hey guys what's going on it's Don here from Nova Spirit Tech and welcome back to the channel and today we're going to be checking out Android 14 for Raspberry Pi 5 and it's good so let's get started all right so there's been a recent release of Android 14 for the Raspberry Pi which is great news because that means a lot of the other operating systems that I want to test out like Windows 11 and stuff like that are slowly moving towards that step of Raspberry Pi 5 since it uses a completely different CPU but in this casee Android 14 is already here and we're able to test it and I got to say I've been playing around with it and it's really good they fixed a lot of issues that we had on our last demonstration of Android 14 on the Raspberry Pi 4 this version actually runs very very smooth now I'm not going to go through all the steps of installing or getting everything working with the G apps and everything it's the same as Android 14 on Raspberry Pi 4 like on my last video or Android 13 on the Raspberry Pi 4 again I'll leave the links to those videos it's exactly the same steps you just got to get your device ID install GS stuff like that to get it up and going but I am going to show you the desktop and we're going to be checking it out so here we are in on the desktop and I do have a few things installed and they all work and because it supports wild Vine and everything I I could also get Netflix working and all the other services like Disney plus and such but we're going to go check out actually let's first check out Firefox and we're going to check out this website right here so this is all the information they have on Android 14 for the Raspberry Pi 5 where you could get it where you can download it they even have installing steps and the links and everything that you need but this is what I'm more interested in which is working so everything is working compared to the previous version where we didn't even have Wi-Fi fully working but that's all fixed we do have Hardware acceleration graphic acceleration uh video decoding and a bunch of other stuff that are working so this is definitely a lot better in fine-tune compared to the last time we tested Android 14 so what's not working they say is USBC which is the ADB MTP PTP USB tethering dwc2 is not working yet for the Rasberry 5 5 uh there's some issues with the CSI camera modules which I did not test at all and then they say some audio decks need additional configurations which I don't know what that is yet uh encryption for user data is still not supported but that's that's a that's actually a lot of things that are resolved from the last version that we tested now these are the install instructions on the Raspberry Pi 5 if you keep going down after you install it there's actually steps on getting G apps working as well I'm just going to scroll down a little bit oh yeah you could also do USB boot or NVM boot so that's pretty cool I do have it on SD card right now so it's not on uh USB boot in this step right over here we have the how-to install wildvine uh we also have Magics and Google apps so yeah they have all the steps that you need to get this up and going and get everything you need and like I said I've been testing and it's working pretty good so we're going to head over to settings if I scroll down a little bit and go over to systems and then go over to Raspberry Pi settings we can still boot into recovery we got the audio device display resolution um Force rotation touchcreen power button volume button and over here what's interesting is that the default frequency is 2.4 which is actually default for Raspberry Pi 5 and you can actually go in here and boost it up to 2.8 2.9 now I've tested this on 3.0 and it works fine so I could actually boost this up to 2.8 or 2.9 and still be safe now I didn't find any reason for it because 2.4 actually works really good for this setup right now I'm going to put up some uh geek bench scores right over here compared to the Raspberry Pi 5 and the Raspberry Pi 4 and you can see the numbers are almost doubled from what you have on Raspberry Pi 4 so overall just because of those uh benchmark scores you could tell that this is going to be a lot more responsive and it is so heading into our first game I'm going to show you guys subdivision Infinity this is a 3D game that I actually play on my phone it's pretty fun uh you just fly around I like Space [Music] games and I'm just going to jump into a new game right over here you can see everything is so smooth it clicks and then it just works audio is working perfectly fine uh tutorial should pop up here soon I'm just going to close this out and then hit okay but if I control the screen controls look at this everything is so smooth running a 3D game like this and if I want to shoot I can shoot some stuff turbo boost but this is just literally showing you how good the graphics are just playing gamees and it works perfectly fine and audio is working as well I am going to close out of this hitting F1 will bring you back to the home and we could test something else like uh necr Smith which is another game that we tested on the Raspberry Pi 4 on Android 14 this is more of a pixelated game and it works a lot better on the desktop version but still I got this for Android and it works I'm not going to start a new game but it just shows you everything does start and it goes in um my save files didn't load so I'm just going to leave that as is now last time we handed an issue with NYX cloud and I wasn't able to click on anything on screen I had to actually use the keyboard and stuff so here I'm just going to show you that everything is working and if I was to click it works so they fixed a lot of stuff with the screen clicking as well and say if I go to 3D prints that works as well everything that I use on the nextcloud so far seems to be working and if I go over to Firefox we did check that out and was able to browse a website uh let's check out YouTube so YouTube another one just to see and here's my video for private GPT chat documents I'm going to them over to that and I'm going to skip this [Music] ad and there we have it a video running pretty good I'm just going to mute the volume from this and let's see can I full screen this where is it right here full screen works really good pop into this quality actually playback speed no quality quality where is it jump back over here quality we're going to [Music] do let's go to 1080 and I don't know if it really changed but I'm assuming it didn't because it look the same oh it did change so playback speed is definitely normal let me see if I scan through wherever I need to scan continue playing it works really good oh p uh pip works as well picture and picture and let's jump into uh Netflix now I'm going to blur this whole thing out so but you know that I'm running uh the application Netflix and it plays instantly let me skim a little yeah that works perfectly fine that is great picture and picture works for that as well but honestly that's pretty much it this actually runs really well as an Android desktop on the Raspberry Pi 5 I could throw applications at it I didn't have the issues with the clicking like I did before uh all the games I threw at it so far Works seamlessly uh Netflix is working uh YouTube a bunch of stuff and they do have a version with Android TV available so it's a little bit more intuitive if you hook this up to a bigger display but for now I'm just using the Android desktop and it's pretty good again I did get the Play Store working so I was able to install this apps through uh Google Play Store um you do have to watch my previous video on how to install G apps and get the device ID so you can register it so you could get uh Google Play to work otherwise it works perfectly fine if you guys have anything you want me to test on this let me know down in the comments below but I think I'm going to leave this in this configuration for a little bit because I do want to test more stuff with it and and see how far I could take it now if you guys are new to this channel consider subscribing and also hit that Bell notification icon so you know when the next video is going to be out and I say my nerd cave hack to lurs
