i'm just surprised does this mean every previous incarnation of her yeah refused yeah just started it over again i mean what makes this one think of it think of it this way it's a closed loop kind of that the i the real thing is that the only reason why it isn't a closed loop is because of us the players but what kind of external but why couldn't echo say something different learn yeah and i think that's kind of the frustration that i almost feel like this game would have been better if um if the game was actually structured as a loop and it tells you that it's a loop early and like if the entire point is you do defeat the first remnant activate the starseed things go bad she tries something new finds the next one has some more information things go bad again but like every time the planet gets worse and she gets more desperate and desperate um but by the end of it you know the fifth or the sixth loop of this ray going through things um that's when echo is finally like i'm you i'm the you from all of those previous iterations you think you remember but those are just recollections that you've picked up from my echo um and that you know we are the sum total of all of the previous use that came before um instead like there's a couple of different ways that you could do it because she said that you're just remnants does that mean that the remnants are all part of her not her friends possibly i cuz like her broken suit missing pieces i was just hoping that if i were the echo in this situation i probably would have tried to find talking points and things that could convince yeah i i the problem is i think when it comes down to it but at the same time everybody that we've interacted with directly has been a petty jerk including rey ray is a petty jerk ekko is a petty jerk the elders are all petty jerks ark isn't bad arik is not bad and i feel like arik would have actually been the kind of perfect example as the person who breaks the loop finally of like you know when when the antecedent says no you've been here before he remembers and then immediately is like you know talks to us or something like that or even the antecedent but what i'm wondering is by us performing this loop we've prevented aarick from living out his life i think that would have been a really good point to make today where he even like says like you've stolen this from me you don't realize but well no the antecedent would say that because he doesn't remember oh yeah if the antecedent confronts rey and says you stolen aryx life in your your by sending time back again and again he can never progress and it is destroying him you are stagnation embodied because you you force everyone around you to be stagnant to look at what it is done to this guy oh that would be interesting yeah and you see that is something that i as echo or or even the antecedent that would be the convincing argument because yes all the other people drawn into the void they die they joined the mycelium and whatnot but arc is a he's a native member of the void and yeah he can't progress to some degree i mean you look at this and you think how many billions of people still remain on that planet in the background you know and that you know i can see that being a somewhat convincing argument but she would say oh what about all my people still left on that planet but she's always too late what could she have done to be faster maybe that's the thing maybe that's what forces rey to continue the loop is because she's told by echo you always get here too late but she says maybe i can be faster the problem is if she gets put back in time and she has no recollections of that wouldn't echo be the only one to proffer some kind of guidance to tell her ways to speed it up or just lay it all out there or or maybe if there was after you get every single log you find a couple more logs from each of the characters kind of their final moments beyond or even like what's his face is just like you know something's wrong this is not working or i don't know there's a lot of different ways i i think it just kind of suffers a little bit from all the characters or jerk syndrome and so it's kind of like it's a little difficult to they were too late when they arrived yeah that's the thing yeah i think that's exactly the point they were too late by the time they arrived that's the thing ray doggedly would hope that if she were just a little faster if she could figure something else out yeah oh hey anna how's it going hello i don't know if you care about solar ash but we're right at the end so this might be spoilers spoilers but you might not care it's a beautiful game well let's begin loss is so pretty no no no no watch the planet get destroyed again and again brought into the void this can't be you see it now don't you you finally see the truth truth is what i make it i can bring them all back you sound like me you always do at the end do not draw this out show some mercy i didn't want to hurt you tina don't you get it we were too late we've always been too late cute you knew our planet was already lost but i couldn't face the truth i thought i could use the starseed to change what had already come to pass who are you i'm a relic of the past and you're the part of me that won't let me forget we're ever repeating our mistakes want me to slow down yes but we've already seen this before no we have but i don't want the final ending to lose its impact because you well now this is bringing it down further wrong we are two halves split by the starseed eternally tesselating but that means the starseed doesn't reverse time it it just repeats it over and over our world is ripped apart we've never had a choice the clouds you dance on are the remains of our home i can't accept that i'll start over there has to be another way there's only one choice left to make except the truth destroy the starseed let me go you listen why this time why this time instead of all the others killing you i can't see past this moment because it's the future i see it now there's no saving them all i did was prolong their suffering i'm so sorry i'm so sorry the remnants again yep but i wonder if uh ray isn't even a person that she is in an iteration of echo pain is gone i feel like i can breathe again let's see she's literally the part of echo that can't let go just like the other remnants were part of her they got split off yeah i think that's exactly it that ray even was was a remnant just kind of in a different way in a different form the bone mask and such more than two eyes because i i think it would have been really interesting uh if like we saw a picture like if you got all the logs or something you could get in the ship and see a version of yourself the version that was before that was like this you know like what if what if you see a picture of rey and it's not it's echo you know with the white and whatnot have you found all the other nooks and crannies or is this the only way this is the only way oh hey sid see it it's how are you oh we knew we would see you again [Music] we're back but i was wanting to point out that there's just this door of light i hope things don't end there i want to know what happens after i don't know if we get if rey is going to be if rey is going to be able to live in the ultravoid as this ethereal being and maybe see arik again and i i hmm we'll see but something is different your presence is activating long dormant memory cells sit you see me it's been so how long has it been i wasn't sure i still existed i never thought i'd talk to you again we are remembering everything our arrival the deaths of the void runners the end of our planet so much has been lost and yet we are still here we believe we missed you notice how they're called echo now not rey then what was rey just remnant yeah just being called rey how did they get that name though i don't know i mean maybe her name is we'll see i missed you too sid even still you are not complete does that make sense ray i we destroyed the starseed it's not over yet is it wait is this a boss rush are we gonna have a boss at least okay because we gotta fight whatever ray mutated into yeah because i was just thinking about if we're still not complete we've gotta you better go see for yourself uh you better go see for yourself for yourself well then but she still became a monster just like every time before she ended the starseed cycle so you might have the chance to end another she's still part of you isn't she i spent lifetimes watching her become a twisted and cruel monster clutching at her version of the truth she didn't know but she does now it doesn't matter anymore i have to end this does she need to be destroyed perhaps there's another way yeah i don't know about destruction look at her what do you see she looks like the rust dragger kind of well but also with a bit of sit in there but also the tentacles but i i think it yeah just it it's taking parts of all of the other yeah creatures but the thing is if they're part of the same being i think the point is they have to merge again she's angrier at herself than anything else her hate her sorrow her my guilt i see myself we're the same but she's beyond saving you or two once i don't have a choice i need to put her out of her misery why put someone out of their misery when you can pull them out are you supposed to oh there's a there's a thread up there on the left nope that didn't work the middle thread had a pinpoint on it got it i hope this isn't another choice are there two outcomes to this battle or do you just get close to defeating her but then oh wretched ray there's another one another one you don't even have a health bar of your own here what oh one down there okay well time to start anew there we go whoa that tentacle is not the most convenient of places i'm surprised it didn't kill you but oh that one actually has a it had a grapple point they really made the timing tight on this one despite the fact that it is hefty yeah i i suppose whatever c had equipped doesn't mean anything here because it doesn't exist i kind of wish this one just gave you every suit power not that most the suit powers actually really are much of anything oh another round better be right about this sid oh about tearing out the splinters there's one so there's one in the other arm there's one in the there's one on the knee yeah so my assumption is we pull out the ones on her body uh her like limbs first and then eventually they get the one that's through her chest uh i don't know why but you helped me i know you're still in there oh interesting there's fewer tendrils yeah nope i missed one huh some gravity there weird one there there we go what the oh that was weird is that dye or is it why i don't know die it sounds like die to me are you boosting time slow is limited yes we just don't have the ui for it not that it really matters and it's possible that you've gotten used to having the extra boost from versus yep i really like that suit there's a good suit is that let me die ah well from the guilt that's the guilt they're experiencing but yeah like sid said pull her out rather than put her down we're still here and we're not alone we can't go back and change the past we have to pick up the pieces and fix what's left the truth is a heavy burden but we can carry it rain together i wish that those could be disabled yeah it's ruining the impact of this beautiful cutscene i might see if i can turn them off after this i forgot we even had them on for the most part ray ray ray yep you've managed to end the cycle time moves on the ultravoid is stable now but there's so much work to be done so much to rebuild our heart aches for the loss of those we all cared for and the home none of us can return to real animals yay but what's left here is not without potential this could be a place to start something new are you all right ray i think i will i will be i don't know if that was a glitch or a reference to the fact that they were kind of no well that was interesting very much kind of fit the same theme as hyper light drifter of bleak beautiful absolutely gorgeous game at the same time there is hope in this because she isn't alone she's the two halves of her have been intertwined she still has sid there's also aarick and was it was it lisha or lisa yeah i forget the rookie or verrucky lady and then the was it ames the admiral yeah i think or am i missing yeah yeah admiral ames mm-hmm and then all the creepy elders i think i like a lot of the overtones i didn't really care too much for this story when it comes down to it the way it was presented alternated between kind of weird whiplash of like odd humor [Music] like a lot of the humor didn't really match the bleak overtones and the characters a number of the characters were first the same person yep yeah oh beautiful love the platforming i i didn't get to experience the platform but yeah alive guess so i wonder where they were hiding i i think the way this would have been a really good ending is if the remaining void runners had been broken out of their kind of like weird oh because they were in this weird the last moments of their existence were on loop yeah too because i i think that actually would have been kind of best ending though it would have been really sad for some of them because lyrics specifically her her family along with the uh the guy that owned the dog his like grandchildren were on the planet [Music] at the same time it would be an opportunity for them to be given a chance to make something something in within the altar void even if you couldn't see though i i'm very curious about being inside the ultravoid because like don't you just kind of have this constant threat that the ultravoid's gonna eat another planet and like bury whatever you've got under whatever's in the planet yeah there's that too but [Music] no i think it wouldn't be the best case ending but to still have the melancholy oh then you would have had all of them come back but yeah you finished every task and followed every path in the ultravoid 100 complete suit unlocked absolution is the absolution your final suit do you want to see yeah can you acquire the suit from sid here yeah but i would absolutely love it if they made we can do to help oh change suit or oh these are new oh we never actually asked her about those i found gozam i can't believe he's gone it doesn't seem real i always knew that no matter what happened sam would be there to fix it he was the best of us he was a natural leader if he didn't make it then he must have died trying to protect the other void runners i just don't get it everyone did their job all the conduits were set up how could they have died before i found them we wish we could tell you ray but despite all your efforts we have not restored a coherent timeline of what happened after landing that means it's really up to me to finish this thing there's no one to save us if i fail i feel so alone i just realized her outfit has this pair of really dinky looking goggles around the deck and it totally ruins the look oh well it's into the goggles that it's probably versus versus but they look so stupid okay well we'll get a new suit soon yeah i know we believe you are more capable than you know ray thanks sid so he locked you one left but how this place is nothing but death i found tufty i've never seen her look so defeated like she had given up all hope i think part of her might still be there watching if she is suffering then then we believe our functionality will be highly impaired i'm not feeling so good either sid everyone did their job all the conduits were set up how could they have died before i found them it's like the ultravoid itself is tormenting them we have to free them we have to end this we wish we could tell you ray but despite all your efforts we have the same line that means it's really we believe you are more capable who locked you out and overloaded the starseed your guest is as good as mine hmm ooh pie it had to be pie it right i believe the star sea was a holy vessel sent to us by the divine destined to save our people truly we do not know what inspired this unusual interpretation the starseed is a wonder of science but we have never detected any signs of communication with extra planar alien entities maybe he believed overpowering the starseed was a holy act of some kind sounds quite plausible hmm said is it possible that irving locked you out of the starseed he did have our differences he was always suspicious of voidtech and well suspicious of us too i can see that he loved to say never send a robot to do a man's job we didn't appreciate that it's not great once he remarked that synthetic intelligence is how did he put it real smart at killing but dumb as hell when people need saving in the end it's always up to us folk to pick up the pieces i'm sorry sid that wasn't kind we do believe he meant well despite his flaws he was a good man hmm well we can ask about the others so do you think first was the one who locked you out verse was quite angry when we departed our planet for the ultravoid we do believe he said that our people deserve this that a civilization that won't save itself doesn't deserve to be saved at all we were all upset yes go zam used to say that versus head was hotter than a solar flare but he lived up to his own ideals he believed in action and was the first of us to volunteer to enter the ultravoid yeah that's worse we used to fight over who would hot drop out of the ship first he always won do you recall the time he activated his boosters in the cargo hold we're lucky he didn't set off our entire load of photon charges i wish we had had this earlier yeah when we were talking with them about yeah like after every region if we could have talked more about them especially if we gathered all of their suit parts yeah exactly oh well you know you you wear the outfit and talk with it and she goes oh you remind me of you know verse and you had this yeah lengthy conversation about them just so that we got to know them a little better exactly he didn't always think things through he was impulsive indeed perhaps impulsive enough to overload the starseed though i think it really was pie in the end but they all have their own yeah motivations unlocked you out overpowered the starseed gosam was clever decisive an impeccable strategist he certainly was capable of it but you don't think he did it do you we cannot see him acting with malice perhaps he attempted to change the plan but we wouldn't let him proceed that would give him cause to override our functionality perhaps that explains our loss of memory as well it sounds possible but it doesn't explain everything true though tough day she was the one that was going to try to lock everything down right yeah she wanted this destroyed yeah she wanted it destroyed but maybe it accidentally caused the loop who knows could tough tv behind the sabotage if anyone could have hacked into our systems and overpowered the starseed it's our creator she knew our framework like the back of her radiometer that is to say she knew us well i'm sorry sid if she did it she must have had a good reason yes we agree she would not have come all this way just to sabotage the mission she was always thinking one step ahead whatever she did we believe it must have been for a good reason you miss her we do so do i hmm whatever the plan was it obviously didn't work the more we learn the less sense any of it makes change shoot absolution minds all the powers of the void runners supercharging your abilities how can we help you what you want to try it not that you have much to try it on yeah there's nothing else for us to do is there a new game plus where you can start with this yes i think there's hardcore mode it does feel like i am faster but it could be wrong well you should have the extra burst the shield capabilities what else um the ability to detect things the uh the time stop recharges much faster can we get a closer look yeah so it's kind of a fusion of her base suit but whiter with the uh the echo hair i wish they gone with the black mask instead of uh yeah you're right because in the i think it was in the artwork that they had for the suit it looked like it was akin to the almost the star field shadows that are on her feet and hands yeah that would have actually been really cool i think this game is also one of those candidates that i almost wish there was a a true ending we never did see tough dc oh that's pretty oh neat it's orange and blue it's a very me suit well i guess i'm wearing this one and the um the end of the yeah it's longer yeah it's it's long hair you're right because there's a blue cape but you have the little bit of orange at the end of the hair and it really streams out anyway i i feel like this sorry that it's come to this uh i was gonna say i feel like this is one of those games that almost would be kind of due for like a weird true ending treatment if that makes sense uh where i just wish that there was more epilogue when you get the good ending yeah i mean it could be really cool for them to do like a sequel of some kind if they wanted to well even if there were those credit vignettes that you sometimes see in games where you show you know arik poring over books writing poetry and the dog you know considering chewing on one of his other volumes and he's trying to wrestle the book away from the dog yeah just a couple of little illustrations would go a long way uh oh yeah uh tending to a mushroom garden but i was i was thinking in terms of the like true ending treatment that i was talking about now this in it the surrounding treatment where you get all of the void runners back if you've collected all of their logs yeah if you collect all of their logs and then or i would almost say like a second round of the game where you're not going for the starseed anymore or you're not even killing the remnants you're you're not killing the remnants you're pulling out bits from them um if that makes sense but they wouldn't have been you wouldn't have even known about the splinters in the first round exactly or you know she wouldn't have bothered with them or even that they had done it in such a way that there were splinters in them but instead of pulling them out you're pushing them in you kick them in over and over again um to kill them yeah that almost feels as though it would be new game plus material yeah having the i realized it would be more effort for this but like would be kind of cool and every single time you do that you rescue quote unquote one of the uh the void runners wait you would propose having to play through the game five more times no it would be one more run yeah it'd be it'd be more like a boss rush yeah the boss right because you wouldn't uh they'd already be active if they'd be there uh just uh you would have unlocked everything in the worlds and found all the logs yes you wouldn't have to do anything else the starseed's even on but it's just like hey but what if we actually saved these people um but obviously i think the remnants are not remnants of them they're remnants of ray yeah but like it would have been kind of cool if they're remnants of them well my initial interpretation was that it was their pain and anguish but it could also if interpreted from race perspective it could be that she is separated into the different aspects of guilt she has for not having been able to save them yeah so just that every time she fails she uh that iteration gets turned into a remnant but then you'd start having you would surely have more than five probably i don't know unless all these little ones that you've been fighting are additional ones and that occasionally they merge together to become something larger yeah it could be but i'm like i'm fine with it as it is i just i feel like you could have had some really interesting plays on it but i realize it that kind of does take away from the game's story of moving on and so while it would be really nice to save these people isn't that kind of contrary to the main story of this game where you can't save them which is why i would still like to see an epilogue where you do have arik and the varuki woman and the crustacean admiral and ray making a life for themselves even almost kind of helping other people that are well yeah and maybe they look to the sky and there's a new world and new people to help those still must be incredibly sad i would think that if i lived in a realm like this i would try with all my might to understand why worlds are even drawn yeah that was the interesting thing is that they the starseed design was not an original thing it was very much like copied from an ancient thing that was like supposed to be found so like clearly there is kind of a greater mystery to this game that might never be fully delivered upon could have been left over from an ancient species that originally tapped into the void well my original thought with the ultravoid was that it was kind of this great cosmic recycling system that the entire point of it was to the cycle we were for yeah recycle planets that are doomed in some way you know that there's kind of a sentience that drives it so that ones can be born yeah so in the uh the rodents planet uh the one that we're currently in when that had been originally marked for destruction more or less by the dross that uh you know the ultravoid comes along to clear like delete the whole thing um possibly dross included because it doesn't care for the dross or even is kind of it would be weird if the dross were affiliated with this but oh yeah if they if they show up to effectively uh take what they can and then the ultravoid deletes the rest of the way uh for ultimate recycling um that even the starseed and the dross are made out of the same stuff they're both purplish i obviously that's that's something else entirely but it would have been interesting if it was all interconnected somehow but i suppose just like irving and also to an extent even verse you saying that their world deserved this and like i think it would have been really really interesting if they had had more of like a cutscene of what the world was like because they made illusions to they weren't saving themselves or so on and so forth but also it seems as though she not all of her compatriots were the same species yeah like maybe if there had been specifically just kind of a uh an insight into the remaining survivors oh that would have been interesting because a number of people did leave on ships but you know what if a number of survivors touched down after the after the fact it would have been really interesting if versus rookie isn't he and the rookie world disappeared over 100 years ago right yeah wouldn't it have been interesting if he happened to be a descendant of people that had been off world or escaped well i think that was kind of the point that i mean if they knew of the varuki planet then the varuki planet must have at least been somewhat tied with their civilization i don't know elders must be in parts of the void i haven't visited yet better keep an eye out for more mushrooms yeah they were part of an interstellar civilization so yeah i don't know i just i think it would have been kind of an interesting and equally poetic way you see ames getting ready to leave but you know what if you did actually see some of the survivors uh finally touching down in the void not being able to escape but they kind of can people leave i know that in that one journal they said that you can leave you just need a ship that is capable of navigating the gravitational forces of the black hole but only void runners have that attack no remember how there was the galactic racer that right right crash landed in the void that's not a void runner that was just a random person if they uh had crashed down and was assisted in being able to leave okay well so james is saving himself but like looking up at that planet obviously like it's going through some but there's a half of it it still probably has some people on it sure they might not have ships capable of escaping but it would have been a neat view if it was just like there were people worth saving but uh but the uh ray's insistence on saving everyone was preventing these people from finding safe haven or you know that forestalling them to some degree i don't know i don't know but this is all you know theoretical and like what could have been none of it matters it's just kind of one of those where you always see one of these games and it's like oh yeah but what if i like i like thinking in what-ifs yeah but what about what is did you get new conversations if you put on the suit nah i don't think so we can go check but i doubt it either way at this point we are dragging things out i just wanted to kind of scoot around in this suit because it's a very pretty suit this is a very pretty game and i i sincerely honestly hope they make another maybe not with the same plot but with similar gameplay just because this is such a unique how can we help you ooh glittery uh this is such a unique style of game that nothing else comes close to you for the most part and i would love to see a version of this that is longer deeper has more stuff maybe a little bit more use in the verticality uh like a glide because we we can kind of send ourselves further and forward but you know some like gliding moves and more movement tech could go a long way have a sequel game where they escape the void and fight the dross yeah destroy the jaw i mean that actually would be really cool you know jet setting down giant like world eating drost tentacle things and a bunch of other stuff and it doesn't have to be about rey like there are other void runners the tech exists and people made it off planet here so like clearly it's a thing that can be done uh it's just not saying that this style because there are not many games like it and i would it kind of reminds me of uh i mean obviously shadow the colossus and whatnot where it's just like more like this would be appreciated just because it's such a different thing and seeing this kind of game become its own genre of a sort would actually be really cool it does remind me of good old-fashioned collect-a-thon yes and i'd love to see collect-a-thons come back but with like really interesting focuses on different movement tech all right well with all of that said and way too much maybe what why you stop here there we go that was such a beautiful advantage okay we'll make our way back hey it's fine uh so this was a lot of fun this is a pleasant little game and i hope everybody enjoyed this it was a fairly short series actually only only about eight nine hours which honestly is i think it that is that's an ideal length for a game i find yeah get on to that i think this is the best view in the game one of the best views yeah one of the best yeah oh yeah you really can see that that kind of inverted upper shell that we were on that was confusing the heck out of me and then there's the ships and then that's the oh right that was that weird bulb with the pleasure ship that it crashed or whatever that's what it was all right anyway thank you all so much for watching we'll see you next time you're gonna end it
