hi guys is Drew brash with Northridge Community Church I am wanting to give you guys a quick tutorial on how to raise or lower instruments in monitors or in your systems here at Northridge and we you can take this and kind of put it on any other on any other churches or setups and whatnot too but I'm just going to pretty much be primarily explaining our situation here at Northridge so I'm going to focus in on our vocalists in here so Laura she uses in your system one and so I'm going to go ahead and show you guys how to get that set up so basically what we first do is we go and hit bus one through eight and then we have our six in your monitor systems that we have here at church in first service we have three floor wedges one two and three so you can use this for for first service as well but right now we're focusing on the second service with the air system so we have inner system one two three our drum in ear monitor number five and then six so if we were wanting to go and listen to one of these in here so we can kind of solo and make their mix better we would basically just press solo and then we are now listening to what's going on in in your system one if we were wanting to go listen to the drum in years we would press solo on the drum and notice that select actually goes along with the solo so where whatever bus were selecting the select bus in the select button follows the solo um so that's nice but one thing is the select button is independent from the solo if you're pressing select so I are so Laura wants to get a better mix on on the instruments that's going into in-ear one so basically what we do now is we go and press sends on fader and this will actually change the board to show you what's being sent into any one under one and I'll show you that one more time so this is kind of how I have my mix set up and whatnot and then what we're going to do is we're going to go ahead and press sends on fader for in your monitor one and then the board changes to being to showing you what's going into in-ear one now another way that you can notice this and let me zoom in on one of these scribble strips you'll see that it says bus one right up here in the right-hand corner and then if we select in-ear 3 it'll say bus 3 so you can you can watch that and you can know which way your board is set up just by looking at the scribble strips and that way you can't mix up if if you're you know messing with your main mix or if you're messing with your in ear mix so let's go back to vocal 1 okay so um to raise or lower a instrument into her mix all you would have to do is raise or lower that fader so we're going to say she needs more bass in her mix so we would just go to the bass and we were tuned it up and that's it uh and then all you have to make sure to do is go and press the sends on fader button again to get your board back into your normal your normal mixing to you know mix for the for the house so now say your drummer needed more bass we would go and select and we can also solo as well if we wanted to listen to it um and then you would go find the bass guitar after pressing sends on fader you would go find the bass guitar and turn it up or turn it down and then you press sends on fader and you can clear your solo and then you're back to working with the DCA's so now we're going along and our guitarist needs a little bit more of the vocals in his mix so we go and go down to bus 1 through 8 in year 3 is sorry in your 5 as eric so then we go and so and select him we then press sends on fader and then that switches the board into what's being sent to his mix and we would raise the vocals up in his mix and then that is now sending more the vocals into his mix so that is a that is how you just do all of the monitor mixing here at the church you can also use the bus sends up here so say you wanted to go and select your bass guitar and turn him up in mix 3 all you would have to do is select bass guitar and then go select 1 through 4 and then turn it up in in 3 and then you can also turn it down so if we wanted to watch that we can go sends on fader also with the sends on fader you can select any channel and then see what's going on in the right-hand side and these 8 faders so then you can go through bus 1 through 8 or bus 9 through 16 and seeing what's being sent from this specific channel to the different groups but we'll go ahead and watch fader 3 right here and that's just like this is just like using an ox knob on a just kind of like your old analog consoles so you can still do it this way I just find that you have a lot more the speed is a lot faster if you're doing it like this with a sends on fader and you have a lot more fine-tuned control and you're able to see kind of hey what's going in what's going on in this guy's mix because sometimes if they're asking for more of something they actually need less of something so if they're wanting more vocals they probably should get less of maybe the grand piano or something like that so anyway that is how you do a monitor mixing for in-ear monitors or floor wedges on the behringer x32 so if you have any questions feel free to post below thank you
