ourselves our way of life and our motives in life we are urged to repent and return to god with humble hearts for christ the sinless one has died so that we may become the goodness of god the anxious which are distributed today is a sign to remind us that we are nothing and we are dependent on god for all our needs for we are thus and to us we will return when we die the celebrant for this we want to do some spring cleaning in our life and enjoy new life as a result you know every time you want to cleanse our house every time when the celebration is also a time for us today before we begin with the easter celebration we want to look back our life where we are in front of god therefore we have come here today to acknowledge that we are sinners we want to clean up our life during land we want to leave sins behind and grow closer to the lord we want a change of our hearts this land the word of the lord to the prophet joel in the first reading are words that have a special significance for us today as we begin the seasons of land and a word that we can easily see the lord speaking to us personally len is not just a period of fulfilling an obligation imposed on us by the church during the spirit of the year rather it's marked the beginning of an important part of our salvific history is it truly a season of reliving or re-enacting the entire paschal mystery of christ so during the last year we have become used to see unchanging religious celebration disrupted by the corner various you know the pandemic masses celebrated virtually funerally limited to family social distancing and mars in church no sharing of the cup no peace greeting by shaken hands for example ash wednesday is also affected the celebrant is instructed not to use ants to make sign of the cross on their foreheads but to sprinkle it on our head although that the small change the gesture has quite a different feel making the sign of the cross on the forehead was like pinning a bench on us my friends it identified as a catholic gave as an identity as a follower of jesus abound as to the community when we are children we were encouraged to leave it on our foreheads and not to be ashamed of our faith and we notice a doubt also had ends on their forehead as we travel by bus to school to work no some people say well your cross is too big you must have a big sin that is last time no so on as wednesday we stroll together to this land as we might into the arm training will make us a spiritual fear to join jesus on his part to death and rising so having a sprinkle on your head feel quite different no one notice the ages except ourself we may feel the griefiness on our hair and be uncomfortable within it for most of us paying attention to our hair is a sign of ourselves respect but today as we begin the liturgical seasons of land let us take a moment to reflect on what land means to us jesus mentioned three important practices that we rightly need to practice in this time of land however jesus also warns against giving alms praying and fasting to draw attention to ourselves and pope francis preached the following hypocrisy is the field that jesus tell us in today's gospel that we have to remove indeed my friends the lord tell us not only to carry out our works of charity to pray and to fuss but also to do this with pretends so my dear friends let us have the desire during this land to have the fruitful lands by placing god as the priority in our life and making him the motivation behind our actions and words as we reflect during this season of land let us ask ourselves how can i strive to please god alone i begin to bless the ashes dear friends in christ let all stand let us ask our father to bless these ancients which we will use as the mark of our meeting with confirmation candidates year 2022 with catechist joseph juni will be held at saint anne's church on sunday 6 march 20 22 at 1 pm lastly recollection for prayer leaders and extraordinary communion ministers will be held at saint anne's church on saturday 5th march 2022 at 8 30 a.m all prayer leaders and extraordinary communion ministers are encouraged to attend the morning mass that's
