Ashes of the Red Heifer | Episode 889

[Music] welcome to manna-fest hosted by international evangelist teacher and author perry stone enjoy unique insight into prophetic and practical truth it's time to feast on fresh manna so get ready to be blessed and encouraged and now here is your host and teacher Perry stone for the next few moments on manna-fest I'm going to take you on an incredible journey that begins in the mid-1980s all the way to the present and then toward the conclusion of the program we're going to show you something from the New Testament that relates to the area where we are right now I happen to be located in the region not far from Qumran where the Dead Sea scrolls were found but not only were the Dead Sea Scrolls found but in the 1950s in one of the caves near where I'm standing there was found what was called a copper scroll and in that copper scroll it had to be you couldn't unravel it because it was so old and they put clay between it to preserve it but they cut it up in strips and began to translate that it took several years to translate it and what it does it was called the treasure scroll or the copper treasure scroll that spoke of hiding places in the Judean wilderness where temple treasure was hidden and also not just temple treasure but other treasures as well and I became intrigued with this in the nineteen let's say about 1985 and 86 if I recall now about that same time directly behind me is two large caves now in the copper scroll it spoke of the caves of the column and one man who has now passed away who was a an archeologist began to excavate in this area but it was excavating for something in particular and before I tell you what he was excavating for and how it relates to numbers chapter 19 I remember that I was intrigued by this excavation because let me just talk to you for a moment about the rebuilding of a temple in Jerusalem and a ritual that was very important in the tabernacle of Moses and also in the Temple of Solomon and even as far back as the time of Christ and that ritual was called the burning of a red heifer now what I want to do go to numbers 19 and I want to read this and I'm going to take you back to the 80s and share some things with you and bring you up to date as we preach on the significance of the ashes of the red heifer in numbers chapter 19 this is what Moses wrote this was the word of the Lord I want you to pay careful attention to these verses because it is a parallel of the crucifixion of Jesus the Lord spake unto Moses and the Aaron saying this is an ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded saying speaking to the children of Israel that they bring their red heifer without spot whereupon is no blemish and upon which never came a yoke and of course this being a picture of Christ's crucifixion we know that he was without spot sin or blemish you shall give her unto Eleazar the priest that he may bring her forth without the camp verse 3 notice that this sacrifice was without the camp and every other sacrifice was within the camp and Jesus was crucified without the gate or without the camp in Jerusalem and slay her before his face eliazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times jesus christ and his crucifixion shed his blood seven different times seven on several different locations of his body one shall burn the red heifer and his side her skin and her flesh with her blood and with her dung shall he be burnt and the priest shall take watch this very carefully cedar wood and hyssop and scarlet and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer now these three elements the cedar wood remember Christ was crucified on a wooden cross hyssop was placed to his mouth upon the cross the hyssop was a vinegar that had like a dulling substance and he refused of course to take that because he had to have sayings there were seven sayings that Christ made from the cross and if he would have been dulled in his senses he would have never completed all the prophecies such as Psalms 22 my God my God why hast thou forsaken me and so forth and cast this you have to cast cedar wood hyssop and scarlet in the midst of the burning of the heifer the priest shall wash his clothes he shall bathe his flesh and water and afterward he shall come into the camp and the priest shall be unclean until evening and if you continue to read this what this was for and I want to explain what this was for in numbers nineteen which is a picture of the crucifixion what I'd like for you to do manifest is completed is to go to numbers chapter 19 and begin to read entire chapter and compare it to what you read in the four Gospels about the crucifixion of Christ but this was the purpose for this this was called the water of separation or the water sanctification so I want to give you from from Moses time and go forward in time and tell you how this worked the priest had to take a red heifer there could not be a black hair or white hair on this particular cow and he were to take it and he would to burn it in with a cedar wood hyssop and scarlet then they would collect the ashes and they would put those ashes in something called a cloud which was a special container the story according to Jewish sources is that the priests would take a pinecone on a string with a with us with a little stick and he would dip it in the ash and he would sprinkle it in water and then the water of course was a mikvah and if you're not familiar with a Jewish mikvah it is a cut into stone it's it's several feet deep it has stone steps that go into it and it's filled with a spring water and some it has to be natural water in other words and that's where people when they for example went into the temple back in the time of Christ they would submerge the men would submerge in the smithville as water of sanctification to purify themselves in ritual purification before going into the house of God we would call it today sanctifying themselves now according to sources there were numerous red heifers that were burnt in Israel's history and when when when the tabernacle of Moses ceased to exist and Solomon built his temple in Jerusalem solomon's temple would be destroyed and Ezra Nehemiah would come back after the Babylonian captivity and they would build rebuild actually from the ruins another temple and that temple was the one that Herod the Great expanded the Temple Mount platform on there in the city of Jerusalem pinnacle the temple all that where the hoola steps are back in the Roman time that many of our tour groups I'm in Israel by the way they've been there too the hoola steps all of that was expanded upon so in the time of Christ Herod had spent over forty some years working on that area of the temple to expand it all right now back in the time of Christ I'm going to I'm going to take you ahead of time first of all the ashes of the red heifer in numbers chapter 19 everything there is a picture of the crucifixion of Jesus because when they would take the ashes of the heifer and put them in the mikveh and cleanse and cleansed himself they would sanctify themselves ritually and it was for purification if you defile yourself for example the big thing you read about in numbers chapter 19 is being defiled by a dead carcass if you touch a dead carcass if you touch something dead then you were unclean till even and you had to cleanse yourself and dip yourself in the water that had been sanctified by the ashes of the red heifer now this was from the time of Moses all the way to the time of Christ now let me give you an example of how they did it in Jerusalem how they made the sacrifice and I talked to the temple Institute in Jerusalem several years ago to verify this the eastern gate that you see in Jerusalem now you're looking at a picture of it on the screen the actual gate from Jesus time is probably underneath this gate because there was a young student in the 1970s that fell through a hole directly in front of the eastern gate and took a picture of a gate underneath that gate and that's the gate more than likely from Jesus time now according to historians in the time of Christ what happened was they had built a three tiered ramp that came across the eastern gate all the way to the middle of the Mount of Olives now the reason they would build this ramp it was because of defilement if there was the bone of an animal but especially the bone of a dead person because many wars were fought in Jerusalem for example a hundred eighty-five thousand Syrians dropped dead in one time in Jerusalem when the angel Lord came through the camp so there's a lot of corpses there so you couldn't touch a corpse and walk on the corpse or walk on the bone you be defiled and then going to the house of God so what they did they had mikvahs on top of the Mount of Olives and they would sprinkle sometimes these ashes of the red heifer depending on the situation circumstances whatever but you would submit their submerge I'm sorry in the nipple waters cleanse yourself and then walk across that three-tiered ramp to keep from the fouling yourself and then you would go into the temple so it's very significant to understand that now when the priests offered a red heifer and I'm gonna I'm gonna try to do this as though I was standing in Jerusalem you in your home you're the Temple Mount I am the Mount of Olives I'll get this in your mind from the Mount of Olives the priests would take the red heifer tie its legs down front legs back legs down lay it on wood and begin to burn it while you through his obscure wooden scarlet in the middle of it now as the heifer was burning before he ever burned it the priest had to cut the heifers throat take a handful of blood and take his and this is really interesting because their sources that differ in this but they say he took his right hand filled it with blood then took his left hand which was odd and would throw the blood toward the door the eastern gate let's say in Jerusalem back in the in Moses time it would have been the north of tabernacle but he would throw that blood toward the eastern gate seven times now I don't want to get into the significance of seven and how it relates to Christ's crucifixion but what I want to do is this I asked a rabbinical student Jerusalem what time I said why do you think that the blood was put in the right hand and he said well because Israel Israel is called and it is called a Nexus God's Son Israel the nation's called God's Son and the right hand is always the favor of God and the blessing of God so it was a signification of God's favor on Israel I said but wait a minute why did the priest then dip his left hand because the left the left side is not in fact let me say it this way if you're left-handed this is no insult because my brother and my daddy were left-handed and but that's one of the greatest men of God I've ever met but traditionally speaking Jesus when he separates he separates the sheep on the right the goats on the left so this there's this left right hand thing going on in the Bible so I said why the left hand he says we don't know and I knew why I know watch carefully the right hand represents the Jews and the left hand represents the Gentiles and so when the priest would sacrifice this red heifer and put blood in his right hand and take his left hand and dip it seven times I believe it's an indication the Gentiles are going to have access to the presence of God lord I wish I had a live audience right here preaching this thing because I think they'd be whooping and shouting I hope somebody home is getting a little bit of revelation I've got to send my team over here shouting you can't see them on camera they're going crazy they're just cutting up actually but anyway they're getting a revelation of what we're talking about today because some of them have not heard it now I want to go back and talk about the cave where I'm at and what I want to show you is I want to show you this particular cave and I want to take you back to the 1980s in the 1980s I heard a message from a man and I don't like to name people on TV but he was over an institute called the Institute of judeo-christian research and he was teaching on the copper scroll and he was talking in the copper scroll about how that hidden treasure was there and he believed that the last red heifer that was offered at the temple that the kalau loved those ashes was buried here now as I begin to research this and I want you to some of you that have known me from the 80s are going to laugh when I say this on television but this is a truth he began to teach that in order for the Jews to rebuild a temple in Jerusalem it would be necessary for there to be a pure red heifer that would be burnt or find the ashes of the last red heifer and then the reason is that all of the furniture had to be sprinkled with this set water sanctification so I'm listening to this in about 1985 I believe it was I'm doing research and I'm realizing the guy's right that technically speaking if there's going to be a temple rebuilt in Jerusalem and there will be and I know some religions don't want to hear this but in second Thessalonians 2 Matthew chapter 24 and Revelation chapter 11 there is a facility where Jewish people will worship in the future because Elijah the Prophet will be one of the two witnesses in the book of Revelation chapter 11 that will come to Jerusalem and he'll have the power to call fire down from heaven nobody can mess with him and there'll be 144,000 very devout Jewish men who will follow him in his ministry for forty-two months the first part of the tribulation and there is a a structure an altar or something in Daniel 9:27 because the sacrifices ceased and it would take without me going into detail three and a half years for there to be a temple not to build it but certain prayers and this is a professor from the Hebrew University that has studied the temple he said it would take 42 months so Elijah the Prophet comes the first part of the tribulation ministers for 42 months then at the temple dedication in Jerusalem the Antichrist comes in with his armies kills the two witnesses and takes over Jerusalem now that's our really sidetracked off my subject to share that with you but it's very important to understand that let's go back to the 1980s so I begin to research this and so I began to teach in the 80s there will come a time when a temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem based on three New Testament Scriptures the second thing I taught was in order for Jewish people to go through the rituals it's required you have to have a red heifer now I'm going to say something here and I don't want to be offensive toward my brethren who heard me preach this in the 80s but my own denomination leaders and pastors heard me preach on the ashes of the red heifer and I got mocked ostracize criticized and everything else you can imagine one of my dearest friends who I will not name said Oh Oh God Perry's going off on the deep end he's preaching this weird stuff on Judaism he said that's a lot of pastors and of course those pastors then look at me as a young man and say Perry you body we've got to be careful preaching the stuff now here's what happened in 1988 in Time magazine they had an article on the temple the rebuilding of the temple and quoted that they required a red heifer in order for them to go through the process well my friend who persecuted me the must got on the bus here in Israel and said I was wrong I should have never said that period of the research and I said now you go tell all those 500 preachers that you said I was crazy go be sure they know what you said so he didn't get to all the preachers that are now retired that that heard the period was crazy preaching this I'll just clarify that with horns craziest people thought we were because Time magazine confirmed basically what I had been teaching they didn't do it because of my article they actually came to Jerusalem and did an interview on what was taking place now since that time if you have kept up with prophecy there are two organizations here especially one in particular in the city of Jerusalem in Israel that are involved in trying to breed a full red heifer in for three and a half years and then offer that red heifer to have the ashes now let me stop and drive a point up here that that aspect of a rebuilt temple and the ashes of a red heifer are related to Judaism devout Jews or what would say some Orthodox Jews okay now when it comes to Christianity when it comes to our faith in Christ Jesus is a picture of that sacrifice and let me explain first of all the red heifer was a female sacrifice and practically every sacrifice in the Torah that Moses was told to offer was a male offering a goat a ram a lamb a bull or an ox whatever the case may be it was a male offering this was female why a female offering now this is my opinion based on this in the New Testament Christ would purchase his bride his bride are those universally who have accepted him in the redemptive covenant now the word church is ekklesia and one of my Greek scholar friends says it's more of a feminine word so in light of the church being the ekklesia and the church being the Bride of Christ Christ died to purchase the bride now the bride and the groom if you know anything about it see God had got it in this thing with a groom marrying a groom and a bride marrying a bride God is in this thing of a groom marrying a bride meaning a man marries a woman so Christ while we are on earth now listen carefully while we are on earth we are the body of Christ but when we are caught up to meet the Lord we become the Bride of Christ someone says well the Bible said that the New Jerusalem is the bride the Lambs wife but it's not the city itself it's the people living inside the city because to be quite honest with you the New Jerusalem is the wedding gift that God provides for his bride who is the church and you know there's some people trying to say that's not true but Paul wrote that he has espoused us to one he's espoused us to one to be faithful to that one to be a chaste virgin to that one and so that's the reason why we talk about this all right bottom line of what I want to say is this that for Christianity it's not necessary that we find the ashes of a red heifer it's not necessary that a red heifer be burnt because we understand that Jesus Christ when he came went to the cross Jesus Christ was crucified without the gate all this is parallel with numbers 19 that I just read to you they put hyssop - Jesus mouth crucified as I said on a wooden cross and then the Bible said scarlet was even thrown in the midst of the burning of the hip or ever and there was a scarlet robe placed on Christ and so when you take the ashes and you put them in a clean place and there needed to be sanctification to purify someone as they're coming into God's presence you took the water and the ashes of the heifer and you mixed them together and it enabled someone to enter into the presence of God or to cleanse themselves ritually now we are no longer cleansed by taking a ritual bath I know there may be some you know in devout Jews that would accept that but we are cleansing today comes by the blood of Christ the Bible said beloved write to you that you sin not but if you sin we have an advocate with the father and so it is the blood of Jesus Christ today that asset that saves you and that redeems you and I want to take a moment and just talk to the worldwide audience of manifest and say this to you that it is important that you understand it's not just about believing in God all these world religions believe either in God's or a God of some kind is Lomb Christianity and Judaism are the three monotheistic religions in the world meaning we believe in one God now for the Muslims who believe that for example that you Christians believe in three gods we do not we believe in one God who manifest himself as three persons he manifest himself as God the Father he manifests himself as Jesus Christ he manifest himself as the Holy Spirit and I don't want to get into the tri-unity of God because that would be taking entire two or three manifest programs to try to at least explain but the point is simply this you tell me how you get to heaven you tell me how you guarantee you get to heaven and what is sad is most religions do not have a guarantee that they actually make it there some say well if I'm a good person if I do good works if I give charity if I pray so many times a day no that's you working on your own righteousness the Bible says our righteousness is as filthy rags and what does that mean that means me doing all the good works I want to do cannot guarantee righteousness righteousness according to the New Testament comes through a sinner asking Christ into their heart asking Jesus to save them and wash them in his precious blood now wherever you're watching manifest right now I want you to pray a prayer with me right now say this out loud this is important say Father in Heaven in Jesus name I come to you asking you to forgive me of my sins erase my iniquities and wash me in the blood of Jesus Christ say this make me a new creature and a new creation say this out loud write my name in the Lamb's Book of Life and help me to follow the Word of God all the days of my life now I want you to say this Jesus I accept you as my savior right now amen amen you said well that was real simple well you know what the thief on the cross looked at Jesus and said remember me and Jesus said you know what I'll remember you and I come into the kingdom remember this God never looks on your outward appearance he never looks at the color of your skin he never looks at how you were raised he looks at the heart and you know people can't do that they think they know your heart people don't know your heart God knows your heart so from here I want to encourage you to follow the Lord the types of shadows coming back to rule and reign Satan is going to be bound this does not end bad for you and I if we're believers if we follow Jesus Christ it does not in bad for us and so we have a big audience in Lord and Savior alcoholics get delivered drug addicts get delivered many times instantly people with with all sorts of physical infirmities are testifying that I prayed to Jesus and a lot of my Muslim people but we they're not and I prayed to Jesus and something happened it was supernatural so I want to encourage you that wherever you're watching me to not just consider Christianity Jesus did not come to start another religion Jesus came to bring people in a relationship with God and I want to make that very clear religion came out of it yes Christianity is a religious faith that's not why he
