now we got two windows we got this big guy here which is a four by four the Builder put in and down here I've got the hopper window that the Builder put in we have to frame both of these out because we're going to be finishing these into our walls so here's what we do I'm going to show you how we do it on the big one over here what you want to do is you want to frame your opening to the concrete to the block wall whatever you have block concrete even if it's a wood frame wall whatever type of wall you're working with you're the windows in it you've got a frame to the outer edge of your window in this case it's going to be the concrete opening that was cut in the wall so our two-by-four frame is going to match exactly the edge of the concrete so what we do is I'm going to try to find a small level here one right here two footers better but four footer works too what you want to do is you want to sit your level right on top of concrete on the bottom edge here you can do the top edge we're going to do both up no matter what you do first and you want to put your logo on there find the closest stud closest stud that's to the outside of your opening here which would be this stud here up this end it'd be this step close this one to the edge okay you want to just set your level on there all right and you want to plumb it we want to level it rather to your bubbles of the center and then you want to make a little mark on the bottom of your level which is the same level as the concrete to make a little mark there now since we're going to be framing even with this we're going to set our 2x4 down so that when it's on the X the top of our 2x4 will be even with the top of the concrete I'm going to go over here to the other side and we're going to do the same thing set our level on the concrete bottom of the window we're going to level it get our bubble in between there I'm going to make a little mark on the bottom of our level a little Mark's the same as the concrete there and we're going to put our X down all right then what we're going to do you can either snap a chalk line here from mark to mark or you can use a 6-foot level it doesn't matter I'm going to just grab my six-foot level here draw a line more more like so and draw a line through all these two by fours just like that okay all those marks are the same as the concrete at the bottom of the window now what you want to do is you want to take your little square and on the outside marks that you made the original marks throw those lines through and down here the other side draw that line through like that okay the 2x4 is going to be set below that 2x4 below that now these marks in the middle they're going to be marks are going to indicate where we're going to start cutting these things out now we're going to frame this out with 2x4 so we have to do just on the ones that we're going to cut the ones that are in our window these three we're going to measure down an inch and a half then I measure down an inch and a half each one of those like a mark I'm just taking any inch mark and going down an inch and a half okay come down an inch and a half inch and a half down and aloes inch and a half marks I want you to draw those lines across okay draw the lines across hip run one inch and a half more throw them across that's where we're going to be cutting our two by fours okay we're going to cut our two by fours right there with the saw but before we do it we're going to go up top and we're going to repeat the process a little louder here we're going to go up there we're going to do the same thing with the level again this time is going to be this concrete up here up against the concrete all right get it level mark the top of your level little mark there okay this time we're going to be setting up because our two-by-four is going to be above the window above the concrete make a little mark on top your level and set it up take your six foot level on the bar go from mark to mark like so all them lines cross okay and just like you did on the bottom we're going to measure up an inch and a half make little marks on the three that are going to need cut out of our window put the cut all three of these four inch and a half marks up take your square out and draw a line across all three of those inch and a half marks like so all right mark your first two outside ones too I'm not going to get cut up just cutting out the three that are actually in the windows these ones on the outside do not get cut now with a circular saw which I'm going to have bought over to me here by somebody or I'm going to cut these out but I probably need a sawzall to what I like to do is I like to take my cut line the whole way around the 2x4 so I can see where I'm cutting on all three sides here I'm just going to square those around made my inch and a half mark the whole way around the two bucks works here all right all three sides now I'm going to take a circular saw and any time you're using a circular saw you're going to want to get your hearing protection and your eyewear on because there's going to be chips of wood flying around all over the place you don't want any wood in your eyes and you want to save your hearing too because these saws will in time ruin your ears okay so taking my circular saw this is just a little Dewalt seven and a quarter inch circular saw I'm going to make the depth of the salt maximum means my blade is sticking out maximum there okay always regarde down but I wanted to show you how deep my saw blade is there and then you want to saw across these two-by-four now that blades not going to go the whole way through because it's not three and a half inches deep but we're going to solve through each one sideways first and then we're going to finish off the cuts with the silver so all my cut line I'm going to solve straight through just like this on each one okay down here to the bottom cut these three okay now I'm done with the circular saw I'm going to finish these cuts with my saws off the saws off and reciprocating saw and the circular saw are really important tools when you're framing so we're going to go right back in our saw cut that we had we're going to follow our pencil line I'm going to cut these through all right I'm going to go up and we're going to finish our cuts up this last one here okay okay so now we've got our obstacles that were in the window out of the way now except to finish up the frame we're going to cut two two by fours the top and bottom plates can be tween these outsides that we let me marked here on either side I'm going to measure exactly between there we've got sixty two and a half so I need two two by fours sixty two and a half we'll put one here and we'll put one up top and then we'll those will cut the side pieces in between and we'll be finished so my brother's going to cut those I'll be right back to show you how we install them okay we got our two sixty two and a half's cut here put the bottom one in first all you do is take your 2x4 set it in the hole okay drop right down on top of your studs here that you cut and you're going to be on the outsides first to your line number your line right over here with your ex you want to set it on the line towards the ex okay now here something important that you must do these are loose they're no longer on 16 inch centers you got to make sure that they are for drywall so come back down your wall one or two studs and pick up your 16 inch marks you see you're on sixteen on this side 32 you want to go 48 click a mark 64 80 okay that's those guys set your marks ahead just like you did on your plates when you laid out your wall and make sure when you shoot these down through the plate you're on your mark and you're set ahead on your X just like that see your pencil line is your 16 inch mark you want to be set on the x side flush with the front of the 2 by next one right there and the last one okay I'm going to take next 2x4 up top and I'm going to do the exact same thing reversed at the top and shoot that in and I'll be right back with nailed up there just like our bottom all you have to do to finish this project is to cut our sides so we want the sides to be even with the concrete here and here what I normally do is just take my square hook it on the wall okay get this side of the square Egham with the concrete and just draw a line set my X this way all right over the other side even with the wall set my X this way you do the same thing at the top even with the edge of the wall off the concrete set the outside even with the edge of the concrete set to the outside so my my marks now they're going to go all I have to do left here is measure in between top and bottom place from Itachi's it should be the same and got forty seven and a half and forty seven and these up here before I shoot them this case the side of this 2x4 is lined up exactly with the concrete and all we have to do that is just shoot it into place and the oh okay and that's it guys this is what size your window is the other window that we're going to be doing over there we're going to be doing exactly the same just remember you're always framing in your windows and this could have been a door as well to the edge of the concrete alright because later we're going to be using wooden extension jams and they're going to come straight in here and right up to our window and we'll chute goes into place and show you how to do that in our how to trim your basement video
