An Absurdly Long Video on Persona 5 Royal

this feels strangely familiar wait what well I think most of you saw this coming and after long videos on Persona 3 Fez Persona 4 Golden experience I was missing the one the only Persona 5 Royal good cheese cheee this game is a re-release of the original Persona 5 game but adds in so many new things quality of life changes a new ending and a new character wow it's pretty much seen as the definitive way to play the game and I did do that streaming the entire thing when it launched making polls with chat to see who we should talk to probably the best streams I've ever done so it's only as we see the opening menu how is this menu even more stylish than before and we get given a contract to sign before even starting the game only those who have agreed to the above have the privilege at all you're taking the train starting tomorrow oh come on but all is not well in Persona 5 Royal Land as these strange incidents are happening where people's brains are just shutting down causing things like this huge train crash as we see this guy hit on prosecutor say and this boso Sushi perhaps belt only a and well it's our first day of school and what better day to get free breakfast a he will say that a lot uh it's just a saying jeez spoiler he might be one of my favorite Persona characters in the the entire franchise say what and this starts a trend in the game where anytime you meet someone who could remotely be seen as a friend the camera goes all vertical and takes you back to the present with say who is like you having [Music] friends that's unacceptable well good thing seems to be ruled by a creepier looking version of the PE teacher kashida and creepy is an understatement good creepy's naked and he doesn't like us so he sends his Gods to kill us okay F this is truly an unjust game yeah I know help me make a just very well I shall Grant you the power of a p son ah as we summon our Persona aren who is like a smooth jazz Thief having a bit too much fun God this is Ean nuts and we run out trying to find the exit but instead find this cat don't call me a cat I am Morana shut up oh all right sheesh a talking cat that's unacceptable try and recall again he after school ryuji really wants us to retrace our steps to find that castle again and turns out we need to say key words on the app to unlock it those words being kamos shujin Academy pervert Castle mac and cheese and we get sent into the other world with our snazzy new outfit we picked up after unlocking our Persona what's with that outfit I I ain't jealous and Morana appears saying how this is a distorted version of what kashida sees the school as explain it in a way that makes sense I shouldn't have expected a [ __ ] to get it what did you say hey [ __ ] hey Mona Mona it's Morana for [Music] real oh [ __ ] it's for real as ryuji last time saw prisoners and we go to see what's happening to them and oh my so it turns out kashida was an ex Olympian who took the school to Glory with a Volleyball Championships which allowed him to get away with assaulting the students he was Untouchable since the school was happy he was getting results these kids here aren't real this is all that k head his distorted desires but is reflective of what's happening in the real world hence the well- behaved student and man you really feel like you want to take down this guy which I think Persona does so well for an opening chapter it really makes you hate that first villain and what better way to take down a pu then with a I brought this just in case two suspicious young males found one armed with multiple weapons requesting immediate backup it's a fake gun but in this world it looks like a real gun and thus Begins the tutorial on gameplay which is is turn based I mean it would be kind of shocking if a Persona game wasn't turn-based who the heck are you and so you got to sneak around the castle not alerting guards and ambushing enemies by attacking them from behind which spawns you in this battle arena and it's the usual you got to use your personas to get elemental weaknesses on the enemies to knock them down that and we also have a gun which is limited to one use per battle but [Music] like it's very straightforward they explain to you the combat as you go through and Royal makes it even easier to get into the Persona style combat that sounds uh complicated how stupid can you be so yeah back to kamash torturing people but as we escape kashida finds us and reveals how he was the one who broke ryuji's leg and got him kicked off the track team pretty much screwing over his life and holy moly you will pay oh ryuji seems to have it covered with best boy revealing his what's up Persona and now we have three party members oh yeah Morana can fight he has a JoJo looking P soda uses healing and win attacks yeah I forgot to mention that and we win but kashida goes I know how to win this battle and brings out a fake an this version is how he sees her and it seems to work on Morana what no time for that you Hoy cat I don't remember changing into this uh should I be happy about that then again it ain't as bad as yours so it turns out Morana had another reason for freeing us to help him find where his human body is because he truly and I mean truly believes he ain't a cat but since he is a cat we can just leave him here oh hell no get back here so we talked to ruji and become best friends which in Persona terms means he's very valuable to us forming The Confidant links not Social Links was there really a need to change it from the last game wording that pretty much means you want to make friends in this game since you can't in real life to then make stronger personas but this makes say very angry a criminal like you having more friends than her that's unacceptable and so what should we do new best friend meat man hey wait is it a bit soon for uh meatman and we tell him how we got sued by a baldman what not so loud but just hearing your story makes me angry hey I'm trying to eat lunch here oh my bad then cut back to an don't worry man did they just extend her neck in this game she looks like a dag giraffe who was talking to her best friend shho was on the volleyball team probably not getting treated well by kashina just like that very well behaved student and this action is the last draw for ryuji as he says we should talk to the volleyball students we saw in the palace to get them to confess that kashida has been abusing them and back at home since we are playing the PC version you get all the DLC for [Music] free all right already and we get another dream about Eagle who really makes his stance on some important topics thoughts what and so we talked to theud students the next day but no one really confirms it because they are too scared but that one guy Mishima almost does until kashida appears and keeps him very quiet everybody knows the principal our parents they all know and they all keep quiet about it well an is suspicious of us back you dump him right away behind my back no stop it and don't look at me like that why do blueeyed people always do this and we still can't find evidence even even after sheho to be joking around and apparently we got to take care of this guy as he tells us okay so kash's Castle is a palace you know what he views a school as a manifestation of his evil thoughts he thinks he rules the school but if we destroy the castle those desires should be gone right which means there are these Treasures in said Palace and if we remove them the person will lose all desire however he goes there's the odd chance that this might kill them since a person without desires isn't really a person yeah I'm okay with that shees and this comes to a point when we overhear Anne crying about how kashida wants her to do things for the old hexagon ja otherwise sheo will lose a starting spot on the team and she breaks down and the only reason she was faking being in a relationship with kashida was for her friend and she isn't like the rumors we heard about her as we just sit there not saying a word you're so weird and as such her saying no causes kashita to do deplorable things to she her made me very angry which leads to the scene with her jumping from the roof and falling into a coma and it still hurts even on a third replay and so we confront Mishima to find out what kashida did and upon finding out ryui goes to confront the teacher suzui is in a com and her chances of recovery are slim how would someone like that make a statement there's no chance of her getting better I hear oh the poor girl no I can't be you godamn he then goes to hit kashida but we the silent MC tell him no as kashida says us three are expelled and he will do so at the next board meeting in 2 weeks and since he's touchable there is nothing we can do unless we in that time go into his Palace to steal his treasure and get him to confess to his crimes however an overhears this part but ryuji tells us to go away mostly to protect her I hope she doesn't do anything too crazy women and we agree to destroy the palace making Morana very happy dubbing us the Phantom thieves Phantom thieves and so we enter with the app however an gets sucked in being right near us as she also wants revenge on masa for what he did to she her and well I guess this is what she sees first up it's a monster cat monster the trio push her back out of this world which uh like is there a boundary they just push her out into the real world you know she could just come back in right easily right for real and Morana says okay we need code names calling us the Joker so uh why is he Joker because Trump and ryuji will be skull and Morano Mona not really a good code name huh and since we got the DLC for free it means we got so any outfits we could use annoyingly it's only in the dungeon it shows up as in many cut scenes it just reverts back to default but yeah I don't know man it's that time of the year the sun is shining down here I'm kind of feeling the Christmasy spirit because the other outfit holy fish P well ryuji suits him I mean why does he look like a British lad hell yeah we'll hold every last one of them up and we learn a new thing where knocking down enemies weaknesses lets us hold up where we can either talk to the demons for money items or even to join our team or if you don't care about that you can do an allout attack which is the most stylish thing this game was known for I mean when your battle menu looks like this of course you're going to turn heads and so we run around the palace dealing treasure and trying to find the bigger treasure while an gets the app on her phone somehow eego what the heck are you doing and goes in only to get caught by the night and so we have to save her wait what as we see Ann captured but then seeing kashida she awakens her Persona which has a wearing this and going so are you ready for me to whip you into shape what do you say to that kashita and we literally beat up a demon on a toilet give it but K runs away are you all right lady on lady on oh godness Bri looks even worse with the mask and so to regroup grou we head back to the real world and explain the whole situation to her really I'm talking to a cat meow and an joins a team as the fourth member completing the one shared brain cell group what a girl she's captured my heart dude and we head home where Mona is so loud and meowing Soo hears it but who can stay mad at cats and says fine maybe taking care of a cat might help straighten you out Al Mona's like okay thank you can do things like to increase our stats either by making new friends or leveling up be by bars points on the stars because you know we got to be stylish with everything which lets you progress more in the game I.E at your current level you can't Dodge this but if you're maxed out so we first need someone to sell us healing medicine being the back alley quack do I need medicine St in a case like yours it's usually just due to stress they always say it's stressed I'm not stressed okay I live in a coffee shop it's just the nerves okay we meet this guy on the streets telling us everyone wake up wake up we see some creepy NPC tourists and meet the gun guy I who can sell Us weapons you got the guts for it of course I hope his Glocks work better than his transition animations and it's cool how when you upgrade the weapons it lets you sell the old ones you have equipped so easily this game really feels like a culmination of all the quality of life features needed for Persona 3 and four for example you know have an assist button which is when you're connected online it will tell you what other things people did on that day but also it says which confidence are available to talk to feature I had to actually mod into Persona 4 to make it more manageable so I'm very glad it's already here and we head to school every day still try to avoid kamash but it's kind of hard with a jaw old battle song you know the one come but ambushing an enemy plays a new TR should work fine this damn and so an needs a code name which will be pany she's a cougar don't call me that but before that we get called nicely into the Velvet prison shut your mouth and listen inmate where Eagle explains executions which is a fancy and brutal way to fuse personas pretty much you'll be doing this and not be like me on my first playthrough of the game keeping us in the ENT entire game you know you can always just use your money to resummon all personas or the DLC ones we'll get back to them later baby and you can fuse anything under your level cap but they get Confidant boost so the higher confident rank you have the more bonus XP you get fusing a Persona with that AATA meaning you really got to make friends to get stronger personas man it's just like real life cry your tears of joy inmate God Caroline is so pushy done already what are you finished what and so the Christmas thieves Journey Begins where you got safe rooms where you can save the game because yeah it's still annoying how this game doesn't let you save anywhere unless you're a lucky switch player well I wouldn't say lucky and learn about the Baton Pass where after knocking down an enemy you can instead pass to another teammate who might have another attack to dock down a different enemy while it also boosts their attack which is kind of busted and and then the game also has an assist button which will literally swap to the best attack for you to do like the game just plays itself it's actually so much quality of life improvements maybe a bit too much and so you make your way to the castle using the Batman ability to solve puzzles using lockpicks to open Treasures wondering what the heck Ed is doing and since you're the main character grabbing more personas like some boots here look at your cat while Mona is a navigator helping you out with his wise words of wisdom it's almost scary how good I am it's almost scary how good I why does his face look like the noin Ary Meme and you got more mechanics like the Shadows can beg for their life and not die and join your team if you get spotted the guards chase you and joke instead of sneakily opening doors does this looking cool and there's a new purple enemy which will explode what the [ __ ] and you fight mini bosses where they had Telegraph big hits but since I controlled my whole party except for Mona okay don't question it you can like change each party member if you want to have them controllable or not don't question it I'm just weird like that I keep him AI based he's like okay everyone guard now but that doesn't guard [Applause] himself sorry and a brand new thing in Royal is a grapple which lets you get to New areas and find these will seeds which you will see a lot about later on while other things like sleep actually being kind of busted since putting enemies to sleep actually works on most enemies you know in the older Persona games those status effects never seem to work and here you can then technical them without a weakness for an allout attack it's a lot of cool new things they added to flesh out the battles and dungeons even more also hint maybe grab this Persona since the ice attack really helps against the horse dudes since your teammates don't help I missed really and we find our way to the throne room which should have a treasure in it but it hasn't manifested meaning we have to go back into the real world and make kashida think someone is going to steal his heart thus making his treasure appear but in the meantime you can do things like studying solving Crosswoods and this is such an escapism game while hanging out with the characters to further their Confidant link like ryuji about how he got kicked off the track team because kashida goed ryuji into hitting him which shows just how much ryuji hates the teacher maybe a bit too much why am I getting so many weird glitches and it's cool how even after the events the characters will call you up talk a bit more and it would have been so perfect if these links were fully voiced it was so close to Greatness well I think 420 is a perfect day to send the caller card will you will announce to kashida that you were stealing his treasure which will cause him to make it visible for you to steal in the palace giving us only one day to fight the boss and it's on the next day maybe I should have done this on the 19th but we see the twins now call us into the Velvet prison where we now got a new spot that allows us to fuse personas without going into a dungeon anyway we s the calling card which has ryuji making the card and placing them all over school from The Phantom thieves of Hearts wow well he sees the node and his Palace goes into overdrive lockdown steal it if you can meaning his treasure is visible for us to steal so we go and do that man it's huge B is really happy seeing the treasure wow but it isn't that easy as kashada stops US starting the boss battle Yeah that sure is a boss and it's fairly obvious what to do the game will give you hints on what to attack like the trophy to stop him healing as he brings in people to serve volleyballs like a cognitive version of Mishima and I've brought you your ball I didn't need to see that so you have to send someone to grab the crown while the others distract him and don't send and since he's always staring at her why not snowbo Bo who knocks off the crown and we win however boy but Ann goes sicko mode and makes him cow and give up the treasure but stop short of killing him which actually won't make him go crazy like the train driver instead he will confess his crimes and turn himself into the police so we don't have to kill anyone which is a great outcome but that means this Palace collapses and the damn cat is just licking himself so now we got to wait for the deadline and pray he confesses and it's the looking good as kawakami says he handed himself in wait this not so loud well I guess we got nothing else to do for 2 weeks but uh read books on the train like the nerd you are talk to the goth Doctor Who locks the door on us and forces us to test their medical DRS whatever you say goth [Music] lady also when you buy items like healing drinks usually it's a maximum of two so you got into this habit of like you the room which with protein can give us 12 whole points increase to our health in one go and then take a bath with random people easily apply for a job at the flower shop which keeps us out really much to the shock of everyone that these mysterious Phantom thieves that announced themselves actually made him confess his crimes so yeah our work is done it's like we defeated kashida without laying condition currently we only have a month bro we always had a month to defeat a palace this isn't you right right why don't they love repeating dialogue in this game as we head into the palace with the these white walls and weird alien monsters as we reach the end and see Frank's tentacles which he used in mentos to pick people to actualize their desires which lets us go back into the palace and we get these VCR memories of Frank's life how he ended up like this so basically if one could tap into person's cognitive world he was engaged to room who fell into a mental breakdown after seeing her parents killed and in his desperation an entity granted him power to help roomi cope with this by changing her reality in that her parents actually died in her childhood so she's had time to get over it that meant she never met Frank and so he loses her and further on we see how his research into cognitive P science was cut funding by shedo and around this time he finished the paper you know with the help of us remember he couldn't have done it without us his Persona granted Frank the power to change things no one will be able to complain no complaining and the dungeon has a lot of puzzles you got to pick the best answers here to trolley problems then passageways opening with color locks like a Resident Evil type of puzzle as we see Frank convince Samir that she's Kumi to help her well we reached the treasure and now we'll send the calling card on the 3rd of February which means free time and we can finally finish off the confidence like Mish is ranked 10 and ryuji since he's already ranked 10 he now gets a third Persona where the first and second fused together while he uh and the persona's name William that's not inating at all and we finally get Sam's confidon where we uh uh the characters have different outfits I really appreciate how they actually update the characters's looks over the course of the game well kakami comes back from the farm just to tell us something oh party members on any turn yeah before it only let you swap on Joker's turn but now you can do it on anyone bro that's a normal jrpg mechanic why is it locked in this optional person and we finally it's so menacing Adam did they just run out of cool names for the pesas and with my favorite posa fire Royal music track ever we fight again and it's the easiest fight in the entire game H but Frank is like ah screw it I don't care whether I live or die anymore rumia's gone what's the point and offers his life to the Persona killing him for another phase oh no however througha reveals we just got to attack the head while the gang blocks the super punch and this has gone full anime as Joker launches himself to shoot the boss with the most nerdiest of catch Braes Checkmate as we finally kill Frank and the party escapes with Mona turning into a helicopter you could have saved ryuji from the head trauma you could have just flown before no complaining and Frank is still alive somehow and is like I don't care man just beat me up it didn't learn your lesson H and we fight actually fist fight him before saving him from falling and the world now goes back to normal magnificent and yeah when the original timeline with the whole month of her life just gone just like in the real holidays and Mona is still alive Yep this again recycle gags suck hey don't ever say that no complaining and so yeah in the original timeline of CCH is dead meaning we have to be arrested by say so we in jail the whole time but the gang are doing whatever they can to free us really yes even kawakami going back to school to Rally the teachers even Mishima and Samir telling her gym teacher he doesn't belong in juven detention at all girl I don't care we got Nationals tomorrow as lent says we are now unlocked the world where we finally get freed as the woman with Shido confess to what actually happened that night and Shido is tried for his crimes meaning we could finally go home another accident huh and so HS Dr maruki what the heck are you doing here and he drives us to the station and thus ends Persona 5 Royal what a journey it's still crazy what a game this is considering you have the base game in this in addition to all the new features yeah if you ignore Yoshi and Frank you can just continue and have the amazing base game all there I do love the new additions Royal did though but it felt kind of different with the final villain not feeling fully evil and the fight felt a bit more comical in a way but at the same time the villain was more serious serious I mean I barely had any funny lines to work with apart from but it's still such an amazing game easily the best way to get into the series if you want to start out and yeah I guess it's the first Persona game that I've beaten where I have beaten the original and now the remake or remaster and while we're going through this yeah there were some changes some odd ones like did you even notice they changed the font between the games but it feels so good to finally have long videos on Persona 3 four and five the definitive versions it's been a long road doing these long series and while they don't seem to do as well as before I'm
