So we're at a cafe. Today we're going to be going to the thrift store, but we needed to stop for lunch first
and look at this amazing place we found. The food is so healthy. It looks amazing.
I got all kind. I don't even know what, like... Do you know what this is? I got, like... vegetables.
I don't even know what they are... Jun: Looks like a sort of radish. Like a radish, and a giant quiche and
soup. And Jun's getting, umm... Jun: Hamburg. Hamburg. I think there was a podcast episode of umm Sawbones and it's all about the person who created Salisbury
steak, I think he was like insane. Yeah, I think... Sorry if I'm remembering this totally
wrong, but I think he was a "doctor" -- quotations "doctor" -- who believed that the only food people needed was meat and like warm water or warm milk or something. It was really crazy And so he invented that as the perfect
food, and now it's just Salisbury steak. Jun: In Japanese, it's called "Hambagu." Hambagu, yeah. Jun: Is it easier -- hamburger or hambagu?
Rachel: Yeah, it is. And this is the adorable... coffee mug. It's like in a little metal mug.
I guess I don't need to describe it to the camera. What do people say in vlogs? I don't even know! I don't even know anymore. I have a question. When you get a little straw like this in your coffee, are you supposed to drink
out of the straw? It's really tiny. Jun: Do you use that straw?
Rachel: Yeah. Jun: As long as it's a straw you're supposed to use it. You don't have to use it. It's so tiny. Jun: One thing you don't do is sometimes
they give you a stick called Madora. Uh-huh. Jun: And people sometimes think that's a straw and they try to drink out of it, but there is no hole inside. So don't get confused with that. Do you know they're banning plastic straws in a bunch of places now? Jun: I never knew. To... because it's so bad for the environment, because it's just a single -- it's plastic that's made for you to
use once and then you throw it away. Jun: I think it's better for the environment. Yeah. It'd be nice if they... started
thinking about doing that here. Very good. Oh my god, I got so much corn in this quiche. It's good. Jun: Surprising. You hate corn. Tastes a little too much like corn... but I'll eat it. We're trying to be healthy. Jun got his hamburg. It actually looks really good for hamburg. Jun: It's a mixture of Japanese black cow beef and... with ginger sauce. Ginger sauce? Jun: With ginger... *bleah* With... ginger sauce. With ginger sauce? Jun: With ginger sauce. Like a Japanese
steak sauce, it's really fresh. Very good. Great. Rachel: I feel like...
Jun: You know what, it's really good. Rachel: Oh yeah?
Jun: Normally it's really filling and heavy... Rachel: Yeah.
Jun: But this one, it's not. I can keep eating. Nice! I feel like I'm mostly eating corn with this quiche, but it's still good. I feel like the corn was a little too much corn... I can eat a little corn, but I'm not a huge fan of corn. It's a little bit too much. The quiche was really good, though.
I'm sorry, corn, it's time to leave. Okay, we're right next to Kaitori Okoku,
which is my favorite thrift store of all time. And so we're gonna go look for some better summer clothes. So this summer it's been like 38 degrees every single day, which is about 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and Extremely humid on top of that, so (laughs).
So -- it's been -- I don't have any of the correct -- I don't really have the correct clothes for this type of weather. I like form-fitting clothes and so 99% of my closet is like really tight and form-fitting and you just can't wear that when it's this hot and humid outside. So basically all summer so far I've been wearing the same four loose baggy shirts because that's the only thing I can wear and not die in. So we're gonna go look for some more loose baggy shirts. Jun: Left here?
Rachel: Yeah. I feel... really sad... I feel it's such a waste 'cause I have so many cute clothes and I haven't been able to wear any of them. It's just... it's impossible in this type of weather. I really hope it's not this bad next year, but you know climate change, so... Um, OK, I gotta go. I gotta direct Jun. So the problem with my closet is I really (laughs) I really like,
like fancy and unique stuff so almost everything I own is
like fussy or difficult. I don't really have many clothes that are just like
comfy wear-and-go sorts of things like T-shirts. I literally don't even have just plain T-shirts much anymore, and this whole year I've been in a, like, I want to be comfortable mood. So I haven't been wearing all of my fancy stuff.
I've just been wanting comfy clothes. So that's what I'm looking for today. Like comfy clothes that aren't super form-fitting
so I can wear it in a super hot humid summer. This is absolutely adorable, but this is not what I came here for and it would be so short. I really wish I could like take all of you here, because this is the best thrift store I've ever been to in my life. It's my favorite place. Jun: There's a Pikachu cosplay stuff here. It's always different every time you come.
There's, uh, like a... there's like a belly dancer outfit up front right now for like $40. Look at this! This looks like... Look! This looks like a princess shirt! This is like a camisole for a princess.
Isn't this beautiful? Jun: That looks very comfy to touch...
and you say that's five dollars? I'm trying it on! So next week that'll be three dollars.
And two weeks it'll be two dollars, and in three weeks it'll be a dollar. There's several different types of thrift stores in Japan. I talked about this in the other thrift store videos, but there are some that are like super expensive resale places. Sometimes they literally even sell the clothes -- they resell it more expensive than it initially was, and then there's places like this where
it's like, this is the final stop. This is low end, like they're gonna sell it as cheaply as possible or they just, I guess trash it or something. So this branch? They have a bunch of those expensive thrift stores, and then if it doesn't sell there or if the clothes isn't good enough it comes here. And it starts at 20, or maybe they did start some of them below 20, and then every week
it lowers until it gets to a dollar. And then they pitch it, I guess. So that's why I like this store. There's so much cool stuff here.
You just gotta hunt through it, and then you can get some really, really good deals, which is where 90% of my wardrobe has come from. So my voice sounds weird. We both
had colds, and I'm still getting over mine. It doesn't want to go away.
I've had it for like a week now. Jun: Anyway, have fun. Talk to you in three hours? (laughs) It's not gonna take that long. It's a romper. I've never found a romper that's long enough for me. This is really cute. But this is denim. Can you imagine
how hot this would be right now? It'd be impossible for me to wear this. It'd be so uncomfortable.
Jun: It is kinda hard. Yeah, but isn't it adorable? Jun: I like the design.
Rachel: It's so cute! It's so cute, I want it! It's three dollars. It's so cheap, it's three dollars! It's summer, so they're selling yukata here. Aww. This one's really cute! Seven dollars. Jun: Why don't you pick one out
so they can see the whole yukata? Can you hold this? This one's pretty. Jun: Yeah, it's pretty. That's how much? This one's 15 dollars. Jun: 15?
Rachel: Yeah. I think if you want to get one of those at a unique, coulda probably 50 bucks. Yeah. I mean, this doesn't feel used.
Not all of the clothes here are used. I have enough already.
I don't need another one. Jun: I guess this is Red Clothes Aisle. Yeah. It's all by... well, this is pattern.
This is the pattern aisle. They're so... everything's so cheap now
because we're getting near the end of summer. Oh. I want so much of this. Look!
This is adorable! This is adorable! This is ONE DOLLAR.
Jun, it's one dollar! But look how high the... the waist is. My waist is here. It's too short. These are so cute, but I don't think
I look good in maxi dresses. Isn't this adorable? Jun: Yeah, that's cute.
Why don't you ask people over there?
Rachel: No... Jun: They're looking at you.
Rachel: No! Isn't this so cute? Jun: Yeah, that's cute. I really want it so bad. But look.
Jun: Hmm? Look. It would rest like here on me? And then I would just have like all of this chest here. Jun: Oh, yeah, their clothes too small for you. And another one of those (laugh) belly dancer things. And Chinese dresses. Jun: How much is that?
Rachel: These are 2 dollars. Jun: That's nice. So a dollar for each sock? Each shoe?
Rachel: Aren't they adorable? Jun: Yeah, they're cute. Especially
it comes here in the price. Here, I'll try 'em on real quick. When I get walking sandals, I
wear them so often that they die within like a year or two and I'm out of walking sandals. So I really need another pair. These are definitely a little small. Jun: Looks kind of small, yeah.
Rachel: Yeah. I'm not used to a heel this small. I'm trying to, like, step down on
it the wrong way. Right. It's time to try on my clothes.
We'll see how things go. I actually already have these pants... but I love them so much. So I'm gonna buy another pair as my backup pair for when those go, because these are my favorite pants ever.
Look, they are so comfy and loose. And this shirt is nice and soft.
OK, next! Feel like I'm actually wearing pajamas right now. Does this not look like... pajama top and pajama pants? Jun: Top looks nice. The pants
looks just like my dad's pajama. It's gray. It's stripe. They look like pajama pants! Jun: We're going back to my parents' house after this so I can ask my dad if he can show us the same thing. But they're... they're comfy. Oh well. Jun: I'm sorry. You reminded me of my father. I don't know how I feel about this
weird saying on the shirt. Jun: I don't know if I wanna sleep with my dad every night.
Rachel: Jun! Let me see if I could tuck it in. Does it still look like pajama pants if I tuck in the shirt? Jun: Yeah, it's even worse. It's like clown pants. OK, I don't know. Maybe. Jun: See you, dad. Jun: I like the top.
Rachel: These pants are a little short. Jun: I'm sorry. I'm not making this up again, but that's the pants my dad wears when he plays tennis. Could you stop? Jun: When he plays tennis, that's what he wears.
Rachel: Jun! No! Jun, you gotta stop! Jun: And I can prove that I'm not just
lying this about this because like I said, we're going to my parents' house after this and I can ask my dad "Can you show me your pajama wear pants?" I have a bunch of shirts this color, so I don't think I'm gonna get either of these. Jun: OK. These are pants. It looks like a skirt.
Jun: You OK with the skirt? They're comfy. But I think they fall
weirdly in the buttal region. Does this look a little strange? Jun: It does. What about this shirt?
It's just like a plain T-shirt. I've been wearing so many plain T-shirts. Jun: That reminds me of one of my favorite...
Rachel: Stop it! No, Jun, don't even. Jun: ...my mom's clothes.
Rachel: Jun! No! Come on! She has that exact same shirt. That pink, that -- that type of shirt. Why you gotta ruin everything, Jun?
Jun: You've ruined everything! This is cute! Jun: No, you pick all the clothes that my parents wore. But this is cute! It's a dollar! Jun: Yeah, I'll say that's my mom's here. Stop! Jun: You gotta stop picking the clothes from my parents. I didn't realize this thing was this poofy.
Jun: Hmm. I hate this style. I don't know why anyone does this where they put the hem up inside and then just like poofs out like this. There are a lot of dresses like that here, too.
I HATE IT. I HATE THIS STYLE. So I'm not getting the shirt, but shorts are cute.
Jun: Yeah, I like the pants. Those fit OK? Jun: Yeah. That's cute. Don't look like your mom or your dad this time? I'm good? Jun: Yeah, now you're my sister. So, I just look like a normal Japanese fashion... so people aren't gonna stare at me any more. Right? Jun: Yeah. I wear these shorts and I can just go places and no one will look at me? Jun: Well, they will still stare at you because you have red hair, but yeah. See ya. Can I have my headphone back? Oh yeah. Here you go. Top's a little princessy.
No poofy sleeves. It's not bad. Jun: Yeah.
Rachel: It's cute. Jun: That's cute. The shorts are cute. They fit. They're long enough so my non squatted butt doesn't hang out. Jun: Yeah, they look good on you. I don't like the design of the pants, though. Oh, I like it! Jun: It looks a little too young to me. It looks a little too what? Jun: Young, like teenaged. Too young? I'm too old to wear it. Jun: Yeah, if you're 13, maybe. Really? Satin shorts. This is too tight, unfortunately. Jun: It looks comfy and it goes well together. I know. I think this actually... I like it. Jun: It looks too small.
Rachel: I never... It fits really well and it feels comfortable, except this puffs out. And like the cuts where it says your boobs should be is never where they are. My boobs are right here, and...
I don't know about the skirt. Jun: It's okay. Rachel: It's a little stiff.
Jun: I don't love it. Rachel: $7.00. I feel like I should love it.
Jun: Nah. So I need a longer running shorts... ... 'cause all my other running shorts are like way too short. So this is good. I like these. And then this is just
another plain shirt. So I can blend in with the locals.
Jun: Yeah. Rachel: I think it's fine.
Jun: That looks nice. I need to do a final look-through and pick
what I want to get and get rid of. I'll see you guys at home. Hi! Ai-chan.
Ai-chan. Okay, so I... I lied in the last one.
I forgot we were coming out to Jun's parents' place because, um... it's Obon season, which is a holiday, where you go spend time with your family and then visit the graves of your ancestors to pray to them. So that's what we're here to do today. (AI-CHAN) And film cats. Hi! Hey, sweetie. Hisashiburi, it's been a whi--Oh, yeah. I smell like other cats. Gotta get rid of that smell. Got to get the I smell. Hi, Koko. Oh no, who's this? Ugh, who's this from? Goodbye, goodbye. Uh, well, *cough* excuse me.
We're on our way to the graves now, which we obviously can't film, and then after that we'll be going to Jun's uncle's house to greet, I guess you would say.
Jun: Yeah. Just pay our respects and stuff, and then we'll be heading home, but I've had about all of the activity I could handle for the day, so I think we're gonna end the vlog here. Jun: We're still sick too. Yeah, we're still, um, it's been, it's been like a week, maybe a little more than a week. This cold is taking a real long
time to go away fully, so... I'm gonna... I'm gonna rest for the rest of the day. It's excluding the stuff we're doing now. Anyway, thank you guys for watching, and we'll see you again later. Bye!
