Beating Pokemon Black 2 & White 2 How Nintendo Intended

pokemon black 2 and white 2 released back in 2012 as the final main series pokemon games on the original nintendo ds console they did a great job sending off the console and improving upon black and white one in the fifth generation i always really liked what pokemon black 2 and y2 did unlike other follow up pokemon games so to say that were released a year or two after a new generation came out like pokemon emerald version was to ruby and sapphire or platinum version to pokemon diamond and pearl black 2 and white 2 actually feel like a new pokemon game just in a pretty familiar setting i also happen to have this official strategy guide for pokemon black 2 and white 2. i remember seeing this at the store when i first picked up my copy of pokemon black 2 on release and i really like the cover art on this book today we'll be trying to beat pokemon white too by following this guide as closely as possible while also trying to act as much like a brand new pokemon player as i possibly can this means that all of our knowledge should only come from whatever exists in the guide so we can see if this really is the best way to be pokemon black to invite you as a brand new player so taking a look at the guide the first page showcases all of the gym leaders and the champions telling us that two years have passed since the events of pokemon black and white one something about this page gives me strong graphic design is my passion vibes but then we have a map of the nova region that is so packed with information in key locations that it's not very easy to see exactly what you're looking at there's also this cool little insert that says we can continue the adventure with part two of the strategy guide releasing in november 2012. can't wait for that one a few pages down there's appropriately named boy and girl then our rival who is again just named rival and for the rest of the characters it has a little description about them my favorite description for one of these characters has to be emmett's description which says follow the rules and drive safely we're headed for victory all aboard the next few pages then detail key mechanics and areas like fishing which is apparently a technique so powerful we can't fish in this game until after we enter the hall of fame it even has a section for shiny pokemon and actually calls them shiny pokemon which is a first for any of the guy that i've looked at as a lot of them just don't mention shiny pokemon at all or call them by the wrong name this guy does a fantastic job at explaining the basic mechanics of pokemon as well as any other new mechanics that were introduced in black 2 and white 2 even telling us how to delete our save files if we really needed to while looking through this intro section of the guide there isn't anything that i've noticed i was missing or something that i think should be there and so far this guide is great introducing a new player into the world of pokemon this video is sponsored white as intended and i was told by dr lava that according to the creators of this game if you played pokemon white version first then it makes sense to play pokemon white 2 version next i also want we are so close at 100 000 subscriber milestone so let's do exactly what it says on the back cover of this guide which is to grab our cap and enter the world of pokemon let's hammer away a pokemon black 2 version and try to beat it exactly as nintendo intended [Music] as the game loads up i name our character c and then we appear in our hometown of aspersia city the first thing we have to do here is leave our room to answer our mom's questions as the guide puts it which the guy tells us to answer with an enthusiastic yes next it tells us to look for bianca but after that it tells us to check out the tv in our room so i do that first since we're already in our house since apparently the tv can give us some tips to help on our journey i eventually make our way outside and find bianca professor juniper's assistant and the guide also references how the player's mom and juniper are old friends which i didn't know that's one of the things i really like about this guide is even though i know a lot about pokemon there's always at least a few things in this guide that even i don't know after meeting bianca we are prompted with the starter selection screen and like many other of these newer pokemon guides it doesn't really give us much information on which starter to pick and which is better than other ones and it just tells us to choose one of them earlier on in the guide before the actual walkthrough section it does showcase some good pokemon to pair with each of the three starter pokemon but i ultimately decided picking oshawa the guide even suggests nicknaming our pokemon to give them more of a special meaning to us so i name it narwali if i could have named samarat when they were deciding on the english name i would have definitely named it narwali because i think it's a pretty gnarly looking narwhal so if anybody at the pokemon company or nintendo needs help giving new pokemon english names let me know shortly after picking our oshawa we have our first ever rival battle against our rival which i also just named rival of course because that's what the guide initially called him although over here in the battle section it calls him hugh which is his actual name i notice that a lot of the times when it shows a trainer like this the guide also gives them a speech bubble which i've never seen before and for our first rival battle our rival says i raise this pokemon from an egg good for you rival after laying waste to our rival we get to explore the town a little bit and it even tells us to check out the electron bulletin board in the gate leading to the next route which i never realized you could do and they even have this cool animation when you go in and out of it this brings us into route 19 where bianca teaches us how to catch a pokemon and gives us 10 pokeballs so i caught a purloin and named it meow meow mew shortly after we meet alder and we're told to visit him later on at his trainer school from here on we breezed through philosophy town and into the philosophy ranch to give our rival a town map and help the ranch owners find their lost hurtier after giving our rival to town map we have another rival fight and then the owner of the ranch asked both of us to help find his lost herdier the guide also says how our rival grew very angry with the owner's careless attitude about losing his pokemon and perhaps he has a similar experience of his own but on the way to rescue the hurdier we level up some of our pokemon and i even caught him a reap on the way which i named wooly there's even a screenshot here that shows the guide writers team as you can see here and they also started with an oshawott and caught him reap as well and have a ryolu on their team too our next task is to flip back a couple of pages to go to the aspersia city section to challenge the very first gym leader sharon and his normal type team i noticed that one of the tips here was to capture ryolu in the philosophy ranch and also in the description detailing the actual fight the guide writers suggest that we use a ryolu with the move force palm to type trump his normal type pokemon i go all the way back to the ranch to catch a ryolu which i named romulus and level it up for a while until it learns the move force palm as the guide suggests seeing as chairman's ace pokemon is level 13 i thought that rioli would probably learn the force palm moves somewhere around level 10 at least before level 13 and it actually didn't end up learning force bomb until level 15. the weird thing about that is in black and white one really learns four spawn at level 11 so i guess they'd change it to 15 so this first gym wouldn't be too easy or something but leveling up ryolu all the way to 15 took me a while since the xp game in the 5th generation pokemon games is pretty slow although it did tell me to try and find rustling grass to battle all dinos which do give more xp although no matter how long i tried and waited to find wrestling grass by running around near the grass i never found any so i just resorted to battling random wild low-level pokemon i then head back into the first gym though with our new ryolu that's a little bit over leveled now and forced palm both of his normal type pokemon to one shot both of them for the victory giving us our very first gym badge i don't know why they decided to make ryolu learn forest palm pretty late in this game and not at say level 10 or so but the guide suggested that we do that so i did it anyway from here the guide wants us to take route 20 into burbank city which is a city often covered by clouds and smoke with very active residents according to the guide as we enter this city we get a call from our mother on the cross transceiver telling us to check out the burbank complex then we meet the captain of the local ship talking to the gym leader roxanne about how he wants to become an actor in the nearby pokestar studios this is a convenient way of not allowing us to get on the ship for now and telling us that we have to check out the pokestar studios later but the next step we have to do is check out the burbank complex which the guide says will be a good place to level up our pokemon before the next gym battle and it suggests that we catch a magnemite since it is a part steel type pokemon which is immune to poison types and the next gym leader happens to be a poison type trainer in the complex we can rip this guy off in a trade by giving him a regular pokeball for a great ball which i then use to catch a magnemite that i named zip because the guide suggested to catch one a second time in this section now after battling all of the trainers in the complex and collecting some of the items we can now challenge the verbang city gym leader where the guides suggest again to use a magnemite to give us an advantage i bring some antidotes as the guide recommended too and using magnemite in this gym battle worked out so well for us against roxy because she couldn't use any poison type moves against us and her other moves did very little damage giving us a pretty easy victory after beating the gym leader we have to visit the pokestar studios up north where we just mash a for about 10 minutes and meet bryce and man and also i don't know if you guys knew this but sabrina is also a gym leader that appears in this area kind of random and something i didn't know until relatively recently and then we can finally return to verbang city to meet team plasma get the hm for cut chase down team plasma in route 20 and then finally we can set sail to gestalia city since the captain finally returns this is a huge city with a ton to do and it takes up nearly 20 pages in the guide between all of the events in castelia city to put things into perspective at the point of the guy that i'm up to right now right before castalia city that's only about 25 pages in once in castelia city the biggest city in the unova region the first thing we do is register our rival in the cross transceiver then get the bicycle by finding the three harlequins hidden in the city the guide even has a full map of the interiors for most of the buildings here too which i haven't seen for any other cities yet in this guide on our mission to find the three harlequins we get the exp share a very useful item get the quick claw which the guide puts a heavy emphasis on a little later on battle game freak themselves in their own office buy a dozen castalia cones which unfortunately fell under hard times compared to two years ago when they were flying off the shelves get the tm for flash get an amulet coin and a ton of other smaller things that the guide recommends we do in this giant city we eventually complete enough tasks where all that's left is go to the castelia sewers with our arrival to battle team plasma and meet berg the gym leader of this city and also meet kolaris who is a mysterious scientist in unova down here i called a zubat that i named it bat too since the guide suggests to use one for berg's bug type gym after completing all of the events in the sewers for now the guide suggests that we grind up our team a bit in the relic passage which leads from the sewers which we don't have full access to yet and there is a detailed part of the relic passage about 30 pages past where we are now oshawott ends up evolving here into duwad and so does zubat into golbat at a perfect time too there's a ton of other things we could do later on in castelia city once you progress in the story a little bit later but for now we have to challenge berg in his bug type gym i use the golbat we recently acquired and gave it the quick claw which the guide recommended that we do here to lay waste to his bug and grass type pokemon with our type trumping move wing attack and then use narwali for his trouble since it's part rock type the guide specifically suggests using the quickclaw for some reason and also said to use a ground tight move against him although two of his three pokemon are four times resistant to ground moves and are also part grass type which can hit ground types super effectively after receiving the third gym badge i head up north into route 4 and get confused a little bit since this route is slightly different between black 2 version and white 2 version i was looking at the route 4 section for pokemon black 2 version for a bit before i realized there was a separate part for white 2 version on route 4 since we're playing white 2 version and here we can fight chorus and see what appears to be a dilapidated village in the sand in black too this village is much less run down and is built up a little bit more but we could find a bravery here on mondays although i couldn't catch one because it wasn't monday when i was playing this part of the game from here the guide wants us to visit the desert resort although i'm pretty sure this is optional at this point but ryolu ends up evolving into lucario here which is pretty sweet after checking out the parts of the desert resort and the relic castle that we have access to we can now return to route 4 and head north east into joint avenue which we unfortunately can't take full advantage of anymore since the official online servers for this game were shut down back in 2014. there are still technically ways to get online in this game still if you really want to but for now we have to give a greeting for people when they first join our joint avenue so i just say subscribe without the e since it didn't fit and then continue up north to nimbasa city a huge city of leisure the first thing we do here is challenge the subway bosses ingo and emin in front of the battle subway with the help of rosa get a versus recorder and then check out the battle subway where the guide tells us to take the subway to anvil town there is not really much to do here besides get a random free rare candy so i decided to return back to nambasa city so we can check out the small stadium and the big stadium to train some of our pokemon as the guide recommended there was a baseball game going on in the big stadium so i couldn't go in and the guy didn't say how i could get in or when the baseball game ended not sure if this is based on the time of day or what but i noticed that for the gym battle section it suggested that we catch a sand dial or a sand true for this electro type gym so since i'm under leveled a bit and don't really have anything great for electric types i catch a sand island name it mussels then grind it up with the rest of the team i kind of wish the guide recommended that we use a dwebbell too since although it isn't as good as sandshrew or sand dial for this gym it can take care of her a mulga which sandshrew and sandal can't do as easily and i just think drebel and crustle are pretty cool pokemon we can grind up some trainers in this weird rollercoaster room which happens to be the old location of the gym in black and white one then once reaching the end of the roller coaster the real gym opens up and we can head in to challenge elisa and her electric type pokemon team i head in with paralyzed heels like the guide recommends sandal evolved into crocoroc and then i send it out against her pokemon to rock through hora mulga then dig her two grounded electro type pokemon for the victory giving us the fourth gym badge and the tm for volt switch as we exit the gym we have to teach team plasma a lesson with the help of our rival where we learned that hugh hates team plasma because they stole his sister's purloin five years ago we can now head over to route 5 where we get the hm for fly from bianca and make stonks by selling this made a castelia cone for 2 000 moki dollars when we bought it for much less we also meet this biker on this route named charles who challenges us to a triple battle and if you're playing black too it'll be a rotation battle according to the guide both of which are new battling techniques that charles learns so he can impress a girl since triple battles were removed in pokemon sun and moon i guess that the girl wasn't too impressed with charles's battling style but with him out of the way we can head into the driftvale drawbridge on the drawbridge we can show this boy a charizard here if we have one for a heel powder although we can't get a charizard in this game this is one of those cool little things you could do in the post game if you managed to transfer over a charizard into this game but i continue across the bridge and into the township of driftvale city which has a lot of new hotels compared to what jerkfail city was two years ago the first thing that happens here is we meet an ex-team plasma grunt who struggles for understanding and lives in driftvale along with some other ex-team plasma members that are allowed to live there i then visit the hotels for some items the guide says get some moomoo milks from the market get the expert belt and then visit the x team plasma base where rood gives us a level 25 zora this that allows us to head into clay's ground type gym where the guide again suggests that we use the quick claw for some reason i don't know why it loves the quick cloth so much and also recommends that we catch a ducklit back on the drifthale drawbridge to take the upper hand with its type trumping water type attacks i go back to the bridge and spent a bit of time trying to find a ductless since they aren't that common i got a lot of random wings in the process and once i finally find a ducklit i caught it named it quack i grind it up a little bit and i know full well that i'm definitely better off using narwhali but since we're supposed to beat the guide as nintendo intended i use the ducklit anyway and grind it up a little bit to head into fight clay the little speech bubble above clay's head in the guide says alright time to see what you can do and then it shows him looking at his watch which i thought was a rather funny little quote to have i lead with ducklett in this fight just to have it get knocked out by his lead sand dial so i just finish off the rest of his team with narwhali giving us the fifth gym badge as we exit the gym we see that hugh has a gamer moment and rages against the gym leader clay according to the guide for allowing ex-team plasma members to live in drift fail since he hates team plasma so much and after this ordeal is done we can check out the pokemon world tournament or pwt which replaced the cold storage in black 2 and white 2. in the pwt there's some cool things like the move deleter and some other move tutors but the main reason why we are here is to take on the tournament in the tournament we battle our arrival then charon and then coalrus in the end this was pretty easy since they only had level 25 pokemon but after the tournament we have to board the plasma freegate and defeat team plasm with our rival and charon zin zolin one of the former team plasma sages comes out at the end to tell us about his wish to bring back team plasma and have them take over the unova region we can't allow that to happen of course but for now we have to ignore team plasma and return to driftvale city so we can head to route 6 and progress in our own story a little bit there's some neat things on route 6 like the season research lab where we get a free deerling and further along on this rat we encounter cobalion roaming around and i also happen to have this cobalion plush that i found in my closet the other day coincidentally enough not really sure why i have this or why anybody would want a cobalion blush of all pokemon but it quickly flees so i head up north into the chartstone cave the layout of the cave in black 2 and white 2 is practically the same as it was in black and white 1 except team plasma isn't in the cave this time around i eventually make it to the other side into miss ralton city where vegetables are grown by the runway as the guide put it the first thing we do here is meet professor juniper who gives us the master ball which the guide calls the ultimate pokeball we then have to go and meet professor juniper in the celestial tower on the next route where we have to balance on these raised walkways to avoid the grass and avoid trainers like the guy suggested we can't get past the entire eastern part of this route yet since we have to come back later for it but for now we can continue up north on this route into the celestial tower in the tower we get the lucky egg a very useful item especially in black and white and black and white too and a lot of trainers are in this tower that we can use to level up our pokemon before we reach the top to ring the bell after ringing the bell we can then head back into the town to challenge skyla and her flying tight pokemon gym the guide recommends that we teach tm 84 rock slide to one of our pokemon although tm84 isn't rockslide in this game it's actually poison jab and it didn't even tell me where to find the tm for rockslide so i don't have it it also suggests that we use a bulldoor or a joltek in this fight which we can conveniently catch in the nearby cave leading into this town but since i already have an electro type pokemon in magnemite and croc rock with a rock type move i just decide to use them instead because the guide does just recommend electric moves and rock moves in the actual description for the gym to deal massive damage the text bubble above skyla on this page says quote you're a tough trainer who can face the wind and not get blown off your feet i really don't want to get blown in skyler's gym so i grind up magnemite a bit until it evolves into magneton i then head into the gym and hammer away there i said it for the victory giving us the sixth gym badge thanks to magnum might strong electrotype attacks as we exit the gym we meet professor juniper again who tells us to visit the airport but before that we have to help this boy find his lost aerialist tm and once we find it he just gives it to us now we have to look to the skies and fly over to lentimos town a small town located right next to the reversal mountain the only thing to note in this township is that there's a move tutor that can teach us some pretty cool moves but we have to move on into the nearby reversal mountain to make it to the next town undertown the guide recommends that we stop by the strange house near it before though and there really isn't much for us to do here right now but you could return here in the post game to catch grisselia once in the reversal mountain there really isn't much detail here again besides the fact that we have to assist bianco through the cave and apparently heatran created this cave which is a pretty cool little piece of pokemon lore to know we eventually make it to andela town which is similar to lentimos town as it's a new town in black 2 and way too with really not much to do inside of it aside from battle our rival this is our first rival fight since way back in the philosophy ranch rival fight which was so long ago and after defeating him we have to buy some ultra balls and head into route 13 where we can catch a cobalion i make it onto the route and find the cobalion which i caught with the help of magnuson paralyzing it and throwing an ultra ball i name it will since it's the iron will pokemon and replaced lucario on the team for it this leads us into lachinosa town where we learn a lot about the lore behind this town and how it's basically attack on titan where a monster attacks them in the night so they built a wall to hide from it and they also have a hideout area nearby called the village bridge in this town we have to battle zinzolin of team plasma with the help of our rival then proceed through route 12 and into the village bridge this place isn't a real town although it does kind of seem like a town as there's some cool things here much like the verdi lake front in the center region but we can heal our pokemon here and ruin this guy's 999 battle win streak on the next round we find a verizon which i caught and named groot and added to the team since i had an extra slot we can now pass through into opelucid city which has a different look depending on which version of the game you're playing much like how it was in black and white one there really isn't much to do here for the time being besides challenge's 7th gym leader draden and his dragon type pokemon the tips for this gym suggest that we teach a pokemon the move dual chop a dragon type move or ice punch an ice type move from the move to the drift mail so we have a super effective move against drayton or teach a pokemon iuc winder dragon pulse from the move tutor in lentimos town both of these tutors require you to give them a colored shard to teach them a move and i currently don't have that many shards luckily in the back of the guide where it details some of the items and where to find one it does say that somebody in the nambasa city pokemon center will give you a red shard so i go talk to them and end up getting 10 red charts from them which is perfect since we need 10 red shards to teach a pokemon ice bunch nothing on our team can currently learn ice punch or dual chop for that matter so i check the pc to see if anything in the pc can learn it and luckily romulus and lucario can so i take it out on the team or place kobaleon for now kind of funny how we're already adding lucario back to the team after just replacing it for kobaleon but after teaching it ice punch and leveling up a bit until the mid 40s or so i head into dryden's gym with the only super effective move on my whole team being ice punch from the lucario this does end up working out pretty well for us though as although lucario does end up going down to draden's flygon i was able to revive it and use narwali to knock out the flygon justin lucario can come back get on his final pokemon being haxorous and ice punch it twice for the victory since all it did was go for dragon dance twice as we exit the gym we go to dreiden's house and while he's talking to us team plasma comes along to the town and just starts shooting lasers everywhere that causes it to freeze over this somehow relates to the legendary pokemon kirum that team plasma is after and as we exit drayden's house we have to stop team plasma grunts from stealing the dna splicers for kirum and eventually defeat zinzolin who complains about the cold and how much he hates it even though he has the biggest jacket on and decided to just freeze the whole city the guy even makes fun of this since even though zinzolen keeps complaining about the cold he did hide in a freezer in the cold storage two years ago in the events of pokemon black and white one after laying waste is in zolan and seemingly defeat team plasma in the city drayden brings out the dna splicers just for this shadow triad to appear and steal them right in front of him we have to try to recover them from the shadow triad and although we do defeat them in a battle we're unable to get them back charon then comes along to help out since he senses danger somehow coming a little bit too late and now we have to track down team plasma and stop them from doing whatever evil thing they're trying to do with kirum as important as it might seem to stop team plasma from whatever their devastating plan could do to the unova region the next page in the guide wants us to head west to route 9 and get some shopping done in the mall but there's no time for that we have evil to stop i head back to andela town next and through the marine tunnel that is now conveniently opened so now we can get to humalai city the guide said how sharon said that team plasma might be in the beach town of humalay city because it has the lowest temperature in the nova region although this town doesn't seem cold at all and seems rather tropical so i don't really know what all that is about here we do fight our rival rival though and then the gym leader of the town jumps out of the water to greet us so we can challenge him in his gym if we want to before that though i visit this random lady in her house to walk her mien fu around who said pokemon couldn't follow you around in black 2 and white 2 and get a pearl as a reward for it even though we were only able to walk it within the confines of our own home which i thought was rather odd now we can challenge the water type gym leader marlin where the guide has some tips for us the first tip is to learn seed bomb or thunder punch from the same move tutors that we learned ice punch from in draft fail city but unfortunately i don't have any shards left since i used them all on the lucario last time the other tip is to use varisium which we recently caught since it is a grass type pokemon so i head in there with some full heals to counter his skull burns as the guide recommended and use our verizon named groot for a decisive victory giving us the eighth and final gym match in the unova region now we can continue to go after team plasma stock up on ultra balls for an upcoming swaraki on encounter and also stock up on as many full restores as i can and since the guide said so i use all of my money to buy as many forward stores as i can which is 76 full restores on route 22 we need to rack young which i kill accidentally and yes i know i could have saved right before and try to catch it again but the guy didn't suggest that so i didn't do it this has happened a few times other than attended videos where i accidentally kill a one-time encounter or legislate pokemon somebody always comments saying hey why didn't you say it before and try it again the guy didn't say to do it so that's why this whole part of the guide for about 40 pages or so requires so much flipping back and forth between pages though which is a bit confusing but it tells me to enter the giant chasm even though we can't get too far into it yet since team plasma is blocking off most of it before telling us to go back to humalai city and serve south into route 21 and then to the seaside cave and then finally into the plasma free gate once again here we have to battle a ton of team plasma members find the secret password which is just resharam not a very secure password if you ask me team plasma and then fight zinzolin again with fighting tight moves to deal massive damage to his ice type pokemon as the guide said kind of strange how zin zolin has all of these ice type pokemon despite hiding the cold and the ice so much but besides that we have to go back to humalai city again and into the giant chasm where we just were since more of it is now opened up after defeating team plasma in the frigate for now this leads us into the plasma freegate yet again after just being there and we also encounter a ton more team plasma members some of which actually don't want to follow team plasma anymore this part was really tedious with all of the gates we had to open and close and bridges we had to go across and trainers we had to battle but luckily there's dr julius to heal us up which was kind of cool and i eventually fight zinzolin for the third time in about an hour now then face chorus again defeat him and meet getsis the true leader of team plasma who played a very prominent role in black and white one but hasn't appeared in this game as of yet he's frustrated that we were able to defeat all of his team plasma underlings and sends the shadow triad on us but all three of them have weak pokemon most of which are weak to fighting so i defeat them all in two shakes of a lamb's tail after this there is a little heartwarming moment where one of the shadow triad members happens to coincidentally be one of the team plasma members who stole our rival sisters purloin five years ago which since evolved into light bird but it only listens to that shadow triad member now since it's been with it for so long so i guess it really isn't that heartwarming but for now we can access the other side of the giant chasm where kirim is hiding a super long and epic cut scene plays where he introduces kiram the main legendary of this game and eventually n comes to help with his reshiram and another cool cutscene blaze where kirim is merging with reshram this is the first time that n appears in this game although him coming and bringing the restroom just helped team plasma since they were able to fuse with kirum now we have to fight this new fused pokemon called white kirim so i use romulus of lucario to hit it with a strong fighting type move as the guy suggested to knock it out in one hit gets us then gets really annoyed and challenges us to a battle and although he says quote no matter what they try no one will be able to stop me we're able to stop him with the power of the guide which tells us to switch in our pokemon in order to best exploit weaknesses of guesses pokemon after defeating getsys him in the shadow triad escape and leaves after giving some long weird monologue and then the guide says it may be a good idea to head into lacunosa town since all the team plasma stuff is done for now and we can set our sights on the victory road and the elite four i make our way to route 23 and into the victory road entrance were greeted by anne who gives us the waterfall hm we then have to go through the badge entry gates and through a much shortened victory road compared to the victory road from black and white one where we meet our rival at the very end for one last rival fight all the guide really says that he added a bouffant to his team now and i'm now realizing that black 2 and white 2 seems to have a lot less rival fights coming to other games maybe just because they're more spread out compared to something like fire red and leaf green and after defeating him he gives us the team for thunderbolt which we can use for magneton since it has thundershock which isn't that great of a move right now this takes us to the entrance of the pokemon league where we have to prepare the guide gives us six different techniques to prepare which include examining our party with an expert eye an expert eye i definitely don't have since this is totally my first time ever playing pokemon it then says to give our pokemon items like the quick claw of course because you know this guy loves the quick claw for some reason to stock up on healing items and then decide in order to proudly lead four members in since in this game you can pick the order unlike in some previous older pokemon games the final tip is to level up our team with rare candies i don't have any rare candies i don't think i found any rare candies on this whole journey and i don't know why the guide is telling us now to level up our team using rare candies so i just grind up the team the old-fashioned way to the late 50s or so to match the elite four trainers to recap the team we have our starter narwhal the samurai muscles the crocodile quack the swana which i use mainly just for fly and surf up until now but i leveled it up anyway to have a good flying type for marshall's elite four team zip the magneton romulus the lucario and finally grouped the varision as i head into the battle area i decide to just battle them in the order that the guide has them so first up is chantal and her ghost type team the guide suggests that we use dark moves for her so muscles really shines here with crunch for a quick victory second up is grimsley and his dark type pokemon team so i use our two flooding types like the guide suggested and switch between the two of them for an easy and quick victory so far the elite four is going pretty well but third up is caitlyn who appeared when the flower opened up i don't really know what that means according to the guide and her psychic team this is another elite four member weak to dark so crocodile really shines here really carrying this seamless elite four run although this battle was a bit harder than the previous two as it wasn't just a clean sweep for the whole battle the guide also decides to explain stab or same type attack bonus here for some reason by saying our dark type moves from a dark pokemon will do 50 percent more damage to her pokemon because that's how stab works i don't really know why it's saying this now but fourth up is marshall and his fighting type team which the guide recommends that we use flying moves but specifically says that it's best to use a non-flying type pokemon with a flying type move to catch him off guard which funny enough would not even have stabbed like it just mentioned i teach aerial ace to groot here though but it does barely any damage to his team probably because it's a relatively weak move without stab so when it runs out of pp i just rely on swanna a lot to get some knockouts with hurricane giving us a victory all that's left now is the champion iris who has a pretty strong and pretty diverse team sure three of her six pokemon are dragon type but unlike any other of the elite four members her entire team doesn't consist of pokemon that all share a type all around the guide suggests that we exploit her weaknesses and again suggest that we use ice punch from the move tutor for her dragons but this time it specifically says how it costs 10 shards from the move tutor to teach a pokemon ice punch and every other time it suggested a move to remove which was like four or five times now it didn't say anything about the cost of the shards which was kinda weird i leave with lucario for this fight though on her high dragon which has a life orb apparently by the way but i'm able to knock out in just one single hit she then goes into her drotagon which i ice punch but it lives and knocks us out so i go into muscles to knock out the dreadagon on her lappers i go in to zip the magnets on for the first time this elite four run to knock it out with an electric type move then on her agron i go into swanna then switch into grew to take it out with a fighting type attack since swanno wasn't really doing that much damage to it she then sends out her archaeops next which happens to be my least favorite pokemon if you didn't know which i one shot with narwali all that's left now is her big bad haxorus which one shots my lucario so i go into muscles which gets it just weak enough before it falls so i can go into narwhali and knock it out with a quick aquajet this was kind of scary because her hackers has dragon dance and did end up going for it and could have easily swept my team but after knocking it out we became the champion of the unova region and beat pokemon white 2 how nintendo intended overall this was a lot of fun to play through although it was by far one of the longest intended videos it took me to make as i spent so much time just playing this game part of it was because i got sick after getting my second cobot vaccination and part of this was because the guide had me do a lot of small extra things that i didn't really think mattered too much but i did most of them anyway not all of these small things made into the video of course but it did make me realize how full and how great pokemon black 2 and whites you are out of every main series pokemon game the time between now and the last time i played pokemon black 2 and white 2 is the longest out of every game being over 2 years by now so it was a nice refresher playing it again in terms of the actual guide though it was pretty solid all around it did have a lot of flipping around especially towards the later half of the game but that's because the game requires you to go all over to various different towns and revisit a lot of areas over again so it's understandable and it didn't detail every single trainer's pokemon like some guys do which is pretty nice but not the worst thing in the world just something i like to see when it comes to these guides it did show all of the important trainers in their pokemon which is nice and some guides don't even do that and although some of the tips were rather questionable like using a non-flying type pokemon with a flying type move for marshall or making us catch a brand new pokemon for every gym even if it didn't make much sense like how it wanted me to catch an electro type pokemon for skyler's gym even though it told me to catch magnemite an electro type pokemon not too long ago for roxy's gym that it could have just suggested that i keep on the team and use but it was definitely a fun guide with its fair share of funny moments though and really not too many mistakes or errors oh yeah i forgot to mention but yes there is a berry
