[Music] so [Music] to my kitchen today i am going to make the starter for amish friendship bread so the first thing you're going to do is add two and a quarter teaspoons of active dry yeast and then you're going to add some warm water no particular measurement just enough to get it started and you want to mix with a wooden or plastic spoon never a metal spoon and just mix that together and then we're going to just let this sit for about 10 minutes until it gets bubbly on the top okay it's been about 10 minutes so now i'm going to add one cup of flour and you want to add this to a plastic or a glass bowl never metal so one cup of flour one cup of sugar and one cup of milk doesn't matter what kind of milk and give that a stir mix that all together once you have that mixed together add your yeast and give that a good stir and then you want to cover it and just store it do not put it in the refrigerator just let it sit out on your counter so today will be day one okay so it's day three day two you didn't do anything you just let it sit so day three i'm just gonna take a wooden or a plastic spoon and stir it for about a minute and we're going to cover it back up day four and five we do nothing but let it sit on the counter and then i'll be back on day six okay so today is day six i'm going to add one cup of flour one cup of sugar and one cup of milk doesn't matter what kind of milk and stir that with a plastic spatula and just mix that together really well so that's it for day six gonna cover it back up let it sit tomorrow is day seven and we do nothing but let it sit on day eight i'll be back okay so today is day eight and all i'm going to do is give this a good stir and then i'm going to set it aside and do nothing for day 9 and then i'll be back on day 10 to put it all together don't worry if this smells a little funky it's supposed to okay it's finally day 10 and i'm just gonna take my mixtures give it a good stir and then i'm going to separate into three equal portions they should be about one cup each so i'm going to put one cup in each of these containers and these are containers you can give to friends or you can keep and make more amish friendship bread you'll just keep repeating the 10-day process okay i have them divided into these two bowls and my original bowl so i'm going to add this one cup to a big bowl now if you give this away or you keep it this would be considered day one and to this i am going to add one cup of vegetable oil a half a cup of milk three eggs beaten one teaspoon of vanilla and we're just going to give that a good stir and then set it aside and we'll mix up the dry ingredients so for dry ingredients we're going to add one cup of flour one cup of sugar one and a half teaspoons of baking powder one tablespoon of cinnamon a half a teaspoon of salt and a half a teaspoon of baking soda and then i'm going to add instant pudding vanilla um if you can find a big box you can just use one big box i couldn't find the big boxes so i'm gonna use two of the smaller ones and mix that all together once you have that all mixed together we're going to add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in thirds so put a third in and give it a stir then add another third and stir and keep going until you have it all mixed together once you have it all mixed together i have greased two loaf pans and i'm going to separate this batter half an inch once you have it divided into your two pans just sprinkle a little cinnamon and sugar i took about a tablespoon of sugar and a couple sprinkles of cinnamon mix that together and just sprinkle that on the top of your bread and i'm going to bake these in a 300 325 degree oven for one hour i'm gonna check them in 50 minutes but usually it takes about an hour i'll be back and show you what it looks like okay so it's been 60 minutes and then i let the bread cool for about 10 and took it out i wish you could smell it smells amazing so you should end up with two loaves of bread and your two starters you can keep one give one to a friend or keep them both in in ten days you'll have two more loaves of bread from each starter i hope you enjoyed thanks so much for watching please like share and subscribe and i will see you on the next one [Music] you
