[Music] [Music] well hello everybody welcome back to gulch hay farms we are here in our little shop it's not that little but it's a shop for reference house is going right down there where those stakes are kind of shown and there's the shop that i personally built with my dad and friends and cousins so anyway today we are starting the first video of our bar and finish out and so we're going to start framing my wife and i came in here earlier past couple weeks and we chalk lined everything out where the walls are going to go papa gulch is here he's going to help and we're gonna start throwing some walls up um so it's gonna be pretty interesting i've never really done any work like this but daddy stood growing up so we'll figure it out can't be that hard uh but anyway we figured we'd take y'all along and uh show you how we're going to do it so we're going to start tossing up some walls mom and dad got me a new uh framing nailer and finishing nailer for christmas which is super nice of them and a saw so as you probably know we run all cobalt 24 volt max and so we are just adding to the collection we got all our batteries charged that's not all of them that's only a few so we got all the right tools and then of course i'm running off the compressor off our truck um just pull that hose in here and get after it so should work pretty good [Music] i get to use all the new tools vitavo hpt formerly hitachi [Music] okey-dokey smokies well we got our first wall frame here on the ground took a little while to frame around these windows existing windows and so we finally got it done everything looks good everything seems to be pretty square and so uh now we're gonna lift this sucker up and see what it actually looks like so here we go [Music] good [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] let me hmm you [Music] move your arms down [Music] alrighty well we got two walls up working around these windows takes some time so we have to square the walls up this one's leaning that way and this one's kind of leaning this one's not too bad dealing with this corner and tying these corners in was a little bit more difficult than we anticipated there's a little rise in the concrete and so you know we had to flush up the corners up there and it's just things we had to worry about so uh other than that we got to hear and it's christmas eve so we're going it's already just like after one so we're gonna go uh call it quits for the day and uh go celebrate some christmas so we'll see you in a little bit good morning ladies and gentlemen back at it with dad um it's the next day it's actually the day after christmas so merry christmas to you all um we're gonna try to finish framing this sucker out today i don't know how far we'll get but we kind of got a what we need to do down we kind of got it figured out so we're going to finish up this wall we got to put our what they call jack studs in and our headers for the door and window and then we're going to start framing out this wall including this window and then we'll move on to this wall which we got to go around that window that pipe in that window create headers and all that and then our splitter wall which should go up pretty quickly i would imagine um so we'll see this is one long wall and there's no penetrations or fenestrations or whatever in it so that should go up pretty quick and then we have a few interior walls so we have one interior wall two interior wall three interior walls four interior walls five interior walls to do should be pretty straightforward so we'll see anyway we're gonna get after it here we go you so [Music] all righty we got this wall up we got we did build this wall already that's going to slide in right here we're fixing to do that but we went ahead and attacked this wall because it was easier to slide in behind this i-beam over here and then we're just using this dewalt concrete nailer he's a little 22 shell blank see it in there a little powder and you stick the thing down in there and it it shoots it so we've almost done with the perimeter walls these walls are taking along it's just because we got to build headers and all that for these windows and so we still got to go back and build the headers for that window that window and then we're about to put this wall up and then we're going to put this long sucker up and uh should be good then so anyway we'll get this other wall in place and nail it down and then uh we'll start on the other ones all right so we ran into a little problem turns out the building's leaning ever so slightly this way and so when we try to square that wall up or at least even slide it in there we still had i don't know probably three quarters of an inch and so what we're to do is where those two wall purlins our girts are we're just going to cut around them dad's marking them out right now and we're just going to slice into those two by fours to make up a little more room so we can get it nice and level [Music] professional here it is everything's squaring up pretty nicely too oh so all we have left is one two three four little walls and top plates and joists when you've got the frame out this window yeah in this window oh yeah see how good we did measure twice cut once not the other way around i think we can persuade it in the [Music] position no marty your camera camera person [Laughter] got some black paint [Music] well golly would you look at that a sloppy mess out here need some gutters in the worst way ah i hit my head all right folks well we're back at it we're getting some much-needed rain uh it's pretty sloppy outside which is good i don't know how many inches we've gotten but i bet it's every bit of one maybe more my gravel's being put to the test and i'm gonna have to bring in a lot more but uh we just wanted this first layer down to uh to get through construction so hopefully today's the last day of framing it should be i'm sure there's a few odds and ends we're going to tie it but the plumbers are coming in tomorrow to plumb it's one thing i'm not gonna do because i don't know about the first thing about plumbing other than hot and cold water is what you need and uh so we kind of screwed up here this is a two by four wall but it's gonna be a a uh washer and dryer in here so we wanna make it a two by six fall instead of tearing it down some of you might find upon this but we're just gonna scab on two by twos and get on down the road and make it wider just so we have more room to work so that's what we got a bunch of two by twos dad's gonna start working on that i gotta go fire up the compressor and then later once we finish all of this work we're gonna start hanging joists and that'll pretty much be the end of framing so we just have a little bit of top plate to do once we finish this wall and then we're gonna start hanging joists and then a few odds and ends to tie up like blocking for barn doors and stuff like that but anyway we are gonna get after it we got one two three four five six seven eight nine joists up here come the rest [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] hey [Music] hmm [Music] [Music] [Music] all righty guys it's getting cold out here we got that cold front moved in it looks like we got pretty good rain it's mostly dried up by now it's like grounds like a sponge but we ended up finishing up the joists getting them hung two by twelves all the way across except for here that's where one of my vent pipes coming up we gotta figure that out but anywho got it all done framin's pretty much buttoned up a few audit odds and ends to to uh fix but the plumbers are coming tomorrow and so uh i might be here and help them out yeah just a few odds and ends though i mean uh a few what they call them deadwood you know places where we gotta tack on the sheetrock and stuff like that other than that it's looking pretty good i'm pretty proud of myself and my father we knocked it out it's real nice and buttoned up so i kind of give you a walk through the space here so let's go to the front door door looks out to the back of our property that's the back fence line and uh so you walk in and you kind of got a few walls here that's the uh that's the uh bedroom door to the bedroom here's their kitchen area uh sink it's gonna go right in this kitchen here we have cabinets and stuff like that i don't know what goes on this wall i'm sure my wife will come up with something clever um so yeah i got them a small living room just to remind you this is only one little one bedroom apartment right it's about 600 square feet so we're trying to be use minimalistic practices here so anyway master bedroom decent size like 11 by 13. closet decent size walk-in closet [Music] for whatever reason uh and this is where we're gonna live while the house is being built so we're gonna have this buttoned up in about a month hopefully and then uh here walk in right here to the bathroom and so yeah it's got a toilet over here uh and the washer and dryer we're gonna have a mini washer and dryer stackable machine in here uh walk-in shower and a this is where our little vanity is gonna go so small tiny house living but uh it's gonna be nice and then this is gonna be where my mother-in-law lives and she's who watches the kids for us uh she watches grayson and then uh baby girl when she comes and so uh this will be a nice place for her to live she's excited to live here but like i said this will be our month for five or six months or our home for five or six months while the home is being built and so uh yeah framing is done i'm gonna call it down i mean like i said few odds and ends but a few boards of tech here and there and i gotta build a wall for the shower put some boards up but i'm gonna do that all in the morning while the plumbers are here and it all should be done man i'm excited and then obviously this is a 30 by 50 building and so this part is my shop right and don't mind the insulation the wind came through and ripped it down the barn builder's gonna come back and fix it but it's about a 30 by 30. got a walk-through door and i got a 14 by 12 roll-up door and so i'm gonna have to start working on my layout about where all i want things but uh yeah so far this is uh my shop i'm pretty excited it's not the biggest shop in the world but it's gonna work for our needs and then of course we've got the barn way over yonder for all of the uh equipment and stuff but anyway guys uh this is the first episode of our little barn dominion build i hope you guys enjoyed it i'm gonna take you along uh the way for uh plumbing electrical and all that fun stuff uh and then we're actually hiring sheetrockers i'm not doing sheet rocking uh and then uh yeah we'll take you along all to finish out uh cabinets all that stuff i'm planning on doing as much work as i can on my own and uh we'll call it good i hope you enjoy thanks again as always for watching gold shade farms love you do not i hate saying do not but don't forget to like comment and subscribe we really appreciate it love you guys see you later [Music] you
