Best SILVERADO Exhaust is NOT WHAT YOU THINK! - 2020 Trail Boss 10 Speed

afternoon Aloha welcome back to the channel welcome to this little piece of paradise that I call the Hawaiian garage thank you so much for tuning in with me guys today we are all about the the Trail Boss we are fixing an issue that I absolutely hate about this truck we are fixing it today and potentially avoiding our warranty but it's gonna be totally worth it because it definitely it definitely needs it if you are new to the channel guys this is our all-new 2020 Silverado Trail Boss that we picked up just a few weeks ago I am absolutely in love this is my first ever new vehicle I have ever owned in my entire life that could not be happier the fact that it's actually a Silverado that's what started this channel and that's what's gonna continue it behind me this truck is perfect in so many ways it rides fantastic it drives so incredibly well it's absolutely beautiful we have our leather interior leather seats jet black interior now one thing that I absolutely hate about this truck and what we're gonna be fixing today [Music] [Music] well believe it or not that was a cold start and it sounds kind of good at the initial startup for like half a second and then the barbecue grill plus a flapper valve kind of comes into play and ruins all the fun so we'll get into more detail what that flapper valve is here in a little bit because the science behind it it was definitely developed by someone who was not a car enthusiast in the interview he actually mentioned at one point it's as if the engines not even running may not even notice with their engines running are you kidding me [Music] okay that's what the door-open check this one out I closed the door and it's nice and quiet in here it's a very peaceful oasis and then we remember the fact that we actually do have a v8 under the hood and dual exhaust and then we do this can you guys even hear that she's dancing yeah it's dancing but there's no noise there's no fun there's no freedom hello one of the best things about a v8 for some reason v8 Rumble puts him to sleep within minutes I'll say seconds but realistically minutes by the time we hit the edge of our neighborhood he's asleep in the charger and my truck we are beyond the edge of our neighborhood and he is still Happy's can be there's another issue [Music] so mild acceleration there inside of the cab excitement and what's also really funny is this is a 2020 trail boss we have a set of Goodyear dirt tracks tires which are not be Quietus driving down the road meaning you can actually hear the tires more then you can hear the exhaust and also I'm in personally embarrassed because the other day the truck is off I try to throw it and drive while the truck was off because again you cannot tell the difference if the truck is up or running even like right now I'm idling and last but not least I am a complete teenager at heart I love loud noises and I love making not noises with my cars and giving you're watching this video right now you're probably the same way so let's go ahead and release the bald eagles that are being held captive by the barbecue underneath the truck step number one is to lift this thing up in the air we're gonna get the trail boss airborne for the first time ever using our quick jacks guys several weeks ago I purchased these quick jacks got it installed and lifted up the first car ever wear these and it was our SRT charger I love them I'm so excited guys these things are one of the best investments I have made in my garage because I pretty much have a home car lift that's one portable and it stores weight pretty easy well here's what's even cooler the video I posted you guys loved it so much there was so much engagement the guys over at quick Jack actually solved the video it actually provided a few more toys to go along with this so guess what guys we actually have our attachments to lift trucks and SUV so what this is is an extension that goes on top of the quick jack that way when you lift the vehicle up it's has a stay higher starting height that way you can actually learn not only just your regular cars but trucks like we have here on the channel disclaimer these are 5,000 pound quick jacks so they're rated up to 5,000 pound to operate safely I will tell you this 2020 Trail Boss is five thousand one hundred pounds so barely overweight so we all have that issue sometimes but we're gonna do it anyways I'm very confident in these quick Jack's I do not advise doing this if you have the five thousand pounds set if you guys want to lift trucks and suv's get the higher rated quick jacks just go ahead and drag these things over it set up and get this trail boss in the air checks actually awesome sells their wall hangers do you actually mount these great jacks up on the wall you go see that number go there you go now lift which on grassy be mind exactly with the truck [Music] and let's get the party started we're in business boys 2020 trail boss what's gonna happen it's gonna sit on that locking mechanism hi boys 2020 boss is in the air for the first time be happy it's all stealing yeah that would have been a disaster I will tell you this would not be possible at all without these extensions from quick Jack so guys alright Ben pack thank you so much for these this is awesome I love the fact that I can lift this trial boss up in the air so that's good guys she is on there she is sturdy but step number one guys here is our culprit this is what I call our barbecue grill is about the same size and I could probably use this elsewhere but that's not it we also have something called a flapper valve I've had no earthly idea what the heck a flapper valve was until I bought this truck so here it is this is my flapper valve and it flaps I had no idea until just a few weeks ago that existed so here's what I found out about the flapper valve I have my hand the adaptive valve that cancels out low frequencies without adding additional muffler dial their vehicle in the morning and starts that engine and this adaptive valve is in its closed position be so much quieter in the vehicle that they running so that's the flapper valve guys who the heck comes up with this crap a flapper valve really so the flapper valve is being dismissed today now what you might not know on top of having the flapper valve the massive barbeque grill these trucks actually come with resonators as well you'll see these mesh looking things with a weld around it so you have one two and three right near the exit of the exhaust these are little resonators that actually cut down on some volume as well so we have three over here and three over there so we have or two catalytic converters we have our flex pipe going to the flapper valve from the flapper valve to the big barbecue grill from the barbecue grill to the three resonators on both sides and then out the rear we're gonna get rid of some of this stuff to really liven it up and let them bald eagles fly guys this is gonna solve all of our problems and make everyone smile across my neighborhood this is a pipe from AFE power it is made it is a built it is shaped for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado it fits my Trail Boss and what this is gonna do is eliminate the massive barbecue grill so this is gonna go in place of the muffler it is essentially a muffler delete and you see where the entrance and exits are at different angles unfortunately there's no straight pipe that will work for that muffler because it goes in on the right side and exits on the left side anyways link is below guys you guys want to check this one out this is gonna take place of that guy so the vents actually perfect it's gonna match up there and in the exit as well down there now here's the issue this is a muffler delete and not a flapper valve delete so this technically doesn't take care of that clever though I think that this is going to be long enough if I make the cut right there at the flapper valve and hopefully this pipe here is gonna take the place it steps all this how you're taking go there thing that you know [Music] I've been in the darkness for 40 days [Music] and we're free searching I got the barbecue girl guys do I do zucchini help me out yeah Amerika Amerika okay so here is the part I was actually really nervous about so we have our tailpipe and our tailpipe now these two need to be lawfully when dr. kingdom come with this pipe the question is is this pipe long enough to stretch beyond that flapper valve it was a very very close call when I was just eyeball measuring it and I figured just let it fly please please work there's no way this never happens this is a perfect fit talk about a hole in one talk about oh and one okay I gotta loosen up this side a little bit because this side bulges out in just the mix I cut it right at the weld can't explain it and I'm tired I can't articulate but it's gonna work Oh [Music] a little bit nicer out today guys good morning and welcome back because we had a stop last night the kiddos were being kind of a pain in the butt yeah I sprayed some high temperature paint on here just to protect some of this bare metal that I really ground down and should be dry this morning so we're gonna finish this thing up for certainly for called a righteous man the boss said it we do it all right guys who's ready for the first startup I have not heard this yet I am kind of nervous really excited and yeah the main problem with the truck has been dealt with the question is how good is it [Music] that's what a truck supposed to sound like [Music] Oh giggles [Music] do you think oh it's so throat it's a good deep tone guys yeah all right got check for some leaks make sure we're all good there and then we'll let her down go for a quick spin all right guys the good news is it sounds amazing the bad news is we have an exhaust leak so if it's user error or just a miss measurement from AFE but we have an exhaust leak and it's on this side and do about it right now so we have a few solutions we can look into which we'll do in another video which is I potentially just be welding this thing in here I might just permanently weld it I like the idea of being able to pull it back out just in case there's an issue I don't think there's going to be maybe Texas state law with the sound deadening device on your exhaust but taking this resonator so I should be covered on that and that minor exhaust lis gonna lift it trucks not gonna be a huge issue it's a very minor leak but if I like the noise if I like the sound we're gonna go ahead and weld this thing in here but I'm done being on here for today so trucks coming back on the ground we're gonna hit the road and try this thing out on the road I'm so excited for the what this sounds like in the garage I can imagine on the road it's gonna be epic [Music] oh yes it sounds like a truck now so I am talking about okay we got windows up guys oh that sounds good [Music] oh this thing's louder in my truck [Music] good morning guys it's been over well a week and a half since the last clip ending and I have no idea where we left off now part of the reason for that I wanted to get a good sense of this you know caught muffler delete we did on the truck to see if it's actually livable we all love loud noises we all loved loud you know crazy vibrations and bald eagles in the morning and I wanted to see that if this is actually something that you could live with meaning having the truck in your garage and starting it up early in the morning without waking the entire freaking neighborhood up which I love doing but and driving you know last thing we want when you're just driving long ways is a lot of drone in the cab because a lot of drone creates a lot of headaches and it's not very fun I will say after driving this for about a week and a half there is absolutely zero drone in this cab chevrolet put so much sound deadening in this cab that you don't hear really anything outside a little bit of throttle oh you can definitely hear it out the back but just under normal driving circumstances going about 50 miles an hour right now on a backcountry Road let's see about 1,500 rpm and absolutely no noise I can hear myself think I could have a normal conversation in a truck couldn't be happier but if I need to get on it you definitely hear it it creates little fuzzy feelings inside that you really want on a normal basis love this [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] guys will say I really like that back window you open it up you actually hear the exhaust you can more guys this exhaust has really done a detriment on my fuel efficiency ever since I installed it I've been getting horrible gas mileage not because of the exhaust but because of my driving habit I cannot keep my foot out of the throttle because it sounds so freakin good but that's not a bad thing because gas prices aren't too bad right now Thank You world pandemic it's funny to think what gets you excited as a car enthusiast it's kind of silly because it's just exhaust it's literally a pipe that was replaced at another pipe that just makes things go louder and you know I couldn't be more happy right now just to be driving the truck for no reason early in the morning on a weekend because this is so much fun that all I want to do is go outside and just go drive between the SRT charger between this one between the OG Silverado all the exhaust tones are different they're special in their own way and it's so fun it's so exciting there's so much to call it dopamine hits that you get from starting the car up and then every time you accelerate even just under normal driving 1,400 rpms at 70 miles an hour it's it's perfect I you know I feel so happy here in this driver's seat you're not a car enthusiast you probably you know won't necessarily relate to that because cars for us aren't just from commuting it's not just the means of transportation but you get so much enjoyment out of just being in the driver's seat that you just want to do it over and over again but what is also not bad in a complete necessity is yeah yeah you know it [Music] [Music] man I love this truck and that truck in this car I love this line I love these cars in this garage and I cannot thank you enough from the bottom of my heart thank you so much for being a part of this a lot of the stuff we do on the channel is not possible without you tuning in and watching these videos I will say we do not live off YouTube income these vehicles are not funded and purchased from q2 bingham I have a real career a real job a lot of sweat equity into that career I've put in a lot of hours at work but when it comes to the weekends when it comes to days off I love getting in my garage working on these cars this is a passion project of mine I love doing this stuff I love spending time in my garage love's swing time with my family in my garage and especially my son you see him running around a lot of the videos but really all this stuff that we're doing is not possible without you guys and I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to do this type of stuff as a passion project and maybe one day it will be a substantial enough income to live off of we are far from that right now but it is truly a lot of fun I hope you guys enjoyed this one I had no idea when I started this video how this was gonna turn out I was kind of worried about the straight pipe because I have four people that straight pipe the oh seven model over there and it really doesn't sound good as - raspy - just uneducated I don't know if that's a good word to use it just doesn't sound very good if his straight pipe so when I say pipe this one I was worried about the tone but there's so much sound deadening on this truck from the cats to the six resonators that sit on the end of the pipe that that sound deadening is actually the right amount you need to make this thing sound good I
