what's going on guys it's Mike for some racing 604 and in today's video I'm going to be talking to you about a settle course of graphics and specifically how to make them a lot better it's something you guys asked for I pulled you and about 90% of you wanted me to make this video so let's go ahead and get into it so just a couple of quick housekeeping notes before we get into it guys firstly please take a backup of assetto corsa before you start this we're not gonna be doing anything ultimately destructive you can always reset it through Steam but if you get to some place where you don't like the graphics any longer and you have to sort of revert back it's a good idea to have a backup just in case second thing is everything I'm gonna describe here is free and most of these programs that I'm going to introduce you to or walk you through are actually passion projects of people who work very hard to make our favorites seem a little bit better so if you have a few bucks to donate that would be great but again everything is free but if we all kicked in a few bucks it would help them get enough coffee or beer to get us to the next major update and make AC even better and the third thing is that this isn't going to be a masterclass I'm not going to teach you the exact fine details of making a set of course I look perfect I'm not that guy don't have a great photographer too graphic I and with that in mind let's go ahead and get into the video [Music] so the first thing to talk about guys is Content Manager Content Manager is a user interface for assetto corsa if you're booting into assetto corsa via Steam directly you're going to be going to their standard user interface and Content Manager actually opens the door and allows you a lot more functionality for the game and I mean a lot more it's huge and it's also going to be sort of the channel by which we install most of the programs I'm going to talk about in this video so very important that you start with Content Manager I mentioned off the top that everything is free but you will get some extra features for content manager if you're able to donate so the website and all these links are in the description below by the way but the website is AC stuff are you slash app and that's going to get you to the content manager and you can just download directly and if you want an app key you can go ahead and donate from that page as well but like I said and at its core it's it's just the user interface just a new user interface for assetto corsa but a huge amount of functionality is improved via Content Manager versus the standard UI you can still drive with it set up races set up hot laps whatever but in the settings tab in particular which is pertinent to this video we have video customization options that are huge and we can change a bunch of parameters keep track of our frames per second and overall just give us a lot more options graphically so Content Manager is the first one you're going to want to focus on so go ahead and download that and then we'll move on to the second function the second enhancement to talk about is the custom shaders patch it's actually poorly named thing it started out just as shaders in a way of making assetto corsa look graphically a little bit better but this one is actually a huge huge suite of enhancements for assetto corsa everything from smoke to grass to the way the light propagates through your through the game and let's see if you saw my seven 20s spider video you might have seen the roof retracting and the GPS functional those are all the results of the work of custom shaders patches just a huge enhancement and it can be downloaded directly from AC stuff are you and you can see a bunch of different versions here or you can go into content manager once again and there is actually a custom shaders patch tab under the settings and you can choose to opt into whatever version you like including the latest stable version or untested versions most mods now will have some sort of functionality that's tied directly to the abilities of the custom shaders patch so this is a very very important one to have and what it does again is just enhances the function of assetto corsa now you're going to encounter something with this a lot of it says untested or buggy and you're gonna say well you know which one should I run and most mods do recommend that you run the latest version but if that's a buggy one then you might want to opt for a different one and through Content Manager you can just manually select the version you want to run and it will install that version you can also keep track via the website of the changes and it will tell you directly on the website what the latest recommended version is as well as the most recent version which with the most recent functions so custom shaders patch I can't stress this one enough this is a huge one it's just going to open the doors of what assetto corsa can do next up we jump over to race department to look at Saul Saul is a weather sweet for assetto corsa that enhances the weather and time of day options and with the base of settle core so you do have a few options in terms of time of day but it's actually quite limited but Saul really takes those limitations you know away for you completely and you get you know 24-hour day/night cycles and dynamic weather and a whole bunch of other stuff it works hand in hand with the custom shaders patch and really gives you a great experience in terms of realism really enhances the realism a lot of the shots you see from assetto corsa either pictures or videos where it looks lifelike a lot of that is to do with the time of day and controlling the the weather and that is thanks to Saul so definitely a must-have and there's also a great set of post processing filters I'm going to talk about talk more about post processing filters very soon but the salt host processing filter is processing whatever you want to say are very very good and those come as well in a free download currently in version 1.4.2 as of the time of this recording and has a lot of great functionality something that's important when you're installing Saul please follow the installation guide it's linked directly from Reis department and it firstly asks you to install at least version zero point one point three six of the custom shaders patch which we have previously talked about and once you have that installed it will walk you through exactly what you need to do to get Saul up and running smoothly and I highly recommend you take the five to ten minutes to follow along in the manual and make sure that Saul gets installed properly it's not a daunting thing it has clear screenshots of what to do from within content manager and you'll be up and running in like I said probably about five to ten minutes and it's it's going to just blow your mind about how how much customization options you have in terms of setting up your race or your hot lapping session now with time of day and web options so as we start into enhancement number four here guys I want to say that if you have content manager you have custom shaders patch and you have Sall your you've got all the tools you need to make a set of course that look absolutely beautiful it already if you've done the installation properly it looks a million times better than a set of course that did stock and you can even take it to that next level get it to that photo realistic level if you choose to go that path but there are two more enhancements I did want to talk about that are just sort of the icing on the cake and can help you make things pop just a little bit a little bit more and we'll start with rish Adri shade em II is the website and it describes itself as a generic post-processing injector and goes on to talk about ambient occlusion depth of field effects and color correction color correction for me is the big one every game sort of has a a tone to it and I find that when I installed reciate if you got a good preset and I'll talk about that in a second you can really make the colors in a set of course a really vibrant and really pop so riche a DME will bring you to this to this page you'll get the download the current version that I am running let's see here is a four point five point four you'll be asked to run an executable file and it's going to ask to ask you to choose your game what you want to look for is ACS execute and use selected application choose direct3d 10 11 12 and then because I've already installed it it will ask you to install the first time I'm going to choose update and then there's a bunch of shaders you can choose the less you have selected the better you will be you can choose you can mess around with this you can choose different ones see how the game looks but what I really recommend is disabling them and using one that I'll talk about in a second but you can go ahead and click OK and then it was successfully installed you can do this for your other titles as well but of course we're just poking focusing on assetto corsa here so I hinted before that there were presets for riche aid and this is the best one I found so far it's called in mersive I n/m er s I ve and you can find it on race Dept for free as well this is an actual in-game shot it looks like real life it's incredible and the guys or guy behind immersive have done a really great job there's excellent installation instructions and basically what you're going to do when you install reciate is you're gonna tell it which preset to look at and if you tell it to look at the immersive filter in my opinion it's it's brilliant and it just makes a set of course so really really pop so you can just again there's detailed instructions and I don't want to get too into the weeds here with a specific preset but the immersive instructions are excellent and should be able to point your reciate in the right direction to get a set of course of looking fantastic and there are performance options as well if you are experiencing an FPS dip but immersive is my recommendation for a preciate per excuse me for a preset for riche aid so the last thing we're going to talk about here is post processing filters post processing filters are very very much up to the user it's going to give sort of a tone or or a look to your assetto corsa and it's very very much up to you what you like right now I'm using the immersive natural filter that could very well change tomorrow or next week there's a whole bunch of really great post processing filters I've linked to some of them in the description of the video let's see immersive is excellent a 3 PP also excellent the standards all post prospect processing filters are excellent there's also some warmed ones that you can find on race department those are excellent there's so many really great ones again it comes down to personal preference how you like it to look and that is it for post-processing but basically you can download them from race department and follow the installation instructions and then from your set of course a Content Manager you can just choose them under settings and assetto corsa video so so many good ones my recommendation well not even my recommendation my personal preference is the immersive right now but again that could very well change depending on you and how you like your assetto corsa to look so to conclude things here guys you now have the tools you need to make a settle core so really look great if you follow the instructions for installation of anything i've described so far it should already be looking fantastic but you also have the tools especially within Content Manager to sort of tweak things make them work for you really make it pop but at the same time if you focus too much on making it look photorealistic you will probably sacrifice performance below a threshold that's playable so if you have to back things out this is my settings that I use for replay footage for making videos but you can also create presets for your graphics within Content Manager Racing and recording is my next one and I turn smoke down reflections are really low mirror resolution is really low and that gives me that extra bit of performance I need to get it above my sort-of 60fps threshold that I like to actually play at so you can mess around with that again it's gonna be a compromise of looks and performance but you now have all the tools you need hopefully to really make things pop so hoping that another youtuber and I think he knows who he is will do sort of a masterclass because I think his videos are absolutely gorgeous and I'm hoping I can sort of persuade him to do an expert's class on making a set of course that really look great but hopefully guys this has been of some use for you hopefully you're using the tools that I've shown you and you can make a settle core so look fantastic thank you guys so much for watching thank you for all those who voted in the poll it's great to know what you guys are looking for in terms of a video and yeah we'll talk to you next time [Music] you
