Baldurs Gate 3 - Let's Play Part 1: Escape the Nautiloid

what is happening ladies and gentlemen cowboy here and welcome to baldur's gate 3. now this is an rpg that has been in the works for quite some time um i guess to put it in a better perspective to rpg this is like the half-life 3 of rpg fans folks have been waiting 20 years for baldur's gate 3. the last one came out back in 2000 it is very well known as legendary among rpgs and one of the best representations of like 5e and dnd type combat in a video game format and here we are early access for balder's gate 3 is finally upon us so because it's early access this obviously isn't going to be the largest series but i do plan on fully doing everything it has to offer so far so let's jump in and learn about the story [Music] oh my dude is straight up cthulhu man look at them tentacles oh my god dude oh oh it hurt to watch a brain slug who are you okay um so obviously being based off dnd there is a lot of customization available in the opening i have booted up the game i basically skipped past the cutscene just to get to this to get an idea of what i wanted these guys aren't available in early access yet um so basically i can make a background here and then we'll go to the other stuff so i'm probably going to do a warrior type thing we've been doing a lot of mage gameplay lately um so bulk hero animal handling and survival that could be good um outlander sounds good group in the wild survival and athletics both of these would be good for kind of what i'm doing athletics and perception having perception checks is always nice intimidation bonus in athletics hmm um can trips flame like radiance the deals 1d8 radiant attack save dexterity roll e4 bonus to an ability check which choice features defense all right he's got the same oh here we go athletics religion insight perception survival um probably not going paladin-esque what about sailor athletics religion insight and perception and this just adds intimidation into the bundle um let's just let's go with a soldier we'll keep it simple we'll keep it simple um as for our race we have elves beeflings drow human with yankee these are like your warrior bros so i was thinking about doing one of these because they got long sword and greatsword proficiency um but this aerial tiefling i just get a bonus to strength and charisma and i can see within the dark and i have flame protection so this seems like it might be it might be a good bit i sound like i don't like how these guys look so let's just go t-fling we'll go uh the strength make a demon boy something a tidy slot but the stones are less warm here hells something just walk up that a tidy slot voice three everyone's gonna be like oh man he's playing the thing with an edge lord and yes you're right this one seven looks pretty good like eleven two [Music] um let's do that and uh for skin [Music] like a dark red or should i make them more light let's do that [Music] um let's give him monica white oh i like how that looks [Music] [Music] i feel like a tiefling wouldn't have short hair like i gotta get some long hair on them what's that one flowing locks now let's go back we'll do uh what was it four no six i'll do six got to give my teeth fling a beard actually you know what a beer but the shorter hair would probably look pretty good [Music] swept back [Music] going for that that matthew mcconaughey tiefling raven black hair um let's give him golden hair now golden hair looks dumb with a dark black tattoo style little octopuses over the eyes it looks kind of cool looks like some edgy satanic script we'll do that um okay class cleric fighter ranger rogue warrior wizard we're gonna go fighter strength saving constitution saving light medium heavy shield simple weapon and marshall weapon the warlock sounds dope as well i mean to be fair because it's early access we can we're more than likely going to be doing uh multiple playthroughs of this this is just going to be our first one this is going to be the let's play playthrough [Music] uh skills athletics survival tracking forging hunting um i feel like rather than from balance to backflips useful for showing off and getting away i feel like a perception check maybe [Music] i don't know do i want acrobatics i don't know enough about dnd to know if acrobatics is gonna be useful as a warrior i feel like perception would be more beneficial here okay and then ability points my strength proficiency this bonus gets added to the following dice rolls attacks spell attacks skills and saving roles you're proficient in um my wisdom is high let me drop one from ant and put wisdom up a little bit higher since i got perception i could go i know there's like all i know is there's like a lot of dumb like dumb orc memes where it's like you you basically make your guy like you bottom out your intelligence and he's just like i smash and like the character is dumb as [ __ ] but he can just smash anything um let's let's go with this though i think this is this is good because i got a two bonus there three bonus there let's yeah we'll keep that um tell me who do you dream of at night i get to make a waifu as well um a tiefling wife i mean my dudes are tiefling so i should probably make a tiefling waifu but he got that halfling fetish tiny little numpkin um let's make an elfaifu ielf wood elf um yeah he wants that wood elf booty [Music] recently uncovered [Music] [Music] that's our waifu [Music] lots of uh lots of squid man cthulhu type themes very lovecraftian so far all right and i guess we're on a giant sky squid ship to be honest i have ignored almost everything about this game so far as to avoid being spoiled like i watched the small combat showcase they did where i was like okay cool they're you know kind of adapting what they they had in divinity and that was it i have saved myself from everything just to fully immerse myself in this journey i didn't i don't want anything spoiled dude this squid just disintegrates people oh no it captures them wait what happened why is that guy like sleeping what's this dragons dragon riders oh [ __ ] up cthulhu man oh so if if the ship gets hurt he gets hurt it's like an extension of his own body damn [Music] is that oh i thought it was like putting on autopilot nope just a teleporty connector and the dragons teleported after his ass [Music] too i'm gonna say man squid man was going like real hard a second ago and now he is hauling ass to try and get away use the brakes these are some bomb ass openings uh oh yeah this is like my homeland these are little demons i'll feel right at home here unless they're trying to eat me because they have no intelligence or something escape the nautilloid [Music] might still be stuck inside if we hadn't been attacked main hand action make a melee attack with your slashing weapon cleave ranged attack pinned down okay so i got a little bit of uh ranger type stuff jump doesn't trigger opportunity attacks coat your weapon in a surface to deal additional damage push the target away hide throw dash knock unconscious help healing revivify supernatural power that grants you advantage on intimidation and performance checks this is like my special as a warrior or whatever draw your stamina to protect yourself once per day you regain 1d10 when hit points automatically attack one creature moving out of your reach this is a reaction reactions happen outside of your turn how do i pan the camera um camera left and right a d oh like that is there hang on was there a pan uh rotate delete and end um lee and ender are really bad key binds for that um i would use like q and e but e was already something it looked like e is toggle equipment eyes inventory um skew anything let me see um let me make this uh c c is toggle sneak toggle sneak will make that control instruction toggle um how about shift no okay uh what about left alt no um this is default back i mean maybe it's just not that important to to rotate i need and there's got to be a way to set this up like rotate via um right click or something um toggle camera to rotate middle mouse button okay oh there we go all right yeah that's much better i just gotta push down the middle mouse [Music] i like looking this thing this is the pool that thing came from the parasite now writhing behind your eye big rolls the casing is fragile the slightest touch could cause it to crumble oh [ __ ] did it hurt loot this dude void bulb creates a force that pulls in all nearby unfixed items good fine playerpod somebody someone else got out i think this is the one that i was in that's the one i was in might be other survivors [Music] a restoration pond i don't know if i trust mind player restoration pods i sits brain jar [Music] all the imps what was that scroll a firebolt oh no no no what is this there's just an elevator it's just an elevator all right let's go back down for now neural apparatus cerebral aqua aquarium just houses a bunch of brains i guess actually hang on you know i'm just uh i'm coming i'm coming yeah it feels a lot better um we should probably just leave this guy alone before something explodes out of [Music] free them the exposed brain quivers in expectation please before they return they return remove us from this body from this case free us please perfect roll you notice edema a swelling of the brain causing pressure where it strains against the shell of the skull with a start you realize you're talking to an intellect devourer a minion of the mind flares who abducted you all right good wisdom score maybe i can make the minion side with but me notice an opportunity you could [ __ ] the strange creature making it more subservient should it prove a threat i did save it i hope this doesn't bite me in the ass later the creature pauses listening something behind your eyes seizes in recognition we must go to the helm but the hell we are needed the brain tenses as they're querying an unseen advisor do not hear it we will not survive here we are needed to navigate we are needed to leave this realm [Music] i think it's trying to communicate with the thing that is in the the parasite it like thinks i am curious all right let's go to the helm little guy um where i came from yes it is um i can just jump are these binded to anything damn let's do damage from that and my guys on the ground for a hot minute well that's not good hang on i'm gonna go back i'll go back to the restorer i want to be losing health already then i noticed a caustic bulb over here that i can grab [Music] wait what did i just do oh god all right i almost used up a scroll um does the brain just follow me come along brain come along us tells me i don't want to fight with those dragons this is your end your head throbs and your skin tingles visions rush past a dragon's wing a silver sword and a flash of your face seen through the strange woman's eyes my head what is this together we might survive imps block the path forward you will assist me in destroying them we must reach the helm before we transform we carry mindfully of parasites unless we escape unless we are cleansed our bodies and minds will be tainted and twisted within days that doesn't sound good first we exterminate the imps then we find the helm and take control of the ship we will address the matter of a cure for this infection once we reach the material plane combat happens in terms each turn you do one action one bonus action you can also move a roll the die decides turn order this is called their available actions are highlighted so i might need to live there it probably was bad to not have my dex higher bonus actions or actions you can perform on top your normal actions the movement bar shows how much distance you can cover okay so i can get up to like here [Music] i don't have enough speed wait is there how close can i get to the fire um all right let me just go for a ranged attack oh how do i cancel this how do i cancel um okay that worked 85 chance and um and turn use a melee weapon for enemies near you arranged for enemies further away so now if i were to do let me see if i use dash i can make it all the way up to here um now i wanna wait what did i just do [ __ ] i just use a potion [ __ ] those are my my keybinds um do a wheeled one-handed okay [Music] why can't i attack with her uh out of actions i guess i used my action up is my guy's name tab i didn't name you tab well just for tab now oh this is a full action not a bonus action okay so if i move to here i don't have enough speed left for a jump do i dip in the fire no 85 72 let's finish off this tab i completely missed where you were supposed to name your character whatever you can be tav not enough space but there we go uh weapon set and i get a cleave what's the range on cleave large arc to attack multiple at once let's try it damn wasn't close enough yes it's in turn where's my brain at what happened to brainy where'd brainy go oh marshall weapons um man i gotta go to what was it uh was it d for equipment uh they're identical hey what am i doing why am i am i liking crouch or something i think i am what was the button for sneak oh see there we go what happened to the hang on where's my little brain bro at i probably should have killed brain bro could have at least gotten something out of it save me dragon man i don't know where i'm supposed to go but i'm just like oh loots let me just pick up the stuff off all the bodies now these are just the blast cannons oh [ __ ] lit on fire i think i go this way got me got me right in the gut tell the babes i'll be all right i say the the cutscenes in this are like really nice oh that's there we go there's oh no that's an intellect devourer that's not us us probably wasn't a friend um i go this way will you avoid the fire or run through it you'll avoid it that's good to see oh it's showing like that i can attack this i was like there's a person here buttons touch nothing without knowing its purpose i'm like my hands she immediately yells at me oh scrolls i know what these are um okay don't press some buttons man psionic energy radiates from the prisoners but they do not react um you attacking from here oh critical mess damn yo this guy's dodging what about shove him into that pit i'm gonna knock him on his ass homeworks [Music] oh my god ragdoll animation there um i want my god to grab stuff all right let's try the last button can't read the script wait i'm trying to get no time for you my aunt is not high i only eat an eight though the part wide open unless they're destroyed are you satisfied we need to go relax it cannot be helped come they will not die here i cannot sorry i wanted to help you but lady says i have to leave a dazed woman is trapped inside the pod she doesn't notice you perfect i mean my guy is a warrior so just going around pushing buttons is kind of his thing do i want to know what happened that does not sound good oh wow she just straight morphs into a squid man yeah i think it's time to go might fit that chest wait what chest was there a chest what did i pick up elaborate key oh running yeah they are it's taking a little bit golden onix foreign [Music] oh my god it is bitten to dude's face with his tentacles we must escape now do it we will deal with the cake after we escape wait so i'm teaming up with the the mind player [Music] we need to get out of here now but the loot see look at that i would have missed that that armor i'm not that worried about amps [Music] she juked it does feel like they really kind of like streamlined the uh the combat that we had in divinity [Music] ah ugh [Music] damn big hits [Music] are you gonna miss like that hurry before they strike wait i don't get it aren't these like like the people that were riding on the dragons look like they're her friends and then uh you know i'm i'm a i'm a bro like him don't they wanna be bros [Music] oh you didn't do the dash there we go left click activates [Music] maybe they're like uh i don't know like maybe these demons are like the you know it's like an empire versus republic type deal they're like boss kill all and my dude's like nah we're cool with the other people she's juking these fireballs beautifully oh your spine is just go up and sit in the chairs you made it in time the dragons aren't our friends [Music] oh me i guess we escaped in that long load i want to see where the aftermath was but this is probably what we're going to wrap up just because um longer first episode but then we're gonna some things on down oh he's got is that a succubus and i think something might have broke i mean to be fair the game has early access so infinite load screen isn't uh unheard of this does not does not look good so anyway let's wrap things up here i'll look into see if this is uh because i know there's like oh wait hang on never mind just a super long low it got a jump let me check so i know there was something they mentioned about the uh um oh looks like we're good there we go she looks like a nice peaceful tiefling that's a zug zug tiefling so we went from like hell to zug zug land the drow so this is like some kind of [Music] encampment [Music] wait is that like a goblin army [Music] oh this got knocked out of the ship by a piece of meat [Music] it's a piece of brick maybe [Music] what just happened i was caught by some magic all right oh landing on the beach this is where we're wrapping up that low definitely took a uh a while but anyway let me know what you guys think so far this is this is looking to be uh pretty damn good the amount of like character flexibility and actions and whatnot you can do definitely has me interested so i'll have more of this coming your way uh probably later today
