An Irish Drinking Joke

[Music] I love jokes they're not politically correct anymore because somebody has to be the brunt of the joke and even if you're the brunt of your own joke there must look dormant and an insidious hatred of self now I grew up in an Irish family and believe me there's a lot of funny things about the Irish My dear sainted grandmother and an Irish Boston brogue I always had a little twinkle in her eye and a willingness to laugh at herself and others so it reminds me of a joke I heard the Irish being famous for drinking lovely old fellow retires and moves to a small village in Ireland he's spent his days and Irish find themselves what is called a local the public so he finds a lovely little pub and he spends his time drinking and reading the paper and chatting with people and they love him he's got a an idiosyncrasy whenever he comes to the pub he orders three pints not one and he has them all at the same time so finally a fortnight as they would say in to this the publican says you know I could pour them fresh for you each time take the head off it'll be a lovely thing he says aw no no no I had it's a it's a ritual in my family and said really what is it he said well I made a pact with me brothers when we drink we drink together he said ah well were your brothers he said I have one on the high seas he's a mariner lovely man lovely man and he says the others the other I believe is in Baja rain at the moment he's in the oil fields so we drink together now guarantee you if they're drinking they're drinking with me as we speak it's a lovely idea beautiful thing so this goes on for another fortnight and it comes in he said could I have two pints today please Oh certainly sir oh and the word goes out in the village they're afraid to ask flowers and cards start coming in this continues for a week or so finally the publican says sir could I ask you he said yes before you do are we having a holiday somebody said the flowers are beautiful the cards is lovely what a girl being new to the village what's the holidays it's all no sir we don't have a holiday it's the cards and the flowers are for you for me mother of god why he said well we've we've been reluctant to ask sir which are the lovely boys of your lost he said what do you mean he said the two pints he said is it is it the Mariner on the high seas or the fella in the oil fields which have we lost he said we have nice neighbor Oh God I've given up drinking myself I think that's funny [Music]
