so this is why I like living in a van just having some lunch and then this is the view [Music] hey guys my name is Dan and my girlfriend and I live in this band it is a 2001 mercedes-benz Sprinter that is converted into a camper van we got it at about two hundred and fifty one thousand kilometers and we've already put about three thousand kilometers on it just driving all through North Island so far so this is our house I love it up here is our bed and we have this ladder that we keep up there to save space and you just bring it down like this and it locks in right here and I remember like the wall slopes down and it looks like it would be terrible it's actually amazing like I sleep better here that I do at home you have a curtain even close you know it was really cold the first night but we put this foam insulation by the window and got like more blankets and then it was fine really warm and cozy so this is the kitchen area we got our Singh stove we have a little oven like this big tiny but it works fridge have a decent amount of fridge space when we first got it was like oh it's small but you know you adapt and get used to it and a little freezer in here and then this is all our this one's food this is utensils and plates under here it's just like pots pans containers this comes down when you're driving a nice cutting board kind of thing and then we have these bins that kind of hold all of our stuff because when you're driving around it's like the long long trailer with Lucille Ball it's a timely reference this comes down and we keep all with a bunch of knowledge Ian's we keep in here it's our water jug and you can just this really for it now cuz we just read the dump station so you slide this out and then you can fill up cups with it this is all are like indoor drinking water you can also use the stuff that comes out this happens drinking water as well but we like to save this for like dishes and showers and then keep like the drinking water separate because you just want to make sure you have enough water we it's really easy to go over and you don't want to run out if you're not around oh station with free water keep every help this stuff forty cuz I'm I love see you now thanks to New Zealand and that locks up all my clothes are in here and then this is all storage all of these are storage which is great so you know I got some food up there in here you have like your nice mirror for getting ready or whatever keep laundry in there so this is part of the table this comes out and you have the table put away and this hole right here so you can um set up a table if you need it we don't really use it so we keep it put away so we have more stuff um these lifts up and that's more storage where our TV so we're gonna see my cable and can hook in and we just watch like a movie every night yeah these lifts up and you know just for ventilation um all the curtains go up in the windows you know open up which is nice run off of solar um so you know don't have to pay for electricity which is really nice it's our monitor you constantly have to be monitoring your levels so as you can see we're around a hundred percent fresh water which is great that's awesome um grey water that's all like wastewater from the sinks and shower that's a thirty five percent once it gets up to seventy we'll go to the dump station battery this is our solar a lot of battery left so yeah all our levels are good this is the switch for the pump for the water and then the hot water heater which I'm gonna turn on I'm gonna take a shower and I start eating that up here we are at a dump station this is what we do every couple days and it dumped the gray water from the very water tank greywater is the tank that holds the the water that goes down the sink and the shower in there so we got an 85 litre gray water tank so how much we use it we do it about every other day or so well that's going I also don't bar clearly cartridge zoom it'll miss oh we're not gonna show it don't worry don't worry guys you don't have to watch this I'm gonna cut away now cuz I like you and I respect you as people too much so what are you doing filling the freshwater tank now how much does the tank hold fresh water is another eighty five litre tank doing some fish for lunch fish is pretty easy sometimes ooh chicken for dinner and we'll do a veg with it so we need pretty healthy all the time I eat better here than I did at home so a part of van life I definitely need my coffee so I gotta do it a little different normal I got this little silicone tea cup or coffee cup and you put a filter in there put a couple scoops coffee in and then just pour the hot water over it like this and it brews it and then just drips out the bottom into the cup family it's definitely different from living in a house you know it does come with compromise you losing a lot of convenience and house amenities that are nice but you know but the trade-off is we get to try around New Zealand and see beautiful scenery and landscapes every day and do adventures every day and stay in a new place every night and you know it's definitely worth it so nice to be able to travel all over the country and your house is right there with you so we're headed to the campsite I would like to get there a little before dark as they tend to fill up especially the free ones we got a free local one right outside of town so hopefully it's not too busy this one looks nice we check a camper mate it's an app that kind of tells you all the information we need to know yeah we do this every night kind of midday we plan out what we're gonna do that day where we're going to end up and try to find a campsite around the area looks like it's right here nice it's great on the water looks like there's a lot of spots so it will get maybe other side of this guy that's good another thing you got to worry about one parking your van is if you're on an angle or not that definitely makes a difference for cooking or showering so all the water goes down the drain when you're getting out of the bed in the middle of the night so you don't fall over a couple close calls on that but yeah I think that's a good view of the same thing every day you know you definitely have to plan ahead a lot more gotta figure out we were going what are you doing later but it's definitely worth it you know we've seen so much we've done so much we can expect to get that much done but we had beautiful weather you know we did the waterfall we went over watch the water flow out of the dam you know it done so much so far we've only been into the band forgets three weeks now it seems like it's been so much longer we kind of have our routine down there's definitely help so we're definitely comfortable move and we're definitely liking it and we're excited for future adventures yes they do some more ventures [Music]
