I just watched Parasite over the weekend. It's astounding how much symbolism Bong Joon-ho fit into this movie. I never would have guessed the ram-don was so cheap compared to the beef.
The most common way to make chapaguri in Korea is to boil the noodles, and then add in the whole chappagetti powder packet and only half the neoguri flavor packet with some reserved pasta water. Unlike what Babish did by cooking the neoguri broth like normal and then throwing away most of the broth.

I don't know why, but for some reason this seemed like a classic Binging With Babish episode. I really liked it... And will probably end up cooking one or both of these elevated versions at some point.

I lived in Korea 2 years and I hated Jjamppong, but I think it's because there was too much broth usually. The broth over noodles looked much more appealing than the noodles into broth approach most restaurants take. Also the shrimp being peeled already.
Jajangmyeon is also more like how American-Chinese isn't real Chinese food, but Korean-Chinese. That homemade version looks really delicious and easier to make.

Honestly though both of the homemade versions of the dishes looked delicious! I’d definitely love to try the homemade udon dish sometime.
