Big Hills and BIG TIMBER!

[Music] all right we'll try it again he's got a poplar right there that stump jumper in his tim cutty bomb it off baby [Applause] now i'm standing on a skid road that i made there's a 700 that goes clean back around wraps up around over the top of the hill back there this is pretty steep we're not far from west virginia and this looks just like all that stuff i cut with my buddy down there john but dale's cutting the job for a sawmill that's up by him that bought it down here so we did this bench right here just beyond that benchnum hemlocks is the line actually i don't know if it shows up the video but it's right down there is the hashes uh two days ago we did all this we had a bunch of snow yesterday and we did all that right there we have a little section in the middle we can't quite reach that bottom road with so i'm going to cut a little spur up on the hill here later and fall those down ah this goes out and the road wraps down he's coming it comes straight down he's at the very end of it i've cut the core out of the hill pushed him up with the wedges and now i've got all this stuff will reach this road i have a huge red oak there's a big ravine around there that uh i felt i followed the tree you know dropped it across this way i think he'll be able to drag it about i hope so and then he can reach all that stuff where's he going where's he going oh let go oh no that wasn't too bad i want to zoom in let's try it but when i zoom in it messes with the quality and then i'm shaky so i'm just i'm standing on a log eight feet off the ground so i apologize if i'm shaking i have to say this is my favorite type of logging it's the most fun i don't like to work ground like this by myself i like to work around like this with uh the company of others first of all it's too dangerous to work by yourself not too dangerous it's just you got to be really careful working this kind of ground by yourself and then um it's nice to drop the trees down and have something like that or a rotoback to process them it sets them out on the road for the skidder you know dale's down there cut the flat and i cut all those he's going to pull them down i had a little issue with the winch this morning it's not free spooling so we had to change up our our plan what we were going to do but i think we got it taken care of now here in a minute i'm going to start throwing some more of these down here in a minute i don't know what he's doing over there don't lose it that log will take off over the hill yeah he got it now i think yeah now i got it all right i'm gonna get back i gotta try to get it to go up the hill [Music] [Music] [Music] um [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] here we go [Music] ah [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] um [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] um [Music] much you can do torch them off and hope for the best ah pulling there's leaks ramps everywhere all that green stuff is ramps and they're gagging me i love them but that many at once and they're gagging me look at that toad oh it's leaning uphill so what i'm gonna try to do is um that one's cut off but it's grown into it see it and it well you can't see it by my big finger but see it so it's free i cut all the hazards out of the way and anything i'm gonna smash well that just ain't leaning back enough now is it i don't know how this is gonna go [Music] [Applause] ah [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] ah [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] [Laughter] [Applause] wow [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] it's so high on this side for two reasons the slope of the hill and plus i cut the stump kind of like on a tilt trying to keep it from shooting back at me now i'm going to go limb this i'm going to try to come over here with the dozer and get behind us and shove it down to the logging road you ain't moving that that was cool
