Avoid Being Pickpocketed (Travel Tips and Tricks)

hey there in today's video I'm going to share tips and tricks to help you avoid and getting pickpocketed when you travel the thieves trying to steal from you used to pick your pockets and travelers like you have gotten smarter there are ways that you can pack your valuables so that they do not get stolen there are things that you can do and wear so that you are not pickpocketed in a high tourist area RFID technology is only part of your defensive travel gear so I have packing tips and tourist tricks that you can do to avoid being pickpocketed when you travel now stick around to the end because I'm going to share with you a classic trick that my friend got pickpocketed on in Barcelona one trick to not get pickpocketed is to not put all of your valuables in one place you already know not to wear your wallet in your back pocket but you can stash your cash in different locations in places where pickpocketers will not look you can pack your money in between tissues and a little tissue packet you can put your money in your sports bra padding in between that fabric and the padding roll up some dollar bills and pack them in a chapstick tube or a deodorant stick you can also fold your money and put it in an eyeshadow palette we just had yard guys come and do some work and Oliver was going crazy so my hair went flat so I had to put a few more curls in it he's still on edge alright as a pilot swipe I have had to travel solo many times and one of the tricks that I picked up is to have a fake wallet and that way when the wall when the thief goes into your bag to steal your wallet they get that fake wallet when in the mean time all of your wallet essentials are in a makeup pouch if you are a solo traveler give us all your trip tips and tricks down below while you're down phone and your passport just if you need that I would ideally put my passport in there maybe a slim wallet like I have this one right here very thin you can also stash your cash under the sole of your shoe you can put them in socks that have a pocket in them like my scarf does they even make a t-shirt that has pockets in the side that are hidden as well I cannot tell if you can see these hidden pockets in the t-shirt but they are on Amazon Amazon also has several different pairs of pants for men to wear now some of them have the cargo pocket in them and my husband loved those cons we got a couple of his pair at Costco but I did not know that they were also available on Amazon so that's an idea for you I think the pocket is low enough and it's not it doesn't poke out so I don't think a thief can get to it to slash the pocket as easily as they could like your back pocket or a backpack or something like that one of the tricks that my husband uses when we are in a foreign country or a hide pickpocketed area is that he puts our passports in the front pocket and so if we're fixing to go through a crowded subway station area or down Las Ramblas Street for example in Barcelona he will just keep that hand in the front pocket over our passports I do have one video about traveling to Europe and what men can wear just outfit choices that have worked for us I'll be sure to link that in the description box below for you and I'll put it in the I cards up here when we were in Brussels I felt like we were going to get pickpocketed walking through the train station to the airport it's like an underground walk area that's very populated with stores and stuff but people were watching us like crazy I wanted to wear my backpack over the front of my body I was also carrying our suitcase because we were getting on the airplane but I didn't because I thought it looked weird you've got to get past that social fear of what are people gonna think about me if I wear my backpack like this I did pick up a backpack like this when we got back but I honestly would use it as a purse the reason I like it it's an RFID and you cannot enter this backpack when I am wearing it on my back the only way you can get to it it's through this little pocket on the back so that's gonna be against my back at all times okay one of the reasons why I say this would only be used as a purse if I was at a high pickpocketed area is because there does not seem to be a lot of room on the inside and I can only enter this high even though I have space up here it's just I don't think it could fit all of my airplane and travel essentials in it that I made but it does have two little pockets if that's something you're interested in this is the size large so they do have smaller sizes in different colors one trick is to pack a carabiner hook if you're eating at an outdoor restaurant and that way you can hook the straps of your purse together on the back of your chair or the side of your chair or even the leg of your chair if the leg of this hair is small enough but I also just think it would be easier to just carry a small cross body bag or a sling backpack that they make that you can wear on the front of your body and just eat at the restaurant with that bag right there another travel tip is to avoid commotion pickpocketers like to distract with shock-and-awe loud noises that happened to my friend Roxanne on los árboles Street in Barcelona a few years ago they were sitting at an outdoor restaurant talking to this nice man at the table next to them for about 15 minutes and all of a sudden there was a crash of pans on that end of the street and everybody looks and then they kept talking to the man and he left and then that's when she realized her bag was gone and she had it on her leg and like you know how some people say to avoid pickpocketing you put your purse strap over your leg and under the chair well they had just cut the strap and stolen it she thinks when they were making this loud commotion over here and they also believe that this man at the table next door to them that was talking nicely to them easily relax he was talking to them so that the pickpocketers could case them and look at how they were going to approach both of them after the commotion I think I said this in another video but thanks you do not wear bling jewelry or logo College logos on your sweatshirt that says I'm a tourist I don't belong here so I'm gonna be traveling with a lot of money so just be aware of your surroundings and what you're wearing also be aware of a group of people taking a survey from you the person who is asking you the questions is doing the distracting while somebody else in the group is picking your pocket you've all seen this little waist belt that holds passports and cash and cards but you do not have to wear it under your pants I saw a lady a few weeks ago who wore a tank top and then a shirt under over it and she had just put it on her belly like strapped it that high up so it was easier for her to get to and it's still on your person like a crossbody bag would be I mentioned this wallet before but this wallet is also an RFID wallet but I don't find that I feel very safe using it because you open it up to get your cards I just feel like you're opening yourself up to being pickpocketed remember that credit card information can be stolen electronically only if you have the certain kind of card that can be swiped over a machine to pay and then also when you have your passport the only way your identity can be stolen which it can be stolen from your passport is if your passport is open and if the technology is within six inches I have a video about non travel safety tips that talks about that and some really really great tips especially if you're traveling overseas I just bought one of these bra strap card holders and this is four cards that you would not be using while you were out shopping but it goes under your bra strap or this way under your bra strap and then it just snaps right in place it's like a satiny material like one of those pillowcases that they used to use in the classic old movies I do like this travel on crossbody a because it has so much space in it I can pack my reading glasses and my credit and several things to it but you can also take off this really long strap that is adjustable and you can use these little parts right here to go around your regular belt so it's a waist belt or a fanny pack I also bought a fanny pack and it has like six pockets in all it is leather and I do think that fanny packs are to covert for pickpocketers to steal from you because all they have to do is slash or just unhook your belt bag let me know in the iCard if you have gotten on the fanny pack trend
