The way the guy explains it is basically the previous person that shoed him screwed it up, so the poor horse has been walking with one of his feet turned inward and with shoe that doesn't fit.

Really impressed by how calm the horse is. "Oh, is that red-hot piece of metal burning my hoof? It is? No biggie."

So what happens to wild horses hooves? Is there a natural process that they have to deal with this? Or is it a non issue because no one is on their back. Hopefully someone knowledgeable can chime in, I’m super curious.

Thanks for the post! Jeez, nice stables, and what a beauty! Farriers (good ones) are the unsung hero’s when it comes to horses (IMO). Obviously, this guys a pro. My SO had a few Belgium draft horses, and it used to make my day when they’d come running over to greet me. Tho admittedly, I’d catch myself wondering, are they gonna stop this time? I mean at ~2000lbs each, if they don’t stop, it’s gonna leave a good size mark.

So satisfying to watch, I love when he takes big bits out.

Why did he wrap the ankle? Is that just so he has better grip without the fur getting in the way?

Putting the red hot shoe on the horse’s hoof has to smell.... interesting

[Music] domino cascade effect take it take care of everything else fine yeah he's just gonna set the clip a wee bit - yeah you can see exactly in a pretty decent connection up through here it's not really going that much higher this looks really really bad but not great but it's not terrible almost we know we're doing almost I did bring this video in alone by yourself yep [Music] so contact so it's okay to have a little bit of contact there but definitely don't want pressure and draft courses especially we already know he's a little sore footed and got some issues the last thing you want to do is keep any contact your pressure with just a little stressed out and no I was gonna I told you should take a picture and be like just look right it says it to Travis and tell him that I did it see where this what's called the buttress which is the very end of the heel is right here so you see the difference the distance in relation to the front what's called the dorsal right the front here so this distance now is longer than this right so but if I trim this down because it grows at this angle the more I trim the further back the buttress goes right so what happens is when there's wind it's pushed too far forward you actually will get loading so his navicular just say roughly it's somewhere in this range if you let it run too far forward that you actually just get constant pressure right over the you make it can you're squishing it like that so you can drop the heels too far for sure but you can also let them run too far forward so just like with any any profession you have to know where you know too much not enough but that's why you so I'm not really going to take a whole lot off here I want to try to take a little off see if I can get him to bear more weight here and sit on the soil but as you can see most of its coming off here so just standing was probably uncomfortable wrong he I don't know if you just noticed like when I put my foot down and readjusted that one he's lame on this one just now like like he took a long step just just moving his way that I saw yeah so so yeah probably what happens in two is on the bottom of the copper one right here is what's called a distal circumflex artery and when hold on I know when there's too much pressure on it too much constant pressure some you know soul pressure with him from shoeing or anything it's essentially like having a tourniquet to shut it off and say for sure you want the budget to be at the highest and widest point of the Frog so I'm I've already taken quite a bit of heat off these are just markers that we use to try to determine like waiter where did some that the Lt but his field is here was really really pushed forward I need to tap like that I'm just getting the like that to get the like if there's a little flake stuck in here like what if those uh they're not Bush babies but the weird Madagascar and lemur things they have that claw and they checking for grubs so like this discoloration here this has nothing necessary do with the shooing this is just barefoot probably that's shows like a history of bruising from just standing on her soul like I said that's unrelated to shooing well it could be but in this case I think it's unrelated are you observing that or ya know maybe I am going if you want to say slowly but that's more harsh there's those two two reasons - that hold on one his tolerances just as mental tolerance is not there so I don't like I can't be as aggressive because when you're really aggressive you run the risk of when he makes a move or a jerk making a big mistake so you have to be careful at that and - as I'm trimming on I'm going a small amount small amounts because I hold his whole foot twisted to the medial side so you know once you remove it you can't put it back on by making small adjustments to where I feel I can get the first three balanced them are you grinding over shoes oh I forgot to do it did you trim the media heel can you see it or no I can't see you I I know them are one the ones yeah what the pendants all one kind of comes in Hey cuz I'm not coconut [Music] [Music] [Music] right so on this frog here which isn't terrible but then you can see some here here she's kind of he's got some high spots and low spots [Music] but the point is for him to be on the shoe on this yeah or if he's barefoot like even when you even when you prep a foot to shoot ideally you would want them to be bearing just on the rim maybe a tiny bit on the protein like I said that's why this is it I don't worry too much about this like I'm okay with that but this one was a little bit worse but I just have a pressure spots here and here are a little bit yeah ideally you want like this like see this rim even that little bit is great [Music] [Music] the best [Music] [Music] [Music] we make as we make that [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] deceptive sounds probably about right there even those frogs pointing the other way we used to think that frogs didn't move a lot of area use it as a guideline but it will actually twist with the foot you can really see it unfortunately it's not trimmed great enough to really demonstrate it but what's happening is this coffin one is still in there like this probably pointing I might be exaggerating a little bit but it's in about this position and it's perfect like this and so what happens is this stretches all this any probably starting rotating see why that is so will the help coming out for sure today although Oh [Music] I don't think we need to worry about being sensitive with that stock [Music] [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] here in here so that that's just showing you as we wrote like we're gonna take off this media hook that's causing them to twist [Music] easier I thought you said she could stay in there forever she says I'm gonna go with my turnout now I had to work earlier [Music] [Music] friend you make haste [Music] [Music] okay I have an Arab a half Arabic or diverse everybody just needs their feet trimmed I would kind of like to be apart because two of them are gonna go on to have into some show shoes on later mm-hmm so I don't want to be cutting them off and who you know what's that [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] what what yeah kind of what we're looking at what we need to keep an eye on you know that if it's not fixed what our next step you know you can see this like that's it this is this is about how hard it'll shut up and then this stuff is softer okay
