That man has amazing forearms.
The way the guy explains it is basically the previous person that shoed him screwed it up, so the poor horse has been walking with one of his feet turned inward and with shoe that doesn't fit.
Really impressed by how calm the horse is. "Oh, is that red-hot piece of metal burning my hoof? It is? No biggie."
So what happens to wild horses hooves? Is there a natural process that they have to deal with this? Or is it a non issue because no one is on their back. Hopefully someone knowledgeable can chime in, Iβm super curious.
Thanks for the post! Jeez, nice stables, and what a beauty! Farriers (good ones) are the unsung heroβs when it comes to horses (IMO). Obviously, this guys a pro. My SO had a few Belgium draft horses, and it used to make my day when theyβd come running over to greet me. Tho admittedly, Iβd catch myself wondering, are they gonna stop this time? I mean at ~2000lbs each, if they donβt stop, itβs gonna leave a good size mark.
I bet this costs an arm and a leg.
So satisfying to watch, I love when he takes big bits out.
Why did he wrap the ankle? Is that just so he has better grip without the fur getting in the way?
Putting the red hot shoe on the horseβs hoof has to smell.... interesting
