Kidnapping ladybugs from public Japanese parks

[Music] he works is like a wait life hey guys as most of you know by now we've been having problems with aphids in our garden and I'm so tired of them so today I thought we would go out and try to catch some ladybugs and see if that will solve the problem for us about my gardening hat um ready to go we also have some exciting news today the entire time that we've been on YouTube we've been using Panasonic Lumix cameras right now we use the gh 5 for everything and Panasonic noticed us and they sent us their newest camera to film with this is the G 100 and I'm really excited to use it they're also going to come down and film us filming with their camera for their own promotional video and they're sponsoring us to make a video using this camera they didn't care what kind of video they just wanted us to make like a normal video for us so I told them I wanted to film us catching ladybugs and they're like okay cool that sounds interesting I guess so they also sent us macro lenses to use because I've been wanting a macro lens to get close-up pictures of bugs for like forever in a really long time yes I am rambling I'm just really excited I guess we could talk about this on the way yeah that's get going and we'll switch over to this so we're here at a Riverside Park which is right across the street we happen to be in the parking lot of my favorite pastry shop in Japan up in me and surprised us there is a cute little flower shop here so I thought before we go look for ladybugs we could check that out real quick of course let's go Rachel look at this one this is super sunflower y'all know how much I like some flowers that's good this one I still don't own any so I definitely want one of these really really cute Japan has a lot of Aussie side hydrangeas are native here and so they have so many different types that they've cultivated they're really beautiful okay Jun is very excited about this Momiji we learned before from another plant store that while the new stems are growing for Momiji you can shape them so that they kind of fall downward and I think June's been wanting one leg so I'm getting a chemo D and June is getting his Momiji I love them a lot I love both yes I love this let's make sure we get enough ladybugs to keep them safe he's asking a question what are we doing I think what we're right next to a kindergarten and the little kids are really excited but I don't think I should film them but they're very cute funny job it was so lovely I loved it yeah yeah I'm really happy to be stuck there yeah now let's look for ladybugs even if we only find one ladybug I guess I'm okay with it now yeah so we made it here I don't see a lot of places we can look for ladybugs so I'm a little worried we'll have to walk a little bit and see what we can find [Music] look the crowds everywhere walk you oh he's eating something some these guys are big see anything hey flower Oh flower but the stem is very very hard and there's no aphids good night that Sun then no ladybugs here unfortunately zero so we're gonna head to another spot before we go I want to start with my favorite story this is opener I haven't been to this branch before I usually go to the one near the airport but they have super delicious cakes here giant rosemary bush this is huge us also good yeah okay this is my favorite one it's banana walnut caramel Kurt and it is delicious and it's my favorite cake that I've had in Japan so far if you're ever in fo Kofa I recommend trying this one amazing that also had a citrus trace which was really good I really like sweets that have a little bit of citrus in it although this one doesn't it's just banana but it's good to some otakus that looks really good [Music] Oh God looks amazing yay yes what a panic chaos ADA hi otherwise I can't wait to eat those [Music] I hey guys we made it to the beach as you can see there's absolutely no one else here so we have our masks if we need them but I would prefer not to wear them for as long as possible because it's really hot and humid and it makes my makeup melt Jim look at the giant boat you call that a boat I call it a boat that's not what other people would call it but look how big it is compared to the bridge it's all right the reason we chose this Beach is because we got recommended it by someone else who has been here and said there might be some trash here for us to pick up during one of our cleanups so I also wanted to check to see what the beaches were like in addition to catching the trash we do she's eating something what does she have it's huge oh no oh no she's flying away by this Beach is split into north and south sides by this little garden area in the middle they have a number of plants here but I didn't see any ladybugs they do have a cute little shrine milt June it's a little caterpillar there are so many caterpillars hanging from the trees and just swaying along this path it's very frightening Cheers I just noticed there's so many up on the top of the shine look oh look all the caterpillars this is exactly what it was like it Cincinnati when I was telling you on our campus during the caterpillar mating season they are all over the walls and stuff outside there's something there everywhere I think I found it they think it's this caterpillar the tea tussock buff and it says this one has toxins that can cause rashes and dizziness and maybe nausea so let's probably just not touch no no touching the caterpillars with this one I can finally see there's thread both on the top and finally wow oh my god okay so look behind you no I don't want you you're scaring me let's depart the caterpillar danger zone before when lands on us Oh Rachel look at this tall flower Dave might be covered with aphids and then maybe their little ladybugs exactly what we wanted to look for it awesome June it's a little bit all right sorry I mean oh yeah yeah there's so much tall grass here it's really pretty alright let's do this hydrangeas are not flowers there are trees not trees bushes do you know they're trees bushes hey table bushes it's a tree I can't fight you about this anymore Japan has a word for bush but it includes the kanji for tree it's literally short tree and so Jun always calls bushes trees which I violently reject there's nothing inside yet okay yeah kind of fun I guess we should look for some ladybugs there's one there ladybug Jared's a black lady bug repellent Oh what you dropped it oh it's a little boy anymore [Music] I see one June oh yes June stop dropping the ladybugs got her yes we're kind of late and she's adorable finally she get nice so cute oh yes do you like to come with us ok let's move to a different spot nice good work June ladybugs she's so cute let's get some more then we need to find larvae there she is yes ok there's a large rocks slash Hornet let's move let's move on to a different spot I feel like we're kidnapping ladybugs kidnapping the ladybugs okay careful careful careful don't shut the lid on her there's a norvo yes he's really active is this game [Music] there's a whole bunch on this tree here's here's a little er oh I would you like to come eat out aphids at home I want to get some larvae because they ate a lot and then they can't leave so this is the larva stage of a ladybug thanks Rachel yes that is the Q plus stage that you were talking about right yes so do you it's in the process of becoming a ladybug oh that one is already turning into a lady yes turning into a lady maybe well I mean who knows who knows what they want to do what there are minors Jim this is a really good spot there's so much food there's work there there there there there there he's like I don't want to go on that leaf look at how much food I have on this leaf okay this is a really cute little area I really like how they let a lot of the grass and weeds grow out all the way here dressed like a public park okay I don't like constantly mow it so that it's like short and aesthetic which I don't even like anymore yes the long grass is so important for good bugs I think that they're more beautiful than just like I mean it does look natural to me yeah and also all of the ladybugs that we found are on super tall wildflowers right so if they were constantly blowing these down there wouldn't be any ladybugs here well can I can I can I give this thing speech of grandpa so that I don't have to cut his grass in his yard anymore is it okay grandpa most of them are up at the top trying to escape but we got larvae and we got ladybugs and that was a very constructive way to spend weekends June says a week but he did all the work I just filmed with the camera oh thanks dude okay see you guys at home when we release them into our garden we have arrived home with our ladybugs and before releasing these poor things into our garden we have to introduce our cats to them no oka season [Music] ladybug hi cookie pops ladybug Oh June another one escaped goodbye anyway okay so one ladybug here I want most of them on this plant that's where most of the remaining aphids are ladies yep all right there we go [Music] she's like this flowers dumb I want a different one
