all right so we're going to take a look at another graphics card today I'm so over graphics cards but I figured we'd give this one a shot I wanted to try out something with my charts and it gives me a good opportunity anyway we're talking about the 7900 gr this is a non-xt variant that was intended initially for the China only Market which launched last July of 2023 but it's now gone Global meaning it'll be available everywhere so let's see how it Stacks up to some of the other AMD cards in the stack as well as other cards that land right around it in performance its price point is actually pretty competitive so let's see how this one does nxt's BL is a quick and easy way to get a new gaming computer build a gaming PC on your budget using the built-in configurator which now includes Intel's 14th gen CPUs featuring faster cores with increased core counts and speeds up to 6 GHz for an overall better gaming experience don't want to build it yourself then choose from bl's preconfigured player PC systems built with performance and various budgets in mind to see the full lineup and specs of the NZXT build player series pre-built PCS follow the sponsored Link in the description below so the GRE actually stands for Golden rabbit Edition uh which is paying homage like the Chinese zodiac and it was specific for the China Market uh kind of like Nvidia had the D the 480d or Dragon which was also uh just kind of a naming scheme that was just to represent the China Market only um the difference between the 408d is the fact that the 790 GRE has just gone Global meaning it's available in all markets not just China and I think this is actually a good move because the price point is actually pretty competitive at $549 if you recall the 7800 XT like initially launched at $599 and if the naming scheme means anything this should be faster than a 7800 XT spoiler alert it is so that's not a bad thing and there was a huge gap in performance between the 7800 XT and the 7900 XT and there's also a really big gap in price too so it's nice to see a card slide in there that's going to give a competitive competition to that $549 price point as we know right now is occupied by the RTX 470 um anyway I just put up some specs right here so you can see some of the differences between the XT and the GRE they're both Navi 31 processors there's only um a few what 256 less cores or stream processors pre processors at 5120 versus 5376 so 320 tmus versus 336 160 RS versus 192 16 GB versus 20 Gigabytes that would be the biggest difference between the two cards in terms of um capability although 16 gigs is more than enough for just about any title these days both were running gddr6 256bit bus versus a 320 I don't know if these pictures are actual like in terms of the way the die is arranged I didn't take the cooler off but it's interesting to look like the 7900 XT and the GRE are like 90° offset from each other so I don't know why that would be but I would have assumed it's actually the same PCB I would assume but anyway one thing to point out though is there is a 7900 XT reference Edition card from AMD which is what this cooler is that you're seeing right here here's the side profile of it there is no reference card for the 7900 GRE so it's only aibs or or addin cars or add-in board Partners which in this case here we have the uh hellhound from powercolor this is an MSRP card at $549 uh so I just wanted to point that out there and in terms of features it's actually pretty feature Rich for a MSRP card it has a dual bios it has a silent uh bios and an OC bios so all the testing that you're going to see today was done on the OC bios um although even on the OC bios does have a zero RPM or zero DB mode which means the fans when not underload will stay off and it will take a little while once the load uh is applied for the fans to actually turn on there is a temperature threshold there so without further Ado let's go ahead and get into the results now I took an opportunity to kind of play around with my charts here so first and foremost give me some Grace here cuz I'm still kind of working it out okay the colors are going to look weird I'm working on that but I wanted to show you guys some data and trying to give you some sort of more empirical data to kind of compare it to not just other AMD cards cuz guess what if I compared it to a 7800 XT and a 7900 XT it would be in the middle every time that's pretty much how it worked out but I want to see how it compares to other cards and what other cards land near it so when we look at our charts right here I need yes the colors are dumb I know I'm going to fix it I'm not the greatest at Excel but I can Excel enough to get the job done yeah I know I know it's what I did was I took the the score of the 7900 hellhound or the GRE and I took the four slower cards and the four faster cards than it so that means there's nine cards on every single chart right here now those nine cards the only one that's going to be guaranteed to be on every chart is going to be the hellhound cuz what I did is I took that span of nine cards with the hellhound in the middle just to show you in that particular test in that resolution what cards are landing near it so as you can see right here in the orange SLP purple magenta pink sorry Phil Phil is red green color blind so it's a color it's a color compared to the others I apologize also for anyone red green color blind also too the 7900 will always be right in the middle if you're curious um so the 7900 XT all the way at the top as you would expect the hellhound landed at 12,170 but you can see the 470 Fe is a little faster at 13,112 and the 380 Fe a little slower at 11723 now this is not an all-inclusive list meaning I don't have every single card on the market on this list we're still working on trying to build up our spreadsheets so I don't have 20 series cards on here and stuff we are working on that but as you can see if you're still rocking like a 6950 XT Red Devil which is one of the more faster aib cards look at the difference in score 12,170 versus a 10,586 even the 7800 XT Red Devil as you can see down here uh it's significantly faster then and that 7 to 800 XT Red Devil was quite a bit more expensive than this card at its launch so to see that this card is faster and cheaper is exactly what we need to see in the market right now so because this is a rate tracing test it may it's no surprise that the 4070 super is beating it but the 470 super is also more expensive at $5.99 the $549 470 Fe down here at 11262 it's nice to see a AMD having a card beating an Nvidia card with Ray tracing at the cheaper price point technically it's the same price point 470 Fe is down to 549 so not a bad start actually if we go to rasterization here um as you can see the 7900 hellhound GR in our particular instance is beating our 3090 stricks which was like a $1,799 card when it was new $549 we're talking a third of the price it's actually a pretty good proposition value but still beating the 47d Fe even in rasterization so once we take those fourth gen RT cores and what or those third gen RT cores on Nvidia and compare it to whatever they're doing with the GRE they're actually getting some pretty uh significant performance however you can see the 6 950 XT Red Devil has a little bit of a lead when it comes to rasterization because it's just a big beefy card it was just the fact that the second gen RT cores found on the 7,000 series GPU is is faster than the first gen which is why the 6950 XT was losing in the RT test um you can see 470 tough that's the next 4070 to actually beat the 790 uh hellhound the 4070 TI tough that's a significantly more expensive card but you can see the 470 TI super tough way up here at 11,8 33 but that's also like what an $800 card so it's it's nice to see that it's even within the realm of performance of those cards okay this is where the charts are going to look weird okay give me some Grace like I said so I tried color shifting and it didn't work because of this the pink blue and purple those were terrible colors I'm going to change it I swear to God I promise and I'm going to add more tests to this but it takes time to build our portfolio but I wanted to put out some information these charts are all sorted by 1440p and you're going to notice 1080p numbers are all kinds of weird and that's because cards are getting fast enough now to where 1080p introduces bottlenecks even in a 13900 K uh in most titles so that's why I feel like the priority of sorting for 1440p on a high range card like or high-end card like this is important to do if I had sorted it by 1080p it would look all kinds of odd but you can see the hellhound is 210 FPS and 1080p versus 222 but matches the 1440p performance of a 4070 TI super tough that's impressive cuz that card is well over $700 and that's a $549 card you can see it's beating the 6950 XT Red Devil 146 ver 156 um beating the 470 TI beating the 390 TI in 1440p beating the 6900 XT as expected cuz the 50 is up here um yeah not bad at all you can see the 4080 and 4080 Neptune are the cards that landed four spots above it so that's pretty impressive for this card uh to be able to land like that of course Borderland lands is a very AMD friendly title so if we move on to cyberpunk no RT uh you can see the cards around it change quite a bit so we're getting 106 FPS in 1440p 470 TI super is Right Above It But 14 FPS higher uh more than 10% higher right below it is a 4070 TI tough and that's fun to see because of the fact that this card's cheaper than both right it is um as and you can see right here the 7800 XT Red Devil is down below it as you'd expect two cards down two cards up the 7900 XT and you're going to notice that theme throughout all these charts which means that it's obviously been I don't want to say neutered it's not the right word it's just its price to Performance is aggressive which is actually really good so moving on cyberp Punk once we turn on RT as you can see those 30 series cards and stuff really start to catch up right so we got 34 FPS in 1440p remember no dlss no FSR this is just raw horsepower doing um the r tracing for us so I didn't want to have any of the software or AI aspects of the card affect the way the performance looks although Phil did an amazing video talking about how a lot of the latest dss3 uh and FSR stuff and the uh fluid motion gaming really kind of plays in with these cards and those are technologies that you're getting with the card that you really should consider when it comes to your purchasing so I highly recommend going and checking out that video if you want to learn more about what AMD is doing to try and compete with dlss 3 but moving on you can see it's um 5 FPS behind the 3080 Fe and it is for FPS ahead of the 370 TI Fe and then the 7800 XT red Devil's way down here and the 7900 XT is way up there so lands exactly where you'd expect once we turn on or turn off RT and go into shadow of the Tomb Raider you kind of got to ignore the 1080p numbers here because of the fact that we're still updating our test since our spreadsheet started they lifted like the engine cap because of um bottlenecks and stuff so some of these cards for instance are um still being NE neutered by the old cap and some are showing the new cap so 1080p completely ignore those numbers on this chart it's just because they're on the Excel spreadsheet is why they're showing up but sorted by 1440p you can see it's actually losing slightly to the 6950 XT Red Devil can't really explain that one it's just some of the engines prefer certain architectures I don't know how to explain it but it's beating the 390 stricks again which is a fun story to talk about a third of the price right it's beating the 380 TI it's beating the 6900 XT it's beating the 470 Fe right at the same price by a good margin 163 versus 179 and then it's only losing to the 390 TI by 6 FPS 470 super uh is 10 FPS higher and then the 470 TI tough 204 this is one of those ones that's like yeah so you'll notice sometimes we see a 4070 TI super sometimes we don't again it depends on the way the cards landed within the zone of the card that we're working at so if you if you don't like this method at which I'm doing it let me know uh I'll try and adjust the charts to kind of give data that means more sense to you but I'm trying to show you guys just if I drew a circle around this card what lands in that Circle and that's what I'm trying to demonstrate here so Shadow the Tomb Raider Once you turn on RT um again 1080p numbers ignore those it's all weirdness with this title right now with our charts um but you can see it's beating the 380 Tif put that in perspective if you bought that card when it launched during the uh GPU shortage back in like 2021 Technically when that card came out uh you paid at at least at least what $1,300 for that card at the bare minimum if you found it for MSRP that makes this card uh just over 2third of the price of or just over one/ third of the price of that card so that should put that in perspective right but uh it's beating the 470 Fe which again at the same price is a is a good value both in 4k and in 1440p and then it's one FPS off from our STS right and then 3090 TI is up a few FPS like 14 FPS and that as the cards go up like the 4070 super um they spread as what you'd expect it to be based on the price of these cards so again showing very strong value uh for what it is moving on to Forza Horizon 5 which is our last title things look fairly linear here um again this title's odd where a lot of our cards are having FPS in 1440 and 1080p very close together and there's a big bigger gap between 4K and 1440p uh if we take a look at the hellhound it's Landing landing at 145 for 14 1840 which is uh what 9 FPS faster than the 6900 XT it's faster than a 4070 super Fe it's faster than a 6950 XT and of course faster than 7800 XT Red Devil barely slower than a 470 TI tough which is nice to see now remember the 4070 TI is a sunset card it's not available anymore you can't buy it the the card that slid in basically at its price points a 4070 TI super stupid name I know oh here it is right here 4070 TI super so at 160th FPS so 6 FPS lower significantly cheaper card and then the 4080 and the 700 XT up here those cards are in just leagues of their own when it comes to pricing so as you can see the 7900 gr although people are just jaded and really don't care about graphics cards anymore these days it is something that you owe it to consider if you're shopping for a graphics card around the $500 to $550 price point because if you're shopping the the $549 to $599 price point the only thing AMD had to offer was the 7800 XT which was being completely destroyed by the 4070 super so now that we're seeing a card that's cheaper and like really competing with those cards it's it's just a nice alternative to always having to consider an Nvidia card um anyway I'm glad that they brought this one to a complete Global Market because it would suck to have such a good value card only exist in one region that wouldn't be available anywhere else in the world so there you go guys the 7900 GRE something that's worth considering if you're in that price point and you just are done giving the green to the green if that makes sense all right guys thanks for watching please give me feedback on our charts I know they suck I just don't know exactly how you want me to present the data we're trying to build bigger charts we're going to be adding more titles more modern titles in there to really see how things perform so I need Title suggestions and I also need some chart suggestions it's just there's so many ways we can present data I get lost in it and you know me I'm not a data snob I just I I want to present the data to you that matters but I don't know what that looks like so help me I actually have an AI script I can run that will read every single comment in this video and will give me like the top five answers that people have been giving so I can actually see the general population's response to this and I can respond to that in our future videos all right guys thanks for watching as always I'll see you in the next one
