recently I published a video detailing my journey to conquer calradia as a solo clan in this video I'm going to explain in much more detail how to complete this challenge let's get right into it when it comes to the starting culture I went with betania the movement speed penalty and sight range in Forest is decent but really the main reason is because towns owned by britanian rulers get a plus one militia production and the vast majority of beef defense is going to come from militia not garrisons so this actually makes a huge difference there's also an argument to be made for selecting Empire although I haven't found it to be that important because once you pass two policies loyalty is rarely an issue generally you'd want to pick Empire because there's more Empire thiefs on the map and it's easier to keep them loyal but again if you're doing a solo Kingdom you can pass all the policies you want without worrying about people voting against them so really I find this point to be quite minor for a solo Clan and I think betania is probably the right pick now this next point is kind of optional I went with 50 years old for my campaign because you get plus eight Focus points and plus four attribute points right from the get-go and I already knew I was going to put quite a few points into medicine and there's two perks in there that'll help extend your life expectancy so living to 65 or 70 is not uncommon if you have the right perks but if you're not planning on putting medicine on your main character and you're looking for a longer campaign I do not recommend 50 year old start now this next point is somewhat specific to betania although you could potentially pull it off in other parts of the map if you go immediately to maranath you can buy all the Hogs and if you're a little bit short on cash you can just sell a few of your weapons sell some of your clothing buy all the Hogs then cut them up and sell them back to the town and you should end up with three to five thousand in Dinars and that'll allow you to buy some of your starting gear if you're planning on doing the speed run that I did I highly recommend getting a better horse and a simple short bow and four stacks of arrows if you're not planning on doing that just buy the Hogs cut them up sell them and buy whatever gear you plan on using or save them up to higher troops now once you've got your starter gear I highly recommend getting the mercenary status as soon as you can which is Clint tier one the reason you want to do this is because everything that you're going to do you will normally get influence for anyways if you were a mercenary so it's basically just making money for things that you're already doing like fighting bandits in my case attacking villages and so on you can make upwards of 24 000 Dinars per day just by rating Villages or if you wanted to fight small enemy Noble parties you could probably make 50 or 60 Grand a day doing that so just being a mercenary is incredibly powerful for things that you would already have to do anyways again in my case I decided to attack Villages and you can solo Villages of any size even up to 150 units it just takes a lot of time and patience now once you've been a mercenary for a little while and you've saved up a couple hundred thousand dinars I recommend switching over to becoming a vassal who you decide to join should depend mostly on what type of land you want to own for example in my campaign I wanted to own botanian land so I could have joined any of the kingdoms that surrounded Britannia or I could join Britannia if they had already lost certain pieces of land in this case they had actually lost a couple castles and so I helped them retake it showed up on the vote and I was able to reclaim some of those for myself and once you become a vassal you can start hiring your own Clan parties hauling them into an army and that's really going to ramp up your leadership XP gain which we'll be covering a little bit later but very very important to have now a couple things you want to focus on during the vassal stage focus on defending allies thiefs because these battles end up being huge and you can win really really big battles with a small army which is going to give you a ton of renowned XP for medicine tactics leadership and it also is going to give you a ton of influence one thing you can do if you're really heavily outnumbered and you need just a little bit more oomph is you can take all the troops from your clan parties move them into your main party and then fight the battle because all the bonuses that apply to Medicine tactics and Leadership all come from the leader of the party not the leader of the army so for example if you have three parties any Troop that is not under your direct leadership will actually use the tactics and medicine for their party leader so if you take all of their troops into your own party you actually get to use your tactic and Medicine skill for their troops and you also get extra XP because now anytime you get somebody that's injured or dies you actually get XP for those troops whereas if you didn't do it this way that XP would actually go to the party leader that had them in their party so it's a huge difference to actually move people over to your main party it's a little bit tedious to have to do it over and over but it does make quite a big difference and then again once the battle is done make sure you give those troops right back to your party leader because otherwise you will actually get desertion and people will leave your party because you're way over your party limit now when it comes time to forming your own kingdom I recommend taking all the thieves with you and leaving the current Kingdom you're part of it will force them to declare war on you but it's not a big deal you can either play defensively and burn down their Manpower or you can just sue for peace with them and spend a little bit of money either way it's really not that big of a deal one thing that I like to do especially if you're planning on fighting them right away is to do things to weaken their Kingdom by declaring new Wars for them to fight calling Ally parties in your army running them into enemy territories and dropping them off in places where they sure we'll get caught that will drain their Manpower as well a lot of things you can do to help out but make sure you have enough cash saved up before you leave personally I like to have at least three to five hundred thousand dinars in the bank before I would say maybe a couple million if you plan on recruiting people but since this is a solo Clan World Conquest you don't really need money for that you just need a few months saved up so that you can afford to weather the storm then one of your first priorities after forming a kingdom should be to pass all the good policies now when it comes to policies I recommend passing sacred Majesty first because this is going to give you a plus three influence per day and allow you to speed up taking all the other policies right after next I recommend taking Royal Guard because this is going to boost your party size by 60 which is a huge difference if you're not client tier 5 yet you can probably skip Noble ret news but you want to get this by the time you become Clan tier 5. this is going to boost your party size by another 40. and then finally these last two are our must-haves forgiveness of debts gives you a plus two loyalty per day and Tribune to the people give you plus one loyalty per day and with those two gives you plus three which will cancel out any negative you have from owning the wrong culture Thief so you should never have any issues with towns rebelling there's other policies you can pass but these five are the absolute must-haves so you've declared independence you've got your own kingdom now and it's time to talk about strategy and tactics here I recommend starting every war playing out as defensive as possible capture most enemy Nobles and once you've got most of them in custody then you can go out and take lands if you have to ping pong back and forth it's a huge waste of your time and you could potentially lose lands and make it harder to take them back in the future you should only be suing for peace with enemies that are about to take your land for example if you're at war with six people but only one of those enemies are really a threat and they're besieging your lands you can super peace with them but any of those other Nobles that haven't even come to your lands yet just ignore them they won't even touch you I know in my campaign I was at war with seven people at once and only two of those kingdoms were actually attacking me the other five I completely ignored for well over a year and it didn't make any difference at all I didn't have to pay them for peace make sure once you start going on the offensive to focus on one opponent at a time clear them out and then move on you do all this hard work to capture their nobles avoiding Wars with everybody else you want to make sure you take advantage of that so take all their land keep all their nobles captive and if other people start attacking you pay them off for peace ignore them whatever you gotta do clear everybody out one by one now you could run into a situation where you start running low on cash because you have to pay for expensive peace deals what I recommend is situations like this is stop paying for peace deals just go to war with them but play extremely defensively don't go out on offense just run from Thief to Thief defending taking people prisoner selling prisoners selling battle Loot and letting the income Premier thieves pile up once you're ready to go out on the offense then you can super peace with a couple people and focus back on that one Target and to that last point if your Thief start making money it's because you have a huge Garrison I recommend getting rid of all the garrisons pretty much everywhere there are a few situations where you want to put a little bit of a Garrison in maybe if you've got recent conquests and you have a bunch of little Nobles running around with parties of say five or ten and they're just sieging you down for no reason it's kind of silly you might want to leave a few people in the Garrison but in general you want to rely on your militia to do most of the defense for you because what happens is you take a thief it's going to have almost no defenders in there everybody's gonna come out of the Woodworks to Siege this thing down even if their party is say 50 or 60 people they will Siege it down they won't run you can easily capture them and use that Thief as bait and then when you move on to take other thiefs that Thief has no Garrison so it's just pure profit whatever that Thief is making it's going straight into your pocket and not into paying a Garrison wage one thing that I've found is most of the time garrisons get starved out anyways so really all you're doing is you're paying for the luxury of delaying a Siege you're not keeping people from taking your Thief if they want your thief and you can't get there in time to defend it they're gonna take it so just let them have it cut your losses you'll make all that money in the meantime and then you can take the thief back later I generally recommend avoid putting garrisons now let's talk about character build here I highly recommend if you're going to follow the same path that I did I recommend to start off with bow and writing first you don't need any attribute points into these except for one endurance so just keep two control one endurance that'll give you exactly what you need Five Focus points into bow Five Focus points into writing plus one point into endurance that'll get you up to 225 so you can get mounted patrols then I recommend putting everything into scouting so 10 points into cunning put your five points into focus and then that'll help you get up to 225 as soon as you can when you take these two perks mounted patrols and Keen site that's going to keep every prisoner in your hold and they will never be able to escape makes it much easier to take land and then after that I recommend putting points into leadership next having high social as many points as you can into social to get your leadership skill nice and high there's a couple things in here that are going to be crucial leader of the masses is really important because you get plus five party size for each town that you control and this works for all parties in your clan not just your own so if you have five parties in your clan Army that means every time you take a town you get a plus 25 to your total Army size and since we own the entire map by the end you're gonna have ridiculous party size so this is literally capped out with just our own Clan there's nobody else in here and we're able to get upwards of 2500 units in an army so our clan parties even though these guys don't have really good Steward skill they're still able to field upwards of 400 troops and in the main party over 700 so pretty incredible now granted you're not gonna have that most of the game because you do have to conquer a lot of land to get here but remember every time you take a piece of land it's plus 25. if you're taking you know six or seven towns for a kingdom that adds up really quickly and then the last one that I think is really important is medicine make sure you put points into medicine fairly early on if you're doing a 50 year old start the reason is you want to get health advice chance of recovering from death due to old age is really important if you're 50 years old you could start dying as early as say 55 definitely by the time you're 60 that's kind of like danger zone so this helps save you for quite a while and then another one right here cheat death due to old age once both of these will keep you alive I I would say I think I usually die around 80s mid 80s late 80s something like that it's pretty incredible how far you can go with just these and then after that that you can put points into other things I put points into tactics I think this does make a pretty big difference because I relied heavily on it but in your campaign you might want to lead troops personally but it does help to have it when you're Auto resolving Siege defenses I do recommend it for that perks aren't quite as important some of the more important ones pre-battle Maneuvers is pretty important to get that bonus over the AI Rogue is pretty much useless I just had to put points somewhere same thing with charm in this case there's really only a couple perks in here that are useful Firebrand is pretty nice because it cuts the influence you need to spend to pass policies which is useful for about a week and then after that it's literally useless so again not really that important to level up your charm but again you got to put points somewhere so you might as well do it same thing with engineering it's nice to have but you could easily have a companion do it I needed somewhere to put the points so I put it here the most important thing make sure you get some kind of combat skill if you're going to speedrun it otherwise I don't know how you're gonna do it scouting is number one scouting and writing are definitely priority number one leadership's next medicine should be shortly after that and then and whatever else you want after that doesn't really matter you can probably do this without half of this stuff but I think this makes a big difference and then here's what it looks like to own every Thief we're making about 37 000 Dinars per day you can boost this up by quite a bit if you were to spend some time developing your lands I literally kept every thief on train militia I didn't build a single building I canceled all the buildings and switched it over to train militia because there was just no time to stop and do that but you can see in some of these towns the militia is massive 464 in odok some of the bigger thiefs like ostikan had 580 militia these guys can easily kill two to three times their number in Auto resolve battle so again having that extra plus one militia is really important but that's pretty much it let me know what you think about these builds if there's anything you would have done differently or if you have questions about why I picked something let me know if you want to see the full video that this campaign came from click this video right here a huge shout out to the YouTube members and patreon supporters who help keep this channel afloat I really appreciate your help
