are you looking for an emulator that won't break the bank has a fantastic screen and can play tons of emulators all the way up to the PS2 let me tell you about the am bernick RG [Music] 556 this is the gassiest and fanciest looking screen I've ever seen on a small handheld device but there's one glaring issue before before we get into the new Amber Nick device we are giving away another device to one of you subscribers so make sure you're subscribed and check the community tab to see who's won and we will be giving away a retroid pocket 3 plus that's been modified by me we like to give away a device every time we do one of these before you buy videos because my basement is full there's no more room I'm in my laundry room there is no more room and since there's no more room let me tell you about the am bernick RG 556 the colorway I have here is the blue translucent it has a 5.48 in Leed screen which is 1920 x 1080 HD a uniso 820 processor a quadcore Molly g57 GPU 8 gigs of RAM 128 gigs of storage comes with Android 13 on it has Wi-Fi Bluetooth 5.0 some fantastic speakers and a 5,500 milliamp battery which lasts about 8 hours give or take what you're playing on it and it supports 5 volts 2 Amp charging which takes around 3 and 1/2 hours to fully charge in addition to those specs we have two joysticks that light up and are clicky we have a d-pad that is squishy not clicky an Amber Nick button that is clicky and not squishy a home or back button that is also clicky and not squishy start and select buttons that are also clicky and not squishy abxy buttons that are squishy not clicky topped right and left bumpers are clicky not squishy and the right and left triggers are neither squishy nor clicky they just have resistance they're hall effect back triggers so they don't have a membrane which provides just feel of resistance versus click joysticks are also holif effect sticks in addition we have a power button that is clicky a volume rocker that is not squishy but clicky some vent holes for the onboard fan which do work in addition to some other holes like a SD card slot USBC for charging and data and 3.5 mm headphone jack nothing on the sides or back of the device now this is fantastic device my issues with the actual physical device itself is kind of what it's made out of this glassy plastic look phenomenal but my issue with it is it is fingerprint magnet just having this and playing with this I noticed that it has just got a grease all over it versus any other handheld I use not because my hands have changed or are super greasy it's just because for some reason this one holds on to fingerprints more easily than other Plastics now it looks fantastic and that gloss you could see right through to the PCB and all the cool stuff on the inside but for me it is too finger printy even though it looks spectacular in addition to that I've noticed the joysticks are just a little too small for me on this device the retroid pocket 4 has a taller joystick that just makes longer gaming sessions which you're going to want to be doing on this device way more comfortable even though the grips on this are phenomenal the speakers fire in the perfect Direction they fire down your arms versus anywhere else so they kind of Hit the the bottom palm of your hand and shoot back up at you which is perfect this is the only time I've seen a handheld shoot sound downwards and it not just be completely intelligible but those are minor gripes this is still a very nice handheld physically other than the physical device we have all that juicy software so let's dive into that and I'll tell you what my favorite parts are bits bites Bobs here we go now we have some succulent software this is running Android 13 and enck has their own front end built in which looks very nice and lays out all of the different devices that you can play on here and emulate you can also use other things like dig show or set anything else up that you'd like cuz it's Android so it's pretty easy to change to what you want now all of the 8 and 16bit era games like the Game Boy Advance game boy and all of that pixel style art will play fine on this device basically anything from the PS1 and Below will work just fine when we move up to N64 and Nintendo DS games all of these run well as well and for dual screen games you can actually resize the pictures to however you see fit moving just a bit up in the power scale here we are talking about the PSP which all of these games on this device run fantastically everything up to God of War and all the other games run very quickly and you can choose between each back end to get whatever game running exactly how you want it moving on to GameCube and Wii you can run some Wii games here but this is definitely going to be hit or miss where the GameCube collection is a lot more broad so anything that is 30 FPS and Below native on the GameCube will run just fine and other games that were more demanding will require a little bit more but this system can handle quite a bit of the GameCube collection moving on to the PS2 collection while I was able to get a lot of these games to run I did have some issues with different backends per game PS2 Library here while you can play a bunch of different games it's going to be down to what games you're trying to play that may be different power levels that play differently I was able to get Devil May Cry 3 here working on a different back end than I than it originally launched on thinking that it didn't work very well once I switched the back end I was actually able to get plenty of frames and play through this game quite well another positive to the software here is that it's Android so all of your streaming services will work fantastic on here preferably Xbox gam pad it runs just fantastic on here and with the 1080p OLED screen it looks spectacular as well now amberik put a bunch of different things into this system which is actually very helpful so what I mean by things are different settings in the Android overlay that they added on that really do help out the Comfort when you're playing so being able to switch in the settings between Nintendo switch or Xbox layout in the overlay button on the device versus having to do that mapping wise is very very nice also throwing in their own light controls and a few other different pieces of software like we showed earlier just really makes this experience a lot better than stock Android on a phone the software is fantastic everything on Android here is running perfectly fine I didn't have any weird issues and Amber Nick frontend software is actually really usable I also recommend dig Show's front end it looks so much nicer but I do have to say this new one Amber Nick put together it's very minimal and looks very nice on this OLED screen cuz those colors are very poppy in addition to game string on this device is one of the highlights so this brings us on to things I like and don't like about this handheld things I do like I like how nice the screen looks I like all of the buttons and the ergonomics of the device I think this is a very wellp put together handheld the sound is a plus it's in the right spot and doesn't do what a lot of the retroid and other PSP shaped devices do which is just face the sound down I like that we have lights on this but this is kind of a like and don't like at the same point I like that I have them it's nice to look at them but I generally end up turning them off they're nice to play with but when they're too bright or not bright enough you don't really notice them so I just turn them off to save conserve more battery it's a minor gripe I like how they look when you're filming it it looks phenomenal I'm probably taking product shots it looks really cool but for the translucent one it just kind of bleeds light into everything so it's kind of hard to see now I have noticed I actually like it more when I run it at the lowest setting so it's kind of just a dull ambient light versus a inyour face light it's going to be subjective to whatever you like as a gamer person Aesthetics I don't know it's okay now that we're into things that are okay let's move into don't likes I don't like the finish on this device even though it feels fantastic and takes photos fantastically it is a pain in the ass to keep clean I've noticed that it just soaks in fingerprints like I've said before and it it's just dirty this device looks dirty all the time when you're using it and you have to just constantly wipe it down to make it look nice again when you put it back on your shelf or into your bag my other gripe for this device is the joysticks the joysticks are not big enough in my opinion for a device this size you can get away with stuff like on a joycon because those are very tiny and small devices when you're attaching it to big screen I feel like you need a larger joystick for something this size because you have such good ergonomics with the actual like little hand pieces the little thumb grips and like Palm grips those feel great but the sticks then are too tiny for me I prefer something on the size of the retroid pocket 4 is a little better for me this will be subjective to how big your hands are I'm 6'2 and I can pal a basketball for reference lit nx.com sent this over to us which I appreciate them doing if you'd like to see where you can buy this handheld it's down in the description below they will have it listed for 240 and the competition is deep retroid pocket 4 is around the same price point depending if you get the pro or not pro and these are basically the same devices they can play up to around the same power level but it's going to come down to what you decide ergonomically you think feels better I think the size of this for the device and what you're trying to do feels better but for me the sticks feel better on the retroid pocket 4 so that's kind of a tossup not really sure because I like the screen on this device more than the pocket you also have the ion air if you can get a hold of that for a lower price that also has an OLED screen and I do actually have that one in for review but it had some glaring software issues that needed fixed before I did the review that's coming soon later down the road that's also in this price category and competition now if you're looking for something to play old retro games and that's pretty much it if you're playing anything from PSP and Below you can get a Linux based handheld for a lot cheaper it won't won't have a nicer screen and it won't have Android to be able to do a bunch of other stuff but you can get away for a lower price around the under 100 Buck Mark if you're play trying to find like the PSP replacement now if you're looking for something like a streaming handheld for Playstation Xbox steam Game Pass any of that stuff that you can stream to handhelds now which is fantastic this is a great Contender I'm summarizing that this is mainly for a streaming Android hand Health it also plays all the way up to the PS2 so this thing does gets a lot done in the category and Department of gaming if you're interested in gaming interested in more Amber Nick devices or a big competitor this steam deck but not in the same price category take a look at these videos because there are so many of these devices coming out and I honestly can't keep up we're going to be doing a steam deck video next comparing every model that's come out and if you get the absolutely modded model till then take a look at these videos they're free they smell free but they don't smell good I don't know how that works but it's a mystery it's very much a mystery goodbye
