Hello everyone today we're going to talk about Uefy 2 which is a blender add-on that lets you use rigify rigs with game engines like unreal. The last version was focused on the unreal engine mannequin but with this one you could rig absolutely anything. That includes machines, creatures, characters, even whole dragons. But more on that later, if I only use blender's rigify add-on to export the mannequin I end up with a few problems in the engine. This bone hierarchy that rigify generates causes problems with retargeting and with blueprints that are designed for the mannequin if I use the Uefy add-on in addition to rigify I get this bone hierarchy that just works perfectly and it's almost impossible to tell the difference between this mannequin and the original. This one was rigged in blender we're not limited to just the mannequin this is paragon bellica from the paragon assets and when i export this character to the engine. All of the marketplace animation packs that I've purchased will work instantly because you Uefy configured this character to be compatible. And at the same time i can use rigify's advanced controls to create my own animations to fill any gaps that might exist in the animation packs. rigify is a modular build system you can add any number of limbs to a character in any configuration that you want Uefy 2 now lets you bring that capability to unreal engine and you can arrange characters absolutely any way that you want to with Uefy 2 it's now possible to have just a pair of arms or just hands or maybe even just a facial rig and you can use this to create modular characters or fps games or vr games and we're no longer bound to a full biped character in the shape of a mannequin or something similar to mannequin we can have just anything. Uefy 2 now comes with two modes of operation one is the epic skeleton where it supports rigging characters so that they're compatible with the unreal engine mannequin the other mode is freeform mode in freeform mode we don't care about the mannequin and we can rig any kind of mechanical device or vehicle or creature of any type and then we can use Uefy to get it into the engine the bone hierarchy exported by Uefy is also more efficient and optimized for game engine use there's no real limit to the type of complexity that we can add to these rigs so if you want to create any kind of fantasy characters like a dragon or something of similar nature, it works pretty well with oversized characters too i haven't had any problems with that. We can retain all of the benefits of an advanced rig like categorizations for the controls and separate fk and ik chains and at the same time Uefy will output this with an efficient and optimized bone hierarchy the process and the tools provided by uefi have also been simplified and streamlined much of it has been automated for example if you wanted to add additional bones to your character's rig for shoulder pads or something like that it's very simple now you just add the samples directly to the meta rig and hit build and that's it there are also some additional tools for transfer of skin weights and various other improvements. So this is a lot easier to use than the older one. Uefy 2 is available for sale on my website links will be in the description. i just want to say a word of thanks to Epic Games and everyone who purchased the previous version of Uefy Script for supporting this project Uefy 2 will be a free upgrade for anyone who has already made a purchase and the previous version will now be called Uefy Script Lite and it will be hosted on my website if anyone still needs it.
