[Music] hi there everyone and welcome to Tech cravers it's that time again when an Amber Nick product shows up on my doorstep and this time it's the brand new Amber Nick RG 556 this is a handle I've been waiting on for a while as it's promised to be one of am bernick's most powerful handhelds yet it's powered by the uniso t82 20 and what that means in terms of gaming we'll about to see in just a bit it also boasts a gorgeous 1080p AMOLED display at 5.48 in which I definitely look forward to testing some of my favorite retro games on but before we do anything else I want to show you the unboxing of this thing so without any further delay let's jump into it 4 3 2 1 Z as followers of this Channel and retr handles fans in general would expect we get a very typical Amber Nick packaging the handle comes in this white box with basically nothing on it except from the outline of the handle on the front inside we have the usual things as well a quick start guide in both Chinese and English that will guide you through some of the buttons and the layout a screen protector and a USB a to USBC charging cable onto the handle itself I received this all black version the RG 556 also come in a transparent blue one which I think looks pretty cool as well but I don't like the LEDs around the joysticks on the transparent blue one I think they shine through too much when the first pictures of the RG 556 leaked online a while ago I actually thought that it looked pretty weird and cheap or childish compared to other Amber Nick products but now that I have it in my hands I don't really feel like that anymore my first real impression of it is that it actually feels pretty solid and has a design that's very much makes sense the large grips on the sides evoke the design of contemporary handheld devices such as the Odin 2 or even the steam deck although the steam deck obviously belongs to a different category of handhelds here we get a good view over how amernick has gone from this super squarish and blocky design with clicky side by-side shoulder buttons on the RG 552 to this new ergonomic design with the Stacked shoulder buttons on the RG 556 why don't you let me know in a comment down below which design you prefer personally even if I think the old blocky design looks a bit more premium I definitely prefer this more ergonomic design when playing my games for longer periods of time while there are aspects of this handle that I appreciate the materials used to construct it aren't as high quality as I had hoped it doesn't exactly feel cheap but it also doesn't exude a premium feel I suppose you could say it falls somewhere in between for instance I have never been fond of this glossy plastic without any texture it quickly attracts smudges and becomes a real magnet for fingerprints all right let's talk some about the hardware the joysticks are Hall sensor which pretty much has become standard across most companies these days meaning you don't have to worry about any drifting in the future unfortunately though they are quite small and have pretty big Cardinal snap which makes them pretty bad for games that require Precision aiming so I would recommend that you add some caps to them to add some height the d-pad is a bit bigger than normal from am bernick and it's also glossy which adds a bit to the non- premium feel that I mentioned earlier however in terms of usage I had no problems with false diagonals or such during my tests either in the gam pad tester or in actual gaming not much to say about the face buttons they are glossy as well and a bit loose to the touch but they get the job done and this is something I don't get to say often when it comes to Amber Nick Pro products but would you look at that it has stacked shoulder buttons the L1 and R1 are very clicky and the analog triggers feels nice although they are a bit stiff maybe but no issues at all while gaming apart from that we have an amernick launch button back and home button as well as buttons for start and select on the front downfacing stereo speakers a headphone jack USBC charging and an SD card slot at the bottom and on the top we have a fan exhaust vent volume buttons and a power on button on the back we have two intake Vents and nothing else the device comes with Android 13 which means the experience is going to be pretty familiar for any old Android User out there Google Play Store comes pre-installed so you just have to jump in and start downloading your favorite games and emulators but you can of course also side load them should you want that I also want to mention that many of the emulators are also pre installed on this device on the Rival but I like to start clean so I often uninstall them and install the ones I want to use instead but one of the perks of having them pre-installed is that am bernick has already configured the controls etc for that emulator making the initial setup process a bit faster it comes with Amber Nick's own built-in front end and all you have to do is to push the Amber Nick launcher button on the front and it pops up it's simple and requires just a few steps to set up however as you might know emulation station is now out for Android and if if you have an already configured SD card with emulation station setup I would recommend that you use that card instead as it's so much better in my opinion I actually recently made a video on how you do that so go check that out if you haven't seen it already anyway the device also comes with a built-in onscreen key mapper this is of course essential to play games like genin impact that don't support native controllers on Android and there are a few profiles already set up like one of course for genin impact from the the same swipe down menu we can also control some of the performance options like different performance presets and fan control profiles the fans can be set to either strong cool or Auto and I usually go with the auto option and lastly we can also long press the ambient light button to customize the analog stick LEDs but now I think it's time to go through some of the specs of this device before we jump into some real game tests the amernick RG g556 has that uniso t820 CPU that I mentioned earlier it's an octacore paired with a Mal g57 GPU it has 8 GB of lpddr4x RAM it has 128 GB of internal storage but it also has an SD card slot that supports external memory cards up to 2 tbte the store of the show is that 5.48 in 1080P AMOLED display which definitely will make your games pop it has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity and it has video out support through USBC it also has dual stereo speakers a 5,500 milliamp battery and it comes with Android [Music] [Music] 13 [Music] w [Music] [Music] [Music] a [Music] ha [Music] [Music] y you [Music] keep and that's it for my unboxing and review of the amberik RG 556 this is not a bad handheld at all it's actually one of the more likable handhelds I've tested from amernick in a while it's super comfortable and easy to set up but if I got to change anything I would like to see better plastic next time preferable with some texture to it but that's just my opinion and it's going to come down to personal preference whether you like it or not the handle can play anything up to and including greencast and PSP with no issues at all and many games from your GameCube and PS2 Library as well you might need to jump into some emulator tweaking if you want to play the most demanding PS2 and GameCube games though anyway I hope you enjoyed my review of the amberik RG 556 and that you could give the video a like if you did also comment down below what you think of this device and don't forget to subscribe to Tech cravers for
