Ark Survival Ascended E1 - A New Journey Begins!

well hello there well make sure we're actually streaming maybe well hello there you wonderful humans and welcome back to Ark survival ascended it's finally here we we played until like 4:30 last night um and that was kind of just like our first playthrough like kind of just getting people to be able to see the game test it out a little bit but today we are officially starting our Ark survival ascended playthrough on our community server so this is a server that I'm hosting for everybody that is a member of the community uh so if you are a member you will be able to play along the servers just when live all the info is in the Discord and we are uh starting completely fresh here so this is going to be our character it's just tag I could rename myself something crazy but we're not going to do that um yeah this is going to be the server that we play our whole playthrough on so this is part one I did live stream last night for a couple of hours had a lot of fun I've done some um kind of fine-tuning of the optimization for the game it's running a lot better right now um I'll probably make a video on sharing exactly what I've done but let's go ahead and hop right in I think we're going to start on South Zone one actually you know what we've been we started on South Zone one last night Let's do let's do South Zone 2 let's give it a shot see what happens uh frisket biscuit thank you for the 38 months thank you so much it's just so nostalgic every time loading back into Ark for the first time again I just love it so much and I got to say the game is it's looking really pretty I know a lot of people have been having some optimization issues um I'll share it right now there's a way to turn on vsync too which which I turned on it made it look a lot better it's not as choppy as it was um but frisky biscuit thank you again I don't know if I'm going to catch on fire i' I'm you know know I've got a couple thousand hours in Arc I think I can manage to not catch myself on fire months thank you so much got to be careful not to kill ourselves apparently you can kill yourselves just by hitting a Dodo now which is weird speak of the devil it's like I I'm going get you to slap me boy Matt I'm doing well considering I got 3 hours of sleep I'm doing all right how are we going to handle how many dinos a tribe is allowed to have because they're not being Dino storage of any kind yall just have to be responsible I think is the is what we're going to go for everybody's just going to have to be responsible oh God I'm Too Tall I made the grass is so tall in the game now I remade my character but taller usually I make a short character but I couldn't see over the grass when going through the woods in first person and barely even in second person second person third person so I REM make my character taller you passed out watching me yeah we were we were up late and then um yeah I got I got about 3 and a half maybe 4 hours of sleep so uh I'm struggling right now beex how are you doing both of you to assume will be responsible that's fair that's fair now he's a giant I made the character as tall as I could and I still can't get over most of the grass the complete opposite of the typical character that I would make in Arc [Music] a lucky Chucky I wish you the best but is he thick enough I should have made the Donk thicker somehow maybe some thicker thighs give him some thunder thighs we'll go with it for now though that Bon don't you be looking at my bedon all right we should probably be a little bit more careful if memory serves this area the okay somebody messed up placing grass on that this area of the island typically has Raptors on it so we're going to try and find our first base today probably tame our first dinos um we did a vote yesterday on what our first mutations were going to be and that was Raptors I believe is what won so that is what we're going to I don't know if we're going to tame Raptors today we'll try we'll see what happens just Dida thank you for the 36 months thick as a mammoth I don't know about all that but I do want to find our home I have an idea already from the trailer where I want to live um I'm going to see if it's possible we're going to kind of make our way over there I haven't done a ton of exploration yet am I still functioning with so little sleep just used to it just used to it Red into the roots like Ark is how I started my channel way back in the day spent years playing Just Ark you set a on it that thigh gap though oh my God it's Kim Kardashian all right let's see if we can make some some stuff here we'll boost our health uh let's let's craft some stff um so I did make one quality of life Improvement for this server is you just automatically learn the ingrams each time you level which um you can learn everything anyways it's going to save me time when I'm uh when I'm streaming to just be able to not have to learn all the ingrams as we go and not waste time doing that since Arc baby so excited for this oh yeah stamp in here since the olden times game's running smooth yeah I've got it locked to a solido 60 FPS I'll share my so I've turned vsync on if you that's going to help with the screen tearing and stuff you can turn that on in the Nvidia settings um by just selecting the game um but what I did is you got to make sure you have dlss on I don't have frame generation on at the moment at the moment set the super resolution to Performance um obviously if you don't have a 3090 you're not going to be playing at 4K I wouldn't recommend it um but I have advanced Graphics set to High um view distance textures everything basically is set to Epic except for postprocessing General Shadows are set to medium there's literally no change but you do get a noticeable difference in fps um and I have light Bloom off which also affects your FPS and quite frankly the game looks better with it off so um but just with that have a solid 60 FPS don't really ever dip below it I don't think and uh it's running pretty great is there a way to get the autolearn ingrams on single player I think so yeah it's a setting it's a setting in the game it's it's been around forever what ended up being the first thing to kill you I don't think I died last night I did not die last night I survived the whole stream it was great I've not I'm not even going to say it I I haven't experienced any crashes though I said it but so now I'm going to experience a crash so thank you for that enjoying the stream of my lunch jway thank you my Doos did die though they died by spino which which is a bit of a bummer I might turn the face cam off cuz this whole background thing is it's very very bright looks a little weird I'm not in my office right now so turn it off see how it does entire stream I meant to just do the intro with it on I forgot I did have a close encounter with a NOP rope you're right it was um it was way too close for comfort that was that was a bit of a nightmare I screamed like a little baby it came out of no I wasn't even anywhere near the swamps it tried to eat that booty like groceries I was not a fan oh oh hello our first dodo what level are a feeling it's it's probably the largest thing that's impacting the game because all of this is kind of the water is dynamic uh which is incredibly resource intensive um the fact that they implemented something like this in a in a survival game like this I'm actually pretty pretty amazed like all of these w waves they're actually happening which is very very resource in I would honestly say that the water is probably the most resource intensive thing in the game just knowing from like using these kind of Water Systems when I was messing around with designing my own game uh lurking and working to the sound of tag and Arc Christina the Goldfish how are you this is the origin story of Dexter it is is there an option to turn that feature off in game not that I'm aware of I'm sure there'll be a mod for it at some point have I gone underwater I momentarily went underwater and then ran into a alpha Megalodon and then promptly noed out of there we can go underwater right now though we can Baywatch run into the into the water yeah the underwater stuff is very very similar to Classic Ark check out the tracking in the sand he talking about with the footsteps and stuff yeah that's also pretty resource intensive you can turn that off uh you get a pretty good FPS boost if you do a the Adolescent orphan now level four you're such a such a good good boy we're going to take good care of you I promise it's the least I can do for killing your mother all right so we need to start actually crafting good things we need some Bola once we hit high enough level we've got a weapon what am I missing to repair this bad boy nothing my one button on my mouse just doesn't work did he stop following you yeah I don't know I know we're getting close to Raptor territory I think so I wanted to leave the orphan behind I guess I'm abandoning the orphan for now God look how beautiful this game is Jesus RTX 380 and I'm getting 35 FPS lock it to 30 and have fun it's pretty much what all consoles run at nowadays you won't even know the difference after playing for a little bit super excited to play when it eventually comes out for consoles I don't know why I out look at this Lush Greenery I fairly unremarkable by the island standards enorus gamia is a generally passive fish its main form of protection is swimming in a large school onar rinkus does not like I really like her voice and generally swims away from anything larger than itself at very high speeds once provoked however aninka becomes quite aggressive along with its nearby Brethren it locks onto its prey with its long saber teeth and begins draining the creatur's blood this loss of blood is not too dangerous alone but when a school of enorus attack at once the target quickly loses speed and stamina from blood loss drowning if it cannot breathe underwater like many of the smaller fish found on or around the island enor rinkus Cannot Be Tamed but it is often herded and harvested for its resources in particular certain cuts of aninka mate are considered to have superb quality and are often referred to as Prime fish used for specific high-end concoctions and taming the Island's many pous creatures uh yes the pous creatures I really like I know well now I know that the voiceover was available in Ark survival evolved but I do like it as an addition as a whole po I could gift you the game we need more people to play [Music] with and I promise I'll try to keep you alive try being the the keyword though a bummer for the bumps last night glad it's working out oh yeah yep worked out all the Kinks last night I now that I've discovered that the freaking Titan boas just kind of do their own thing and go where they please I don't know how I feel about it the RGS look good extra Majestic and stoic now they were changed like all their stuff with ads for live streams it's my FPS it's locked at a solid uh 60 at 4K have I witnessed the path tracking yet can't say that I have I'm not sure what you mean by that I might have and just don't know it we need to find orphan a new Orphan Rock how was gamma changing in ASA uh you'll see here in a second so we can we can do it the same so gamma 3 but you really don't need to use gamma uh for the most part I've been running at whoops I've been running at Gamma 2 I think it I think vanilla gam well you can actually do this too so there if you go into settings and then video you can adjust brightness and HDR don't use HDR I think that causes a lot of crashes so just don't do that um gamma correction so you can adjust it in here and see exactly where it is I think natural is 50 and I've actually been lowering the gamma but I'm going to put it back to 50 I think 50 is 2.5 you can also change the uh the color space to make it less saturated and stuff too dinos F find ways to you now rather than running into rocks and off cliffs well yeah I have seen that although they still run into rocks and stuff so there's that I want to find a nice home I know kind of what I'm looking for I just don't remember where it is oh but there's like this little Oasis over here I can make the colors aesthetic this is getting better and better plus you can get all the mods what's today's goal in the game today's goal is to find our base uh and tame our first Mount which is going to be a raptor uh Raptors are also going to be the first things that we mutate in the game so looking forward to that look at that beautiful sunset closing out the first day in Ark survival ascended and we need to eat do we always run the slow no I'm actually encumbered right now uh which means I'm carrying too much stuff which I'm going to actually put everything I have in here for [Music] now except for maybe that one metal there we go what the heck why' that tree fall down forever I might have accidentally slowed down [Music] nighttime 390 is enough to play the game you're not going to play it at 4K but but you can play it I feel like the Torches still don't make enough light your display is 4K just play it you don't have to play a game at 4K if your display 4K you know that right 1440p is like the best way to play most [Music] games don't even have a 4k monitor so 370 is probably okay yeah just play it I play most games at 1440p and then run them on Max but I have 120 HZ monitor too so I like getting the extra FPS um you'll you can probably play at 4K at like 30 FPS with everything maxed out which isn't too bad I was actually playing at 30 FPS earlier and uh honestly felt pretty good have I checked third person will I have a torch unequipped I have it actually looks better are you my friend yet wait why wait what why it ate all the food oh my God and then it damed oh no oh shoot oh man I broke the taming Effectiveness sh oh God dang [Laughter] it we need more berries that thing might not actually tame what is the light blue berry I think it's just for making dyes I haven't found any differences with the berries yet they're still edible red berries wake up oh no yeah you can you can equip torch to your side you just right click and it attaches it becomes a uh it becomes that which is I'm not going to lie not safe doesn't make any sense the Discord all of the server information is available in the Discord also ladies and gentlemen if you are looking for a private server to play on this is a PVE SLP server so the the PVP settings are strictly for breeding purposes although we will hold PVP events as well as other types of events as well um and this is the server that we're recording on as well so we'll be playing visits to to everybody probably doing some uh some pranks and all that stuff as well as is tradition in on an arc server so if you want to be able to play along make sure to join the members only Discord did the dodo wake up did you oh son of a biscuit I didn't get the narcoberries in time I think I accidentally slowed down nighttime it should have been over hold on let me check the server settings uh night time is lasting way longer than it should be I had a feeling I might have messed up something cuz we might restart the server I mean we'll wait for it but I'll check later I'll check later I'm not too worried about it right now can other people kill you technically yes but if they do they're going to be reprimanded for it all right we're going to have to try and KO this thing again without killing they're they just it's so all the other server providers had really good ways of changing all the settings and doing things easily the tro does not of today what's the best open world survival game for you Ark it's always been yeah so the higher the number the faster nighttime should go by the lower the number the slower so I lowered daytime to make it go to make it last longer and I sped up up night time but it doesn't seem to have worked I could let me see if I can uh adjust something how do you play ascended you download the game and you turn it on all right uh um going do this I don't remember how to enable cheats I'm going to try and turn into daytime cuz this night time is insane right now let's see if that works I don't think cheats are working right now interesting we'll go gamma 3 for now instead so dark over here and so Sunny there all like in real life I me you going to be putting beginner guides yeah I think I'll do that again I mean there are so many guides out working all right stay I was using them on single player earlier but they're just not working on the server it's probably a NR server problem Oh cha oh no are the frames really bad like the review show I think most people still have unfortunately this is all right let's let's get down to the nitty-gritty the the the visuals in this game game are Far and Beyond what most games go for um they're going for a very high quality visual experience and most people think that they're going to take their whatever Graphics like 30 series should be able to run it better let me let me let me start this off it's not perfectly optimized but it's also a very high fidelity game and there's not a lot of settings to reduce that Fidelity to give you a like a better fps experience uh so unfortunately yeah you're going to get lower frames than you expect um but you can mess with the settings and there are certain things that you can lower um like right now I'm playing on if you if you have ability to use dlss definitely go for performance don't go for Ultra performance or balanced performance is definitely the best done a lot of testing for it um lower postprocessing put that to High General Shadows put to medium you can even put it to low there's really like no difference but you get a very noticeable FPS change uh Global illumination also change that to High um turn off motion blur and light Bloom and you'll see a pretty decent uh increase in fps also turn on vsync in your Nvidia settings or AMD settings like specifically for the game and it'll run a lot better as well get the baby though what is this but um the game will be releasing on consoles which I'm assuming is going to run around 30 FPS so there's that a lot of people will just end up having to do that instead I suppose but there's crossplay and everything now and mods so inventory all right let's set up a storage box down here I want to build like a probably a mix of wood and stone for a base we'll we'll actually do a little bit of experimenting with the uh H you know what can we make the large storage boxes yet a LGE uh does not look like it h what level are those this is for PS5 it's not out on consoles yet but know I uh Lord knows I've had my fair share of complaints of wild card but having started building my own games recently and understanding like the development process of a video game one with completely destructible like like all of these the problem with a game like this where you have everything that can be harvested and uh destroyed a lot of these things you can't instance the same way you do things that aren't interactable so like a big open world game where you can't actually destroy things in the world is going to run a lot better than a game that you can um just the way that that instancing of stuff works so it's a lot more resource intensive so to get a game that looks better than 90% of AAA games out there and still running it doesn't run the best but most AAA games also don't run very well nowadays with like maxed out Unreal Engine stuff like most systems just aren't capable of running real engine stuff in 4k at the settings that you could yet we're still like I don't know what needed to happen was I don't even know if they can give you lower settings though that's the problem because of nanite and Lumin and all that stuff that they're implementing with the high resolution textures like I said otel go learn how to make video games and then just go do better even the 490 is struggling in 4k yeah I'm still getting 60 FPS in 4k though I'm not trying to uh you know shill for wild card or anything I have my fair fair share of complaints but having started developing my own video games it's like optimization with highquality Graphics is a freaking nightmare yeah if yall want to complain you can find somewhere else to complain if you want to just enjoy it then we can hang out otherwise just what's the [Music] point um is there there is no Auto transfer button is there all right I want to start making our base we're going to use wood foundations and stone walls with with wood kind of accents so let's see how much of the stuff we can actually make feel like I don't have nearly I have enough stone for One Foundation oh my God wait I don't even have stone unlocked yet all right let's make a large storage box there we go now we can keep everything in the same spot thankfully on herbivore Island so we really don't need any defenses or anything like that at the moment we can free up a lot of inventory space then we should probably keep our food on us are we out of wood in there already oh my God honestly I love the way it looks yeah like unfortunately I think what they've done is they've kind of future proof themselves as far as Graphics goes so this is very much on the high end of what they could have done I mean honestly it's about as High Fidelity as you can make in video games right now and in a couple years everybody's going to have graphics cards can it perfectly but for the next 2 years probably it's going to be a struggle to run but in a couple years when everybody's able to get more affordable graphics cards that perform better uh they're going to appreciate the quality I think I don't know I try to look at the positive in [Music] things want to see what happens when somebody flies by a big base well they have um instancing now for big bases so that's so there's a couple different things you have to keep in mind so the game itself it doesn't it's not very it's very resource intensive cuz I mean look we have the game has very very high quality Assets in it but uh one of the bonuses is that they have implemented a lot of things that's going to improve performance when it comes to Base building so there's instancing in the game now so in traditional Arc every single piece has to be rendered individually when you build a base so if you place a 100 foundations each of those 100 foundations has to be individually rendered in Arc survival ascended every time you attach something to a structure that becomes one piece so if you attach one wall it renders as one wall uh it it it it takes the you know the resources of one wall if you attack a thousand pieces it still is the equivalent of having to render one wall so it's kind of a give and take so we got significantly higher resource requirements to run the game but when it comes to Base building you're going to be able to build the base of your dreams without actually adding significant uh lags your game like regular Arc so I think at the end of the day it's all going to start evening out and um we'll be able to do more testing in to that later guys you also have to real yeah it's using all of the best things that you can in Unreal Engine which most games they don't do and I'm sure there'll still be more optimizations like Lumen definitely isn't implemented perfectly you really can't use nanite without it working right so um but I assume over time the optimizations will come in I don't I don't anticipate it getting much better but Nvidia will probably release updates as well for gpus which is going to help there I'll turn on stat FPS so yall can see it uh stat FPS so I'm locked at 60 right now with a 4090 at 4K with everything Max except two things that you can't even tell the difference zone I'll show my settings again I've been showing them periodically throughout this so uh running at 4K um I have advanced Graphics at high there's no difference between Ultra and high that I can tell view distance at Epic um postprocessing at high in general shadow Shadows I put down to medium you cannot tell the difference between uh epic and medium but you do get an FPS increase so I don't know what that's all about maybe there's some subtle differences that my eyes genuinely just can't tell Global illumination I set to high as well everything else is set to Epic I turned off light Bloom I have light shafts on and I turned off motion blur and if you do all of those and you have a 4090 you can get 60 FPS locked at 4K um you I don't even have frame generation turned on either uh I do have dlss on performance which I highly recommend using performance instead of balanced and uh and everything will run very very very smoothly when you change your graphics card from a 1070 to a 4070 you need to also upgrade other components the only thing that you might need to upgrade is your um your your your power supply jeez thank you my God my brain was getting fried the 40 series does have a more of a power drop so you just have to make sure you have a large enough power supply to be able to support it other than that you shouldn't need to upgrade anything uh unless you have a really bad CPU you could get a CPU bottleneck um I can't really help on that kind of information an alpha Raptor spawn to my base oh my God how many people do we have online right now we have 31 ping which is pretty good I don't know how many people we have online though all right so I'm going to build our base probably back here actually I'm not sure so I built my last time I built on herbivore Island I built my base kind of in the back but I don't want it to be engulfed in Shadow all the time maybe I'll put it towards the front this time put dlss on performance and oh my God it looks so much better yeah dlss needs to be on performance don't use balance uh balanced or anything like that we could put it up top too maybe we'll put it up here I have a 1050 and there's literally no point upgrading just the GPU I recently bought one of yours through your partnership with Apex gaming and I'm loving it oh hell yeah my first ever gaming PC so I've been having fun catching up on all the games I've missed ooh Alex hell yeah I'm glad you're enjoying it you want to know if there's new hair ooh that might be a good idea too test that out um we can start making narcotics too I feel like we got to start just murdering things on this particular Island start coing the low [Music] levels we are now level what 21 22 throw down yep exactly I got to throw down a mortar and pestal start making narcotics we don't have a lot of narcoberries I don't think let's go ahead and make the MTAR imp pestal though at the very least we are missing hi oh more hide we got to go murder things it is ooh we're about to get into permanent nighttime again too oh my God look at all the stego babies over here there's so many of them now it's a level one stego just squirting out stego babies left and right I also have my slightly upgraded Taco PC and I was able to buy games I already have on Console so I could mod them Plus finally play Planet zoo Zoey God Planet zoo is so good and no this wasn't a game migration either this was fully built up from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5 which is a new engine it's incredibly resource uh intensive when used to its maximum which they did like nanites um [Music] Lumen H what else do they have uh they put something else in too that's also Source intensive it's just it's basically the max of what you can really do in Unreal Engine at the moment and I I kind of wish they implemented two different Water Systems cuz I am I'm about 75% sure most of the resource intensive stuff is coming from the water simulation that needs to happen cuz this water needs to be rendered all the time it's not like like you typical water that's actually just like a uh it's basically like a mesh that's put down and it has a little animation to it like all of this has to be rendered all the freaking time am I starving I am I am indeed kefir how's uh how's my babies doing you keeping them alive out there also ladies and gentlemen we've got 14400 people watching and less what's the point of taming dinos uh there is PVE in the game but you can you can breed them you can get mutations stat mutations and color mutations to uh to make dinos that are pretty you can do all sorts of stuff all right we are Level something see what we can craft now craft the mortar and pestl we can craft the cook pot which we don't need I mean we need it but we don't need it right now we can do console commands let's try this cheat set set time of day 10 it worked so it seems like server commands have to be used from console command now and you need to use cheat instead of the not cheat and you can't use it in the regular UI on I don't know it's weird it's weird but I but I got it working so we're good um I won't have to do that once we figure out Endless Night um it's just just more new new server problems you know also how do I get my chat back to like normal there we go my eyes everybody's blinded is this being played on the NASA super computer no I have a oh my God leveled up for stone foundations so I need to find something that I can craft that will honestly we need more arrows o a parachute is probably not the worst idea either a painting canvas a fishing rod you love about Ark just with more graphics and some other quality of life stuff slowly clearing out our base area Pro tip if you tame a mother with babies you'll tame all of her babies as well see that's pretty that's pretty sweet I haven't tried to do that yet just make sure the family is trapped first it's a lot of work if you find a bunch of high level things with highle babies like that would super be worth [Music] it your 1080 only runs this on low settings that's why it's called minimum requirements Kayla no you shouldn't you shouldn't lose progress if your game if are you playing on the server Kayla I would recommend playing on the the member server so that way you won't lose any progress if you do crash if you're playing on single player and you have your like save automatic save settings at like 15 minutes then you can lose progress that way for sure but you won't lose progress if you're playing on the server [Music] oo wait we're level 24 now that means we have stone you can kill the mom um or you can tame the mom but since we couldn't tame it cuz we didn't have any carrots we did have mejob berries would taken it would have taken an eternity and I don't know about all of you but I don't have a full-blown eternity to do anything they will respawn it was one and a baby o I haven't had any crashes um I did spend the morning kind of optimizing my game so I don't have any like frame issues or anything like that we just take a second to kind of try and optimize things so far I mean I don't know people just going to get but hurt no matter what I say about it so I'm enjoying the game and I will continue to enjoy the game all need wood and thatch now but I'm very biased cuz Arc is one of my all-time favorite games and I like playing it on better graphics oo Brit your husband and you just joined the server hell yeah hope you all enjoy it super excited to see what everybody does in the game has been 3 hours since we started oh my God it has um maybe
