Back To The Basics : Words of Faith

[Music] hello everyone i'm jerry savelle welcome to back to the basics what a joy to have you join with us today and i want to say once again i said it on some previous programs but i want to say it once again thank you so very much for communicating with us thank you for letting us know how that this broadcast is touching your heart ministering to you and helping you in your faith in god's word you know one of the reasons why we were impressed by the holy spirit to begin this special podcast is there are so many new people that are coming into the kingdom you know just in my latest reports that i have received from our social media we have had a lot of new people that have tuned into our television broadcast who have come to our meetings who are following us on facebook and twitter and so forth and it's such a joy to know that we're able to minister to a whole new group of people so that's one of the reasons why we are going back and teaching the basic principles of the life of faith now those of you that have been in this for quite some time it never hurts to hear it again as i've mentioned in the past i am now celebrating 52 years of ministry 52 years of walking with the lord and 52 years of living by faith and you know i never get tired of hearing sermons on faith i listen to them almost every day from my mentors that that taught me the life of faith way back in 1969 kenneth copeland kenneth hagin oral roberts and t.l osborn and i still love listening to their messages in fact once again as i've said on all the previous broadcasts romans 10 17 so then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of god you can never hear the word of faith too much so i want to encourage you listen as often as you can and if something i say today ministers to you or or just you know touches a spot in your heart go back and watch it again and take notes and as a result of it i believe praise god your faith is going to grow and it's going to reach a place to where you begin to experience what jesus said and nothing shall be impossible unto you now today we're going to be talking about faith-filled words faith-filled words and i want to begin in the famous faith chapter mark the 11th chapter and i want to begin reading from verse 12. you have your bibles why don't you follow along with me and on tomorrow when they were coming from bethany he was hungry speaking of jesus and seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves he came if happily he thought or he might find something therein and when he came to it he found nothing but leaves for the time of figs was not yet now since it didn't have figs on the tree jesus takes this opportunity to teach his disciples on the subject of faith and notice verse 14 and jesus answered and said unto it who's he talking to the fig tree and he said no man eat fruit of thee hereafter forever and the disciples heard it now i want you to to to understand in fact endeavor to get a mental picture of this see jesus walking out there and looking at this fig tree and seeing that there's no figs on it and the disciples standing around and wondering what is he going to do now you know he always caught him by surprise and so he says to the fig tree no man eat fruit of thee hereafter forever and the bible says and the disciples heard it they heard him say that now in the natural nothing happened they couldn't see anything had changed in that fig tree however but if you uh keep reading it goes on to say that when they let me let me go to verse 20 that's where it says it and in the morning as they passed by they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots now notice this is the next morning approximately 24 hours later and peter calling to remembrance saith unto him master behold the fig tree which thou curseth is withered away now notice they heard him say this to the fig tree the day before but nothing in the natural happened but the next morning when they saw that fig tree as they passed by they were shocked and peter spoke them said master look that fig tree which you spoke to it has now withered up from the roots and then jesus said in verse 22 he answered and saith unto them have faith in god now this shows us that all of this was done in order to teach them a lesson on faith now there are other translations and we've spoken about this before their other translation says have the god kind of faith and still another translation says have the faith of god so in other words what jesus is saying is this is how the god kind of faith operates it speaks now to prove that let me remind you if you go back to genesis chapter 1 and the bible says in the beginning god created the heaven and the earth and the earth was void and with and without it was void and and the spirit of god moved across the face of the waters and then god said and notice god began to speak let there be light and it says and there was light another translation from the literal hebrew it says and god said light be and light was so notice when god decides to release his faith how does he do it primarily by words he releases words words that are filled with faith so when he said light be those words were filled with the faith of god and light was now if you keep reading genesis chapter 1 every time god wanted to create something the first thing he did was and god said and you'll see at the end of that verse and it was so and then he wanted to create something else and god said and you'll see at the end of that verse and it was so and god said and it was so and god said and it was so now jesus picks up on this principle here in the 11th chapter of mark and he said gentlemen and i'm paraphrasing the reason that fig tree withered is because i am operating in the god kind of faith i said to that fig tree the day before wither up and bear no fruit ever again and it obeyed me and notice here he says now you can do the same thing if you have faith in god if you have the god kind of faith so notice here jesus is teaching basic principles of how to release the god kind of faith and folks there's just no way around it it has everything to do with the words of your mouth you need to learn to take control over your mouth i'm going to say that again take control over your mouth you need to learn to be cautious about what comes out of your mouth now notice in verse 23 jesus continues talking about this principle of releasing the god kind of faith through the words of your mouth then he says for verily i say unto you that whosoever shall say unto this mountain be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea and shall not doubt in his heart but believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass he shall have whatsoever he saith now folks i've heard people say this because you know they don't understand now the first person i ever heard teach on this was kenneth copeland back in 1969 and it was in a sermon that he just simply called the word of faith now he gave credit to him learning this principle to kenneth hagin kenneth hagin was a man that that lived a long long time preached the word of faith for over 60 years and his most famous sermons came from the 11th chapter of mark in fact brother hagin was raised up from a death bed as a young boy he was never to get past about 17 18 years old god raised him up healed him raised him up and told him teach my people faith and this is where kenneth hagin learned faith coming up off that deathbed he learned the power of words he learned that if he spoke words of faith and believed that they would come to pass then he will have whatsoever he saith now i learned this way back in 1969. i didn't know anything about this i didn't know the power of words in fact uh my wife and i talked just like the rest of the world i mean whatever came into our mind that's what we said you know if if we felt sick we went around talking sick if we thought we was going broke we went around talking we're going broke if we thought we would we won't lose everything we had we talk we're going to lose everything we've got and then you know things like nothing's working for us poor old us poor old me i don't know what we're going to do we just talked negative all the time why because that's the way i was raised and most of you were raised the same way i had no idea that i was my greatest enemy you know when you learn about the power words you really don't need a devil you need you need to take control over your own mouth you need to take control over what comes out of your mouth and so this is where we learn this principle that if we believe that those things which we saith shall come to pass then we shall have whatsoever we say now carol and i made a pact with one another when we began learning this we said to one another if you hear me carolyn saying something negative saying something that doesn't line up with the word of god i want you to stop right then and say out loud jerry that's your confession i believe every word of it and you'll have what you say and if i hear you talking negative i'm going to stop you and i'm going to say to you carolyn uh carolyn i believe what you say is going to come to pass and you shall have it and we corrected each other by that now first you have to make a decision do it in love you know because when we first started this it almost got to be uh you know competition uh she's she's corrected me three times a day i'm gonna correct her six times no you can't do it that way stay out of strife avoid strife at any cost now we were being one another's uh cheerleaders and motivators and eventually we got to the place to where we no longer talk negative now that was 52 years ago and i don't talk negative today negative vocabulary is not part of my vocabulary i learned the power of words and that i could have what i say now jesus said this is how you release the god kind of faith now before we end today's broadcast i want you to go with me if you have your bibles to proverbs chapter 6. proverbs chapter 6 and it talks about the power of words notice this in verse 2 thou art snared with the words of thy mouth another translation says you are taken captive with the words of your mouth thou are taken with the words of your mouth now he's telling us you need to be selective about what comes out of your mouth now the only way that you can learn to be selective is that you're going to have to replace what you have put in your heart all these years and you're going to have to replace it with the word of god now very quickly turn over to matthew chapter 12. jesus made this statement in verse 37 for by thy words thou shalt be justified and by thy words thou shalt be condemned but then notice back up in verse 34 he says for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh whatever is in your heart in abundance that's what's going to come out of your mouth you know if if talking lack and talking sickness and disease and talking poverty lack and won't if that's what you're talking then it's the reason why is because that's what's in your heart and you've got to replace that your heart is like a computer you got to reprogram it and you have to do it with the word of god you go through the word and see what the bible says instead of talking woe is me and i don't know if we're ever going to make it no the bible says my god shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by christ jesus the bible says the grass withers the flower fades but the word of our god shall stand forever the bible says that heaven and earth might pass away but not one word from god's and so you need to learn to speak god's word and you need to learn to spend quality time in the word so that you get it in your heart in abundance and then out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks so this is the basic principle of releasing the god kind of faith you get the word in your heart you release it out of your mouth and then you believe that what you said shall come to pass that's what i've done that's what millions of other people have learned around the world and praise god you can do it too so i want to encourage you spend some time studying the bible about the power of words and then make the quality decision from this day forward i'm going to be selective about what comes out of my mouth if it doesn't line up with the
