hey everyone so we did it a hundred thousand on youtube as of this week so first off i have to start out by saying i'm so super honored it honestly means the world to me my mission from the start has always been to create videos to help those wanting to learn web development that didn't perhaps have them used to do so so perhaps you know financially or they just went vibing with their teacher's teaching styles and preferred a more visual approach just like me so i put out and asked me anything community posts and so so many of you replied and i really wanted to answer all of them but i think we might be here for a really long time so i've grouped them all up and i'm going to answer the question that seemed to get asked the most frequently as you know i was trying to bridge the communication gap between myself and you guys and girls so if you don't get your question answered please please do ask me when i do my next chat on premiere i do them once a week at minimum usually sundays and wednesdays sometimes both so come come and chat and ask me anything you would like them too but for now let's get to it ask me anyway the first one we're gonna do here is from dark wolf dark wolf and we have actually been friends on youtube for a while now so let's see what he has to say do you speak polish and can i ask you to say something now for those of you who don't speak english at all i did put the subtitles there so yeah have a have a read of that okay so yes i am 100 from poland like literally 99.9 according to 23andme but my parents moved to the uae when i was super small like super early i'm talking about one year old and i lived there until my late teens we then moved to thailand and had a house there in phuket and when i was older i went to university in the uk and lived in singapore for a while too i actually had my very first real job there in the financial markets as a derivatives broker so yes very different to software development and i lived in a few places but mainly around where keppel bay is and then river valley road too do you want to see some fishes okay i'll i'll show you i'll show you some pictures the next question we have is from asim annette daenerys of the house targaryen festival name the unborn queen of the angles the rhino the first man queen of mourinho khaleesi of the great crusty protection of the round and region of the seven kingdoms breaker of chains and mother of dragons next is a question from adam adam no i did not do a computer science degree i taught myself a little bit of web dev while working on the trading floors to do the branding for my side hustle which is an e-commerce platform and i just i just felt in love okay i quit my job in finance sold out of my side hustle and use the money to join a coding bootcamp in which i basically went back to school for three months after that i started at a large company with great mentors in the uk not long after that whilst i was fortunate enough to be able to afford a coding bootcamp i know many people here aren't which is honestly the motivation for why i really started this channel in the first place next question we have is from sergey he says hello anya how do you approach learning as a self-taught developer i'm always questioning if i am learning well or if i should do it in a more efficient way so in general terms how do you do it that is a great question sergey i think at the beginning the mistake a lot of people make is to think that you need to memorize all the methods and all the rules that you are being taught or have you know like read somewhere the correct method for me for learning is not to worry about any of this but to go through the material as uh rule number one and then there's rule number two think of a project that you want to build think of one that you might think will use everything you have just learned and rule number one write it down so write down the ideas so you commit yourself to it you're gonna build it and don't swap out the idea and just go for it try to build exactly what you wrote down it doesn't matter if you don't get it because what you're practicing here is your problem solving skills and that is the transferable skill that you want to take with you to learn when it comes to learning the next technology and the next and the next next up we have a question from jashan jashan asks hey anya i would like to ask that i know many languages but when i try to work on a project i'm not able to complete it so how can i overcome it and how to build logic in programming great question i think the skill of googling correctly comes to mind when reading this you might hear that a lot people are people in development saying that googling is a skill and that is because knowing what to search for when problem solving can be tricky for example if a toggle button doesn't work you shouldn't really google toggle button doesn't work you need to think right what doesn't work here well i'm listening out for a click on a button so perhaps it's something to do with an event listener not being written correctly and google ad event listener syntax of course that is a very basic example but hopefully you get my point next question is from track charm what courses do you recommend on udemy for people who are beginner intermediate and javascript well hello i have a 12 hour boot camp on my channel for free ah no but seriously uh of course you had to go check that out uh in terms of udemy though well in all seriousness i think there is a preconception of if you pay for it it's better but trust me there are so many content creators on youtube giving up the same level if not better on their channels what i would pay for however is support if you get it so before buying check if your udemy course offers that if you want a course actually where i know there is a community and instructors that can help you on hand i would suggest checking out scrimba but that is my personal opinion i'm sure there's so many great udemy courses out there too next is shane johnson did you ever feel burnt out working for others uh oh my gosh uh yes i feel in tech people generally think you can like spin up really complicated apps overnight at my old job before i actually came a content creator we had a scrum master and a product owner who sort of managed our time for us and managed company expectations too so that we didn't feel stressed as developers they were sort of like barrier if if you will uh however sometimes when i do work freelance i still need to practice the ob for seeing how long something will take me to build i do tend to be quite optimistic think it won't be very long so whatever you think and whatever how long it will take you to build something just add 30 percent on top of that before going back to your client next question we have is from muhammad do you learn new technologies on languages by watching videos or by reading books okay well i have two answers for you here the first is uh i definitely used youtube for most my things like pretty much entirely use youtube now and that's not just for new technologies i like mean everything most companies actually now even have their youtube account so if you are trying to learn their software's try find their channels too it may not have a lot of subscribers but at least then you know you are learning directly from the source you know and of course reading the docs is always number one it's always super important it's just my preferred way of working as i mentioned and there are literally thousands of thousands of resources out there to choose from i do actually also have a great book recommendation and that is grocking algorithm it is my fave and it explains literally all the hardest concept with little images and meerkats and it's just super comprehensive i think they're meerkats it looks like this okay it's really good and i really recommend it next question is from isaac are you real because the way you teach is outstanding ah sucks thanks isaac but yes i am real aside from coding what else are your hobbies uh coding but i also like art and the beach is the beach as a hobby and of course traveling what were your favorite subjects in school like mine is maths and physics thank you for reading this comment well just like you uh math and physicals are up there i did four a levels and they were math physics then also design technology and art i got three a's and one be in physics unfortunately but you know i still love the subject i'm not gonna i'm not gonna cry about it now next question is from george george is wondering if i work from home well yes i do i have actually made myself this lovely studio but what i would really like to do is travel the world and become a digital nomad record recording videos from all over the world it would mean that i would need a suitcase for all this stuff but like worth it no what do you think uh videos from columbia australia above bedos you name it next question okay this is a great question so i did have a job as a software developer full-time but i actually quit to focus on this channel i did it because i like creating content to help other people and i also like to get to pick whatever projects i wish to build which is half the fun of developing right i feel that i'm also able to use other technologies that i would perhaps not have been exposed to in my everyday career which for me was really rewarding at the moment my youtube revenue isn't crazy high but sometimes i work with sponsors which is when you see these sponsor tags show up or say this is sponsored to be transparent or partner up with brands i respect for affiliate links my main goal in working with companies to make sure that i would 100 endorse them and not recommend something that wasn't very good so i actually turn away quite a lot of companies which i guess is something you guys and girls don't really see because a strong tech community is definitely something that i value and i want to build and i really cherish okay and that's it thanks so much for asking me these questions and as i mentioned if i didn't answer your question please do join me on a chat on the next premiere and i'll definitely answer them then so i'll see you there and thanks again you're all wonderful and i appreciate you and i love you see ya
