each of the corners and then there are sides there's only four blocks in the corners and then look at the sides the sides are how many six yes there's six in the sides six in the sides on four sides okay okay so how about you we will just do this is the corner right a four that's four okay yes get hold of four make sure you get them right side up and everything right okay so I have it right here and we I actually found out if you look at the picture all four corners are the same you can go ahead and stack up all four corners but do it carefully I'm speaking from experience yeah yes one of your tools is a seam ripper okay okay so I'm I'm still on page ten oh we do sell great seam ripper you know I have to tell you I the old school the old dog I love my clover seam ripper I really do is that your favorite the clover is so honest yeah it's it's very yeah okay so if you just follow the arrows okay the arrow say take the piece on the right flip it to the left right and now I go okay I'm going to look at that little picture right there and make sure it's the same okay and so just you can assembly-line just do the first for loop okay and I I'm so good I love my so straight helping me with my quarter inch seam and the reason that I like to sew straight is because you can start clear out here lining up instead of waiting till you get up to the top to line up and the hardest thing that I have had it's my eyes is getting right sides together on this piece of fabric it is so hard to tell okay so now you would just keep on sewing the next three sets but I'm just gonna do one for you aren't you glad okay so then it says to open open open and turn to the left mmm and now is that the same as your picture right there in the bottom is that it okay so now I'm gonna flip it right sides together and get it all lined up at the top and we are going to do that magnificent swirling that helps lay everything flat and so you're just going to push the top seam up and if it's not flat it's not locked because you can you can tell right away if you have not locked it in place okay okay okay one corner okay so now look over on page 11 and the first thing that says is to clip this little stitch right here and it and Marit draw such a nice big loop but you can't really you usually don't have much of a loop so I just take my scissors and kind of just drop it right in there and then cut that thread okay and then because it's just so little just so few if you just open it up and you just push this one down and this one to the left it pops open it pops open and so you just go push it push it good push it good and then it shows you on the arrows to do you gonna swirl your seam around around the center so that was easy that was easy okay that was easy and so we're just gonna turn it oh it's pretty much the same so now we're gonna do the sides and this is this is my corner here this is all sewn right that's all done but do you see this is on page 12 just a little different in color right okay okay so now the tricky part is to get it over here OOP this is where I always get screwed up okay and this time you have three pairs two so okay so I'm going to just turn it and make sure because I found help that I like to check every single time it's so much easier than on sewing okay so this gets flipped right sides together right sides together yep there's the pink right Oh Thank You Teresa you're pulling it right sides together the next part is genius that's all I can tell you be ready for the genius part this is the three day revelation on the next step three days with Theresa and I wonder how much that cost us a lot huh huh think of all the fun I had okay this is go okay and open up these two seams and watch your book check your book one - is it still right yes it's still right now flip this one on here this one on here yes we're doing wait did you say wait okay and just keep your seams keep them nice and straight Oh Theresa are used to straightening my box okay so now we've got one of four sides it says open it up open and is that right is this still right oh I don't have purple I just yeah yeah there were my colors just if you look at the values it's the values okay now I'm just gonna flip it right sides together and see both of these themes are pressed up both of them are pressed up and right here what's amazing is that this locks together that locks together I love it when it locks together that's when last night when I locked together I get so excited sometimes I'm blessed sometimes I'm not and I love it when I'm pressed okay and just keep your maintained your quarter inch seam and now you can roll the drums this is this is the amazing part okay see that gate see that first one it says on so these stitches only these stitches does it say to sew until the second one so what are you supposed to do only on so the first one okay so now I just clipped my threads and I'm going to open it up and I'm gonna swirl the top one to the right and then the bottom goes to the left oh did you see how to the left and this goes whole way down to the left that goes flat that goes flat that's what took us three days to do it's gonna all lock together everything locks together okay I'm gonna pick up my handi oh just leave it over there I love that that little board is really helpful okay I know it's like rocket science okay let's see if I can lay out my blocks okay so how's it coming there it is okay so let's let's go back to I'll tell you what let's go back to page 9 go back to page 9 so now we're gonna lay out a corner a side a side like we just did in another corner that's looking good huh now we're going to go to the middle row we're going to take a side a side and then our six and a half inch square and at the bottom another side okay and now right now we need to have a corner a side and the corner is that easy it really is easy it really is easy okay so then when you flip these right sides together see look at this that locks that locks and then when you flip this one you don't have to lock anything that one's easy and then you flip this one together and it locks so every every single one should lock together and I'm just curious how many of you whenever you're sewing at home do you get them to lock do you do it if you follow the direct if you follow the directions then everything locks together yeah I know I I would I would think that you would because that makes me so excited too okay so that is you so this all together first and then let me see what do I have here I need to have I see it okay sides no this is that's that's for the that's gonna go on the sides the short ones is six and a half go on the sides right and it's true does work this is the opposite side six and a half and by the time you show these together these are going to fit on there okay and then you have top and bottom these are the eight and a half inch pieces and now we put this one I don't know what did I do I did that just so I could show you how to on so don't you feel better and won't work I was doing this on Sunday and I had to hurry up so I could go to lunch so whenever I on so all I do is take my nice sharp seam ripper see this is a lesson right and I just take a it's holding it sideways and I make sure that I cut at least the end threads everybody has their own I just go every about 3-4 stitches and just cut across right right and then I get hold of it and I go over going to hell a little basket okay see everybody likes to watch my webinars because I make them laugh and they feel better I must know I've locked it in the beginning I locked it it's nice finally and I have to take the other side out too right that just won't work now it won't work have to take it out again oh my gosh that was too much fun okay so then let's see what we have left ah and so it shows you how to put that four blocks of the quilt together remember I said you could put eight little cornerstones around the outside edge and just a white one in the center than the table the bed runner actually uses more ten of them - yeah more one more lattice and more cornerstones and just sew them all together and no more borders and you just send it out for long arm quilting and you're done I love the quilting I don't know if you notice this is Judy Jackson's she did this is like a free motion right in the center kind of ream it's it's like a crosshatch and then these beautiful swirling and she did like big feathers around this big feathers it's so cool and then on the outside edges she did like I always call it ribbon candy to do dirty to to back of course she did ribbon candy and put it all together and it's beautiful [Music]
