take them what and again you can see this is the polygon for the northern part of Jefferson County let's go back up to Coleman County we'll take a look at this and again we've been stressing for those of you in Garden City in Hanceville you need to be in a safe place that's the tornado warning polygon for the southern part of Coleman County this includes the far eastern and southern part of the city of Coleman the core threat is farther south down toward Hanceville and Garden City let's go to Tuscaloosa County there's a tornado warning polygon for the northern part of Tuscaloosa County and this is basically from highway 43 north and east this includes places like Windham Springs again there is no threat no threat here to the city of Tuscaloosa or the campus of the University of Alabama this tornado is basically moving out into rural northeast Tuscaloosa County we got our big 2004 when dem Springs it might affect that but we've had no reports of any damage and Brian correct me if I'm wrong but it's been very quiet on the damage front let's go to has let's go to Pickens County now we have another tornado warning in effect for parts of Pickens and actually that has gone away that's gone that goes just expire good so Pickens County no more tornado warnings Sumter County we have a tornado warning basically south of Gainesville and Epps this includes York Livingston the campus of the University of West Alabama it includes bola G or actually that the cross the Tombigbee from bola G on the subject County side it includes Bellamy and Belmont and Cuba and that is for a storm coming out of Eastern Mississippi so we are working basically three polygons right now we've got this one for Sumter we have the one for Jefferson and we also have the one for southern Kuhlman and the one for Tuscaloosa so I take that back we have one two three four four all right so here we are let's go back to the high-resolution radar and let me just show you what we have here this is the this is the potential tornado that's right here and this is not a real classic wound up tight circulation this is kind of broad it's a marginal situation but again it doesn't matter if it's a small tornado it's one where you need to be in a good safe place and this will be cutting across highway 78 pretty soon around Graysville Adamsville forest dale and then Cardiff and Brookside and then the i-65 corridor Mount Olive and Gardendale Fulton Dale we have a Skycam at Fulton Dale Brian if we can pull that one up what's up okay let's take a look at our Skycam Network and we're just going to watch these with we're not going to be able to show you a lot at night you know this is one of the problems Brian of night storm spotting it's hard man it's it's very hard what do you recommend you to people a lot of folks are watching you're the trainer you want to spot at night how do you do it spotting at night is extremely difficult James because lightning can both luminate and confuse you because sometimes when you get backlighting to say a tornado or a wall cloud it's very visible but then all of a sudden you get a lightning strike that's behind you and it doesn't illuminate it the same way and so it's like is it there or is it not there so it can disappear I've been in a couple of situations personally where the backlighting was wonderful but as soon as the backlighting quit then you couldn't really see what was going on over in in that particular area so we are watching all of these different things and that is that we're seeing a lot of lightning as we've been seeing with this I noticed on the Jackson chat with the National Weather Service somebody was describing the lightning as insane and it certainly has been a tremendous amount of lightning that's going on let's go to the graphic system and the radar that I have here yes you can see that the the echos that we're watching primarily are the ones coming into Jefferson County the one in northern Tuscaloosa County that is coming up into Birmingham we'll zoom in on these two and both of these are showing some indications now keep in mind we don't we don't as meteorologists we don't use just reflectivity or just velocity or just correlation coefficient we try to look at all of them together and so in this case this the cell that is to the northwest of Birmingham actually has more of a hook echo kind of appearance in the reflectivity than what and and now the rotational couplet in there is actually showing up a little bit better than it was before then the next one back in line and these have been like trains on a track because now we've got a second one in northern Tuscaloosa County and it is also showing these the reflectivity a bit of a curvature a bit of a six looking to it there in the northeast corner of Coleman County pardon me Tuscaloosa County my mistake and then we come back down into the vicinity of Sumpter County and that storm also showing a bit of a James mentioned a little while ago and notch and as that that knotch sometimes indicates the inflow that's coming into the strong updraft that is rotating and could produce the tornado yeah so let's what we're going to do let's come back to me with this high-res radar and again for the Birmingham Metro this is a this is broad circulation The Weather Service has gone ahead and upgraded to a tornado warning thinking that's probably the best thing to do with this coming through a highly populated corridor it's probably not a bad idea the next major thoroughfare in line it's us 78 which is right here of course right here you've got the new interstate 22 but we advise no travel along interstate 22 between Highway 78 and the end of that interstate over here we also advise no travel along i-65 from malfunkshun Junction north to the first warrior exit until this thing passes and less stress who's in and who's out that if you were in Homewood and Vestavia and Mountain Brook and Cahaba Heights in Hoover and Bessemer in Irondale this does not affect you in any way shape or form you were not under a tornado warning tornado warnings do not cover entire counties the northern half of the county is involved the downtown Birmingham Center is not involved again for the major hospitals in Birmingham there's no need to do any tornado precautions for UAB no need for your tornado plan at this point because you are not in this specific warning the storm warning is for these areas north of downtown Birmingham again this is Morris right here this is US Highway 31 that's interstate 65 we got this broad circulation over here we'll take a look at the structure of the storm on the reflectivity and this is it's got some interesting you can see the inflow notch right here and if there's anything going on it's going to be right down in here and this is getting awfully close to Graysville so again Graysville and Adams bill if I'm calling out any of your communities you want to be in a safe place let's take a look at one of our skycams in Birmingham we can pull that back up in the sky cam Network Brian maybe the that's Fulton Dale maybe we can check the Alabama Power Cam downtown Birmingham or the Daniel building in downtown Birmingham we have cameras all over the place it's going to be hard to see things going to be very hard to see things here at night but we are interested in watching the Lightning illuminating the cloud bases and we'll just look and see with the storm passing north of downtown we might have a chance of seeing something if there happens to be something there I want to stress that we have heard no reports by the way The Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a tornado warning for Coleman County until 10 o'clock this is for the storm that is near Huntsville the storm we've been tracking we're going to go back to that in just a second so again The Weather Service in Huntsville issuing a tornado warning for The Weather Service for four people in Coleman County until 10 o'clock I'll tell you what let's go back to the polygons we'll have to do that Brian real quick there you go that's a Birmingham Skycam I want to show you who's in and who's out we'll go back to the main radar system behind me this is the new tornado warning in effect for Coleman County right here so let's zoom in and Holly Pond is included in this it includes Hanceville it includes Garden City it includes basically all of highway 278 east of Coleman so we advise no travel on highway 278 east of Coleman it includes the community of Joppa and includes the community of Holly pond so this is for about the eastern half of Coleman County that is a tornado warning in effect until 10 o'clock tonight we advise everybody just to be very careful and if you're in that part of the state go to your safe place and stay there until this thing passes let's take a look at the hi-res radar quickly behind me I'll show you this velocity couplet and that thing is basically sitting right on top of Hanceville this is very close to Hanceville in Wallis state moving northeast at SEL abanda highway 91 that goes up toward the Holly pond right here so we encourage everybody from Hanceville the Holly pond along highway 91 you want to be in a safe place the the course at the core threat is well to the south and east of downtown Coleman downtown Coleman is here and if we got our Skycam in Coleman Brian we can look down into that from the north our Skycam is located right here I wanted to also mention that one of the things that they're probably continuing the tornado warning on is that couplet has been very consistent while it has not been especially tremendously strong it has also been very consistent so I think they're taking the course of least regret here in keeping the tornado warning going for what it might be able to what that storm might produce James right did I I agree and I lose track of exactly which one was the one that hit Louisville Mississippi this might be that same one it it has been such a long day and we've had so many of these things I just don't know this is our Coleman sky can and again need to tag thunderstorms we do we need to give them a name but no this is the Coleman Skycam and again that is looking back to the west if we can swing it to keep going you're going to keep going in that direction but we'll go down to the south and this will give us a look into that and again if you're listening in the northern part of Jefferson's same thing we have circulation that is approaching Adamsville and Graysville along highway 78 ultimately it's going to be moving into Brookside and Cardiff and then Gardendale and Mount Olive if you're in any of these communities we're calling out when should be in a safe place in Tuscaloosa County Windham Springs areas far in northeast of the city of Tuscaloosa again we stressed the city of Tuscaloosa not under a tornado warning you have not been under one at any time today or tonight and then in Sumter County for the areas south of EPs Livingston York campus of the University of West Alabama you want to be in a safe place as well those are our tornado warning polygons so again that is the Coleman aced of downtown Coleman you might recall this camera got that remarkable live video of the tornado coming through downtown Coleman three years ago but obviously at night we're just not going to see much but there is strong evidence strong evidence of a tornado near Hanceville all right let's go back to our high res radar behind me and let me show you what we got down here again this is the sir halation you can see right here coming up into the highway 78 corridor this is the Walker County line you've got the community of Surrey that's just right here this is Graysville the interstate 22 corridor runs right in through here and again this is going to cross highway 78 and again Cardiff and Brookside ultimately Mount Olive and Gardendale if you are in any of these communities and this is north of downtown Birmingham downtown Birmingham I can give you an all-clear from this this will not affect downtown Birmingham this will not affect Bessemer it will not affect Hoover that's Tavia Cahaba heights Mountain Brook Homewood it will not affect Irondale these are all communities up in the northern end of Jefferson County but again this is going to be cutting across these northern suburbs and it is the new update and again you can see it's it's clustered right along Highway 78 really close to the interstate 22 exit where all the highway 78 traffic will get on to interstate 22 and of course the extension runs almost almost over - I 65 they're working on the completion of that it's not quite complete as of yet but again this is this new segment of interstate 22 for local traffic only out here but ultimately the next major thoroughfare is going to be interstate 65 which is right here especially north of i-20 to the i-20 to interchange under construction is right down here right below Fulton Dale and really the core threat is going to be north to Fulton Dale but if you are in Fulton Dale I would still be in a safe place Forrest Dale Fulton Dale points north safe place Gardendale Mount Olive Morris Kimberly warrior Brookside Cardiff these are communities where you want to be in a safe place this is really a little south of corner corners up in here technically yes you're in the tornado warning polygon and like we say if you're in it you might as well take your safety precautions but the core threat is going to be south of corner so that is the tornado warning for Jefferson let's go down and check the Tuscaloosa County storm and there's that large broad couplet and this thing is coming up on the county line so this thing is in the process of moving out of Jefferson touch Colusa County back over into Jefferson and again we will see what the weather service does with this this is another situation where they going to have a decision to make and down to the south we have a tornado warning for some pre let's go back to the big graphics system and show you the big picture and again you in our designated Market area we've got three polygons you've got the eastern Kuhlman the northern Jefferson the northeastern Tuscaloosa one two three down in the Meridian designated market we've got the Sumter County tornado warning polygon which is right here so that's really number four we know a lot of people there watch us so Sumter County Northeast Tuscaloosa County northern Jefferson and then up into of the eastern part of Coleman County so let's put the radar data back on here and we'll animate this and we'll just kind of show you the big picture and the storms are still somewhat linear our system was somewhat cellular not linear how long have we been here I I don't know I've lost you long is it still the same day that we start I don't know but because of the cellular nature of these things they are still in a position to where they can produce these tornadoes and again this is nothing like the circumstances we saw earlier today in Mississippi where some violent violent tornadoes touched down the high risk is no more but still conditions favored the possibility of a few tornadoes and we are going to have to watch these and you're going to have to watch these and we'll get through the night just fine but again you can let me just stress also for these storms up here from Gadsden North Thunder lightening yes severe weather no of course you asked 20 people Brian what is severe weather to them everybody's got an opinion but we have to go by a standard by the way The Weather Service has canceled the tornado warning for Jefferson excellent news The Weather Service has canceled the tornado warning for Jefferson County so if you are in Jefferson County and if you are in a safe place you can get out of that safe place and go about your business so very good news the tornado warning for Jefferson County has been canceled is that circulation is just simply too broad at this point so now we're down to two polygons we got the eastern Kuhlman we got the Northeast Tuscaloosa and we'll see what they do with that and looks like they've taken that out so we're basically down to on about the time we get down to the I'm is gonna say wait wait don't don't say it you're gonna jinx it you're gonna jinx it completely I know now we do have a severe thunderstorm warning for southern Tuscaloosa County a pretty good chunk of green and hail counties in northern Marin go this includes the city of Demopolis okay but this is the one tornado warning polygon that remains so let's go to our oh boy this thing looks bad tell you what check this out let's go back to the high res radar and that is the tornadic signature this is the city of Coleman that's highway 278 this is holly pond this thing is past a little north of Hanceville and it's moving northeast and more than likely that's going to be crossing us to 78 somewhere between holly pond and Coleman we still recommend that if you're in Holly pond you'll be in a safe place but this is clearly a storm that is moving more north-northeast at this point and that reduces any risk over here to Blount County this is Blountville and so it looks like Blount County you are not going to be involved in this but this rotation is moving northeast and again that warning is going to stay in effect for the eastern part of Coleman County until 10 o'clock so at this point we have one active tornado warning in our designated Market area the DMA and that is this storm for the eastern part of Coleman County this is Fairview right up here and you've got bale eaten right here and this thing will keep on moving so again for those of you in Fairview in bale eaten and Joppa same deal we recommend that you be in a safe place until this thing passes by if it stays intact it's going to wind up in Marshall County up in the Tennessee Valley of extreme North Alabama but it sure is good Brian looking at my map seeing only a one tornado warning polygon which is very refreshing and again we firmly believe that the core threat will be shifting over into a damaging straight-line wind event there is some broad rotation down in South Tuscaloosa County in fact let me just show you this that there's no formal tornado warning down here that's just something to watch this is some rotation that is currently located really along Interstate 59 or route the Warrior River Bridge down here around Foster's and that's kind of moving up the interstate that's interstate 59 20 coming up toward Tuscaloosa it's broad and that's the thing all of these couplets have been very broad and because of the history of the storms today The Weather Service erring on the side of caution has been issuing a lot of tornado warnings but we have had very very few damage reports tonight in with the he's with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department right yes yes so he's a lieutenant yes yes he said that he just checked with dispatch there in Tuscaloosa and the Sheriff's Department and there's been no reports anywhere of damage in Tuscaloosa County and daresay no 911 calls so that's a good sign so even though the radar is showing a rotation within the thunderstorm apparently it is not producing a tornado at the ground right so that's that's good so basically we can and again this is very broad this thing you see out here in the this is what's come out of Tuscaloosa County and no reports none and it's come through you know pretty decent population centers in North Tuscaloosa County they have let that one go so we are down to one tornado warning and it's this one that's in effect for Coleman County and again let me go over to the Weather Service chat in Huntsville the warning remains in effect until 10:00 hello no we just went for Bibb Hale and Tuscaloosa County tornado warning until ok and that that's the one down there that I was just showing you yes yeah about the time you think we're gonna get a break so here's the deal this let's go back to your map and let's show the the tornado warning polygon let's zoom into this and let's show who's in and who's out what is this the fourth warning for Tuscaloosa County I think so all right this does include Tuscaloosa this does include the University of Alabama it does not include Northport okay so again this includes downtown Tuscaloosa the University of Alabama campus and points south this is the far northern edge of the polygon the core threat is going to be down here down to the south but again if you are in the city of Tuscaloosa if you are on the campus of the University of Alabama is a course of least regret we recommend going through your tornado plan and now small room lowest floor near the center away from windows everybody on campus there should have their plan in place the core threat again is going to be down to the south but this more than likely is going to be crossing Alabama highway 69 somewhere down here below Inglewood down here toward the Hale County line and then somewhere around Duncanville on us 82 that's highway 69 coming south out of Tuscaloosa Shelton State is right there Hillcrest High School is right there at us 82 coming south out of Tuscaloosa that's interstate 59 20 right here so that's your polygon and let's look at the actual rotation center and again you can see it very clearly on our radar the high-rez radar will put that behind me and there it is so this is a pretty good tornado signature and again it's going to be moving up in this direction like that the core threat will be south of Interstate 59 20 but I can't rule out again if you're in this thing you need to do something about it and if this does include the city of Tuscaloosa and the campus of the University of Alabama it does not include Northport it does not include Coker it does not include Samantha this time it does not include Lake Tuscaloosa it does include : it includes Vance it includes Brookwood it includes Duncanville it includes Moundville which is in Hale County so and this is the signature right here that's going to be moving steadily to the northeast that's a pretty good signature let's take a look at it on the reflectivity display and there's the inflow and that's the possible tornado right here this thing is kind of hugging the Tuscaloosa Hale County line it's very close to Moundville so if you're in Moundville you need to be in a safe and again this will keep on moving across us 82 there's a pretty decent chance the core of this Brian is going to stay way to the south of Tuscaloosa this is hard when you're on the border of these things it's draw the polygon pretty close there's still you know some uncertainty in there but it does look like the campus and the the heart of downtown Tuscaloosa are actually going to be on the northern edge of that and probably be several miles away from where that velocity couplet is likely to track yep so again Cottondale is in Kolding is in vance is in Brookwood is in Vance is in Kolding Cottondale Duncanville if I mentioned your community you were in the tornado warning and you need to go to a safe place the city of Tuscaloosa the city of the campus of the University of Alabama Northport is not okay okay let's go to the Tuscaloosa Skycam that we're seeing a tornado or anything like that but just the fact that just look at the the nearly continuous lightning that is going on with that storm the continuous lightning is ominous sign it's not a good thing it's not a good thing at all but again we've got a clear notch and potential for a tornado that is south of Tuscaloosa by about 10 miles in a few minutes I think we can trim this thing down and clear the city of Tuscaloosa in the campus of the University of Alabama but let's give it about five or ten minutes clearly the core threat is going to be the far southern end of Tuscaloosa County and this particular rotation is coming up on Mount village we can double box that in me with the high-rez radar behind it that's the inflow notch and again that's the possible tornado that is very close to Moundville Mount Ville is just across the county line Moundville is in hail County just you throw a rock from downtown Moundville you'll have the rock in Tuscaloosa County it's pretty much sitting on the county line and this is hugging the county line clearly everybody in Moundville Moundville State Park Hale County High School everybody in town you need to be in a safe place this is clearly also going to be a problem for a Duncanville anybody close to Duncanville down highway 82 and again even as far north it is Inglewood and you know the Hillcrest neighborhoods around Shelton State up into the city of Tuscaloosa would not be a bad idea to be in a safe place more than likely up in the Tuscaloosa side that we're going to see hail and the tremendous lightning show that you're seeing but the core tornado threat is going to be down to the south Brian the National Weather Service is reporting a confirmed tornado near Holly pond okay and that makes sense and again this is a tornado warning that's in effect for Kuhlman Morgan and Marshall County's The Weather Service is calling this a confirmed tornado near Holly pond and again that is up in the far north eastern part of Coleman County and of course that they had been warned on this for a while but it's moving next up into a Marshall County so again this is just for those of you in Coleman County if you're in Holly pond you need to stay in a safe place for about the next 10 or 15 minutes we'll be able to give an all-clear for Coleman County fairly soon as the storm moves up into Marshall County Marshall County belongs to the Huntsville television market Coleman County belongs to us so again we'll show you that in just a second in fact we'll do it very quickly here let me go up and where we're seeing multiple little hooks shuttle I don't like the looks of any of this stuff you know that we aren't clearly not out of the woods but again this is the storm right here near Holly pond has produced a possible tornado there's been a tornado warning for this part of Coleman County for a while but again this is moving northeast up toward places like Fairview and Bale eaten and Joppa and a Rabb if you live in any of those places you just need to be in a safe place that's our warning for Coleman County it looks like now we got Birmingham under a polygon Brian where's that old I think that's old that's old okay good this is the old polygon The Weather Service decided to no they have issued a tornado warning I take that back all right tornado warning for Jeff oh sorry yes it scrolled off yeah so they have now reissued the tornado warning for Jefferson so let's go back to our polygon map we're going to take off the radar data and put on the polygons only this is going to be a tornado warning for Jefferson County and affected until 10:45 I will put the we can the main graphic system behind me alright and let's take this full screen against anybody can see this this is the tornado warning for Jefferson and unfortunately this one does include downtown Birmingham this will include Oak Grove Concord Pleasant Grove Sylvan Springs McDonald Chapel Edgewater Pratt City this includes amis ville Graysville forest Dale Gardendale Mount Olive Fulton Dale Forrest Dale Pinson chalk ville clay Trussville iron Dale this does include Mountain Brook and Cahaba Heights and includes Homewood it includes Vestavia it includes a little bit of about to say a little bit of Bessemer maybe Lipscomb but if I've called out the name of your town we've got a tornado warning now and this is for Jefferson County and this is for the Birmingham Metro so we've got two tornado warnings effective now one for the Tuscaloosa Metro south of Tuscaloosa in this one for the Birmingham Metro so and again let's go back to the high res radar just quickly let me show you what we got here again right back in this part of the storm we've got potential for a tornado that is in the vicinity of Concord and Pleasant Grove this is a positioning somewhat similar not not intensity but positioning somewhat similar to the twenty eighth of three years ago if something is down here more than likely it's small but it doesn't matter in the f0 and ef-1 that is a threat to life and property and you need to respect that so again potential for a tornado out of the vicinity of Concord Pleasant Grove moving to the east northeast this polygon again will include the city of Birmingham downtown Birmingham Adamsville Forrest Dale Graysville places like McDonald's Apple Pratt City Edgewater Sylvan Springs and then ultimately in the i-65 corridor again the core threat more than likely is going to be just north of downtown Birmingham maybe as far south as North Birmingham maybe as far south as Tarrant City this can include Centrepointe clay-chalkville and Pinson if you live in any of these cities this is a tornado warning for the Birmingham Metro until 10:45 tonight alright that is for a radar indicated tornado which you can clearly see is right here so that is the Birmingham tornado will check the Tuscaloosa tornado and this thing is really ramping up this is a very dangerous looking storm this is a storm that is south of downtown Tuscaloosa moving in this direction the this is the northern edge of the polygon and keep in mind the polygon allows for a lot of error the core threat is going to be clearly south of interstate 59 that's interstate 59 20 that's right here everybody along highway 69 basically from Tuscaloosa south to Moundville you should be in a safe place nobody should be driving you should be out of mobile homes you should be in a small room on the lowest floor near the center away from windows this is a very very strong tornado a signature this is one of the strongest ones we've seen in a while and this will be affecting the southern part of the city the southern part of Tuscaloosa County after it crosses highway 69 and again more than likely it'll be crossing highway 69 somewhere basically from Shelton state south to Moundville somewhere in that strip down through there Inglewood that area next it will be crossing us 82 everybody from McFarland Boulevard all the way down to Duncanville you need to be in a safe place and again this will continue to move on up in this direction so Brian let me pick it to you from one quick second well I talked with our producer okay what we have up on the the map here behind me is that the polygons this is for the cell that's coming into Jefferson County it does affect the cities of Birmingham Mountain Brook gets down very close to Vestavia Hills and Gardendale Fulton Dale Adams Ville over here Fulton Dale up here so it's affecting the downtown area so any of the hospitals need to consider that the
