it's 9am for him and on friday like he probably has to be a bit of a sneaky pe right when he's at work so ball singular on screen but balls multiple per episode but saying do you like my small red my he's a good boy we love our josh um so this episode uh why cry because um he's a little cutie he's trying to be cute this episode is about exaggeration so we're working on like animating stuff and then at least they're not blue the blue ball would be would be bad mel correct the red balls are cute don't know about that um working on exaggeration so the principle of exaggeration i.e animation is all about exaggerating everything yeah motion color expression whatever so we're going through things like you know they're not happy they're really happy and they're not like strong they're really strong and they're not cute they're super duper cute and because i like super duper cute boy um we're gonna just give him a little bit of a little bit of shaky eyes as well so this is actually done i don't actually need to do anything more on this bit um but i quite liked strong boy and i quite liked um sad boy and we've got a happy man here as well uh unless we've got some footage from old episodes and stuff like that so you'll be pleased to know that today we'll actually be animating uh red ball slapping blue square in the face first of all we're going to do it like normal normal slap and then we're going to exaggerate the hell out of the snap okay so that's what we're going to be doing today which is uh hopefully gonna be fun i think i hope i wish i pray i need my ground though um so i'm gonna start i'm actually gonna do this in a new scene i've got my own scene ready and waiting [Music] right there but we're going to mute the audio layer because otherwise it's going to sound weird whenever we come to do stuff with it so i need a ground layer to start off with and we're going to need circle and we're going to need a square layer [Music] hey cadalla what is up welcome to yeah i've been thinking about it maybe between my members who knows could definitely be interesting um but i don't know i'd have to have like two spare minutes to do that at the moment which i don't have so uh when i get some spare time yeah absolutely i'd love to do like an animation contest i've got a few ideas maybe one of my ideas was a 12 principles contest based on all the lessons we've just been doing and the winner might win like a graphics tablet that i've got lying around or something like that but i don't actually know yet so we're gonna see we're gonna see i don't really haven't really had time to like set anything up if that makes sense so we want circle boy slapping square boy in the face that's going to be today's animation fingers crossed all the teeth get to stay in maybe on this first one but on the exaggerated one who knows who knows maybe those teeth go are flying [Music] i kind of want them like as if they're mid conversation you know so they're going to be like overlapping each other a little bit maybe something like that so red ball is actually going to have his back to us so let's give ourselves a little bit of room to work circles going to need limbs and i'm pretty sure everything's going to be below but we'll make some layers just in case and square is also gonna need a face and he's gonna need some limbs too probably below but also probably above like that and then this one uh you can do like a little a little like boosh like that so we know that everything below that is our circle and everything above it is the square or the other round i can't even remember so let's just crack around with this thing first i'm gonna do is this guy's face so that anybody looking at the video knows what the hell they're looking at essentially that's far too chunky a brush though so we'll just bring that down a bit maybe down to like a 14. yeah that works nice go go to the dentist oh sorry you were talking to kidalo and you said well the teeth get to stay in yes you're right guitar talking about your teeth well now the blue guy is losing your teeth simple as that um oh goddamn there i actually switched screens with this stupid like wacom preview ring what's it rubbish don't want any of that thank you very much we want you to be on the cintiq pro what's happening why is it switched screens what the hell i don't want that what on earth is happening here um we want him to be here there we go we're back stupid buttons uh suraj hello what happened to the tough game oh toff is out with my wife at the moment so you'd be looking at an empty bed um which you can do if you want but it's uh not super interesting but yeah no she's not there at the moment unfortunately let's have him just like chilling out because this isn't like the uh exaggerated animation this is going to be the example of like perfectly fine but not terribly well executed so he's just going to be kind of chilling in this one the slap's going to be there but it's not going to be overly dramatic yeah and then we get to the fun bit and we do the crazy slap animation so i think all these limbs might actually be behind him unless maybe let's have him have his arms crossed i just looks kind of like a bow tie with these stick figures isn't it let's not do that for now let's shift them out of the way but no that will probably re-overlap them again and then the circle here we're going to need some red limbs on him but i'm going to put him all above because he's not a circle he's actually a sphere so his legs have to come out of his butt a little bit like that but then this limb is gonna come from behind make sense right kadala good luck at the dentist have fun i don't know if that looks right but his legs are on the front you know maybe we maybe we don't do that yeah that looks better and then we will have these guys overlapping so it's a bit more clear that they're having a conversation obviously when this is animated it will make sense immediately you want to make sure that your key poses make sense at least straight away sassy at you with the hands on hips yeah he's about to slap him so even though this is like the wrong animation you still need it to look good because it's supposed to be fine you know like a fine animation and then we'll take it to the next level by just exaggerating everything so what do we want this guy to do first of all we want him to rear back and just backhand him so let's stick that on a twos and we'll just have him rear back like this for the sake of they will do a little bit of uh easing so he's gonna rear back he's gonna ease in and out of this one oh god what happened there nice because i moved the um anchor point that was silly of me he's in and out like boom a little bit of a pause there as he holds that position quick quick through like i said it's not supposed to be wrong just gonna be fine [Music] out and then we'll hold alt to bring our original keyframe back and get him back into his original position he's in and out cubicle nice bosh now we'll give this a little bit [Music] of squash and stretch because like i said it's supposed to be a good animation just not a particularly exaggerated one nice boom boom here we'll add in one more keyframe just to emphasize i think that might be a little bit too much stretch here let's push that a bit further nice awesome that is pretty good i think just start to learn how to use adobe animate i watched two and a half hours of your tutorials in one sitting oh that's a lot well done very happy to help well done eric sweetman that's the way uh now you're gonna watch another two hour live stream so you got a lot of a lot of work to do right so now we draw the key poses for the limbs she's going to reel back i wanted to like backhand him so we've got the original position bam then we've got this one and we're just gonna have his hand tucked behind the body there okay something like that and we're gonna actually feel the slap from [Music] bam this keyframe here [Music] like that [Music] then his arm's gonna overshoot and then before coming back for a complete leap nice let's do the other limbs over here she's leaning into this but we don't want to bend his legs because if we wanted to look sassy and because we still want to look sassy we'll leave this other hand on the hip as well [Music] bam until here at which point it would come like the other way to overshoot and keep balance so if you've got a choice we can either bring it up here to balance out [Music] boom make your arm come back you know that makes sense does that make sense i think that makes sense yeah that is great watch time that's really helpful actually thank you for doing it all in one sitting which series is it that you watched was it uh intro 2021 nice that was good [Music] that looks okay [Music] i have to tweak that when we actually come to uh animate the blue guy but we'll see [Music] what is this world where's tavern music that always randomly comes on in this playlist honestly an early version oh uh 2018 2020 the one with the the sunset probably right right in between there and there we just need to get his hand back to the original position and we can do all of that on twos i think let's bring that back in a bit have his hands start to bend this way again before coming back to rest there nice that looks fine again this is the one that's not meant to be beautiful so we'll stick with fine because that's the whole point of this little segment one thing people don't realize is that you know on all these sections where i show you how to do it properly it means that i have to do it not properly first so that's when he's brought his hands up four one two three four like that starting to bring their hand around and then started to come up and then we got there so that should be that arm yeah nice that looks fine awesome you had the guy bouncing down a hill oh yeah no that's the 2021 version that's the latest version of that um tutorial and honestly the best one i think so i'm glad that's the one you watched um it's my favorite version of that series that i've done i kept doing it each year and then finding ways to make it better so yeah thank you for watching the whole thing wow in one sitting as well that's crazy [Music] all right i need a couple of ones here [Music] not a lot of movement in the legs again because we don't want it to be super exaggerated at the moment we want the super exaggerated one to come after [Music] and now that we know we're happy with it let's just convert this to a frame by frame animation get rid of that staccato we like weirdness awesome slap bang in the middle then we need a keyframe here and watching you draw the stick arms and legs is so satisfying i don't know why yeah there is something there is something really satisfying about drawing something so simple i think it's just because it allows you not to think about stuff you know you can just kind of do it oh you finished hollow knight hundred and twelve percent took you two-ish days to do god home how are you enjoying it bumbo it's such an incredible game isn't it man i even i haven't 100 and i haven't 100 hit 112 percent of that game it's massive how long do you think it's taking you like overall to do because that's quite the endeavor and we need one two three four 112 percent in hollow knight like it's nothing awesome so not much movement in the body really between that frame and that frame so let's have that arm ease in quite a bit [Music] before hitting that pose and then here the elbow does kind of freak out a bit but that's okay because we can fix that a little bit no one's really gonna be looking at this arm i don't think awesome sauce okay let's take a look at any frames i missed like the legs i can move that down to two a two frame preview now as well i think no i was jumping the gun let's lock all the other layers though [Music] all right i got a few missing arm frames here boom boom that needs a frame [Music] not much movement in the body so we'll just leave the legs pretty much where they are and then on the next frame that gives us a chance to then just jump between the poses boom like that and then here we want the same thing continued momentum from that previous frame before snapping back into position there but i think what we need is just one one more settling frame and probably again the same thing for this arm because it did kind of slam when i thought about it before so just give them another frame to settle in save that so how much a year are you doing animations of how long uh lots of time now since i was like 17 18 maybe i didn't take it seriously until a few years ago about 100 hours man that's a long time finished whole night in 100 hours i think i've played that game for 60 hours and only done the main stuff so that's that's quite the achievement bumbo nice one did you enjoy it by the end or was it just a slog right there's our red ball there's our red ball animation boom all right so now let's do our blue guy reacting to him i'm just going to outline all of that so that we can still see gosh what's going on but we can more easily see our important bit now so i think by this point he'd begin to wince right so we need him kind of easing into that wince maybe he'd just lift back turn his face slightly maybe lift his arms slightly as well again don't want this to be too exaggerated because that's the whole point of the next one where we really go overboard so we'll go to you and we'll have his eyes squint a little bit but he kind of keeps his eyes in the same place behind there excuse me boom boom like that hell yeah baby that looks good oops wrong blue pop pop pop so he's kind of wincing a little bit he's going to get slapped i'm like second day of god home was boring with the last day fighting the radiance is extremely fun for like a big achievement yeah the radiance fight looks like so much fun i've never actually done it myself did i do the radiance you get the radiance if you do not the true true ending right or is that the true ending i thought the moth guy got it years since i've done this game but for the big white moth is that the radiance i can't remember i think it's the radiance but yeah what a cracking game that was min duck dough hello welcome to the livestream probably butchered that pronunciation that needs to be a bit earlier maybe like that and then impact is that frame right here which is yeah nice that's still on twos awesome that's all we want so here we want the square to bosh like this we almost want that to be like the start of it a start position just want to snap to that position here like that so you hold that position you snap into that like that and then we get him going back so classic tween and that one we remove the tween just for visuals even though there's no motion there actually ease in and out of that one boom that one is a full ease out like quint quint ease out and that one's maybe a quartz easing it out yeah that looks nice cool let's do it's between there and there there's no movement at all for this guy so we'll need a keyframe for his face here well technically we don't but but yeah clear that keyframe too then then by this point we'll need a new keyframe and then by this point we'll have returned to the original so that we can loop it nicely there is a radius of the temple of the black egg and a radiance ending in godhome no okay i've not done the god home one i've done the black egg gradients and that was hard enough jesus christ that fight belongs to him with like six hours i'm not good at video games so there's that to consider first of all um and hollow knight is just hard as nails anyway excuse me sorry i combined took me a long time right so here he's getting actually hit and that's the face we need the limbs gosh by this point his limbs would have swoofed into the other direction i think so definitely have like a bent leg taking that weight and that that leg's bent to like that and his arms swung out that way and now we do need an arm swung out on the top as well but let's [Music] too close to give up yeah when you get that far you know you need it so we're gonna squeeze his eyes but we're also gonna have them [Music] squeezed shot and he needs a big red cheek as well like that [Music] and of course we need to switch that layer around so his face is below it it's a little bit low on his body and let's push it off his body a bit as well so we get that nice silhouette and then i think the only color we'll need for this one then is this lighter blue okay fill in that sucker there paint behind highlight that cheek bam um and then when we come to exaggerate it we'll add some red in there as well [Music] awesome now by this point it's like properly like it's coming off of his face like that and he's back to smiling perfect that's hilarious [Music] that needs to be on the right layer you muppet [Music] no that's back down to nothing in there awesome let's check those keys then boom [Music] nice i think that works i think i want those on ones and then these on twos fool slap of love my back just immediately feels so much better that was too powerful because red slap blues eyebrows out now we're gonna have him slap a tooth out in the exaggerated one like i said this is supposed to be a good piece of animation it's just not supposed to be uh so exaggerated enough um because that's what this principle is all about so let's don't want this to look bad we want it to look perfectly usable you know alrighty ho ho what do we need we need our dark ink color and we're going to need boom to color in these eyebrows awesome so i'm just going to do this straight ahead because the transition is so big it doesn't actually matter so we'll get two frames behind you from the head see how much the body moves quite a bit and we'll just have his eyes start to open he's gonna start to turn back towards our red guy like that then we've got this frame here which will make quite a bit of movement there so definitely separate those out give me a bit of a curved mouth move some of these eyebrows over a bit like that and he's looking a bit dazed now we've got perfect in between might have to make this on ones but we shall see zen music yeah luigi we've got some nice lo-fi chilling out music here what do you do to minimize the boil effect uh practice practice drawing smooth lines and um using like the smoothing on your brush and stuff like that oh you could have left his eyebrows floating where they started yes eric sietman fantastic idea that's what i'm doing on the exaggerated version of this so well done for thinking of that but uh this is supposed to be just like the perfectly fine animation as opposed to the heavily exaggerated one so we are going to leave that for the heavily exaggerated version of this animation but yes you are absolutely right 100 why am i over a sudden coloring is it because that's the last frame yeah not a problem let's go through and color [Music] no white needed there [Music] thank you so i need it for any of these frames a little bit here and that's it so the rest we actually just need a bit of blue one two three four and then a painted circle and line fills that in [Music] god coloring with this as on is so quick i love it just ability to just switch between all these tools in one finger is insane i love this thing so much i can't wait to do the video review on it it's just so fast awesome you guys ready it's a little let's see nice that looks good to me i think his face travels a bit too much though it should move like loads bam like once it hits like that area it should kind of stay that amount over i think so i'm just going to tweak i don't think i should be traveling for quite so long so we'll just move him over you know like it should reach the edge of his head a bit quicker i strongly this friday i'm slowly losing my mind i haven't slept in a long time but we're drawing pictures with a circle slapping a square but it's good it's good to be back so now we're going to do a very exaggerated circle slapping a very exaggerated square i'm just thinking best way to do this uh i think it's just to start again i think it's just to start a giggity giggity giggity goddamn game we want to start with the first same keyframe though for sure but now we really really really want to push to the limit push it to the limit push it to the limit hello oh these floods in new york yeah they've been insane haven't they really scary stuff i hope everyone's like safe or as safe as can be in these ridiculous situations but yeah that's some of the footage is is insane the kind of level that we've of destruction you know that we've seen gotta add those arcs in remember and whilst we're here we'll just add in a little bit of squash and stretch too bam i'm gonna hold this position for a bit like crack out and we want another arc that moves super duper quick over to this position classique oops excuse me classic tween i'm gonna ease in and out quint style and then right in the middle we want a super impactful little bosh bam and then here we have it like take a bit more time this is going to be the biggest slap you ever seen in your life he's going to finish it dabbing what's the big big what big what is what is a big fat triangle dropped from above and made them purple uh what if a big fat triangle dropped from the bottom made them purple splat that would be hilarious but not what we're going for here the whole point is we've done one slap and then we're gonna do a super exaggerated slap as well we're not even going to have them returned to the same position i don't think because uh we want this to be more emphasized so easy now that last position there yeah that's nice that's a good body movement right there a little bit a little bit um not super smooth here so what i'm going to do is just tweak these by keyframing each of them to get a nicer smooth arc and then do the same thing here we'll extend keyframe sorry not there let's say from here we want want another keyframe here to keep that arc of motion going and then about here see like that and now i get a bit more of a smooth arc [Music] see i'm gonna do the same thing here as well so that bit looks okay like that but then here we want to smooth this out a bit and believe it or not here we probably want to bring it out to overshoot the action like that really subtle difference it's going to be ease out quint no not he's in and out just he's out bosh i think that works but that's got to be like way you might as well just remove all of that and just have a single frame remove
