Applying for German Citizenship

hey guys stand here just wanted to give you guys a quick update of what I did today I went down to the German Embassy down in Washington DC to apply for my German citizenship which is pretty sweet apparently Germany has a law naturalization law article 116 - if you guys are interested basically saying that if you or your ancestors left Germany during the 30s or 40s during the war then you can apply for citizenship through naturalization so my grandparents left in the late 30s which makes me eligible apparently so I've been working with my parents to get all the paperwork and everything to prove all of that and luckily my parents came up with you know enough paperwork so my dad and I took a ride down to the embassy and yeah we met with someone who looked through all the paperwork and told us that it should be enough so process for this now is we got a weed about 8 to 12 months but at least we're starting now so hopefully I will get an email you know in less than a year saying that I am approved for it they've got to send all the paperwork out to Germany to the government out there to review everything and just make sure everything's in order but hopefully you know everything's good on my end and yeah hopefully that's all we need to do so with any luck in about a year or so I should have a German passport as well that's pretty exciting and since Germany is part of the EU that means a German citizenship is a European Union citizenship so kind of opens up the possibilities so really wanted to get this done I knew there was a long lengthy process for this so we wanted to make sure we got this done before we leave which is coming up soon so yeah hopefully everything is good with that and hope there are no issues so just want to give you an update let me know if you have any questions or if you guys think you might be eligible and I can give you some updates and give you any info you need so thanks see ya
