Barn Find Ford 800 Tractor 1955 Red Belly Update! Hauled - Cranked and Running (Somewhat)! Part 3

hello youtube friends well it's a good day we've got a uh it's a beautiful day and we've got our tractor uh back home to where we can work on it we it was in the barn uh just if you find a deal on a tractor uh or you think you've found a deal or you see an old tractor just go talk to the people and just see uh what the story is with it because uh this tractor was just sitting in the barn for about 10 years and it was put up because the water pump the water pump was taken off the water pump is uh got a bad bearing in it you see of course right here hopefully the light's good enough uh of course with that the fan was wobbling they said and when we got to the tractor it was uh it was the water pump was off there was this rag was in the uh this rag was in the water pump outlet there the points and condensers were bad of course from sitting for uh 10 years they look like they were well worn before so we put new points and condensers in the distributor and we put a coil 12 volt coil that does not require an external an external resistor so you can wire this one straight to the battery and that's what we're doing right now to keep it running now i want to show something here you see no spark right there now if this engine is turned over in fact let me see if i can bump that engine over with the starter not sure the starter well it won't bump over without that battery cable on it will it so if you get to one position now the points are either going to be open or closed right now they're open there's no spark there now there's a point where they'll be closed on these old tractors you see that spark on these old tractors if you leave the key on and the points are closed it'll burn up your points and probably your condenser and maybe your coil so always make sure you turn your key off or unhook the wire we've got this hooked up i'm gonna get it to a uh no spark place so that i can well not having luck yet all right there's no spark there so i can just leave this hooked up for a minute before we crank it um so let me get that hooked up working with one hand i've got my uh camera in the other hand i'll get it on a i'll get it on a stand in a minute one reason i like these uh these marine batteries you can hook up a wire without splicing in or whatever okay the fuel's on now i have cranked this this morning i'll be honest with you it cranked so much quicker than i thought it would so let me go around and do the quick crank on it just to show you the old uh the old bush hog it's probably still usable but i don't know if it's ever going to look good got rust across all the way across the front there i doubt that the work will be put into that to get it fixed we're gonna try to bring the tractor up to better condition uh and we've got a newer bush hog we can use let me get this on the stand do a crank for you now what i've done to crank it this morning earlier and it was cold outside is i did a hand choke here with my hand over the carburetor and that makes it suck raw gas in excuse me so i'll i've got the ignition on i've got the fuel on i say i've got the ignition on see that hand crank right there i mean hand choke just uh with the carburetor inlet uh unhooked you can hand choke it now i'm only going to let that run for a minute or so because there's no alternator there's no fan there's no water pump so heat will build up in there in a hurry i just wanted to show you that the engine does run and the more it runs the better it sounds after it's setting up for so long you got to get the water pump on it we'll try to post a video on that on youtube got to hook up the fan belt the fan fan belt and the alternator this is the uh it just put a battery in a marine battery that i've been using out of my dodge diesel truck so a lot of work needs to be done on this tractor these um these tires are rotted i'd say dry rotted but wet rotted is a better thing because this is the part that was sitting under the ground on the other video the back tires i think would be good these tires are separating front tires separating here so you'll take front tires i got to watch this battery make sure it doesn't vibrate out the other front tire separated also here's something i saw here the welding job on that but it seems to be holding up good i might just clean it up i'm not sure what we'll do with that i think we might have access to a parts tractor so it could be the parts and i think it's an 8 inch so i'm not sure if it's going to be the same or not we're going to plan on start doing a little work on it getting it ready to work and we want to get to where we can bush hog with it without too much trouble i'm going to shut it off like i said i would i want to show you we're getting uh 50 pounds of oil pressure here these gauges of course are not working that's not working go ahead and go around and kill that so you don't want to get to hearing that engine running and fall in love with the way it's running and then burn it up so uh just pull that wire off it's not hot at all so nothing no harm no foul right there yeah there's no water in it so it could get hot in a hurry these engines are not known to run real hot so that's a good good situation with it okay youtube i just wanted to give you an update on it we did get it uh back home where we got some tools available and uh different things and we're gonna uh keep working on it a little bit at a time we've got to build a shed to put it under we don't want to keep it out there where it was because we sort of want to make sure we do know the people and it would be okay to put it out there but uh we want to establish ownership of the tractor so uh and we've kind of made a fair deal on it i like to say if you see a tractor sometimes you can just talk to people if you say hey we'll come back around and bush argue what they want is they want their property bush hogs you know they've had the tractor so long and it hasn't run in so long they like to see it taken and used and got back into good condition so if i fix it up get it looking good take them a picture of the tractor and go bush hog their property they're happy i'm happy and uh and life goes on and the tractor gets used one good thing about the one thing about these tractors though you got to make sure they were not made to run uh unleaded fuel so they will burn up the valves the valves are made with soft metal so they will burn up the valves if you don't run a fuel substitute or you can you can get you can redo the heads and put the uh hardened materials in it
