they're doing because they're famous or they're maybe you're a celebrity maybe they have a phd whatever jillian michaels she's recently made a video it's called the biggest cardio mistakes so one of the biggest cardio mistakes unfortunately in this case is having watched this video and listening to her advice that would be a huge cardio mistake i'm reading the comment section my name came up about 50 times you know that's what people do because people are no longer morons they listen to me before even getting into this video i can tell you right now with certainty this is the biggest cardio mistake by far are you ready for it the biggest most important cardio rule not to mess up on here it is ready not doing it i hope you knew that was coming not doing cardio it's the biggest cardio mistake not doing it if you do it no matter what kind it is you're well on your way to not doing a cardio mistake essentially in life not doing what you need to do is the biggest mistake taking it for granted not trying your best not doing it if you try you're going to be successful more chances than not you need to try if you try you're going to get better at it and doing it is all you need to do all you need to do some are going to do it faster than others some are going to do it better than others but as long as you're doing it you're gonna get the positive results from it you are 150 minutes of moderate intensity cardio a week that's what you really should be doing can you do more of course can you do less of course but if you do more if you can do more if you can find the time you are going to reap its benefits a longer and healthier life so let's see what julian michael says about it let's see let's see what she says what if i said you never had to do cardio again would you believe me would you be overjoyed because the reality is you don't have to do it you don't have to do cardio you should want to do cardio what if you never had to have sex or have fun ever again you never had to watch a movie you never had to eat pickled pizza you never had to play with your animals what if you never had to do any of that ever again well you don't but you do because you want to because it's fun because you like it and enjoy it so if someone says what if you don't have to do one of the most pleasurable things in life i would say why the heck would you not want to do something that's fun that you like that's a reward so she literally could rephrase this is what if you never had to do things that you like ever again you'd say well i would keep doing them right you would say well if i didn't have to i would still choose to it's not in fact the most efficient workout by any means let's play a drinking game every time jillian michael says the word inefficient take a shot actually no don't do that because you'll probably die from alcohol poisoning it's not in fact the most efficient workout by any means now sure there are some reasons to do it but they don't really apply to most people why is she saying this it's not the most efficient way what's better squats why is a squat better than cardio why is doing lifting weights or or intervals or hit cardio better than going for a bike ride they go for a hike in the woods how is that better for people if you love it then fantastic right then okay great if you love it and you're gonna show up for it is it the most efficient workout in the world no she's like well if you love it like if you really really just love it then then yeah okay do it it's not efficient it's not really a good workout but if you like love cardio then then okay it's okay you can do it like coach reagan loves cardio so she's like coach greg it's okay for you to do that even though it's not efficient so when i go for a two hour bike ride it's not a fish it's not a good thing to do but since i love it i'm allowed to do it or if i go for a 30-minute bike ride with my girlfriend now i'm allowed to do it if i love it but if i only kind of like it then probably i shouldn't do it the best thing about bike outfits the snack pockets if you at all like it even the slightest and even if you don't like it you should do it anyway for your heart the most important muscle more important than the bicep even more important than the glutes way more important than even the biceps that's right even more important are than the biceps they're more important or than the last time i want other people to see fitness health and fitness the way i do do your freaking cardio that's right more important than the biceps but it's a hell of a lot better than nothing so there are days i will jump on my road bike and go for a 20 mile bike ride now is that as efficient in comparison to me running wind sprints no how many of you think that 20 mile bike rides are just kind of like a little bit better than nothing versus how many of you think that's amazing you go for a 20-mile bike ride but it's a hell of a lot better than nothing i consider that amazing good job for you that is fantastic good on you 20-mile bike ride fantastic jillian oh it's better than nothing 20-mile bike ride for most people takes well over an hour it takes almost an hour for coach craig and i'm pass i train most people probably an hour and a half how is that better than nothing oh an hour and a half of moderate intense cardio not better than nothing that's a lot it's amazing but there are days i would rather stick needles in my eyes than run wind sprints so i use my road bike so there's days where she says she'd rather stick needles into her eyeballs than do wind sprints so she'll opt to do better than nothing 20 mile bike ride coach craig will say if you want to do wind sprints be my guest but you don't have to you're going to burn more calories in a 20 mile bike ride than during wind sprints so if your goal is actually to lose weight if your goal is to burn more fat calories to be in a deficit the 20 mile bike ride go burn way more calories than some wind sprints what does she think the after burn is going to be so effective during those sprints oh i know you just do 15 minutes to hit cardio you burn fat forever has she not seen the science i can't go over it every freaking video i've already explained this in my cardio video i've already gone over this the afterburn effect is in fact related to the length and the intensity of the exercise perform modern pace bike ride for 90 minutes go out burn a lot more calories both during and after than a 15-minute hit sprint cardio session where you go hard for 30 seconds and walk back and forth or whatever you're gonna do is it as efficient as a strength training workout no but as i said there are days i would rather stick needles in my eyes than do squats even though squats are going to be a far better workout and a better idea is it efficient at what is bike riding going to build as much muscle in my bicep as girls well no but like what is your goal what are we talking about it says biggest cardio mistakes and she's like it's not as efficient efficient at what burning calories what is she talking about doing cardio versus lifting weights is two different things lifting weights burns a heck of a lot less calories than doing cardio even just walking burns more calories they lift their weights she literally thinks that lifting weights is a far better workout than cardio has she seen coach greg on a bicycle i was in a zwift race the other day on biking can hardly breathe it's 35 minutes of torture it's non-stop intense exercise it's steady state steady torture but i love every minute of it because i'm challenging myself trying to see how fast i can go seeing how good i can do trying to be the best me that i could be it's harder than any freaking leg work out of done you gave me a trade legs last night leg lord got last night and i did pretty freaking good wasn't nearly as hard as that bike ride i did so what'd she say is not as efficient it was 35 minutes on the bike way harder than my one hour plus leg workout at the gym so what is the argument which one burn more calories the one on the bike burned way more calories the one bite way better for my heart i worked my heart harder than freaking last time did the gym do anything yes the gym workout doing legs was better for muscular growth of the quadricep muscle hamstrings and glutes both are important if you want to have huge muscles and have a good heart and have a good cardiovascular system you need to do both if you just want general health i just want to live a long and healthy life nothing wrong with just doing cardio you don't have to lift weights do i say you have to lift weights no lift weights if you want to what do i say find an exercise that you enjoy and do it i don't care what it is find the one you like go do it but if you just can't wrap your head around it and you absolutely love the road bike or paddle boarding or getting outdoors and hiking i'm not going to discourage you but if you're confused and thinking that's the better way to go for fitness or weight loss it's just not sorry jillian you're wrong you doubt me does anyone doubt me how many videos have i made talking about this stuff how many videos do i have to make before i can just say look you're wrong and you automatically believe me automatically at this point you should be saying greg says this jillian said that greg's right how much time do i have to say this so if it's a sport specific type of training or it's related to an event that you're getting ready for yes then it would be appropriate because it's about an achievement and a goal not about a level of fitness so my brother editor steve who bike rides about 10 hours a week pretty much every day and you still lift weights and doesn't lift weights anymore so what jillian is saying editor steve is that you suck that you're being inefficient that you should probably give up bike riding because you're not competing you're not competing not racing he's just doing it for fun cause he likes it because he wants to be healthy and live a long and healthy life you really think editor steve is a bad person he's inefficient he's not doing it right you think editor steve is doing it all wrong why can't he go and ride for three hours why can't he enjoy that and have fun and be healthy how is it inefficient he's burning more calories he can eat more food and he looks fantastic what are you talking about jillian now cardio is the bread and butter of extreme weight loss so if you were an individual that has a lot of weight to lose and you want to lose it quickly hey i'm jillian so now i'm gonna back tread and i'm gonna say the opposite of what i just said so what is jillian then saying if you only need to lose a couple pounds don't do cardio but if you need to lose a lot of weight do a lot of cardio if you need to lose any kind of weight if cardio is the secret to losing a lot of weight won't cardio make you also lose a little bit of weight if cardio helps you lose 100 pounds can it help you lose the 10 pounds cardio works for everyone if it works for people losing a lot of weight it works for people who need to lose a little bit of weight not rocket science now is it i mean how did we do that on shows like the biggest loser i would have them literally i called it the walk to china right i would train them with intensity for [Music] sorry i had to poke fun a little bit because she got me mad speaking against cardio so i got poke fun with and then i would let them do slow low intensity steady state cardio where they would literally just walk stroll swim and stay active but that's not realistic and it certainly doesn't apply to most people why isn't it realistic why can't people spend an hour doing what they like it's not realistic to do an hour of cardio oh it's oh it's realistic for people to watch three hours of netflix every night but no it's not realistic to go for an hour-long stroll why isn't it realistic why can't we make it realistic start changing your motivation change your motivation why are you motivated to sit on your ass for four hours watching tv let yourself move around and you control your life you go move you go walk you enjoy life outside of sitting on your freaking ass and jillian's basically saying yeah because you don't have time to commit that hour to do that cardio find the hour find it stop making excuses you're watching jillian she's making excuses for you watch my channel and stop making those stupid excuses steady state cardio is just far less efficient and far less effective than nearly every other kind of training how long has it been since you've been to the gym and looked around have a look watch what people do they're mostly texting on their phone they're doing a set and they're going about five reps from failure because no one freaking trains hard people train like freaking [ __ ] and yeah pussycats they don't train her my [ __ ] right there my pussycat she's just sitting there doing nothing right [ __ ] girl's kitten see she's not even moving she's literally laying there doing nothing i have a i have a cat over there doing nothing a dog there doing nothing and the dog here doing nothing and a dog they're doing nothing they're [ __ ] they're not exercising hard most people in the gym 95 aren't training hard enough but you're saying oh yeah they're burning way more calories than if they go and do cardio than a 20-mile bike ride so jillian's all wrong and she's explaining how many calories you're burning she thinks that if you do steady-state cardio there's no after-burn effect see bajillion isn't educated she's not like coach gray she doesn't have a master's degree in kinesiology just read current studies she doesn't know the facts not her fault she's famous for being our biggest loser notice coach frank wasn't on the biggest loser i wasn't a coach there had i had been i'm the biggest loser and i've been a coach and would have been famous because of it y'all would be believing me now i wouldn't have to make 750 videos on youtube for people to believe me so what are some of the top mistakes i see people making when it comes to cardio if you're gonna do it number one don't do cardio before you weight train finally she said something that makes sense if you're going to do cardio and weights aside from a brief warm-up it's better to do your more intense long duration steady-state exercise after lifting weights lift the weights first when you have more energy and then at the end you can then do steady-state cardio if you do a one-hour cardio session before lifting weights you might not have the energy to go quite as hard when lifting the weights so do the weights first then do the extended cardio after also she says fasted cardio no you don't need to do fasted cardio you're trying to burn more fat and calories if you do it faster you might not have the energy to put out the same effort don't have to do fast card can you sure of course you can but you might not have the same energy trust me if i get up don't eat breakfast and do cardio i can run out of energy a lot quicker than if i actually eat something to fuel that workout because if you're doing fasted cardio you're clearly telling me like i i want to burn fat you want to burn fat gotta do hip training gotta train with intensity what no to burn fat you need to be in a caloric deficit it doesn't matter if it's hit cardio or steady state or spread out cardio or whatever morning afternoon night whatever if you do cardio what happens is you burn calories whether you burn a lot of them at once a little bit spread it out whatever calories in calories though if you're in a deficit end today you're going to burn fat it doesn't matter what jillian's trying to say she's just losing it here she's losing it here jillian as i just mentioned burns more overall calories and more fat calories during the workout because it while it burns a lesser percentage of fat calories you're burning so many more calories it still burns more calories jillian keep it simple do cardio whatever kind it is you're gonna burn calories do cardio steady state it's great you burn more calories because you're going longer in 15 minutes you can't burn as many calories no matter how hard you go as if you go for an hour at a steady state you just can't physically impossible you're burning more calories when you run a 10k than when you do a sprint for a mile you just can't burn more calories doesn't matter about your afterburn everything you're going on about don't care about the percent of fat burn percent of carbs doesn't matter jillian it doesn't matter what you think which you would really only do as i said if you have a lot of weight to lose otherwise it's just not necessary jillian it's called being healthy you're allowed to have a good heart it's not all about aesthetics you can do cardio for your health it's not all about just looking a certain way you would think i would be the one saying what jillian's saying and jillian would be the one that i'm saying basically she's like you gotta lift weights and cardio isn't important unless you have a hundred pounds to lose you don't need to do cardio if you just lift weights i'm saying hey it doesn't matter if you have to lose weight don't want to gain weight maintain 400 pounds whatever cardio is for your heart to be healthier to live longer why is she discouraging people from doing cardio cardio is the most important thing you do for your health to live longer more important in the diet more important than the food that you're eating i'd rather people eat [ __ ] food junk food crap food and do a lot of cardio then do no cardio any perfectly healthy so then mistake number three the machines drive me nuts because they allow people to do things that we would never do when we're functioning in the world jilly you're being pedantic you're against everyone doing cardio you're supposed to be a motivator you're the biggest loser you're a celebrity i just coach greg ah just a screaming parrot manlet who does more to improve people's health me or jillian michaels who's preaching the better word who's telling you what you should listen to who's telling you what you need to hear and who's just telling you what you want to hear second of all if you're going to do push-ups get off the bike and do push-ups it's a totally inefficient bike ride and it's a totally inefficient push-up inefficient it's inefficient cardio's inefficient efficient innovations jillian is that the word of the day he had a calendar he spread out he'd say today it's inefficient tomorrow it's pedantic tomorrow it's what is happening why did she use inefficient so many times did she just read a recent article talking about inefficiency it's not efficient it's not functional nobody would do it jillian most disappointing video i've ever seen by you very disappointed you're supposed to motivate the world what have you become what are you doing so and it's just i'm not trying to be a jerk but like it looks you don't just no just no what are you now abby sharp ugh geez you're every negative freaking youtuber all rolled into one in this video if you're a great athlete that you've seen me do i mean is it efficient it's an instagram video it catches your attention it gets a lot of views do i need you doing bear crawls on a treadmill no not really but do not slump over and cheat and be inefficient with your training when you're on those machines because it allows you to get off the magazine get off of your phone if you can i myself have been guilty of answering emails on the phone but i am on the stepper and i'm standing up right i'm on my phone during bike rides not outside not outside on the freaking stationary or i'm on the treadmill step or whatever and i'm on my phone all the time pass the time maybe you watch coach craig instead of jilly michael's talking about being efficient or inefficient maybe you learn something maybe it passes the time maybe you enjoy that you like going for your cardio your treadmill you watch coach greg you learn about why it's so good to do cardio it motivates you to keep going you're at minute 20 and you're getting tired i don't like coach greg he's a circle i got to discriminate him shame on you coach craig shame on you for liking encouraging people to do cardio why would you care about our health i hate that coach greg he screams at us to do cardio to live a
